I hate to say this but i think the moderator of the fight overrated this fight. There were about 3 punches that were bulls-eye shots flush on the face. Other than that, many of the punches were just punches to the back of the head.

Posted by jbaker3924 on November 26, 2008 at 10:04 PM

Draw.

Posted by LAKINGSNUT on November 27, 2008 at 04:28 AM

What a great fight!!! Draw!

Posted by dcmac on November 26, 2008 at 11:19 PM

Good tilt back and forth was a draw in my eyes. Turn off the sound and watch what really happens, both guys banged and each got in some hard shots.

Posted by robby g on November 27, 2008 at 04:27 PM

good leather thrown by both, carcillo early, dorsett late. power is lacking with both , though

Posted by Art24 on November 27, 2008 at 01:37 PM

Posted by J.R. Abel on November 26, 2008 at 10:34 PM

Great middleweight bout. Too close to call a winner. Watched it 5 times and can't say either guy did enough to squeak out the win. Gonna call it a draw and wait for the rematch.

Posted by Muscles on December 15, 2008 at 06:01 PM

Good scrap. Carcillo can throw and take a punch, although I think if he hit my 10 year old sister square in the jaw with his 10 hardest haymakers, he couldn't knock her over.

Posted by Tatt00edSean on November 27, 2008 at 06:13 AM

That was a solid most excellent draw. Anyone giving a solid win to either must be watching something else.

Posted by AdmiralsCaptain on November 26, 2008 at 11:31 PM

I'm not sure how the majority thinks Dorsett won this. Hit the mute button to cut out the homerism. Great, EVEN fight here. Loved the ferocity and passion in this bout.

My favorite fight so far this year, hands down!

Posted by brad houghton on November 27, 2008 at 10:07 AM

ok now that's a hockey fight.....1:20 second marathon bout......this is the FOTY so far IMHO.....i am going to call it a draw and say if there's a winner its the fans well done boys...hope they keep the 5'11" Dorsett up in the show because he deserves it after this effort

That fight was awesome. And both guys landed several shots. Had to call this one a draw.

Posted by dunno on November 27, 2008 at 02:08 AM

great fight. draw. for the record carcillo didnt get dropped by the left hand as they said.. he slipped and dorsett missed both shots

Posted by kingjeff on November 28, 2008 at 08:16 PM

That was sweet, both guys took huge shots and kept coming back. Both guys threw good flurries of punches.

Posted by Enfrcr77 on November 27, 2008 at 03:13 PM

awesome fight... 2nd best fight of the year behind the cote and godard fight. Had to give this one a draw.

Posted by Blackhawk23 on November 27, 2008 at 02:50 AM

WOW! what a back and forth fight. I had to give that a draw both guys landed a few good ones. Carcillo is really gonna ba good, he can fight, hit, score and take people off there game. Dorsett looks like he will be the same but not as good a point producer.

Posted by bruiser11 on November 27, 2008 at 11:52 AM

to me, the best one of the year so far is right here.

Fight of the year so far in my opinion. Both guys threw and landed lots. Wow.

Posted by Jake98 on November 27, 2008 at 02:35 AM

What a fight?? Man there was some energy

Posted by Lister100 on November 27, 2008 at 09:59 AM

Draw, agree that the announcer had pompoms and I don't care about either team or player. They both scored great shots and Carcillo might have scored his best one when he fell. They're both are going to feel this one in the morning.

Posted by Bruins29 on November 27, 2008 at 11:53 AM

Great toe to toe battle. Draw.

Posted by Seabass8 on November 28, 2008 at 02:36 PM

Posted by Behn Wilson on November 27, 2008 at 06:23 PM

Fight of the year, so far! And between two guys, I don't usually even care for! Best series of intro shots I've seen in a long time, by Carcillo, followed by a host of different suprise counter attacks by Dorsett. Friggin awesome! That's the way it's done. Had to call it a draw out of mutual respect for the stamina of both guys.

Posted by joeye4 on November 27, 2008 at 08:42 AM

Great Fight! These guys were really working and fearless. Very entertaining. No edge from my end. Just a great job by both players.

Posted by forsberg21 on November 27, 2008 at 04:55 PM

Speechless. That was a battle for the ages!

Posted by ghjkfdhgfd on December 02, 2013 at 02:10 AM

DRAW

Posted by joaquin on November 28, 2008 at 04:06 AM

The most amazing thing about these fights is how many direct blows to the face/head these guys can take without going down. Awesome fight. Very gentlemanly of both players to take off the helmets. Dorsett may have landed one or two more solid shots but I'm still marking it a draw.

Posted by Chaotic8 on November 27, 2008 at 12:08 PM

Probably one of the greatest fights thus far and it will take a lot to surpass this one. Great bombs and determination from both combatants. DRAW but a 10point draw.

awsome!

Posted by Wensinkfan on November 28, 2008 at 05:40 PM

This is what I like to see in hockey fights. Just think in the good ol' days there could be two or even three of these going on at once! Both players were swinging for each others heads non stop. Think about that when people talk about penalties and suspensions for head shots in game action. Let them go I say! This was the best fight I've seen in a while. Both won in this one with a great show of hockey grudge matches. I loved seeing all the flying fists and the linesmen let them go for as long as they could without getting hit themselves. A great draw!

Posted by djaye on November 27, 2008 at 09:21 AM

FOTY canidate

Posted by DeboDaddy on November 27, 2008 at 10:42 AM

Great fight. I voted it a draw. Carcillo landed what looked to be harder punches, but Dorsett seemed to land more. Definite FOTY nominee

Posted by Beowulf58 on November 27, 2008 at 09:52 AM

Now this is a fight. Lots of punching and little grappling. I gave this one a draw.

Posted by Franchise on November 28, 2008 at 10:32 PM

One of the best fights so far this year. I'd love to give both wins, so I called it a draw. Someone tell the announcers it was Carcillo swinging and missing that made him go down, not a punch. Great fight!!

Posted by oilersfansylvan on November 27, 2008 at 01:59 AM

Zack are you watching....

Posted by amkieffer on November 28, 2008 at 12:07 AM

Too bad Dorsett broke his finger and is gonna be hung up for some time.

Posted by Crocosaur on November 29, 2008 at 11:13 PM

Wow, what a scrap! Both guys were throwing bombs...hard to pick a winner here.

Posted by Goon24 on November 27, 2008 at 01:06 PM

VERY good fight the best ive seen this year better then the barch and may fight last year very good job by both guys. Carcillo got Dorsett a good one on the cheek right at the beginning.

Best fight of the year so far for me.

Posted by b.t.wilson on November 26, 2008 at 10:13 PM

What a terrific fight, kept going and going and making me happier and happier. I vote it a draw, both never gave up and both kept throwing.

Posted by MNBonecrusher on November 28, 2008 at 05:25 PM

AWESOME!!! This is one of the best fights I have ever seen. Both throwing bombs from start to finish. No winner here, clear draw and props to both combatants!!

Posted by staceyb on November 27, 2008 at 06:26 AM

Now that is what I call a hockey fight! Carcillo did as expected, but man that kid Dorsett hung in there and gave it right back after taking a couple of broadside wallops to the jaw. Fight of the year so far!

Posted by Flyers0292 on November 29, 2008 at 04:59 PM

Fight of the year so far

Posted by pasta on November 27, 2008 at 12:42 AM

American commentary sucks. It makes you wonder if they were actually watching the fight. Dorsett didn't land a left at the end. Carcillo lost his balance. They refs came in because the fight lasted a long time. Regardless, a great fight. Exactly what you would expect from Carcillo. And now I am officially a fan of Dorsett. Draw.

Posted by turdel on November 28, 2008 at 12:30 PM

Great fight defiantly my choice for fight of the year... So far The passion and determination showed by both fighters is what makes hockey so great.

Posted by tank10 on November 27, 2008 at 10:50 PM

For sure the top fight so far this season.

Posted by adambomb13 on November 27, 2008 at 06:46 AM

WOW !!!!!!! Fight of the year, I'll watch this one 10,000 times. Old school bomb throwing with each gladiator landing jackhammer blows. My shorts are crazy glued to my abdomen after this one !

Posted by jodan111 on November 27, 2008 at 02:13 AM

FOY candidate here!!! Now that is what we like to see. I call it a draw. Dorsett is busier, controls much of the fight and lands some great shots. But Carcillo seems to land more as well as the harder shots. Not sure what happens at the end here. But I am pretty sure the CBJ announcer gets it wrong when he says "He (DD) dropped 'em with a left there!".

Posted by blackgoldfan on November 27, 2008 at 08:03 PM

ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Fing great show.

Posted by scottythecynic on November 26, 2008 at 10:22 PM

What a hockey fight should be - punches, not hugging. Great bout worthy of honor and impossible to declare either a winner or a loser.

Posted by kimocoyote on November 27, 2008 at 10:49 AM

This fight was back and forth. End the end Carcillo landed some head shots on Dorsett who started to "Turtle" I would call it a draw. IOnly comment was Carcillo went to pentalty box and Dorsett went to the locker room and stayed until the next period. So you can figure who won on your own.

Posted by cmshort11 on November 27, 2008 at 12:50 AM

What a scrap, Carcillo early then Dorsett then Carcillo then Dorsett again, helluva scrap gotta call it a draw.

Posted by BSTnougat on December 14, 2008 at 10:35 PM

Havent seen a better fight all year. How Dorsett took that first barrage is unbelievable. They both landed huge ones

Posted by fightmeister77 on November 27, 2008 at 11:48 AM

Great fight. Reminds of the fights from the 70's and 80's.

Posted by sabersfan4life on November 27, 2008 at 07:28 PM

what an fight toe to toe action great fight to both carcillo and dorsett does not get any better than that.

Posted by hackett42 on November 29, 2008 at 05:04 PM

Un-freaking-believable. That was the best I've seen in some time.

Posted by kevindman9 on November 27, 2008 at 09:45 AM

dorsett won hands down

Posted by Gunslinger on November 27, 2008 at 05:28 AM

Great fight that alot of heavy's could learn from. Very entertaining bout with lots thrown and alot caught. I give the edge to Dorsett for landing the harder shots.

Posted by Maggie3and Me on November 26, 2008 at 11:37 PM

Has to be one of the best of the year. For anyone who asks what happened to old toe to toe hockey fights, look no further Both threw em, both took em, then threw some more. From start to finish non stop action. Dorsett lands at the end and takes the W. Hell of an effort by both.

Posted by Ortmeyer on November 27, 2008 at 10:48 PM

Gotta love western conference hockey.

Posted by paddyd on November 27, 2008 at 01:11 PM

Danny boy gets his ears pinned back!

Posted by ron_darraugh on November 27, 2008 at 08:54 AM

Great tilt there, lads. I've gotta give 'er to Dorsett though. It looked like he had control longer in this fight and didn't hold back trying to avoid shots like Carcillo did. Plus, he had Carcillo off balance more than once and the shots that Carcillo started throwing wildly at the end of the fight only connected with the back of Dorsett's head and shoulders; a desperation move as the refs moved in. To the obviously American announcers...please don't call hockey players "gamers" ever again. That is all. :]

Posted by billy jack on November 26, 2008 at 11:01 PM

the western leauger won this great tilt, nasty must of gave dorsett some pointers,ah hell that might even be a draw, but they sure left it on the ice, took no prisoners.

Posted by Dampland on November 27, 2008 at 09:35 AM

Good scrap. Not so much of that pansy grab and hold we see from so many other "fighters"

Posted by michigan on November 29, 2008 at 08:57 PM

good solid fight slight edge to dorsett

Posted by QUIGGS22 on November 27, 2008 at 02:35 PM

Great fight win Dorsett.

Posted by RykerHC on November 27, 2008 at 05:35 AM

That was a good one. Very energetic, not much sleeve tugging, just blow after blow. A slight edge to Dorsett who landed the better punches.

Posted by dukeofearle on November 27, 2008 at 09:19 PM

Great scrap, Had it as a draw untill that last flurry from Dorsett took down Danny. what a Beaut.

Posted by redwingrocket on November 26, 2008 at 10:31 PM

WOW. Dorsett landed so many KO punches but Carcillo would not go down till the end. I laughed so hard with the first phantom punch Carcillo threw.

Posted by rugby on November 27, 2008 at 12:29 PM

I think Dorsett landed more and better quality, may have surprised Carcillo with his ability to throw with both hands. Very entertaining. I would like to see Rypien get healthy again and take on Dorsett, (went with Carcillo already and won) in a middleweight battle.

Posted by potvin44 on November 27, 2008 at 11:54 AM

wow very good bout...sure contender for the fight of the year !

Posted by scooter231 on November 26, 2008 at 10:23 PM

One of the best fights so far. I would give the edge to Dorsett. He landed the better shots, but a close fight.

Posted by PHoward on March 23, 2009 at 03:23 PM

FOTY so far

Posted by darylfowler on December 24, 2009 at 02:36 PM

wow awesome!!

Posted by Bloodbank on November 28, 2008 at 01:56 AM

Very slight edge to Dorsett for dropping Carcillo at the end. This was going to be a draw.

Posted by slshbleed on November 27, 2008 at 12:26 PM

Fight of the year so far! Carcillo has a knack for getting a quick punch in before they grab a hold. A lot of people try this and miss ending up off balance. I think they both landed about an equal number of shots. Dorsett landed the better shots. Slight edge to Dorsett. You can make a case for scoring this one win lose or draw.

Posted by CBJ_FAN on November 26, 2008 at 11:25 PM

Dorsett broke his hand and is now out indefinitely. I'll vote for the guy that landed the most quality punches. Win to Dorsett.

Posted by cnypete on November 26, 2008 at 11:15 PM

Dorsett with the W. Props to Carcillo for being able to take (& give) a punch. The heavyweights are fun to watch, but these guys got busy fast & kept at it. I believe Dorsett was right up there in PIM before he got caught in the numbers game and came back down to Syracuse (didn't have to clear waivers).

Posted by SCOTTSO on November 27, 2008 at 07:46 AM

GREAT SCRAP,FIRST REAL GOOD ONE IN A WHILE,YEAR GOT OFF TO A GREAT START AS FAR AS QUALITY FIGHTS GO,BUT THERES BEEN A LULL LATELY,LETS HOPE THIS IS THE CATALYST FOR SOME GOOD HOLIDAY FEAR

Posted by lakingsfan19 on November 27, 2008 at 07:30 PM

I gave the edge to dorsett he landed more clean punches! great bout by both.

Posted by phatslover on November 26, 2008 at 10:37 PM

Holy crap, what a fight. I love it when 2 guys look at each other and take their lids off to scrap instead of those guys who grab each other right away and start hugging. Loved it. Fight was close, but I'll give it to Dorsett.

Posted by Dovermv on November 30, 2008 at 05:08 PM

FIGHT OF THE YEAR EASY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Jellyczar on November 28, 2008 at 10:04 AM

Posted by alexellatino on November 27, 2008 at 08:08 PM

A hell of a fight even if there not heavyheight that was crazy

Posted by siouxfan1 on November 29, 2008 at 12:13 PM

I disagree with it being a draw. It was a great fight one of the best in a long time. But I believe Dorsett got a few more and better punches in and not a TKO or KO but a win for Dorsett anyway on points!!

Posted by chl37 on November 28, 2008 at 01:09 PM

TKO, win dorsett. great fight, they way a fight outta be. toss the helmets and throw some bombs. so many pseudo "tough guys" in the league could learn a lot from this middleweight fight.

Posted by IrishBrawler on November 26, 2008 at 10:36 PM

One of the best fights I've seen all year. They threw bombs for a while.

Posted by BooSanta on November 28, 2008 at 03:26 PM

DD survives the first DC right that shook his head quite vigoriously. Carcillo usually uses his left for staright arm grasping, so Dorsett suddenly gets the advantage by throwing rights that won't reach then blasting Carcillo with lefts. When DD lands his best, DC then gets an advantage back with overhand rights but they don't land flush. DC does get in a right cross or 2. I almost lost count on the punchstat here. The fact that DD can land both lefts and rights gave him the edge in the end. Looked like they both missed when Dc went off balance with two of the hardest thrown shots in their bout. This is certainly a thanksgiving fist feast and one of the best scraps this year! One hopes to see DD take on other season middleweights.

Posted by germxv on November 27, 2008 at 10:57 AM

Both players showed up for this one. This fight had great offense and believe it or not, great defense. The offense was just that much better though. Good to see them remove the lids before they got started. Good to see the linesmen stay out of the mix until it was necessary. Textbook all the way around.

Posted by Caniac2630 on December 01, 2008 at 11:31 PM

I was at this game and just got home from being out of town and back to my computer to watch it from a better angle. Awesome fight. It went forever. I loved it. I put Dorsett with the win with the final knockdown and better punches landed, but GREAT FIGHT!!!!

Posted by bukihockey on November 26, 2008 at 11:37 PM

Not often do you see a player come on the ice for a shift and go right to a guy, throwing down on the way. Dorsett took a few more shots, but landed more quality shots. Now he's put on IR with a hand injury. Slight edge to Dorsett for overall toughness. That's how a hockey fight should be!

Posted by BlueJacketFan61 on November 27, 2008 at 01:07 AM

Watch your ass if you mess with the BJ's cause Dorsett will kick it!

Posted by jacketsfan61 on December 01, 2008 at 07:34 PM

Dorsett clear winner here... comes back after taking a few and doesn't try and tie-up, unlike carcillo... Also heard Dorsett broke his right hand half way threw and just went lefty... unreal.

Posted by Leafs2006 on November 28, 2008 at 04:55 PM

Dorkshit barely landed any, i give an edge to Carcillo

Posted by eadamson on November 28, 2008 at 02:08 PM

Lots of flailing after the first 20 seconds... don't agree about the "fight of the year" thing... but pretty entertaining. Edge to Carcillo for the solid hits at the beginning.

Posted by Dell on November 28, 2008 at 09:41 PM

Great fight!! Edge to Carcillo on the last punch. They are both entertaining!

Posted by grappler11 on November 28, 2008 at 04:33 PM

very good job by both. EDGE CArcillo winning on the points.

Posted by hao chi on November 26, 2008 at 10:07 PM

Dorsett left the game with an injury from the fight, so Carcillo gets the win. Very close fight though.

Posted by aces50 on November 27, 2008 at 05:30 AM

Carcillo by a bit. DC connected with more shots than DD. Great fight but have to give it to DC. Danny loses his balance was the only thing he did badly in the fight.

Posted by DARCY T on November 30, 2008 at 05:20 PM

nearly domination by carcillo.dorsett was fighting like a cat with claws

Posted by mlesin on November 28, 2008 at 06:35 PM

Carcillo with more shots but Dorsett may have landed the 2 best shots. Really good scrap.

Posted by Pickle2728 on November 30, 2008 at 10:51 AM

Awesome tilt between 2 decent fighters. Both landed nice shots throughout but Carcillo started fast & landed a big right at the end. Very close. WIN = Carcillo

Posted by gollybass on November 27, 2008 at 03:39 PM

definate homer commentators on the phoenix broadcast the replays told the real tale carcillo landing more. either way really close great fight

FOTY candidate great exchange i sure enjoyed it

Posted by Old School on November 30, 2008 at 11:25 PM

I was at the game, blue line, 12 rows up. From the "live" perspective, it was all DC. It seemed much more violent in person and the crowd seemed a bit taken aback that DD got physically moved around the ice and seemingly rag-dolled. The TV announces (who are both Canadian and not "American" as some posters have implied - Jeff Rimer from Toronto and Danny Gare from Nelson, BC and NHL All-Star with Sabers) make it seem closer as homers, but it wasn't that close. The PHX bench was also more pumped after the fight and the CBUS bench appreciated the tilt, but was a bit more subdued, again evidencing the "live" perspective of a DC win. DD busted up his hand and thus loses his ticket to the Show. It wasn't Probert Coxe, but a nice moderday tilt.

Carcillo with a slight edge here. Typical homer commentator saying Dorsett clocked him with a left at the end. Not one of those lefts connected. However, Carcillo's wild right connected. Didn't hear them talking about that. Great scrap.

Posted by craighead on November 28, 2008 at 11:44 AM

i dont now why some people are giving this to dorsett he got tagged a couple of times right at the beginning, then took a flurry of punches in the middle and received the best punch of the fight at the end, edge carcillo

Posted by plum29 on November 26, 2008 at 11:31 PM

fight of the year candidate? Carcillo almost dropped Dorsett with the 1st right hand, after that, Dorsett takes over, then Carcillo, great fight. big shots all around but i think Carcillo won this fight, not by much, but i think he shots were bigger.

Posted by Warx on November 27, 2008 at 04:33 PM

Great scrap, take note huggers

Posted by hordichuk420 on November 27, 2008 at 12:59 PM

Very great fight. Love that first flurry by Danny and love him coming on strong at the end. Love Derek's calm clean shots.

Posted by wingnut2457 on November 29, 2008 at 12:19 PM

Im' guessing alot of the voters went with Dorsett cus of the ignorant analyst saying he dropped him with the left. The last punch landed was by Carcillo and it threw him off balance. Slight edge to Carcillo for landing the first and last solid punches of the srap.

Posted by Buckster on November 27, 2008 at 01:33 PM

Great tilt ,dorsett more shots , carcillo the better ones, edge carcillo

Posted by dr00r00 on November 28, 2008 at 11:47 AM

The announcer stated that Dorsett Dropped Carcillo at the end. I watched it over and over...he did not. Carcillo slipped. Great bout but I give it to Carcillo. Big points to Dorsett though. I saw him for the first time at the Thashers/Jackets game and he struck me as all yap then. I guess he wants to stay in the big leagues pretty bad. That passion will keep him there. But no, if you think he won this then stop being a homer and just admit it when you boy gets pounded...and it will happen.

Posted by Ceejay on November 28, 2008 at 02:10 PM

Nice fight. Good to see both actually willing to punch. Almost looked like the edge going to Dorsett, but a draw seems fair.

Posted by perezj on December 16, 2009 at 08:51 PM

Good to see Carcillo get his ass kicked; dirty player...

Posted by Dangshnizzle on November 06, 2017 at 04:45 PM

Props to both for neither ever falling fully out of it. Pure determination. Gotta go with Carcillo though if I had to choose one, but it was too close and has to be a draw

Posted by pattyd on November 29, 2008 at 05:46 PM

Carcillo gets the win here but very close. turn down the sound and the homer announcers. DC lands bigger punches.

Posted by Matacz on November 27, 2008 at 03:40 PM

Good fight! Both players landed some heavy punches.

Posted by piney on December 04, 2009 at 07:00 PM

announcers are homers. watch this without the audio. giving the edge to Carcillo

Posted by mjmorrow on November 28, 2008 at 01:08 PM

I know most on these boards hate Carcillo, but I think he took Dorsett in this one.

Posted by BigTot on November 30, 2008 at 04:51 PM

What a FIGHT! Probably the best scrap of the year! Well done boyz!

Posted by wannago_letsgo on November 27, 2008 at 11:15 AM

That was unreal, I thought at the start of that Carcillo stunned him pretty good with a jaw shot and didn't think Dorsett would come back as strong as he did, but returned the favor with a bunch of nice lefts and scored that take down in the end. I don't see how people are voting Dorsett over Carcillo here though I think Carcillo landed the bulk of the shots and was pushing Dorsett around the rink, forget the take down at the end, and really, watch the fight with out the announcers jabbering on about their team. I score this a draw because Dorsett does land fewer shots but they seemed to count more than Carcillo's did.
