Great knockout by Tom Wilson

Tweety birds

Posted by Skipmeok on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Maybe Wilson knew that he had to answer for that hit in preseason and figured he'd just answer the bell early, either way, Oleksiak was on Crosby St after that big right... AKA, Shim St

Posted by Mr Higglesworth on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Oleksiak forgot which stadium he was in

Posted by dean94harrison on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

As one sided as it gets.

Posted by Mounty in NC on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Oleksiak just needs to give up fighting altogether. He is an embarrassment to other fighters. What is it with him turning his back to his opponent??? Wilson and a 4

Posted by Graserk on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Pens need a tough guy. Willy absolutely smokes him.

Posted by nirvana on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Wilson Wilson Wilson what can I say another fake tough Wish Luke gazdic was still in the league to teach him another lesson #lgr

Posted by bigmike53 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Wilson just wrecked “The Big O”. KO win Wilson.

Posted by GreatAgain99 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Willy jumped on him like a fly on $hit and connected. Oleksiak was caught off guard i bet he'd like to square up in a rematch.

Posted by vtwilsonfan on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

First true clean KO of Wilson's career.

Posted by cosmo on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Wilson with a b**ch move dropping the gloves and throwing before Oleksiak could even get set to really defend himself. The Big Rig managed one stray punch while getting spun. Willy must have figured he had to roll on Oleksiak to have a chance....no respect for that turd.

Posted by PenguinsFan on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Tom Wilson is such a trash fighter. Jamie shouldn't even have to fight him there and I dont know why he did but Tom wanted him too for a little hit Jamie did. Cant wait for my buddy Reaves to play against Washington again. He'll send Willy straight out of the game with a hit. Wilson is garbage and anybody can beat em up. I dont mind the Capitals but Wilson should be in AHL.

Posted by GreatMurray on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Oleksiak is just big...he can't fight. He knew it was coming...he would have done the same thing if Wilson had dusted off one of his players. I don't like either team...but I'll take Wilson anytime. My team already has a couple of traffic cones on "D". We don't need another. Wilson with the knockout win.

Posted by ClownTown on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Saw this one live...Willy fed him one straight to the temple and knocked him out of the game. I think Oleksiak got exposed here and in the Simmonds fight as well. He was always a bit of a hype job if you ask me. Willy on the other hand is just a fucking good hockey player, man. 2/3 of a Gordie tonight. They dedicated a good three minutes during the intermission to asking Dreger if the Pens need to muscle up to deal with this guy in the playoffs. Any team would love to have this guy

Posted by DanielleinDC on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

I wonder if Jim Rutherford regrets his mouth writing checks that Jamie Oleksiak's body couldn't cash. I also hope Oleksiak is okay. After one or two hits from Jamie O, it was all Wilson, and he went to town. He also made sure Oleksiak didn't hit the ice too hard and backed away once he was down. It was quick, it was dirty, it was Wilson with the k/o.

Posted by Tampa Fan on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Wilson is a great fighter, but typically hunts to injure, so not a fan. Keep "The Code" alive.

Posted by organshifter on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

People should give credit where it is due, regardless of whether you like the guy or not, Wilson is a tough dude and dominated the larger Oleksiak, whom he has a history with. He could have landed a few more after Oleksiak fell but backed off and put his hands up.

Posted by Togalthorpe on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Wilson may have had the advantage of coming in hot because it was pretty apparent that a fight would ensue... Get ready for a punch Oleksiak... or a you can just take a quick little nap. Nighty night. Go Sharks!!! 🦈

First KO of the season

Posted by jerry s on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

still cant stand Wilson would love to see him take on Reaves or someone in that class

Posted by Orr Fourever on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

The Big "O" made a big mistake and paid. Wilson with the win. Say that 5 times really fast.

Posted by Ethereal on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Man Oleksiak was dropped quickly. I'll give it a 5.

Posted by EoinS94 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Oleksiak isn't the best fighter in the league but he's as good as the Pens have right now, and even though he was battered here at least he dropped the gloves. Credit where it's due, Wilson is a tough bloke.

Posted by Offsides on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Not a huge Wilson fan but that was a very hard punch to the orbital bone. Lucky he didn't break it.

Posted by smike277 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Jamie "where am I?" Oleksiak can thank Rutherford for this monster dose of karma.

Posted by Aerovette99 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

For the 9 that said Oleksiak won or it was a draw, you are on crack. The only thing that Oleksiak did was use his face to greet Wilson's fists. KO to Wilson. Oleksiak = asleep

Posted by jlc1976 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Only Oleksiak’s mom or a pins homer would think that was a draw or that Wilson somehow violated "the code" with this fight. The fight was going to happen since Rutherford flapped his jaws last sprin. Big O threw the first punch and regretted what came next. Not even close.

Posted by Hateball on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

wilson won a fight oh let the DC area celebrate. Let's see what he does next time they play Vegas. See if big boy Wilson wants any part of Reaves. It wont happen Reaves will destroy him.

Posted by martinhickey on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Wilson has a List, Willie has checked it twice and he knows who has been naughty, and who has not been nice, while he has been out. Great display of sportsmanship by Willie for holding up once Oleksiak went down. Oleksiak took a mule kick to the face and skated off, so, props to Oleksiak for answering the bell. Great hockey game all around. Back to Back Go Caps!

Posted by wbevansjr on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Clean knockout.

Posted by mo_town on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Wilson does it again

Posted by bountyhunter on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Would have been a much better fight had Wilson not chose to attack from across the ice and squared up like a man. Not saying the ending would have been much different but at least go toe to toe. Not attack like a rabid chicken. IF Wilson grows a set and fights Reeves in the future I will honestly forget how dirty a player he is and give him credit then and only then....but who got two points

Posted by CravenMoorehead on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

I will never understand the Tom Wilson haters, this dude is an old school hockey player who plays mean, tough, scores goals, chirps superstars, and backs his shit up with his meat hooks. We need 10 more Wilsons in the league. Back to this fight... Oleksiak was willing but it is hard to defend yourself against a buzz saw. Wilson gave him a right that will put him into the concussion protocol, clear win for Wilson. To the complete loser who voted Oleksiak the winner: Your mom farts dicks, get off this site.

Posted by Jeffro7777 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

The fight was bound to happen, Wilson answers bell and KO's a tough Oleksiak. In a year that Wilson is averaging over a point a game, Wilson still brings the toughness that has been a trademark of his career. Wilson doesn't win them all, but when he needs to, he drops the gloves.

Posted by CapsYapp on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

You saw this brewing up from back in the playoffs after JO wanted a piece of TW after the A-R hit. Well Jamie, ask and ye shall receive. A complete ass whooping. Next time instead of trying to talk like a big dog, JO might wanna keep his ass on the porch. And then Crysby talking shit to Ovi? Cindy don't want that next concussion on his resume...

Posted by JC on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Wilson jumped him....square off next time punk....

Posted by steppenwolf99 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Another case of someone throwing a clean check, and then being attacked.Pathetic, but that,s the league these days. Wilson with optimum positioning?,delivers a knockout shot.

Posted by Moose16 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Love Wilson's game, produce points and go after teams biggest MFer and drop him

Posted by Ohneely8 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Typical Wilson move by jumping someone before he had his gloves off.

Posted by Detroit_Caps on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Only Hens fans would cry that someone got jumped when they saw the other guy coming and threw the first punch. . .

Posted by von_swine on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

is there anything else to say other than #43 FTW? not really,... but I did notice some people felt that somehow Oleksiak having his lights punched out and hitting his face on the ice equated a draw,... ~O_o~ guess I'll say it once again, #43 FTW

Posted by Cannon50 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

#43 from the Caps strikes again. The biggest piece of shit in the NHL blindsides another. Your day will come Wilson. Can you say Ryan Reaves you loser?

Posted by wastedtgim on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

all you people that think he got jumped listen close at about 39 seconds wilson says you wanna go bud? and jamie answered him then he ate a good one lights flicker in in head then flickered again when he hit the ice. but b4 acusing wilson or sayin jamie wasnt ready maybe know what you are talking about!

Posted by Padre Peele on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Hope that Jamie makes a speedy recovery.

Posted by Sportaholic on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Anyone other than Wilson winning this lopsided fight and the reviews would have gone something like this: "6 White was only on the ice that early in the game to fight 43 Red, and yet he began his shift by hunting anyone BUT 43, taking a run at two non-fighters at the same time while avoiding 43. Once 43 Red finally found his obvious but unwilling opponent and clearly threw off his gloves quickly since he knew this fight had to happen, 43 still respected "The Code" enough to simply grapple first to let 6 White catch up, even allowing 6 to throw the first punch before 43 got started and totally embarrassed him." But since Wilson is involved you get asinine comments like these: "Wilson jumped him....square off next time punk...." "Typical Wilson move by jumping someone before he had his gloves off." And these two beauties: "Would have been a much better fight had Wilson not chose to attack from across the ice and squared up like a man. Not saying the ending would have been much different but at least go toe to toe. Not attack like a rabid chicken. IF Wilson grows a set and fights Reeves in the future I will honestly forget how dirty a player he is and give him credit then and only then...." "Wilson with a b**ch move dropping the gloves and throwing before Oleksiak could even get set to really defend himself...Willy must have figured he had to roll on Oleksiak to have a chance....no respect for that turd." Now, for my personal favorite: "Tom Wilson is such a trash fighter...Cant wait for my buddy Reaves to play against Washington again. He\'ll send Willy straight out of the game with a hit. Wilson is garbage and anybody can beat em up. I dont mind the Capitals but Wilson should be in AHL."

No doubt about a Wilson Victory but even more enjoyable as the game finished watching OV behave like a child on christmas who didn't get the toys he wanted was even more enjoyable. Smash that useless stick OV! LOL

Tom Wilson taking care of business.

Posted by rodlang on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

The Pens fans are really butthurt. Rutherford called Wilson a coward that wouldn't fight Oleksiak and that apparently motivated TW. I don't like seeing anyone get concussed but Oleksiak simply ran into Wilson when Wilson had something to prove.

Posted by tacomania on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

I give it to oleksiak because mark my words he is gonna pound the caps the next time they play, cant wait for march 12 very very lucky strikes for wilson. Not next time though.

Posted by canamrugby on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Wilson jumps Oleksiak and starts swinging for the fences, kind of reminded me of the way Dave Brown used to jump guys when they were looking the wrong way. Still Oleksiak managed to dump the gloves and kind-of, sort-of throw half-a-punch prior to being TKO'd as Wilson wins the drive-by punch up. Wilson is still a douche bag.

Posted by Sioux on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

At least the Penguin players know that their captain has their back if they get in trouble.

Posted by Sandwich35 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Rutherford wanted this fight. Everyone that thinks Wilson "jumped" Oleksiak before he was ready is clearly brain damaged. Both players had their gloves dropped before coming in contact. Oleksiak throws the FIRST punch. Wilson dips to the right to dodge the FIRST PUNCH THROWN BY OLEKSIAK and THEN he throws four punches. Oleksiak straight up bit off way more than he could chew and got completely owned. P.s. Ryan Reeves doesn't have shit on STANLEY CUP CHAMPION TOM WILSON!

GM Rutherford should keep his mouth shut before more of his players get hurt. Clean fight with a clear winner...Wilson.

Awesome job by Wilson love how he makes Crosby cry like the little bitch he is. Love to see Ovi beat the face off Crosby’s head

Posted by GCBC00 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Quick fight. Would have liked to see the two square off. Either way: Decisive win for Wilson.

Posted by FrmPro10 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Wilson has a lot to learn about the game. Cheap shots and garbage hits get you nowhere. Who cant knock out a guy when he's turned sideways skating up the boards? There's a code dude! Learn it and respect it. I would have loved to square off with you if you were around in my day!

Posted by retired2006 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

To the 3 retards who voted for Oleksiak, make sure your helmet is secure when you get in your car.

Posted by joep01 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

As a Penguins fan who appreciates a good scrap where our guy wins, I lamented the loss of Reaves. But I also started reading up here on Oleksiak's past fights with the expectation that - in the absence of a thug like RR - he would have to be the one to step up to deal with bad blood on the ice. In reading those reviews (and watching clips of J.O. in action over the years), I saw more than once you people point out that Oleksiak manifested signs of extreme recklessness and serious lack of awareness about his own vulnerability when rapidly initiating hand-to-hand combat. I wish I could find the exact comment, but one of y'all even said [paraphrasing] that Oleksiak would eventually get destroyed if he continued dropping the gloves so cavalierly. Clearly this was the night. I hate the Caps and I despise Tom Wilson [side note: I chirped at him on Twitter and he blocked me, just like @realdonaldtrump. Pussies! lol]. I yipped in delight when Reaves delivered that glorious blindside shoulder-to-shoulder hit that knocked Wilson out of the game earlier this month. But Wilson crushed/brutalized/slaughtered/annihilated Oleksiak here, and - most frustratingly - he did it cleanly and refrained from employing a finishing-move-esque final punch that probably would have literally killed Oleksiak once he'd crumpled. Utter domination. I appreciate Oleksiak's moxy in looking to scrap with Wilson, especially after Tom refused Oleksiak's challenge after breaking ZAR's jaw. But what Wilson did to him tonight was horrifying. It was stunning to see, and (assuming Oleksiak recovers from the serious concussion Wilson's punch left him with) I don't think I'll be able to look at #6 the same way ever again. Sad.

LOL at the loser pens fans

Posted by Jeffro6666 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Ouch! Rare knockout in what was a fair fight. Amusing how so many Wilson haters whine about," oh if Reaves was still a Penguin!" or Oleksiak wasn't ready, or whatever. Wilson has become someone who likely will be a 20/20 scorer this year, and who happens to be a good fighter. Unfortunately, Oleksiak caught a solid one and seems like despite his solid play the Penguins dropped him like a rock after Wilson ko'd him

Posted by Teeces12 on October 06, 2022 at 09:54 AM

Are some of these comments serious? Wilson blindsided him? Caught him off guard? Huh? He asked him if he wanted to go...J.O. threw the first punch...I need some clarification on some of these comments. I am a Caps fan. But I'm also one of the most unbiased fans you'll ever meet. Some of Willys past behavior has been deplorable. I don't think he ever intends to cross that line. He just plays incredibly close to it so its bound to happen. The dude is just an old hockey soul. It's really been a delight to watch him grow. He's chipping in on the score sheet and still handling business when need be. We all know EVERYBODY wants a Tom Wilson on their team. And the Reaves comments...Wilson has squared up with Reeves, so stop acting like he's scared of him or something. Reaves is nothing but an "Ice Gaurdian" while Wilson is shaping up to be a very valuable piece to this organization. Probably one of the top three most important players in this organization. His ability to spark any and every line he plays on is proof of that.
