Clowe runs over Karlis Skrastins near the side boards while Skrastins plays the puck up ice. That leads to Laperriere taking a run at Clowe and the two quickly dropping the gloves. They get tangeled up along the boards and Clowe strikes first with a right cross. They wrestle around for a moment and Laperriere gets loose, throwing two lefts with one connecting. Clowe struggles to get an arm free but finally does and misses with a right uppercut. Clowe connects with two short rights and Laperriere does the same with lefts. Laperriere then grabs Clowe and they get tied up in an awkward position. Laperriere opens things up a right and an uppercut just before Clowe throws an overhand left and Laperriere falls to the ice. The linesmen then quickly intervene and end the fight. Other Penalties: Laperriere received a roughing.

Alberts knocks Jiri Novotny to the ice with a hard open-ice hit, prompting Peters to skate over and grab Alberts. The two exchange words and then quickly drop the gloves before grabbing ahold of one another. Peters connects with three rights to the side of Alberts' helmet to start things off. Alberts returns fire with a right, but Peters continues to swing away with the right, throwing two right crosses and two uppercuts. Alberts attempts a locked-out right and Peters throws three more rights while they skate into the boards. Peters gets Alberts' helmet off and Alberts responds with a short right followed by a left hook that hits the top of Peters' forehead. Alberts then misses with a right cross, but loses his balance and falls to the ice. Peters cocks back his right hand, but the linesmen are right there to grab them and end the fight.

Behind the play the two drop the gloves and quickly grab ahold of each other. Marleau throws three short rights while Ballard tries to get an arm free. Marleau throws three more rights and tries to take Ballard's helmet off just before he throws another right that hits helmet. Marleau finally does take Ballard's helmet off, but Ballard fires back with a right. Marleau responds with a right that Ballard ducks under. Marleau then wrestles Ballard down to the ice and gets in a short right while they're falling. The linesmen are right there to end the fight shortly after.

Fritsche hits Hartnell along the boards and Hartnell takes exception, shoving Fritsche and then dropping his gloves. Fritsche drops his mitts as well and Hartnell quickly tries to get Fritsche's helmet off, but fails. Hartnell then throws three rights until he switches to the left and throws two wild ones. Fritsche gets in a right during the flurry, but goes down to a knee, allowing Hartnell to connect with an overhand right to the back of his helmet. Fritsche gets back to his feet and they crash into the boards before falling to the ice with the linesmen quickly jumping in to break things up. Other Penalties: Hartnell received an instigator, instigating with a shield (minor) and misconduct.

Eager nails Thorburn along the boards, knocking him to the ice. Thorburn gets back up and shoves Eager while one of the linesmen tries to separate them. They both drop their gloves and Eager quickly throws a left that hits the side of Thorburn's head. Both of the linesmen jump in to try and stop the fight, but Eager continues to throw some short lefts. Thorburn returns fire with a right and the linesmen are still relentless in trying to stop the fight. Eager throws an uppercut and a left and the linesmen are finally able to break things up. Other Penalties: Eager received an instigator and misconduct.

With a minute left in the second period, Coburn checks Zach Parise into the boards from behind and receives a boarding penalty. The third period begins and Coburn collides with Rupp along the boards during his next shift after serving the penalty. Rupp challenges Coburn and the two drop the gloves, shed the helmets, and square off at the blueline. Rupp grabs ahold of Coburn and connects with two straight rights, the second sending Coburn straight to the ice. Rupp gets in two more while Coburn is down and the linesmen quickly move in to grab Rupp and break things up.

Phaneuf crushes Brett McLean into the boards and Laperriere comes over and gets his stick up high on Phaneuf. Eric Godard has his stick between them as Phaneuf immediately drops his gloves and starts throwing punches at Lappy. Phaneuf gets in a couple of rights before the two start to wrestle. Phaneuf attempts to take Lappy's helmet off, but is unable to. Phaneuf then throws a few more rights, with one inside shot possibly connecting. They grapple and skate down the ice as Laperriere tries to get his right arm free. Laperriere attempts a right that doesn't make is as Phaneuf counters with two rights of his own. Laperriere then gets off a left and takes Phaneuf's helmet off. Laperriere then lands a short left as the linesmen come in. Other penalties: Laperriere received a cross checking.

Getzlaf gives Halpern a couple of slashes while Halpern tries to play the puck up ice, causing him to shove Getzlaf. Halpern then grabs him and drops the gloves, throwing a quick right just as Getzlaf is getting his mitts off. The two wrestle around and Getzlaf throws a short right followed by a right to the back of the head, an uppercut, and a straight right. Halpern struggles to get an arm free and Getzlaf throws one more right to the back of Halpern's head before they tumble to the ice. The linesmen then quickly skate over and grab them, ending the fight. Other Penalties: Halpern received a high sticking.

Brashear shoves Ryan Craig away during the faceoff, prompting Roy to challenge Brashear shortly after the puck drops. The two drop the gloves and square off at center ice. Roy shoots for Brashear and throws three rights just before switching hands and landing some short lefts to the side of Brashear's helmet. Roy switches back to the right and continues to feed Brashear short punches to the side of the head while mixing in an uppercut during the flurry. Brashear tugs Roy, knocking him off-balance and takes advantage of the situation by landing three rights, the last of them knocking Roy's helmet off. Brashear connects with two quick lefts and they go back and forth with lefts while in tight. They get loose and Brashear throws a right with Roy returning fire with two of his own until he loses his balance and falls to the ice. Brashear gets in a left while he is down, but the linesmen are right there to break things up.

Right off of the faceoff, the two drop the gloves and square off in front of the Sabres' bench. They grab ahold of each other and Belak misses with a left jab, allowing Peters to throw two rights. Belak returns fire with eight unanswered punches, a mix of overhand rights, jersey-jabs, and uppercuts. Peters finally responds with a right and they go back and forth with rights until Belak takes control once again, connecting with a few rights to the back of Peters' head. Peters goes with the right once again and they spin around until Peters loses his balance and starts to fall to the ice. Belak connects with a right to Peters' chest while he is falling and the linesmen quickly intervene.

Clowe gets the arm up on Ryan Smyth and Matt Greene challenges him immediately. The drop the gloves and grab on to each other immediately. They start to grapple against the boards as Clowe gets in a few rights. Clowe wrestles Greene to his knees, but Greene is able to get back up and they wrestle some more. Clowe gets his right out from under his jersey and starts to land a couple of rights, one popping off Greene's helmet. Greene attempts to counter with some left jersey-jabs. They look like they're about to wrestle some more, but lock up as though someone hit pause and the linesmen come in to break it up.

Rupp takes down Salvador in the corner. They both follow the puck and after a push from Salvador they drop the gloves. The quickly grab on to one another and Rupp gets off a couple of rights. They wrestle and Salvador tries to throw a couple of rights, but is locked-out. Salvador then shakes off his right elbow pad and throws the right hand. Rupp's able to avoid the shot and with the momentum of the missed punch behind him Rupp easily pushes Salvador to the ice.

They drop the gloves right off the faceoff, grab on and get in tight. Boogaard gets off a couple of rights, high and low as Godard tries to get his arm free. Godard gets a few rights off, but they come up short. Boogaard then lands a left and switches back to the right, landing a few high and mixing in one body shot. Boogaard lands a couple of more rights while Godard tries to get his own rights in that don't seem to reach. Boogaard mixes in a couple of more high and low rights and Godard slips his right arm inside Boogaard's grip. Godard then lands two hard shots and Boogaard goes to a knee, only to get up quickly. Godard quickly lands a couple of more shots sending Boogaard back to his knees. Godard then drags Boogaard down to prevent him from getting up again as the linesmen move in to break it up. After a moment in the penalty box, Boogaard went to the lockerroom and did not return to the game.
