Was that Brashear or Cote? What was with the hugging? Bad fight, great game.

Posted by MajorGroove on December 16, 2009 at 02:21 AM

Yeah Hartnell bites and so does this fight.

Posted by David Gutierrez on December 20, 2009 at 01:01 PM

Surprise draw, smart fight for Cote against the much bigger, tougher Godard

Posted by Taubi on December 16, 2009 at 05:09 PM

classic draw, and only a draw.

Posted by Sukoshi84 on December 16, 2009 at 01:30 PM

How the fuk does Gadard win this one ? as usual typical horsesh!t voting on this very biased site..... DRAW

Posted by bruiser11 on December 16, 2009 at 03:28 PM

I'll have to say Cote was game and stayed away pretty well here, but if he was to exchange with Godard it would be an easy win for Godard..Gave this a draw

Posted by C. Alter on December 17, 2009 at 11:33 AM

Lots of punches thrown, but didn't many connect. Amazed that Pittsburgh had that many players willing to fight the thuggish Flyers. Neither goes down & nobody dazed or overwhelmed. A draw.

Posted by jbaktai on December 16, 2009 at 05:57 PM

draw, whoever said godard is the best pound for pound fighter in the nhl is an idiot, prob gotta give that one to rypren REMEBER i said pound for pound. As for heavywights i'd say orr is better mcgratton is better geore laruque and many more, not saying godard is bad i wouldnt put him top 5 best in the nhl.

Posted by mckendo83 on December 16, 2009 at 10:10 AM

I gotta score this one a draw...

Posted by Mikkel H. on December 16, 2009 at 05:28 PM

great fight!

Posted by Bosoxshute on December 16, 2009 at 12:21 AM

Good fight, heavy shots from both guys. not sure how many actually landed. call it a draw

Posted by bloodyknuckles2 on December 17, 2009 at 01:52 AM

Cote hugging on for dear life. Giving God the win just cause of that.

Posted by tyrone on December 18, 2009 at 12:21 AM

Wiley Coyote got schooled. He sux.

Posted by followthecode on December 16, 2009 at 12:45 AM

Didn't see much of nuthin' here, but more of Godard's nuthin' landed than Cote's nuthin'. Edge Godard

Posted by J.R. Abel on December 16, 2009 at 10:39 PM

Giving Godard a VERY slight victory. But not the slugfests these guys usually give us. Credit Cote for his willingness to throw with anyone. He's the only Flyer I can tolerate. Hope the rest get full blown AIDS.

Posted by Behn Wilson on December 16, 2009 at 02:06 AM

After that first monster right zinged by his head, Cote spent the rest of the fight ''hugging'' on for dear life.

Posted by Dave Brown HOF on December 16, 2009 at 08:33 PM

Was that Danzig being played in the background? If so, that's fuckin awesome. Edge to Godard in a average fight.

Posted by tattooedkingpin on December 16, 2009 at 05:45 PM

Slight edge to Godard

Posted by rocky 1 on December 16, 2009 at 01:27 AM

Riley Cote should be a contestant on survivor cause thats what he did in this fight.I don,t blame him cause goddard will hurt you bad! Clear win for Goddard.

Posted by Doogle on December 16, 2009 at 03:14 AM

Another "wanna hug" fight by Cote. Win- Godard

Posted by slavv on December 19, 2009 at 11:29 AM

Godard was more active and he controlled the fight. Nothing spectacular, but win for Godard...

Posted by shrk33 on December 16, 2009 at 12:23 PM

ok fight, slight edge to Godard

Posted by lb1631 on December 16, 2009 at 12:46 PM

Edge to Goddard. He landed the better punches

Posted by Jellyczar on December 17, 2009 at 08:13 PM

Cote looking much better this year, but Godard gets edge...

Posted by dogace on December 16, 2009 at 10:30 AM

godard another win over cote great rivalry.thursday should be fun!

Posted by bigpucks on December 16, 2009 at 12:52 PM

Cote has more heart than Richards and all the other Philly clowns combined. its a shame he can't score or fight. Edge Godard.

Posted by bostonrs555 on December 16, 2009 at 09:05 AM

Cote puts up a battle, but that's about all he does against the heavyweights he continues to challenge... Cote has a heavyweight heart in a middleweight frame..... Edge to Godard

Posted by BooSanta on December 01, 2011 at 11:38 AM

Expecting more from both on this. Rocked and Socked Riley seemed to fair better with his right than his natural left. Godard with the reach advantage making him land the more and better punches. The Danzig song in the background as his twin gets rocked on the ice.

Posted by mpagano22 on December 16, 2009 at 08:55 AM

It always amazes me that no matter how bad a Flyer loses a fight, there is always some ass who says they've won. Give Goddard the nod and Cote loses another one.

Posted by pens08 on December 16, 2009 at 12:45 AM

close fight with a very slight edge for godard in this one. both landed some decent shots and i had hoped this would be a better fight. weird start to the game with this many bouts so close together i would have expected it more in the 3rd period when the game was slipping away.

Posted by penshockey57 on January 18, 2010 at 11:09 AM

Godard had is way with him. I hate Philly but it was close. I think Godard won it in the end.

Posted by staceyb on December 16, 2009 at 04:58 AM

I see Cote playing somewhere else next season.

Posted by PA GI Joe on December 16, 2009 at 06:34 AM

Don't like Cote, but he deserves credit as a guy who will throw with anyone. Still one of the more entertaining fighters in the league and almost enjoyable to dislike. Disagree with someone calling him a hugger. Gave it a 5 and W for Godard. Their past fights have been much better than this.

Posted by bruiseyoureye on December 16, 2009 at 04:34 PM

godard used cote's mop head to clean up the ice.........ridiculously easy win for godard........cote sucks.......philthadelphia sucks........hartnell blows and bites........too bad we didnt get a chance to see crosby put an ass whoopin on that coward richards, oh well maybe thursday night crosby can put a major pounding on that mike richards faag boy.

Posted by rowbearprobear on December 19, 2009 at 09:12 AM

love the music blasting in the background win goddard who is still a top 3 on any given night

Posted by giantsfrey on December 16, 2009 at 05:03 AM

win godard, but it sure wasn't the killer win that pens fans look for in a godard vs. flyers fight. i'd love to see godard dressed for more games to get into more of a rhythm this year. he can be the baddest ass in the league when he's on his game

Posted by Chet the Jet on December 16, 2009 at 11:29 AM

Gotta give credit to Cote - he'll take on anybody, but rarely does he win against the league's best heavyweights, like Godard. I think bostonrs555 has it exactly right, "Cote has a heavyweight heart in a middleweight frame". No hilight reel shots, but Godard had the better of the exchanges. Win Godard.

Posted by LanceJohnson on December 16, 2009 at 09:19 PM

Not sure how people are coming up with Cote in this one. While not overwhelming, Godard was the clear winner. It's got to be scary squaring off with him. The guy can flat out bring it. He'll be in another fight tomorrow...wonder which flyer is gonna get kicked in that one.

Posted by penguin2000 on December 16, 2009 at 03:27 PM

Whos tougher pound for pound in the NHL than Eric Godard? He's the best enforcer in the game today hands down.

Posted by wallysy1 on December 16, 2009 at 10:02 PM

cote may have gotten in one. godard with decisive win--albeit no major damage...he won on aggression, connections and overpowering cote.

Posted by The Peach on December 16, 2009 at 03:36 AM

edge to godard. he could have done better. cote backed off after barely dodging a monster cross that would have flattened him. but i like cote, he is all heart and shows up against anyone.

Posted by smwarpig63 on December 15, 2009 at 11:40 PM

nice bout, I'll go godard

Posted by psm759 on December 16, 2009 at 07:36 AM

riley huggie bear cote holds on again

Posted by digitalroc on December 17, 2009 at 01:59 AM

Split between a draw and edge to Godard. I really enjoy watching both of these fighters.

Posted by bruins rule on December 15, 2009 at 11:08 PM

godard gets the edge in this fight.

Posted by GaryBusey on December 16, 2009 at 08:17 AM

Cote solidifies his position as Goddard's B-slap, but this time did a better job of ducking...

Posted by djray5000 on December 16, 2009 at 08:05 PM

Nice tussle, Godard come out on top.

Posted by cuptonj on December 16, 2009 at 01:49 AM

Fight was close edge Goddard. Please get that Pen homer Bob Errey of national broadcasts he sucks.

Posted by paddyd on December 16, 2009 at 10:20 AM

Actually not a bad bout for Riley the NHL punching bag. W Godard.

Posted by BattleAxe13 on December 16, 2009 at 05:07 PM

Godard with the win. Props to Cote for hanging in there. Cote has a poor win loss record but he always hangs in there. Whether you like one of these teams or hate both you have to admit, this is the toughest and most exciting rivalry in the NHL despite the Pens extreme dominance the last few years.

Posted by upyours on December 16, 2009 at 10:49 AM

Slight win for Godard, although I always respect Cote. Too bad that Carcillo doesn't have the spine that Cote does. He will fight non fighter Adams in the first, but decline an invite from Godard in the third. What a pussy.

Posted by MikeVee on December 15, 2009 at 10:43 PM

Cote logs 30 seconds in ice time for the night and gets his ass kicked in the process. Flyers get demolished by the Pens. Pretty standard night for the Flyers!

Posted by EDDUBBS on December 16, 2009 at 09:02 AM

Cote with a better shot on Godard

Posted by devil_d0gg09 on December 16, 2009 at 03:33 AM

slight edge Godard, and i dont know why people take this voting/site so serious to me its funny how people get angry over a website!!!! LOL

Posted by acd1 on December 16, 2009 at 10:47 PM

Nice scrap

Posted by adamfry on December 16, 2009 at 09:09 AM

Nothing really landed - draw, moral victory for Cote - - he didn't get dominated.

Posted by biglite351 on December 17, 2009 at 09:21 AM

It would be nice to see Hartnell fight his own battles for once. Both guys seemed to tire out but want to keep going.

Posted by muskokadangler on January 27, 2010 at 05:47 PM

That wasn't that good ....especially considering the beauties before!!!

Posted by bigdog2007 on December 16, 2009 at 01:33 PM

Godard win the win. Huggybear Cote was just hanging on.

Posted by tim daddy on December 16, 2009 at 12:28 PM

godard lands the only solid punches in this one

Posted by piney on December 16, 2009 at 07:21 PM

Godard should have done better

Posted by millerdvr on December 15, 2009 at 10:46 PM

cote with the win in this boring scrap, godard landed nothing

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on March 02, 2015 at 03:07 AM

godard smoked cote pretty good this time around.

Posted by Pens17 on December 16, 2009 at 11:49 AM

Godard an easy winner over a human speed bag!

Posted by Oil Can Henry on December 16, 2009 at 02:44 AM

Their wasn't anything, here - nothin' to vote on, unless the homers feel it's necessary to give their man a "w"

Posted by Rex from MN on December 17, 2009 at 03:29 PM

Goddard just doesn't seem to be the man he used to be. Cote should go into rock n roll. He has the hair and the drugs would be easier on his body than the punches. Draw

Posted by tomales2 on December 16, 2009 at 03:26 PM

Cote, like him or not, is the antithesis of a "hugger." Nothing much here despite Pitt bias . Draw.

Posted by chad420 on December 16, 2009 at 10:40 AM

edge godard
