That has got to be the best Dorsett has felt after a fight in ages.

Posted by King of Goons on January 28, 2016 at 10:51 AM

God, these Refs suck! This was a really good fight that could have been a great one if the zebra bozo's didn't step in and break it up. It looked like both of these guys had a lot left and still were eager to throw. This was still the best fight I've seen all year. I don't like either one of these clowns either, but give credit where it's due. Awesome draw.

Heyyo! There's a fight! Watching Bass' fights in the AHL and knowing Dorsett well, I figured Bass would dominate here But Dorsett has always had a great chin and could throw bombs himself These guys abandoned the defense towards the end And it was fantastic Good job, fellas. We need more scraps like this This is probably the fight of the year so far Which isn't saying much...

Watching how close the zebras were in this bout (and others), waiting for one of them to get KO'd by a wild hay-maker. Keeping their hands on the shoulders of the combatants may not be the most brilliant tactic to take ....

Posted by woolly mammoth on January 27, 2016 at 01:29 AM

I thought that this was a magic trick because the same person popped his head out of two different jerseys from two different bodies.

Posted by Great Murray on January 27, 2016 at 09:39 AM

I can't get to an 8 in this one but I loved the fight anyway. They both got their jack hammers running but only landed a few....but fun to watch. The cool part was that they grinned at each other when they skated off.

Nice bout. It's good to see Bass up in the "bigs", I always liked him down in the AHL. Good draw - but I think Bass would win 7 out of 10.

Posted by BennyD on January 27, 2016 at 10:55 AM

Wonder why the refs jumped in so quick. Seemed like they both had some gas in the tank. Nice tilt, 7 and a draw.

Posted by English_Bruin on January 28, 2016 at 12:49 PM

Heads down, throw and hope for the best. Fair play to both, gave it a draw for their fine effort

Posted by bigmike53 on January 27, 2016 at 01:34 AM

Good old school scrap. Both guys knew what they wanted and went for it. Close tilt and I'm going with a Draw.

Posted by thepiratemorgan on February 02, 2016 at 04:06 PM

Some good exchanges here.

Posted by DARCY T on February 01, 2016 at 10:07 AM

just when i thought about dorsett that he is not what he used to be in fights he come with this fight.i expected bass to win but this was good old school toe-2-toe draw.i call it a draw coz its tough to say who landed what even though it looks like dorsett might have landed couple more or cleaner punches

Posted by pooleyacht on January 27, 2016 at 09:59 AM

Great tilt! Even though Bass still had his helmet on, Dorsett made the most of it and punished him with a few. Love it.

Posted by brad houghton on January 27, 2016 at 05:51 AM

Nice exchange at the end.....hard fought draw.

Posted by boldbilly on January 27, 2016 at 06:05 AM

I hate to say it because he is such a douche.....but I think Dorsett has the slight edge....... Good scrap with intense exchanges at one point Bass wobbles but then comes back with a flurry.... Scored it an 8 and finally went draw

Posted by abadjoke88 on January 27, 2016 at 04:09 PM

Great tilt here, draw.

Posted by SURESHOT27 on January 28, 2016 at 10:58 AM

Great fight. All smiles at the end...love it!! Draw

Posted by nickyfotiu on February 02, 2016 at 02:52 PM

Excellent scrap. Slight edge to Dorsett but that was mildly exhilarating.

Posted by EK65 on January 27, 2016 at 12:32 PM

Wow! There hasn't been anything close to this good all year yet. What a scrap Both guys throw and both guys take then both guys skate away with smiles. FOTY 8 & Draw

Posted by aygc271 on February 10, 2016 at 01:56 PM

Two former ghosts of Blue Jackets goon ridden past dropping the mitts. I consider myself to have a phD in Dorsett fights. I'm with you guys, the refs broke this up way too soon. I know when helmets are off they are supposed to break it up immediately, but damn. It was just going rock em sock em when they did. Too close to tell, this is like the Orson Welles of 2015-16 fights.

Posted by Rob Peterson on January 28, 2016 at 07:03 PM

A spirited scrap...probably the most intense fight so far this season.

Posted by rangerfantwins on February 03, 2016 at 05:30 PM

good bout

Posted by pjbartell on February 02, 2016 at 11:56 AM

Great fight. These guys both went very hard. Too bad the jersey went over the head and they ended it. Great to see Dorsett give Bass a chance to throw down early in his NHL career. Looked some great mutual respect between them after.

Posted by Nashvillewayne on January 27, 2016 at 09:29 PM

Good fight. Bass is a tough kid.

Posted by chancedawg on January 27, 2016 at 05:47 AM

Draw-a bout of bad intentions!

Posted by shawn46 on January 27, 2016 at 11:18 AM

Couple of old CBJ's recallin the fun times they had in Columbus. Wanted to say Bass... but since it was worth watchin the forced commercial I call it a draw.

Posted by Snobalt on February 07, 2016 at 05:08 AM

Best fight you'll see all season.

Posted by rocky 1 on January 27, 2016 at 01:27 AM

Good middleweight bout with Dorsett winning with a few more landing punches!

Posted by Victoriouslion on January 31, 2016 at 10:02 PM

Dorsett did a good job mixing it up using both hands in a fairly decent and spirited bout. Give him a slight edge and the fight an 8.

Posted by Peahead on February 02, 2016 at 02:22 PM

Great fight, with the edge to Dorsett for the early lefts and then wobbling Bass near the end. No shame for Bass in a spirited bout with intent to injure on both sides. A rare toe-to-toe exchange.

Posted by Jellyczar on January 29, 2016 at 09:03 AM

I give the edge to Double D.... Who is now a better fighter than he was 10 years ago. If the linesmen would have let his continue, could've been an 8 or a 9,,

Posted by Mikemd83 on February 01, 2016 at 10:13 PM

Dorsett's never afraid to throw 'em. I'll give him the decision in a solid bout from both

Posted by Westcoast_Goon on January 30, 2016 at 10:22 PM

Wow...some pistons going in this one. Edge Dorsett

Posted by Rambler on January 27, 2016 at 12:54 AM

Great scrap for both fighter considering they are middle weight. Good to see they can both slug it out. Slight edge to Dorsett even without his helmet.

Posted by FaxCap on January 27, 2016 at 11:42 PM

I have to give Dorsett a very very slight win here.....part of me wants to call it a draw but when they started really throwing them nose to nose Dorsett got more in.

Posted by riffraff on January 27, 2016 at 09:22 AM

Great scrap. Solid 8 Easily Derek dorsetts best fight and I'm giving him the edge in this one.

Posted by whaleoil on January 28, 2016 at 02:37 AM

Slight edge to DD.

Posted by Hilaker on January 27, 2016 at 11:45 PM

Great fight. I went with DD based on a better start and landing a real nice jab that seemed to stagger Bass. Very close, very good, intense and probably the fight of the year so far.

Posted by 4on4 on January 27, 2016 at 07:59 AM

Rock 'em, Sock 'em Robots! Edge to Dorsett only because Bass ended the fight early by pulling Dorsett's sweater over his head. Give it an 8.

Posted by reflex604 on January 28, 2016 at 04:17 PM

Slight edge to Dorsett for cleaner shots. Well done boys, good tilt.

Posted by dposey on February 02, 2016 at 01:58 PM

I've had my fair share of ice "scraps" and there wasn't enough time to take off the opponents helmet quick jabs started flying. Both of these WARRIORS know what they are doing and it was a pleasure to watch.

Posted by kdmaddog on February 02, 2016 at 02:45 PM

Yeah, Dorsett had just started to go all Mike Brown jackhammer when it's inexplicably truncated ... WTF? Fun stuff.

Posted by Jesticle on February 02, 2016 at 04:05 PM

Good fight. Slight edge to Dorsett. In fact, I believe that's the first fight he has won since becoming a Canuck... Where are all the Canuck's haters? It appears people only hate the winning teams, and now the Canuck's are not exactly a winning team ;-)

Posted by slambo on January 27, 2016 at 04:26 AM

foty in my book!!! It looked to me like Dorsett won by the slightest of margins, but could easily have been a draw, or even a slight win for Bass, depending which camera you watch it through... that was what a fight should look like, and I give it a 9!!! Two tough dudes doin' damage like real men...

Posted by WinnipegJets14 on January 27, 2016 at 12:26 AM

Holy that was a good tilt, Edge to Dory

Posted by McGuffin on January 27, 2016 at 07:47 PM

Bass got the better shots in square on the little man's face at the end. Win Bass.

Posted by slysi on February 02, 2016 at 03:44 PM

slight edge to Bass for strikes to head and not to helmet

Posted by Germm on January 27, 2016 at 12:57 AM

Fight of the year? Probably...for now. Great tilt. Edge to Bass.

Posted by Mounty in NC on January 28, 2016 at 04:29 AM

That's one of the best fights I've seen Dorsett in...and he STILL can't win it. Lots of punches thrown but not a lot really landed. I give it a 5 and a draw

Posted by Humper on January 27, 2016 at 11:57 AM

One of the best flurries of reciprocated punches this season. Even if the accuracy wasn't always spot on. Looked like a draw to me.

Posted by kari takko on January 27, 2016 at 06:15 PM

Decent scrap, all smiles in the end.

Posted by SouthPaw017 on January 27, 2016 at 02:35 PM

Old school is right!!! It's about time.

Posted by BruinsAllDaySon on January 27, 2016 at 11:29 AM

Good fight, but I'm not at an 8 like everyone else. So rare to see guys go toe-to-toe these days though.

Posted by travist on February 02, 2016 at 02:39 PM

great stuff!

Posted by FHgrad99 on January 27, 2016 at 05:43 PM

It wasn't a long one but you don't see toe-to-toe fights like that very often nowadays. It started slow but once they got their arms free they were letting them fly. I can't pick a winner here but Dorsett sure seemed to have enjoyed it.

Posted by kkdowning on January 27, 2016 at 08:39 AM

Madhouse and Bold Billy sum it up nicely

Posted by Rangeley_blkbear on February 01, 2016 at 08:42 AM

Dorsett is lucky that got ended so quickly... draw and kudos to both for not playing defense.

Posted by djh700 on January 26, 2016 at 10:47 PM

Fantastic fight, watched it a few times now and it looks like Dirsett landed the cleaner shots. Slightest edge to him. Might be the best NHL scrap this year. Old school toe to toe.

Posted by moelemay on January 27, 2016 at 02:05 AM

great fight, hard to see at first what was landing but good for Dorsett to take some bombs right on the chin. Reminds me of old Rypien v. Prust fights. Nice to see...

Posted by claire alexande on January 28, 2016 at 03:26 PM

Slight edge to Bass. Good scrap for sure. A few more like this and Megatits will be skating in a beer league in rural Saskatchewan with a perma-"huh?" expression pasted on his face.

Posted by hok1n on January 27, 2016 at 11:42 AM

Finally a decent fight. But I'm guessing we got some Vancouver people on the site. I don't see how you could walk up to either guy and say you lost that fight. Maybe an edge to Bass. Sorry re watched and after he pulled the jersey over his head... win for Bass. If the refs, jump in to save you...... We'll you lost

Posted by cooldaddy on January 27, 2016 at 12:54 AM

Great fight. Lots of punches thrown. Have to give it a draw. Good job to both.
