Ott's WTF just happened face is great.

Posted by gdameo on February 25, 2011 at 10:21 AM

I don't know how you guys voted for Ericsson. None of his punches landed. It was a crap draw.

Posted by bilbobaggins on February 25, 2011 at 05:41 PM

Ericsson gets marks for wanting to go. He got Ott off balance then kept him there. Couldnt land a punch so no real fight. Ott should be embarrassed but only half as much as Franzen. What a baby. He is definitely floating.

Posted by bhanie on March 08, 2011 at 03:00 PM

WOW!!!!! What a horrible fight!!!!!! Was there even a punch thrown. All of these Detroit homers scoring this a win becuase they actually had a player not getting pounded. I would think anyone could throw someone around like a rad dog if you push and pull them keeping them off balance. Whats with this nerd and the watch Has anyone noticed that there have been two insignificant fights by Dallas Stars players since they got their ass handed to them by the Bruins!!!

Posted by yatyas on February 25, 2011 at 09:02 PM

did Ericsson even land a punch???? What's the win based on most thrown?

Posted by Sapunka16 on February 24, 2011 at 11:43 PM

Ericsson missed his first punch over Ott's head, put a second into his shoulder pad, then took a body shot. Ericsson missed another right over Ott's head, then landed two on the side of Ott's helmet. Ericsson couldn't reach with two as Ott fell down. When Ott got back up, he failed to reach with an uppercut, then fell back down again. Ott couldn't reach with a right, then took Ericsson down and threw two lefts at him as he was falling. Narrow win Ericsson for landing the only two punches of the fight. In an obvious mismatch in fighting experience (Ott has two less FM's during this regular season than Ericsson's entire team), the bigger Ericsson was far more aggressive, kept Ott off-balance, and landed the only punches of the fight.

Posted by jloeb on February 25, 2011 at 12:19 AM

Since when was using your huge size and weight advantage to push someone back and off balance constitute winning a fight? Draw.

Posted by Matxx on February 25, 2011 at 09:19 AM

Holy shit a Red Wing was fighting! I still have to call it a draw, Ericsson didn't land anything except on Ott's helmet and Ott got a couple shots in at the end. Still, much better than we ever see from the Wings.

Posted by rowbearprobear on February 24, 2011 at 10:47 PM

This started when Franzen broke his stick over Ott's back. Erickson steps in to fight for Johan Velcro Turtle Franzen. And I'm a wings homer!!! I was at this game and it was a good time to try to change the momentum. Draw and a 5. Good effort by Erikson!

Posted by tjb1768 on February 26, 2011 at 08:39 PM

Big E should do this a lot more....

Posted by RCKR24 on February 25, 2011 at 10:05 AM

Ott gave up nearly inchs of reach to the bigger Ericsson. Most of the shots Ericsson threw hit the helmet so not many points to that. Props to Ericcson for stepping in for his coward team mate. Props to Ott for fighting someone bigger than him even though he got manhandled. Ericcson wins by out swinging and dragging Ott around.

Posted by orr4president on February 25, 2011 at 03:19 AM

I know its a special occasion because a redwing fought, and i know Ericsson manhandled Ott slightly, but there was no clear winner and the fight wasn't actually that good, draw and a 4

Posted by igalriga on February 24, 2011 at 10:39 PM

Ott loses, but atleast the Stars dominated the Wings tonight!

Posted by PENGUINSCUP09 on February 25, 2011 at 12:48 AM

A fight win in wingland is when their player punches and connects with the opponents "shoulder-pad" ( see slow-mo replay) or lands on top. Yet the last two punches thrown by OTT land flush to the wings face; as he turtles away. Typical of what is considered a "fight" in "NON-DROP-THE-Gloveytown"

Posted by chl37 on February 25, 2011 at 07:46 AM

ott unimpressive with the loss. anyone notice ott rip off his own right elbow pad before the fight started. is that a penalty?

Posted by DARCY T on February 27, 2011 at 10:54 AM

ericsson utilized his size advantage and he was the aggressor in this fight but he didnt land anything.then ott landed a couple lefts and linesmen came to save ericsson...edge ott and gave it 5

Posted by hydr4 on February 25, 2011 at 04:21 AM

A bunch of helmet punches and everyone wants to suck ericsson small shafty

Posted by slavv on February 25, 2011 at 07:18 PM

Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. Ericsson gets the edge with the shoulder strikes...

Posted by ScarbroSaint on February 25, 2011 at 10:37 AM

Otter is a rat that should be swimmin in the cat tails ...Belly up Tuck ur chin behind ur shoulder like Roy jones Jr

Posted by tyrone on February 24, 2011 at 10:27 PM

Ott lost. Plain and simple.

Posted by flyerguy on February 25, 2011 at 08:42 AM

Ott is a tool.

Posted by Towmater on February 24, 2011 at 10:30 PM

Ott goes on the run, and then throws some cheap shots at the end. What a puke. Win for J. E.

Posted by Big_Goon on March 04, 2011 at 12:18 PM

Even a blind hog finds an acorn once in awhile. You'd figure Ott would eventually win a fight, not this night...

Posted by One-Punch on February 25, 2011 at 09:00 AM

Hey Detroit management- hear the fans go crazy?? Loudest cheer in the Joe in a while, get a tough guy and make the fans happy! Ericcson with the win, not much landing, and a 5.

Posted by QUIGGS22 on February 25, 2011 at 09:59 AM

Win to the WIng ...Ott should be ashamed of himself with that poor effort against a non-fighter.

Posted by Behn Wilson on February 24, 2011 at 10:29 PM

OK, since it only happens about once every two years, or so... let me just bask in it for a while... Wow, either I just spent one too many days in Amsterdam...... or a Wing just decisively won a fight!!!!????!!!!! A Swedish Wing, nonetheless!!! The Horror!!! How embarrassing for everyone not wearing Red... it may take Ott a while to live this one down. Thanks to the Tattooed one for the heads up.

Posted by loganalec on February 26, 2011 at 12:26 PM

love watching Ott eat knuckles

Posted by riffraff on February 25, 2011 at 12:40 AM

awesome. just awesome first tootoo, now ott, just need a kaleta or avery beatdown

Posted by Bigford83 on February 25, 2011 at 02:05 AM

Whenever I see a Red Wing drop the gloves, I immediately ask myself, "does this guy know what he's doing?" (Justin Abdelkader notwithstanding). The answer, in this case, was yes.

Posted by bawhite on February 25, 2011 at 08:24 PM

Ott was looking for a fight the whole game, probably thinking his stats would go up with a Red Wing opponent. Well, wrong answer. Good job by Ericsson, I wish he would do that more often. I'm sure Downey was sitting up stairs smiling. 5 and win Ericsson.

Posted by staceyb on February 25, 2011 at 05:27 AM

I miss the days when Mickey Redmond would give the fight commentary to the Bruise Brothers, Kocur and Probert.

Posted by bruins rule on February 25, 2011 at 08:53 AM

jonathan gets the win in this fight.

Posted by ghjkfdhgfd on February 24, 2011 at 11:06 PM

2nd win for the wings against ott

Posted by shuckthefarks on February 28, 2011 at 10:05 AM

Two new species just discovered in one being. A fighting Swede! A fighting Wing! Ericsson with a win. Fear the Sedin twins.....

Posted by sulley71 on February 25, 2011 at 12:11 PM

Win for Ericsson, he landed a couple.

Posted by fernben8 on February 25, 2011 at 01:35 AM

I'm guessing Ericsson was complaining about the tape on Ott's wrist...? Ott just about gets rag dolled. Not too many punches but Edge to Ericsson by brut strength.

Posted by Soulcrusher84 on March 16, 2011 at 03:08 AM

Steve Ott got Ragdolled

Posted by Slapshot007 on February 25, 2011 at 02:40 PM

Ericsson with the clear win. The way he rag dolled Ott was very similar to when he did that to Corey Perry.

Posted by efp on February 27, 2011 at 01:40 AM

Ott imploded just like the Stars season is. I guess this is what happens when you have Marc Crawford as a coach. How the hell is he still in the league coaching when there are so many other more capable people out there?

Posted by tocchetblue on February 25, 2011 at 06:21 AM

ott got his head handed to him

Posted by AZfromNJ on February 25, 2011 at 01:44 AM

Ott bites off more than he can chew.....as usual. Big Swede with the easy win.

Posted by BigBadBruins77 on February 27, 2011 at 03:23 PM

good to see Ott get what he deserves. and as always he gave Ericsson a couple of cheap shots on the ground

Posted by Jordybats99 on January 01, 2016 at 01:11 PM

Ericsson With the edge,

Posted by skip101 on February 24, 2011 at 10:47 PM

A solid win for Ericsson. How I miss the days of the bruise brothers

Posted by 2probert4 on February 25, 2011 at 08:13 AM

Ericsson kicked Ott's butt in front of Ott's friends and family.. Whats funny are the Dallas beat writers saying this was a draw....

Posted by b.t.wilson on February 24, 2011 at 10:56 PM

ericsson muscles ott down for the win. real winner? detroit red wings fans, uh, despite the outcome of the game, that is...

Posted by tattooedkingpin on February 24, 2011 at 11:20 PM

i just got a boner

Posted by Detroit_Caps on February 25, 2011 at 05:49 PM

Great job Ericcson! You gotta give that so someone who rarely fights and doesnt win many of those

Posted by kimo_coyote on February 25, 2011 at 02:26 PM

Edge Erricsson, Ott thought he did his usual "catch them at the end of their shift when they're tired" not this time. Surprise Steve.

Posted by sedinfan on February 24, 2011 at 10:55 PM

Ott asked for it and he got it. No real damage but Ott was getting thrown around like a featherweight boxer. great job by Ericsson and fun to watch.

Posted by Bluetiedown44 on February 25, 2011 at 01:39 AM

Entertaining fight for so few punches actually connecting. Ott is obviously the loser here, Ericsson slung him around making it hard for Ott to connect.

Posted by smichaels10 on February 25, 2011 at 12:47 AM

Wings color man Mickey Redmond finished in his pants! You don't see this happen during Wings games so I understand why. Win Ericsson.

Posted by joeman on February 25, 2011 at 10:32 PM

The more seasoned was outmuscled and looking a bit like raddedy andy here. Nice job JE.

Posted by tovar on February 25, 2011 at 03:53 AM

nice job by ericksson

Posted by hairysasquatch on February 25, 2011 at 11:13 PM

Ott is a bitch and no one calls a fight like the Mick!

Posted by mdruh09 on February 24, 2011 at 10:18 PM

Two straight wins against Ott for the Wings. Good job by Ericsson for stepping in for Franzen and taking care of the little punk Ott. Maybe Ott should stop fighting Red Wings players. Win Ericsson.

Posted by GreatMurray on February 25, 2011 at 07:12 AM

Detroit is desparately in need of someone to do this. Every team out there has been running the Wings. If Ericsson can fight a little better he will clean that up. He man handles Ott for the win.

Posted by stevkrause on February 25, 2011 at 09:21 AM

Great showing by Ericsson, man handled Ott and landed more punches, while standing up for a teammate - clear win Ericsson

Posted by RPULTZ on February 25, 2011 at 03:31 PM

Ericsson knocked the snot out of Ott.

Posted by brody005 on February 25, 2011 at 10:03 AM

Okay not only do us Wings fans have to look to a Swed for a fight but our DJ at the Joe SUX!!! Also take note Erisson has a watch on!!! WTF

Posted by cigaros on March 01, 2011 at 01:17 AM

Ott got offed. I liked the move where Ericsson pulls Ott towards him and then punches him in the melon with the same hand.

Posted by redwingsman on February 25, 2011 at 05:54 PM

i love how ericsson pulls him up and is like no you wanted this get back up

Posted by E_S_A_D on February 25, 2011 at 08:26 AM

Ericsson is underrated as a fighter because he rarely does it. He has potential to be a much better fighter and he has a superior reach over most opponents. Ott got manhandled.

Posted by hrngmprd on February 25, 2011 at 12:12 AM

Ott? Ott who? LMAO!! I don't think I have ever seen Ott lose a fight this bad in a few years. Awesome!! And he was BEATEN by a swede!! Even better!!

Posted by ThrowdownSJ408 on February 24, 2011 at 10:43 PM

edge ericsson for landing one on the ear.

Posted by chad420 on February 25, 2011 at 12:06 PM

win Eric the Red

Posted by paniolo on February 25, 2011 at 01:24 PM

How can this be anything but a Draw? Nobody actually landed a punch. Ericsson with a huge size advantage hits the back of the helmet and shoulder pads a couple of times and is able to push Ott around some, but Ott still gets up and hits a few off the back of Ericssons helmet as he goes down too. But with the number of Wing zealots and Ott haters the voting is not surprising.

Posted by Screaming Buffalo on February 25, 2011 at 02:25 AM

When you're 4 inches taller and 30 lbs heavier you should be able to win. Ericsson didn't land anything noteworthy and just used his size to try and manhandle Ott. As soon as Ott starts to get the upperhand Ericsson goes down. It appeared Ericsson was complaining about Ott taking off his eblow pad right before they engaged.

Posted by BritishRedWing on February 26, 2011 at 04:37 PM

Wait, I have to get up off the floor...o.k. I'm fine. Win for Ericsson over the punk Ott.

Posted by travist on February 25, 2011 at 01:36 AM

ott's a dink and detroit needs a fighter.

Posted by muskokadangler on February 24, 2011 at 11:32 PM

Ya that was just what he needed to build confidence....fight someone who fights but isn't a KILLER. Win Ericsson...... now all he has to do is learn how to Land em this was nice to see for many reasons

Posted by Raoul Duke 708 on February 25, 2011 at 05:31 PM

Ott is a punching bag... nothing new here.

Posted by Big_Fat_Dan on February 25, 2011 at 03:17 PM

Maybe this will encourage Ericsson to through them a little more. Good win for Jon.

Posted by danielson06 on February 25, 2011 at 09:47 AM

For a team not known for fighting, but winning Cups, it was considered a pretty good fight and a win...especially against an experienced fighter like Ott. Haters can hate, talk shit, whatever. WINGS FOR LIFE.

Posted by 3-26-97 on February 24, 2011 at 11:26 PM

Tough guy Ott thinks he's about to redeem himself after his loss to Abdelkader earlier, then gets pounded by Ericsson tonight. C'mon SON!

Posted by jimkj on March 04, 2011 at 09:56 AM

Ericsson won ! great to see that Ott got rod, the cheeky cowardly little shit!

Posted by gatgarson on February 25, 2011 at 01:29 PM

Not much landed but that's pretty common in hockey fights. Ericsson was active and Ott was defensive...clear win Ericsson.

Posted by jschroe14 on February 26, 2011 at 08:10 AM

Nice to see Ericsson do some other than turn the puck over in our zone. On top of that he steamrolled Ott!
