Even when trying the old P.J. Stock duck-under-and-get-in-close strategy, Clune still could not land anything effective. Good use of the long reach by a pretty strong teenager. Easy win Wilson. I just hope Wilson doesn't get type-cast as an enforcer, he's sure fighting a lot for a first round pick.

The broadcast never made clear what precipitated the fight. My guess is that Clune wanted to get his side pumped up after a dominant Caps first period. Why Clune chose to tangle with Wilson, a big, tough 19 yr old, is beyond me. Wilson typically grabs some sweater by the yoke and works his foe's head like a paddleball until he has a clear right cross. He got two bombs in, one to the temple, one to the jaw, and down went Clune. Wilson is going to be a thumper. Clune should choose his foes more wisely.

Clune's a tough guy, but young Tom Wilson handles him start to finish.

Temperature in D.C. was -2 temperature under Willie's visor was '110 in the shade

I thought it was going to be a draw until Wilson connected at the end. Looked like it stunned Clune.

GMGM and Oates, please wake up. Your teenage first round pick from last year should NOT be doing all your fighting and playing 4th line minutes -- especially when he previously injured his hand in junior staving in a face shield. Rant over, clear, clear win for wilson

Posted by PucktotheHead on December 09, 2013 at 12:34 PM

Once again Wilson dominates with the gloves off. The kid can really throw them. He is also smart enough to know his limits.

Posted by DanielleinDC on December 07, 2013 at 11:43 PM

Wow, Wilson can really throw some serious bombs. You don't want to mess with him.

Posted by Behn Wilson on December 08, 2013 at 12:21 AM

Still not buying what Wilson is selling... but here he shows good patience while employing an effective "less is more" strategy to convincingly gain the edge over a persistent tenacious but ultimately out-sized Clune

Looked to me like Wilson buckled him at the end. Is it not time for a change YET in the Preds front office?

Posted by staceyb on December 07, 2013 at 09:46 PM

Clear win for Wilson. Problem for Nashville is their three toughies--Nystrom, Clune, and Hendricks--are all B-grade fighters.

Wilson in a close fight!

manhandled and subsequentially OWNED as wilson dispatched a much shorter opponent......Wilson seems to be turning out to be a decent player and scrapper. p.s.......Clune is a nhl punching bag

Posted by gorman0 on December 08, 2013 at 07:12 PM

Easy win for Wilson

Posted by bajo39 on December 08, 2013 at 09:16 AM

Wilson, fighting to his level, takes the W here. Give Clune credit though, I've seen enough fights from him in the A, and more recently the N, that there's a lifetime achievement award vote coming his way when somebody finally stops him.

Posted by bobprobert95 on December 09, 2013 at 08:07 AM

You should be able to beat up someone that much shorter that you. That's what happened. Good scrap though.

Posted by hkhk on December 09, 2013 at 11:16 AM

good fight wilson solid all around fighter and player

Posted by jcstokes on December 09, 2013 at 08:09 PM

Wilson is fighting way too much to have that shield in place. Rag dolls here. Credit to Clune.

Posted by boldbilly on December 08, 2013 at 10:54 AM

Wicked Wilson with the big right.....takes the win here Clune is the Scottish word for Clown.......errrr....think abuuuuuut it lol

Posted by Bob Shubop on December 09, 2013 at 12:07 AM

Cluniac will talk crap to, and fight, anyone. Wilson is too much for him here. But what's with the homer announcers saying he's a veteran??? He was a rookie last year, although he's been in the AHL for a long time in the Kings' organization. Good energetic fight.

Very good Grasshopper!

Posted by SEMO_Yogi on December 08, 2013 at 11:43 AM

I wonder how Clune's jaw feels this morning. Ouch... Wilson is one tough 19 year old.

Posted by mcgreger on December 09, 2013 at 01:23 PM

cant get used to one guy with visor and one without, fighting

Posted by dustyknuckles on December 08, 2013 at 10:00 AM

Decent bout Wilson lands a couple good ones.. despite giving up size difference clune does alright and starts to mount a comback but win wilson

Posted by EK65 on December 07, 2013 at 10:54 PM

Predators quantity over quality approach has not worked.. Clune/Hendricks/Nystrom does not equal one big dog! The kid Wilson is pretty good and only gonna get better! Scary

Posted by EH611 on December 08, 2013 at 12:17 PM

Clune started off well but ultimately couldn't handle Wilson's strength and Wilson landed the better blows.

Posted by MACMAN214 on December 08, 2013 at 08:34 AM

easy win Wilson

Posted by DARCY T on December 08, 2013 at 05:59 AM

clune did a good job fighting much bigger opponent but im giving the edge to wilson after all

Posted by sedinfan on December 08, 2013 at 01:03 PM

Clune looked like Theo Fluery as he seemed much smaller than Wilson.

Posted by Baladoc on December 08, 2013 at 08:10 AM

Say what you want but hype visor had no bearing on the outcome of this one. It looked like the jr high playground champ taking on the sr chigh playground champ. Wilson wins this one 9/10 times.

Posted by Great Murray on December 08, 2013 at 10:12 AM

Clune has the seeds but this guy is WAY too much for him. A beat down for sure! Wonder why Clune got a US? In Shanahan's/Bettman's weenie soccer on ice is it illegal to bash your face into someone else's fist? Draw? I guess you can achieve a draw now if you smash your face into your opponents fist...Come on boys! Are you assuming that none of us actually watch the video before we vote?

Good scrap for wilson .. very tough 19 year old...

Posted by Pindar on December 09, 2013 at 10:51 PM

Good fight. Win Wilson.

Posted by eaglesrule3620 on December 09, 2013 at 10:21 PM

I love this Tom Wilson kid. He's a good all around player, but he's by far the best fighter the Caps have had since Erskine.

Posted by Mike2013 on December 08, 2013 at 07:15 PM

Not sure how anyone could vote for Clune winning this fight. Unless winning means to hit your opponents fist with your face...

Posted by erikk3 on December 07, 2013 at 08:42 PM

not bad for a 19 year old! i like this kid

Posted by blwiseass on December 08, 2013 at 09:58 AM

I was at the game. Clune chased Wilson for a bit, giving soft slashes to get Wilson to engage. Looked like Wilson didn't feel like it given that the caps had a 3-0 lead but Clune wasn't backing down until the fight happened. Easy win for Wilson.

Posted by stewfam7278 on December 07, 2013 at 10:16 PM

Wilson proved he can kick ass again

Posted by perezj on December 08, 2013 at 10:40 AM

Take the face shed off...what a pussy.

Posted by Humper on December 07, 2013 at 09:16 PM

Wilson takes it to Clune.

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on December 07, 2013 at 11:10 PM

Wilson is a big boy. Nice shot toward the end. He's going to be a good fighter to watch.

Posted by Ratank on December 08, 2013 at 12:46 PM

Well, size does matter after all...

Posted by chad420 on December 09, 2013 at 10:33 AM

win Willie Whistle

Posted by Biggus on December 08, 2013 at 12:14 PM

All Wilson here.

Posted by johnsonc007 on December 07, 2013 at 09:37 PM

Clune didn't have a chance punching a visor

Posted by King of Goons on December 08, 2013 at 04:55 AM

Love Wilson …hate the visor. Anyone who doesn't remove the visor has a mangina. For all the f*gs on this site who say "He can't remove the visor, it's the rules": Yes, he CAN remove the visor. Learn the game. If both players remove their helmets they both get matching penalties and there is no manpower advantage. Can anyone ever imagine Terry O'reilly, Clark Gillies or Dave Brown fighting with a visor on? It would never happen. Why? Because none of them are b*tches. This is a new generation of cowardly Nancy's with no sense of honor and respect. Visor = LOSS.

Spirited but nothing, you blow if don't rate a draw, both threw em but nothing happening here, if you voted Wilson or Clune you r a homo, Sorry homer
