Jim Vandermeer vs Krys Barch

Never been much of a Barch, Ott, who(m)ever, fan...
but, to his credit...this time out, he fought a smart, tactical fight,
which, eventually, allowed him to end up with a slight edge,
over, a surprisingly ineffective, Vandermeer.

A blue collar fight between two journeyman war horses that ends up in a draw. That lower level section behind the SJ goalie sure had a lot of empty seats.

Vandermeer seems to have lost a step the past couple years, but still a warrior.

I give Barch a slight edge, although it could be that I got dizzy watching them spin round

To my pleasant surprise, this was not the outcome I had expexted.
I like Barch and would take him on my team anyday. Fairly underated + as player. He's a good skater and does above average when dropping the gloves.
I liked that tug/pull - in technique that kept Vandy off balance. A nice change from the jersey jabs.
Win Barch.

Vandermeer takes a punch as well as anyone except the Brick Hithouse himself, Homer Simpson.

A furious jersey grabbing draw with nothing much worthy actually landing. Giving it to Vandy to make it more even. Barch didn't win this any more than Vandermeer did.

Now that's a high-quality draw right there. Shots thrown, grappling, pillar-to-post motion, and the pugilists were amused by the whole affair.

This was a good tilt. I called this one a draw because both guys landed some pretty solid shots. I didn't see either guy getting a clear advantage here. I gave it a 7.
