Ericsson with the win, Dorsett with the headache.

Wow. 6' 5" and that's all you've got? Pathetic. Ericsson got in a few jabs but that's because of the reach. This wasn't a pounding, it was a boring fight with few landing.

Posted by slavv on October 22, 2011 at 12:08 AM

The Wings must be feeling pressure to fight due to all the sissy-calling they took from us last year. Unfortunately, a guy at 6'6" threw a bunch of wild punches but I honestly don't know if anything landed. And that's why the Wings don't fight...they simply can't.

Posted by Detroit_Caps on October 22, 2011 at 08:45 PM

Good for Ericsson for dropping the gloves, he;s gotten far better the last two years. Needs to get some more power, he should of put him out with all the ones he landed.

Posted by billy jack on October 22, 2011 at 07:13 PM

dorsett never had the size to reach erickson or he would of won.but then if dorsett was bigger erickson wouldn't of wanted the scrap.win for the way bigger guy.

Posted by mudman55 on October 22, 2011 at 12:38 PM

Who the Hell scored this a draw? Slaw, what fight vid were you watching? He connected with Dorsett's head at least 5 times.

On behalf of my fellow Red Wing fans, who haven't known true team toughness since the 'Bruise Brothers' left town... ...it's about friggin' time!

Finally someone in red drops the mittens. I dont know if I can go another season of Eurohockey in Motown. Props to Ericsson for standing up and putting Dorsett in his place. Maybe he (Dorsett) should be sticking with the Carcillos/Storhuggies of the league from now on.

Posted by Riomouse911 on October 31, 2011 at 02:47 AM

DD is poretty good at using that ear to soften up the fists of his opponents.

Posted by tyrone on October 22, 2011 at 01:07 PM

Props to someone on the Wings for fighting. Too long of a reach for Dorsett to do anything. Ericsson would be no match for anyone 6'2" or bigger.

Posted by majik317 on October 22, 2011 at 08:01 AM

Another homer announcer, "Dorsett has a lot of heart..." then Dorsett stops fighting because he's done getting jackhammered. Yep we're down 3-1 and Dorsett tries to spark his team? Ericsson wanted his lunch money, got him to come out to the playground and took it from him. All Dorsett did was get beat up.

Posted by bluemang on October 22, 2011 at 12:58 AM

Dorsett...just a heads up...if Steve Ott is too short to fight Ericsson then so are you. Big E landed and landed....and got bored with landing on the back of Dorsett's head. I think the Wings might have 20 fights this year! BIg E with the big win of a lopsided mismatch. Anyone calling this a draw or saying Ericsson didn't land at least 6-7 solid headshots is blinded by Wing-envy/hatred.

Posted by Bigford83 on October 21, 2011 at 11:41 PM

Jonathan Ericsson and Justin Abdelkader - the modern-day Bruise Brothers!

Posted by b.t.wilson on October 21, 2011 at 10:18 PM

I think Dorsett's left ear is probably very sore, but other than that he should be good. Always good to see a Red Wing square go. Ericsson, 5.

Posted by steve1480 on October 29, 2011 at 04:21 PM

Love how the Homer announcer praise how tough Dorsett is while he is geting handled by a Swede

Posted by staceyb on October 21, 2011 at 10:24 PM

You have to give it to Ericsson with the size and reach advantage though Dorsett was hanging in there. About 15 minutes later Nash got into a scrap with Hudler and Dorsett was ready to fight again. Look for Scott Arniel to be the first NHL coach shown to the exit door. And GM Howsom won't be too far behind. The Blue Jackets have been in a steady decline since Ken Hitchcock was fired.

Posted by fernben8 on October 21, 2011 at 11:09 PM

Gotta love the spunk of Dorsett...almost always taking on bigger opponents. Ericsson shows he can take care of himself occasionally. Slightest edge to Ericson for being the busier of the two.

Posted by kronvallizer78 on October 22, 2011 at 06:58 AM

Big E cleaned Dorsett`s clock.

Posted by haleymonster138 on October 24, 2011 at 05:55 PM

Derek Dorsett has taken some serious beatings over the last couple of years. This one wasn't so bad, but he rarely seems to dominate and picks fights with much bigger guys.

Posted by koolpunch on October 21, 2011 at 11:36 PM

Ericsson landing some while using a straight arm to force Dorsett into shadow boxing...

Posted by DARCY T on October 22, 2011 at 07:35 AM

ericsson already showed he possesses at least little bit of fighting skills in the past.his long reach advantage was hard to overcome for much smaller dorsett.win ericsson but dorsett didnt make it easy for him...gave it 6

Posted by tattooedkingpin on October 22, 2011 at 10:24 PM

Good Win for Big E. hes much improved. needs to keep this up

Posted by rocky 1 on October 23, 2011 at 06:21 PM

Listen to the announcers yapping about Dorsett getting his team jump started.Yeh like where is the ejection seat!Dorsett took on a guy too large and he just couldn,t reach the big Swede who beat the German Schnitzle out of him!

Posted by hal29 on October 23, 2011 at 06:17 PM

Easy win for Ericsson. So are the Red Wings actually going to fight this year. I am almost speechless. Behn I hope they make you proud this year. I think their nuts have finally dropped and they have become men...wooo hoooo!

Posted by bruins rule on October 23, 2011 at 09:17 AM

jonathan gets the win in this fight.

Posted by Don Berry on October 22, 2011 at 10:39 AM

Go Wings! They never fight. Dorsett again, needs to do this to stick around but is so small and not a good fighter.

Posted by sedinfan on October 23, 2011 at 12:30 AM

That was too much fun, A Red Wing winning a fight and Dorsett getting hammered.

Posted by Harpie on October 22, 2011 at 07:17 AM

Glad to see Big E will drop the gloves if he has to. People should realize though that skilled teams don't rely on having their players fight. I'm not opposed to fighting in the game, I'd just rather see the Wings continuing to throw pucks at the net than fists at wankers.

Posted by joney on October 22, 2011 at 09:17 AM

I like Ericsson. He probably one of the best Scandinavian fighters when it comes to the technical part. He pretty much gave his opponent grace at the end of the fight which was a bit disappointing not finished the fight by at least a take-down. However, Derek Dorsett deserves cred for going after a guy, lot bigger than him.

Posted by johnnyrock555 on October 22, 2011 at 04:38 PM

I am impressed with both of these guys. I look forward to watching Ericsson take on some bigger guys.

Posted by bephillips on October 22, 2011 at 08:24 AM

Dorsett is a scrappy little guy. Don;t back down kinda guy. He might not have landed a lot of punches, but he is scrappy and should inspire his mates.

Posted by gongermuskegon on October 21, 2011 at 11:52 PM

Big E answered the bell in a big big way...Blue collar is coming back to the D in a big big way. Big E and a "child please" 6

Posted by FightsOfHockey on October 21, 2011 at 10:59 PM

ericsson lands way more

Posted by lumpy50 on October 21, 2011 at 10:16 PM

Someone for Detroit has to fight. Good on Big E and good on Dorsett for keeping at it.

Posted by Mr T on October 22, 2011 at 02:27 PM

Dorsett being out classed by size really hung in there

Posted by OrpikFan01 on October 22, 2011 at 09:33 AM

Ericsson, what is he doing fighting a guy that small. Dorsett, what is he doing fighting a guy that big. For such a lopsided size diffrence I thought dorsett really held his own. Ericsson was definetly the winner though!

Posted by RedWings90 on October 22, 2011 at 08:09 PM

Wings finally showing some grit. I like it.

Posted by anklebanger2 on March 18, 2012 at 07:46 PM

Ericsson used his reach and height in that one

Posted by kimo_coyote on October 22, 2011 at 01:50 PM

Ericsson with win but plus for Dorsett taking care of his own business.

Posted by Double Nickels on November 06, 2011 at 07:13 AM

As Dorsett's girlfriend is always reminding him, "size matters".

Posted by GreatMurray on October 24, 2011 at 08:42 PM

Ericsson is still learning...but the Wings really need a guy that can step in when someone runs at their stars. He easily mauls a very game Dorsett in this one. Not a TKO but a 2 point round for sure.

Posted by borq646 on October 22, 2011 at 03:51 PM

Love guys that take on Big E because he's from Sweden and think he's a pussy. Not so much. Tyrone, you say Ericsson can't handle anyone over 6'2. He rag dolled Corey Perry.

Posted by Jordybats99 on December 18, 2016 at 02:27 PM

Good fight. Edger Ericsson.

Posted by CMeadeWings on October 24, 2011 at 07:37 PM

Reach was just too much for Dorsett, great heart by him but obvious win by the Big Swede.

Posted by Jsayen on October 22, 2011 at 10:41 AM

Give credit to Dorsett for trying to fire up his team and dropping the mitts with the big Swed. Easy win for Ericsson, and I feel bad for Dorsetts left ear because it has to still be ringing after he got clocked with 5 to 6 solid rights...

Posted by 25Pens45 on October 22, 2011 at 01:00 PM

Slight edge to Ericsson here. Dorsett is a tough little man with a lot of heart. I thought he handled himself well against a much larger opponent. Plus, Ericsson hardly landed anything despite his reach advantage.

Posted by thebigbea55 on October 21, 2011 at 10:27 PM

good job for ericsson.. not known for fighting.. and i hate dorsett, this guy takes long run at ppl every game..

Posted by hncreature on October 22, 2011 at 08:36 AM

The reach wins it for Ericsson.

Posted by travist on October 21, 2011 at 11:45 PM

W for Reach

Posted by kkdowning on October 21, 2011 at 11:32 PM

Ericson dominated. The tale of the tape indicated a 15 pound difference -- it looked more like 25

Posted by SteelCappedSkin on October 23, 2011 at 09:45 AM

Win for Ericsson here...Gotta give alot of credit to Dorsett for the heart he showed when he asked this big fella "Ya wanna go?" Not many big hits for a 5" reach advantage

Posted by chad420 on October 23, 2011 at 08:46 AM

win Leif Ericksson

Posted by PigIron on October 22, 2011 at 06:48 PM

Reach: Dorsett: 50 in Erisson: 232 in Ha! W for Ericcson - but hey, props to Dorsett for not turning away! (Well, he was trying to turn away - but that da$n reach kept popping him!)

Posted by muskokadangler on October 23, 2011 at 02:03 AM

Tough to get inside that reach but it was all Ericsson and to be honest Dorsett's lucky he didn't get Creamed

Posted by Big_Fat_Dan on October 22, 2011 at 05:35 AM

Good tilt, i would like to Ericsson drop um a little more, did well.

Posted by durka on October 22, 2011 at 11:03 PM

and dorsett calls himself a fighter

Posted by FHgrad99 on October 22, 2011 at 02:26 AM

Derek Dorsett is fearless but Ericsson was just too big for him to handle and Ericsson's reach advantage was the difference in this one.

Posted by jschroe14 on October 23, 2011 at 07:25 PM

Not close, Ericsson by a mile. Dorsett wins as many fights as the Jackets win games, not many.

Posted by dutchman on October 22, 2011 at 12:28 PM

what??? 2 fights for the wings in 5 games?
