Garbage fight. The only guy that owns Boogaard is Godard. Belak is an elite fighter and these guys both know the potential damage that can be inflicted. I'd still like to see a brawl between Laraque and Boogaard happen. Boring this time around though.

Posted by Bad Dawg on December 03, 2009 at 10:26 AM

Not one of Boogaard's better outings. Belak is a good scrapper but didn't accomplish much other then not getting his head knocked off!

Posted by rustyrazor on December 03, 2009 at 02:27 PM

I won't get that 1:37 of my life back.

Posted by mikebflorida on December 03, 2009 at 09:41 AM

61% for Booger? LOL HILARIOUS For what? Not a single decent punch lands in this fight for either guy. A wrestling match with 2 huge guys who don't want to get hurt would be known as a CRAP FIGHT and a DRAW. These guys have a lot of respect for each other, you can see it in the square off. Belak has beaten Boogs before. God people, get a friggin clue, it's getting old. It certainly would help if some of you had actually ever been in a fight besides the one you got in with your brother over who was going to play with a particular Transformer. Retards.

Draw, nobody landed anything

Posted by boldbilly on December 03, 2009 at 11:01 AM

An obvious draw, how can you give it to either....... don't you need to land a few in order to take the win? Too many Boogaard fans here I'm afraid. The fact that he is bigger and stronger and moved Belak around is not enough to give him the win . Landed punches are what counts and there were few by either player. Homers stop voting DRAW

Posted by masternater on December 04, 2009 at 01:22 PM

... could you have two bigger heavy weights, have a crappier fight

Gotta love Belaks fearlessness, fighting Boogaard with a grin. Uneventful draw. Very ''Code-ish'' of Boogarrd not to punch him against the boards at the end. LOL on the list, Pred2Win.

Posted by brazos on December 03, 2009 at 12:15 PM

I thought Belak was a big guy until they lined up ready to go, then he looked rather small. Given the size disadvantage I thought Belak fought an intelligent fight, in other words he kept himself from getting laid out. For that reason alone I would call it a draw.

Posted by Pred2Win on December 02, 2009 at 11:08 PM

I have a list of items that I'm thankful for in my life; not getting punched by either of these humans is very near the top of that list!

Posted by salmon dog on December 02, 2009 at 10:55 PM

Not much really. Big, slow heavyweights. Don't these guys wear rib pads? What's with all the body shots? Pretty dull.

Posted by msaw1125 on December 04, 2009 at 08:43 AM

I guess the thing these days in the league are "shots to the body." Why take a punch in the face when you can easily hit your opponent in the stomach/ribs. We can all thanks Steve McIntyre for this new style of fighting.

Posted by lovejoy on December 03, 2009 at 02:52 AM

draw. Boogeyman had the size advantage but Belak is more skilled fighter.

Posted by blazers76 on December 03, 2009 at 10:27 AM

I have this fight as a draw. Did not think anything great landed. Hopefully this is just a start for these 2 guys this year.

Posted by tattooedkingpin on December 03, 2009 at 02:28 PM

Boogard with the slight edge, but not enough for the W. Draw

Posted by plubber on December 05, 2009 at 12:02 AM

Not sure how anyone can give either an edge here. I used to call Belak (going back to his Calgary days) the human speed bag, but in the last 2 years he has whacked many of the big guys. No way he "lost" this one, but looking at how he schooled Boogaard the last 2 times, it was a poor outing for him. No harm done, no winner.

Posted by schm1547 on December 02, 2009 at 11:28 PM

Strong edge to Boogaard here. Landed a few more solid shots and had pretty dominant positioning the whole bout. Not a terribly exciting fight regardless.

Posted by dorian on December 03, 2009 at 10:20 AM

Draw. OK fight. Belak is the more skilled fighter. Parros could learn a thing or two about balance from this guy. Wade also *just* misses with that left. Boogaard is obviously a giant. What else can be said about him? Kinda boring fighter imo. Keeps lesser gents at arms length until they tire and then pummels them. Whatever works I guess. Accolades to Boogaard for honoring the code at the end. Nice to see that. Also nice to see Wade getting some playing time. This was only his third fight of the season. That piece of shit Bissonette already has like 4234781923748 fights.

Posted by richthepirate on December 03, 2009 at 05:30 AM

that was the most obvious draw i've ever seen, similar amounts of punches thrown, nothing of note landing.

Posted by The Mob on December 03, 2009 at 05:29 PM

If Boogaard won this fight it's based on what he could have done vrs what actually happened. There was no clear winner to this fight - a complete draw all around. There's no doubt Boogaard is the bigger but fighting has nothing to do with size or strength really. If it did, Ali should have lost 3/4 of his bouts. Belak has technique and that's why he stays in there with a guy like Boogaard.

Posted by Clark75 on December 06, 2009 at 11:56 AM

Draw. I don't give wins for kidney shots unless the guy gets dropped like Brashear did.

Posted by darylfowler on December 06, 2009 at 05:22 PM

evenly matched...would have been nice to see some of those punches landed.

Posted by Santokh_Gill on December 15, 2009 at 02:24 PM

Edge to Boogard BUT full marks to Belak for the overall draw , belak landed more and boogards punches were all vain , back of the helmet .

Posted by hal29 on December 02, 2009 at 11:05 PM

Whats up with boogaard just standing there backing away and backing away, he is the bigger man and made belak come to him, then starts throwing body punches. boogaard is a robot and is way overated, my honest opinion not realy that good, he can only win by keeping people away at arms lengths. even Roy stood in there with him what last year ot the year before come people your giving boogy to much credit, win/draw to belak, more or less for being the agressor and wanting it more, belak landed the only descent punch of the whole fight and just missed with the upper cut. honestly tell me what boogy did in this fight. hmmm he threw lowsy body shots and punches to the back of the helmet that barely hit the helmet, other than that just pushing belak's jersey in his face

Posted by SFVflyers88 on February 06, 2010 at 02:02 AM

I think Belak has done the best job against Boogy this fight was a draw but the other 3 Belak won. Sorry Boogy fanboys Wade has his number.

Posted by BigRob1 on December 03, 2009 at 12:55 PM

Never seen a man so scared for his life then Belak. Win Boogaard on the fear facter alone. Crap fight.

Posted by kalismkkr on December 04, 2009 at 10:52 PM

Slight edge to the robot, Boogaard. The guy has no passion, no "mean on", which is hard to like. If "having some heart" could be learned, he could take lessons from Clutterbuck. Till then, Boogaard is just wasting a lot of Wild bench.

Posted by teebo on December 04, 2009 at 10:09 PM

draw, only idiots see otherwise

Posted by wildfan4eva on December 04, 2009 at 01:23 PM

Weak as hell. Too much respect going both ways with these two. Boogaard needs to get traded or something, nobody want's to fight him anymore, and what a roster spot wasted. I love him for his balls, but god does he do NOTHING beneficial but fight. To all you on here whom are crying about the rib/kidney shots. You seriously don't think those punched to either the rib or kidney would sting like a mad man? Did you watch how Macintyre dropped Brashear from body shots. It hurts like a bitch, apparently some of you whiners don't know your head from your ass. Shoulder pads at MOST come down to your lower shoulder blades to your middle-upper back, leaving ribs and kidneys exposed the majority of the time. For all the fighters whom play major defense and turn their head away, those body shots are the best bang for your buck, better than punching a shoulder (where the pads are), or a helmet which happens all the fricken time. Also, if you someone like BOOGY or BELAK would hit some padding in the ribs area, you don't think it wouldn't still hurt like a mo fo? GET REAL!

Posted by bruiseyoureye on December 03, 2009 at 01:23 AM

boogaard wins this one.

Posted by commander on December 03, 2009 at 06:59 PM

I'd rather watch the grass grow instead of watching Boogey fight. No domination here for such a big man.....thank god he wasn't fighting Godard or Brashear....

Posted by loafermn on December 03, 2009 at 06:52 PM

Edge to Boogaard for the control at the end.

Posted by The Peach on December 08, 2009 at 01:22 AM

Posted by tyrone on December 03, 2009 at 01:23 AM

Hey HW's. Throw down Domi and Probert style and let the best man win. You guys are overrated. Booger with the win barely. You both are beeyotches.

Posted by Ripper20 on December 03, 2009 at 12:21 PM

Pretty long scrap, although uneventful. Boogaard gets the win with a slight edge toward the end, because Belak decided it was time to cover (coward) up before getting tagged by the big right that was free.

Posted by BooSanta on December 04, 2009 at 02:00 AM

Expected more from these 2. Boogey had Belak prone at the end giving him an ever so slight edge. Belak did good considering he was outsized and survived the fight without getting anywhere near a Boogey right.

Posted by peeks on December 03, 2009 at 11:06 AM

To whomever mentioned that Godard OWNS Boodgaard, go look at their match-up record and come back and re-state the REAL fact. Boogaard is 3-1 against Godard. Just because you lose once doens't mean your "owned". What about the three times Boogy beat Godard? Yeah, that's right.

Posted by Dave Brown HOF on December 03, 2009 at 10:13 AM

Slightest of edges to Boogaard. He actually showed some class there by not feeding Belak a couple of kidney shots at the end before the linsemen jumped in. Have these guys been watching Big Mac's last couple of fights or what? It seems like they were trying to throw more body punches than anything else. But whatever works. Also, Boogard can't "only" be 6'7". He's made Koci and now Belak look like little guys in comparison and they're both at least 6'5". Not to mention in that fight, he looked like he could drag Belak around the ice with his superior strength if he wanted too.

Posted by shawnfightlover on December 05, 2009 at 10:17 PM

Derek Boogaard won because belak didnt punch a lot

Posted by EDDUBBS on December 03, 2009 at 08:16 AM

boogard with the win. Belak knows that if Boogie catches him he's out!!!!

Posted by Leafs2006 on December 03, 2009 at 06:47 AM

Booooooooogard!! These are my 2 favorites in the league, How bout Boogard holding off at the end, he could hammerewd wade, but respect, he backed out.....thats class. Not like Christine Neil would have done in Nottawa, mind you, Christine has never been in a dominating position like that, maybe over at " Dork Ear" Spezza's house, but not on the ice!! Woof Woof!

Posted by FiveFoFightin on December 03, 2009 at 02:26 PM

I get a kick out of all you wanna-be tough guys on here criticizing these two players. Both are top 5 in the NHL as far as enforcers. They both know how to fight, but also how to protect themselves. If you think these guys are "boring" or "slow" fighters, think again! Remember when the Fridge left himself open, Boogaard caved in the side of his face, & Belak dropped Brashear!! It wasn't a barn-burner, but I'll watch these two guys anytime!!!

Posted by kryon24 on December 03, 2009 at 09:59 PM

Gotta say a near win for Booger as Belak was holding on for dear life and wanted nothing to do with the Boogey Man.

Posted by Jellyczar on December 12, 2009 at 09:42 PM

Posted by staceyb on December 04, 2009 at 05:47 AM

I have to give it to Boogaard but honestly Belak suffered more damage shaving that morning than from any of those punches, except maybe the rib shot early on.

Posted by ScottDaniels on December 03, 2009 at 02:58 PM

Decent scrap, neither of them really drew momentum for the 1-1 tie...Alot of props to boogy for not throwing that last punch in the end...its good to see some the guys in this league still live by the code

Posted by sunny8 on December 03, 2009 at 12:25 PM

Belak was hanging on for dear life. Boogaard man handled him did not land any knock out blows just a few good shots. Clear win for the Boogyman

Posted by The Foil on December 03, 2009 at 12:35 AM

Boogard won, but not by much. Nice to see he didn't give Belak that last kidney shot he was eying up

Posted by shuckthefarks on December 04, 2009 at 10:25 AM

I've seen Belak get the better of Boogeyman and also seen Belak hold on for life. This fight was more of the latter but anyone that suggests Belak can't take on Boogeyman is an idiot. I've seen Boogeyman go to the locker for repairs after a bout with Wade. I think Wade just turns away from Boogeyman when he doesn't have the leverage or hold he wants. It doesn't make for the best fight, but if your not in a position for offense, sometimes you have to play defense.

Posted by Bullybeatdown on December 03, 2009 at 05:47 AM

boogs gets the win with solid body shots and a few to the back of belaks dome. belak lands a couple armpit blows mixed with shoulderpad glancers and airballs.

Posted by tomdetroit on December 05, 2009 at 01:30 PM

Booger wins a close one. He was the one throwing and landing more. Belak should have moved in and cracked him early if he was gonna do anything.

Posted by rob2h on January 07, 2010 at 07:41 PM

Boogard could have really landed a big one at the end but didn't need to.Belak held his own give him credit.

Posted by jakethesnake on January 25, 2010 at 06:12 PM

Booger scared Wade, its not like he could one punch him to ice like he did Brashear.....At the end of this one, did u see a tear on Wade's face...when a fighter turns head/tail and waits for a ref to save him, thats a defeat in my book regardless, Wade did nothing to earn a draw.......GOOOOOOOOOOOO BOOOOOOOOGER!!

Posted by Juha82 on December 03, 2009 at 10:52 AM

Posted by John Tandlich on December 04, 2009 at 07:56 PM

after waiting a long time for the two combatants to stop dancing, this fight was a let down. most of the connecting blows were body shots with a couple of elbow pads thrown in.

Posted by wildjunior on December 03, 2009 at 11:24 AM

the fight took place wright in front of us .and to say that the kidney pads were abused is an understatement.

Posted by TeaSer on December 05, 2009 at 05:59 PM

Belak: momma, momma, I'm tryin to hang on til they stop this! Boog: square up so i can smack ya -- im not interested in your butt! Wade, your future is Bleak if you're gonna wimp out like this

Posted by slshbleed on December 04, 2009 at 09:41 AM

Belak was very tactical in this fight where he typically is wiling to chuck a lot more punches. With Boogaard's punching power, its not advised to trade punches. It looked like Belak was trying to get set up to switch to the left. He got there but missed with the big left. The people that beat Boogaard are able to yank him off balance and get him to bend at the waste. Belak didn't get Boogaard off balance, but he did a pretty good job. I think it was a slight edge to Boogaard.

Posted by Arjai on January 24, 2010 at 04:55 AM

Belak did a good job, but in no way did he win this fight.

Posted by avamania2003 on December 03, 2009 at 12:52 PM

nothing landed but the booggy man showed more !

Posted by b.t.wilson on December 02, 2009 at 10:51 PM

edge to boogaard but all the respect in the world to belak, nary a hockey player can not only survive a boogaard fight, but hold his own the way belak can. fights like this give me goosebumps, its funny to see a guy as big as belak look small. definitely not a fireworks display, but with the power these guys have what do you expect? i wouldn't want to open up either. good fight.

Posted by bigdude on December 03, 2009 at 12:51 PM

Boogaard wins. He looked so much bigger and seemed to be the aggressor through out.

Posted by deadformycar on December 09, 2009 at 03:27 PM

Crap "fight." There are no "rib shots" because everyone wears shoulder pads that extend over the ribs. The boogeyman should get a new nickname--the waste of a space on the bench man. draw.

Posted by Oil Can Henry on December 03, 2009 at 01:21 AM

This was a draw at best,....Belak made his man look bad in a fight that Boogaard should have dominated. Quit posing all-the-time and just get-down to business.

Posted by azjim on December 06, 2009 at 08:24 PM

ripper20 - It's good to know you are such a tough guy that if you were Belak you would have left your face open for Boogaard to crush. That's either a lie or you're really stupid. Calling Belak a coward for putting his head down is beyond stupid. He should let himself get killed for your benefit?

Posted by jcstokes on December 03, 2009 at 12:10 PM

Draw. Belak get credit for hanging in there with the monster.

Posted by jaswa on December 02, 2009 at 11:57 PM

Boogard's a scary strong beast and those body shots did score some damage but that was all he did in this fight and that's NOT enough to win. Belak was more active here and pushing the action...he took more shots and landed more so he gets the edge. Oh yea, mcb you're a doofus.

Posted by BigTot on December 06, 2009 at 08:12 PM

Very Close fight, but I think that the edge goes to Boogey...

Posted by giefs on January 12, 2010 at 02:46 AM

Boogard with win because I like the guy and am biased towards the Wild. Classy move not pounding the back of Belak's head at the very end.

Posted by wannago_letsgo on December 03, 2009 at 04:47 PM

Boogaard is a monster, I would like to see him and John Scott square off one day yeah I know their on the same team right now don't bother pointing that out. Props to belak for even thinking about fighting him weather it's his job out there or not it still takes guts knowing whats about to happen. Boogaard with the win, though the fight was fairly close

Posted by BoogeyRocks on December 08, 2009 at 03:45 PM

Slight edge to the Boogeyman. He was the aggressor and threw more punches. The biggest was a body shot that kind of buckled Belak early.

Posted by Rex from MN on December 03, 2009 at 12:40 PM

Boogaard and not close since Belak basically cried "UNCLE"! and turtled at the end. No doubt he was aware of how free Boogie's right arm was. I can't blame him either. Intimidation factor by the big man, and Belak has major balls just for going with him several times. Not many will even go once. If Boogie would uppercut like Probert did instead of ,or as well as, the body blows...Lights out!!!

Posted by Richterfan on December 05, 2009 at 11:36 AM

Boogaard with the win. He was able to lock out Belak with that super long reach. Neither player was able to land any really big shots to the head, but Boogaard lands several nice body blows. Belak will be feeling those for awhile.

Posted by chad420 on December 15, 2009 at 09:21 PM

slight edge boogey...good job belak

Posted by Rynryn on December 03, 2009 at 09:00 AM

Edge Boogaard. Belak did as good a job as i've seen in maintaining a safe stance while still throwing legitimate punches, though. I actually enjoyed the fight despite the lack of clean punches landed because it wasn't just Boogaard flailing away at a ducking opponent.

Posted by samtheman on December 03, 2009 at 08:19 PM

Lots of action but not many punches connected. Slight edge to Boogard for being the agressor.

Posted by BigBadBruins68 on December 03, 2009 at 04:00 PM

Belak is lucky Boogey decided to have mercy at the end, because he could have beaten him down while he was bent over. Belak looked pretty tentative and once they got a hold of one another, Belak knew he was outmatched and looked like he wanted out, especially after Boogey got his arm loose... Boogey takes this one to even the series at 2-2.

Posted by sniperglock22 on December 05, 2009 at 05:42 PM

They took way to long getting started..Typical Boogaard fight..Great balance by Belak..Edge to Boogaard (body shots).
