Oleksiak gets the nod here. You have to love Simmonds heart!

Posted by buzzgun2000 on December 02, 2018 at 01:17 AM

Steve McKenna was a tall man.

Posted by von_swine on December 02, 2018 at 05:23 AM

ok, so if you're 6' 11" & only fight like 5-6 times a year, who is there to be afraid of thesedays?.. Not like any Troy Crowders are comin up thru the ranks ever again... good tilt, and Mr. Simmonds is ALL man for steppin to the Big Rig, gloves off,... but if you don't land early & heavy on Oleksiak, you're prolly gonna get worked... #6 FTW

Posted by D3vlsAdvoc8 on December 02, 2018 at 09:02 AM

If you dismiss helmet punches, looks pretty even to me. Blood doesn't give any edge in a fight unless you judge fights by who "looks" worse. Appeared that both landed 2 really good punches, Big O early and Simmonds late. Draw and 6 IMO.

Posted by boldbilly on December 02, 2018 at 03:30 AM

That was a decent scrap.....I scored it at 6 and gave the edge to the big O .... You have to love the courage and ability of Simmonds as he gets no beauty rest here....I especially liked his posturepedic in this fight......As some of you may or may not know it’s hard to fight a Sasquatch

Posted by sndaysnipr on December 01, 2018 at 09:44 PM

Nice tilt but Big Rig is too much for Wayno. Looks like Simmonds might need some nose work after the game.

Posted by canamrugby on December 02, 2018 at 01:31 PM

Gave it to Oleksiak by a very narrow margin but hats off to a generally classy and very tough Simmonds for taking on a much bigger opponent.

Posted by JCobra67 on December 01, 2018 at 08:46 PM

What was Oleksiak doing with his left arm. He kept putting it in a bad spot and getting turned around and exposing the back of his head. It actually happened twice and both times he put himself in the position. He still won but by doing the above he made it a closer fight.

Posted by Lapointe20 on December 07, 2018 at 06:22 PM

Wow. I've never fought someone that much bigger than me and curse me for a coward but I never will. You're a better man than me, Wayne Simmonds! Amazingly, Wayne fights his way back to a draw (IMHO) after taking that first uppercut to the beak, which would have felled most mammals. I see it as a draw and give those boys a hand (and a 8).

Posted by PeterQuistgard on January 16, 2021 at 11:19 PM

Props for the Wayne Train for holding his own against a much larger opponent. This was a fun one.

Posted by TigerRAWk on January 16, 2021 at 11:19 PM

A fun bout...especially the waving off the official.

Posted by IActuallyPlayHockey on January 16, 2021 at 11:19 PM

My God Oleksiak is a big dude. He gets the win on this one, the first uppercut early set the tone. Wayne Simmonds is a hell of a hockey player, I give him credit for hanging around with the bigger Oleksiak, especially after taking a few solid shots early.

Posted by ClownTown on January 16, 2021 at 11:19 PM

If Oleksiak is the guy everyone wants him to be, then this shouldn't have been this close. Oleksiak gets the narrow W for busting open Simmer's beak. If it weren't for that, I'd need a very good reason not to call this a draw

Posted by wildfan4eva on December 02, 2018 at 02:25 PM

WTF? Oleksiak with the win by majority? Wow.....this site has TRULY lost all of its morality...smh

Posted by gkyle on December 03, 2018 at 10:54 PM

Simmons got more punches

Posted by giantsfrey on December 05, 2018 at 02:40 AM

Nice bout. Two guys who aren't afraid to get hit in the face. Gotta admire both of these dudes--Oleksiak is huge, and Simmonds is a certified badass. Edge to Oleksiak for the early connects. His first punch looks like the one that drew blood, then Simmonds gathered himself by turtling for a few seconds then got the big man turned around and defused.

Posted by natron on December 07, 2018 at 04:12 PM

Wayne is a complete warrior

Posted by Sparky99 on December 09, 2018 at 08:52 PM

Good Heavyweight tilt! Not sure if Simmonds won but he would look great in Blue and White with a Mapleleaf on his jersey come spring!

Posted by Joey-Kocur26 on December 09, 2018 at 07:35 PM

Busted nose!

Posted by chucky1 on December 06, 2018 at 07:50 PM

Oleksiak got the better of Simmonds! Simmonds was also bleeding pretty bad from the nose....

Posted by CanuckInAmerica on December 02, 2018 at 09:31 AM

Finally, an NHL scrap with a hint of hostility. Both were throwing 'em pretty good and glad to see the lids came off thereby mitigating any potential "visor damage" to the hands. In response to Behn......agree with viewing the top ten but would also suggest people go to "Leagues" then "LNAH"......always good bouts there.

Posted by EK65 on December 02, 2018 at 06:02 PM

Simmonds goes looking to spark his squad. Oleksiak is a big dude. The two have a pretty good tilt but, Oleksiak's initial flurry mixed with his general control garner him enough to get a victory. Love the shooing of the refs by Oleksiak. Win & 7

Posted by staceyb on December 02, 2018 at 08:01 AM

Give it to Lexy for the schnoz shot as that was Wayne's blood on the ice. Wayne in the post-game: "He got me good."

Posted by slambo on December 06, 2018 at 06:20 AM

Simmonds earned a draw in my book, although he may have taken slightly more damage. Too close to call really... d/6

Posted by web1350 on December 01, 2018 at 11:29 PM

First of all, Behn, WTF are you talking about? It makes no sense at all as it applies to this fight. Secondly, tacomania, size doesn't matter, at least in a fight. Behn, gotcha now and after reading your explanation and re-reading your post it becomes much more clear. Sorry for any hint of impropriety. None intended, just a little confused. It's all good.

Posted by GreatMurray on December 02, 2018 at 08:15 AM

Simmonds takes one for the team and gets them going...good on him...but he did not come close to winning the fight. All Oleksiak!

Posted by basilrathbone on December 02, 2018 at 10:34 PM

oleksiak won it early

Posted by rowbearprobear on December 02, 2018 at 03:11 PM

Oleksiak with the win. Might have broke Big Wayne’s nose. Simmonds gets the respect of the forum boys with a “good job, Wayne.” Tough way to earn a living.

Posted by mo_town on December 02, 2018 at 10:18 AM

All Jamie but give Simmonds credit for dropping his gloves

Posted by bluto1313 on December 02, 2018 at 02:38 PM

Good scrap

Posted by Ihatehartnell on December 03, 2018 at 12:07 PM

Looked like Simmonds tried to catch Oleksiak at the end of a shift. He's pretty well conditioned and fed him a bunch of early uppercuts. Don't see how anyone could pick Simmonds as the winner. Homers.

Posted by GatheringStorm on December 03, 2018 at 10:27 AM

I love how Oleksiak told the linesmen to back off.

Posted by chemBrain on December 02, 2018 at 09:57 AM

Great fight

Posted by ChuckinKnuckles on December 03, 2018 at 05:56 PM

Oleksiak, 6. Why Dallas ever let this guy walk is obscene. He is the very embodiment of Derian Hatcher. Big, nasty defenseman who can easily clear folks out from the crease and who doesn't mind dropping the gloves either.

Posted by toocool on December 02, 2018 at 07:57 PM

Nice spirited tilt. Edge goes to Oleksiak with a 7

Posted by Ethereal on December 02, 2018 at 08:24 AM

Oleksiak dominated with his size and Simmonds couldn't get up close. Good fight.

Posted by prjones85 on December 06, 2018 at 12:35 PM

big O won the battle, but simmer won the war.....

Posted by Mounty in NC on December 01, 2018 at 09:56 PM

Fairly even but Oleksak draws blood and gets the win

Posted by nirvana on December 01, 2018 at 08:02 PM

An ok fight by today standards win big O

Simmons with a lot of heart, but he paid the price. As usual, the flyer fans have a hard time admitting he lost. No draw here.

Posted by asponsel on December 01, 2018 at 09:40 PM

Can't wait till Sam Morin in back and can put that dude down on the regular

Posted by tacomania on December 01, 2018 at 08:58 PM

nothing more than a draw for me here ,but if the smaller fighter hangs in I usually give it to him sorry pens

Posted by BruinManiac on December 01, 2018 at 07:39 PM

Trash City Simmonds fights like a girl and gets summarily trashed by Oleksiak.

Posted by jawhockey on December 03, 2018 at 09:01 AM

Not sure what fight people were watching to call it a drew? Typical Flyers fans can not face the face Simmonds got an ASS whipping. I like Simmonds but facts are facts.

Posted by [email protected] on December 01, 2018 at 08:36 PM

Good spirited fight. Wish Simmonds was a Bruin. Oleksiak fights like a short Chara.

Posted by Flyers2019 on December 02, 2018 at 02:13 AM

Ok. Jamie gets the edge but he has like 70 pounds and 5 inches on Simmonds but my man Wayne backs down from no one. Give this fight a high 6 but wayne is that dude. Jamie wins the fight, Simmonds wins the night.t

Posted by Old Grouch on December 01, 2018 at 08:42 PM

Most voted for Oleksiak as the winner of this fight but I chose Simmonds. Oleksiak threw a lot of punches early but not all connected. Simmonds came back and connected more frequently overall. Very close bought but I give the edge to Simmonds.

Posted by Behn Wilson on December 01, 2018 at 11:06 PM

Finally... Something semi-interesting As Simmonds admirably fights up a few weight classes while Oleksiak channels his inner Barnaby ref wave... Mainly a miss-fest of epic “disproportions” but whenever the largest Penguin gets engaged by an understandably cautious Mr Freakish Reach... the entertainment potential alone makes Cole vs Dunn look like... well... Cole vs Dunn Sidebar... Since... other than this rare nugget... things have been a little “stagnatious” lately... I’d like to take this opportunity to suggest to whomever might be interested that they come over to the “all-time top ten” thread in the “remember when” section of the forums and put in their two cents I didn’t start it but was thinking that it might be an insightful and pleasant holiday season distraction from the ever-decreasing frequency and quality of this season’s fight card and participants No heavy lifting... I’d just be interested in seeing everyone’s (except Stallone’s) updated top ten lists with explanations as to why or not No pressure Consider it a collective morale move Happy holidays And PS Web1350... A) as I explained to you directly... I specifically chose this fight to post that because due to the popularity of the combatants... I assumed that it would allow my innocent invite to get the most visibility B) I prefaced the entire speech on my impression of the overall decline in quality and quantity of fighting in general by clearly stating that... “other than this rare nugget”... and C) Let’s be honest... you can colour me pacifistic... but in retrospect... did that sincere collective holiday invitation to a community “top-ten-off” (irregardless of its placement) really seem to warrant a wtf? Come on Bud Happy holidays

Posted by Rangeley_blkbea on December 02, 2018 at 09:57 PM

huh? Oleksiak landed about 3% of a mad flurry of flailing, if you count punches that land this is a draw. if you like mad sound and fury, then Oleksiak is your man.

Posted by Humper on December 01, 2018 at 08:07 PM

Pretty even number of shots landed by both, but Oleksiak takes this with the one that caused Simmonds to leak.

Posted by jerry s on December 02, 2018 at 05:20 AM

would like to see a reaves Oleksiak have a go

Posted by dumpster fire on December 01, 2018 at 08:27 PM

Hey Wayne, how do those tampons up your nose smell?

Posted by samtheman on December 02, 2018 at 09:07 AM

Oleksiak was ahead on points but Simmons was still going when he held on for the refs to step in. I gave it a draw.
