Clear draw IMO

Posted by Maxwerm on December 11, 2009 at 11:44 AM

I'm a Nucks homer, but this is a draw. The fact that the Ripper didn't get his head knocked off makes up for the fact that he received more than he gave. He doesn't win every fight, but he's definitely IN every fight.

Posted by hal29 on February 18, 2011 at 09:44 PM

win Rypien but it wasn't a dominating win. Rypien is a weak puncher and cares more about his faggy defense then anything. Close win as Boris landed the harder punches and Rypien landed the softer girly punches. Yeah no Valabik didn't get dropped, he went off balance. Yeah Rypien is a boxer and cares about his defense not doing him to good now. Boxing on skates is not affective. Rypien is a weak ass puncher.

draw

Posted by 2001GT on January 02, 2010 at 01:33 AM

The jersey over the head at the end doesnt make up the beats Rick took earlier. Draw

Posted by Jellyczar on December 12, 2009 at 09:07 PM

Have to go draw..... i dislike the big valabik, but can only give Rypien a draw.

Posted by scorp1on on December 12, 2009 at 04:24 PM

A jersey over the head does not a win make... but it does turn a Valabik edge into a draw. Rypien shows his iron man quality again. I'd like to see him go with someone else with stamina like Jim Vandermeer.

Posted by Vince Clortho on December 11, 2009 at 03:04 PM

Draw. Even though Rypien got the Jersey over the head, he didn't win that fight. He is damn strong, though.

Posted by kryon24 on December 11, 2009 at 07:50 AM

Have to go Draw with this one (and could see edge to Boris) because of volume and damaging punches. Ripper jersyed him at the end but The Big Dopey Commie landed a couple of bombs early and Rick stayed in there. Should've been a massacre because of the size advantage but as usual Rick withstood the early flurry to finish strong. He is the only good thing about the Canucks. Boris must have taken the Parros Balancing Class. If he figures that out, he could be a dangerous fighter later on.

Posted by gmann14 on December 11, 2009 at 11:33 AM

Good even fight I like rypien as much as anyone but he does not win every fight sometimes its a draw or he doesnt win at all.Leafs suck!!!

Posted by jak521 on December 11, 2009 at 09:03 AM

This is a draw hands down.. so much bias on this board its crazy... Valabik had the early edge and controlled rypien until rypien got the jersey up. Those punches didnt really hit much. A cut on the face of Rypien and not a mark on Valabik... because of the size difference and the fact that rypien finished strong its scored a draw.

Posted by duck69 on December 11, 2009 at 02:40 AM

Boris was better, but at end he made little mistake.

Posted by briggsy on December 12, 2009 at 12:54 PM

Great fight. Boris early. Rick late. This makes it a draw in my opinion. Both guys landed at different stages.

Posted by aces50 on December 11, 2009 at 10:10 AM

Nice job Rypien!

Posted by shrk33 on December 11, 2009 at 12:40 PM

Rypien holds out on the bigger Valabik and then capitalizes towards the end. Win for Rypien

Posted by Fighting Fischy on December 12, 2009 at 10:19 AM

ok first of all valabik is soft.com. he thought rypien wanting to fight him was funny cuz the ripper is smaller than him. guess he should have thought twice here as the ripper more than held is own. again valabik is big but hes soft.

Posted by billy jack on December 11, 2009 at 01:29 AM

kanes a chicken shit, and big boris got pounded and went down before he got knocked senseless, tootoo droped big boris last year.

Posted by Bad Dawg on December 11, 2009 at 09:53 AM

Win to Ripper, you got to take a few to give a few. Typical Euro who picks on a smaller guy but got the pounding the sack of #$%& deserved!!!!!!!!

Posted by mikebflorida on December 14, 2009 at 09:58 AM

Big Boris should be embarrassed. Win Ripper. Hello? Morons- it's how the fight ends, not how it starts or who SHOULD win.

Posted by BruinLeader on December 13, 2009 at 08:35 PM

Easy win for Rypien. Beat down Valabik.

Posted by tattooedkingpin on December 11, 2009 at 11:31 AM

Nice fight by the Ripper. Gets another W

Posted by digitalroc on December 13, 2009 at 04:09 PM

Valabik had a chance, but failed to capitalize. Rypien is a very good fighter. RR gets the W.

Posted by JMiller29 on December 11, 2009 at 08:57 AM

When a guy FALLS to the ice he doesn't automatically lose...it goes to the judges, but when he intentionally takes a knee, the way 'ol Boris did, then that equates to a tap-out to me. MMA fighters can be getting the worst of a fight, but if they can put a guy in a vulnerable position and make him quit then they get the W. Love that patented forearm block...he's still the only one I've seen use it.

Posted by ANGLEofdarkness on December 11, 2009 at 02:48 PM

When the opponent takes a knee, the other guy wins. Valabik didn't trip, he went down voluntarily to end the fight. Rypien wins.

Posted by Marpole Dealer on December 11, 2009 at 04:17 PM

It was close, but you have to give Rypien the decision based on size disadvantage. And, Boris is a chump for laughing at Rypien at the start, then dropping to his knee's at the end. This ain't czechoslovakia boris, the scrappers here aren't scared of you just because you're big.

Posted by Clark75 on December 12, 2009 at 02:58 PM

Rick Rypien with another impressive victory. Although, he was fighting Boris Valabik who is a terrible fighter. Looks good on him after acting as though he would dominate Rypien. Love how Ryp blocks with his left. Serious skillz. Valabik's $hit!

Posted by thebigbea55 on December 11, 2009 at 02:45 AM

rypien.. mostly because he gives up like 7 inches and 60-70 pounds to the guy

Posted by QUIGGS22 on December 14, 2009 at 07:50 AM

I don't like Rypien but he gets my vote for the win.

Posted by aaronious on December 11, 2009 at 09:07 AM

Rick Rypien rules.

Posted by Dave Brown HOF on December 11, 2009 at 02:34 PM

Win Rypien but it was pretty close for awhile. I really don't know how you could see it any other way. Rypien took some solid shots and then started feeding Valabik at the end, which made Valabik turtle. Turtling is the equivalent to giving up/tapping out and the linsemen had to jump in there to save Valabik after he turtles. So if a guy gives up, he loses... PERIOD! Hopefully this will put to rest all you Rypien haters who were whining like little babies about Rypien only fighting these monsters who can't fight. Well Valabik CAN fight. When he was in the OHL, he was widely considered the very toughest guy in the league and will probably make a name for himself in the NHL too. Someday Rypien probably will get a beating from one of these giants but it wasn't today.

Posted by tonydomi1 on December 12, 2009 at 01:28 PM

I give the W to Ripper for fighting a guy that outweighs him by 60lbs. The kid is a gamer. Please don't try this with Boogey though!

Posted by Awesome-0 on December 11, 2009 at 02:23 AM

Rdge to Rypien by the slightest of margins. Valabik was doing just fine until he got the jersey over his head. Really though, whenever Rypien fights someone who is so far out of his weight class that he could/should get just demolished with a single solid punch, yet doesn't, it's a victory.

Posted by kimo_coyote on December 12, 2009 at 11:44 AM

Got to like Rypien....

Posted by HerbRaglan on December 11, 2009 at 11:24 PM

That was great to watch! I like how on the additional feed they cut the feed a little quick when Rypien was pounding Valabik...that had to be the Atlanta feed.

Posted by omorales on December 13, 2009 at 08:21 PM

Nice fight, Rypien's a pitbull, no doubt about it

Posted by Juha82 on December 11, 2009 at 06:10 AM

cya boris , rypien the new domi?

Posted by bostonrs555 on December 11, 2009 at 08:22 AM

Rypien outsmarts the big oaf by letting Valabik tie himself up by trying to get his arm out and letting go at the proper moment, thus beating him with that free hand.... freakin work of art man, win to R squared...

Posted by pauleolithic on December 14, 2009 at 03:46 PM

How anyone can pick Valabik for the win is beyond me. This isn't professional boxing, you don't score points, it's hockey, and the last man standing wins. When the linesmen jump in to save your butt, you loose. Valabik looses.

Posted by no123one on December 12, 2009 at 02:51 AM

Rick Rypien chopped him down like a 7ft christmas tree. Damn, these 7ft europeans should learn that even they are no match for 5'10 Canadians! LOL! Imagine how deflating it is to be 7" taller and 60lbs heavier than Rypien, and hitting him with EVERYTHING you got, and you can't knock the little guy down. The the little guy comes back and beats your eurotrash head into the ice. This is boner-ific! To think Rypien played with the Manitoba Moose all those years, and I didn't get to many of his games. Shame on me.

Posted by Madcheddar on December 12, 2009 at 12:41 AM

Once again The Ripper saws down dumbass trees like Huskavana. I love it when NHL chumps think they are going to do something and the Pitbull saws 'em down and make 'em beg for mercy...welcome Boris you're just another victime kid...view hockfights before you fight knucklehead.

Posted by CairnsIsGod33 on December 12, 2009 at 02:03 AM

Rypien is the #1 contender for MW Champ. When he fights and beats Cam Janssen, I'll gladly give him the title. Fight wise, Ryp fights smart in the beginning and the dominates Valabik. Win Rypien

Posted by bruins rule on December 11, 2009 at 08:17 AM

rypien gets the win in this fight.

Posted by Bud_W_Eiser on December 13, 2009 at 08:05 AM

Rypein's proves it's not the size of the dog in the fight that matters but rather the size of the fight in the dog.

Posted by indoblazin on December 11, 2009 at 01:30 PM

Rypien once again proves he is the pound-for-pound best fighter in the league. The 41lb weight difference is misleading because it doesn't factor in the weight of Rypien's brass ones. Valabik takes on a lose-lose situation meanwhile the legend of Ripper continues to grow....

Posted by slavv on December 13, 2009 at 04:13 PM

Rypien dominated. Linesmaen had to step in when Valabik was down after getting and while getting pummeled...

Posted by jscore08 on December 21, 2009 at 10:26 PM

rick rypiennnn sickest fighter in the game. this guy should quit. thats embarassing. talking sh*t before the fight and then gets dummied. awful.

Posted by gsshfxnsca on December 11, 2009 at 11:07 AM

First half was pretty much grappling, but Rypien wins the last half. I'm giving it to Rypien. I mean how do you not get destroyed when you are down by 7 inches and 50 pounds? Rypien is crazy. Just unbelievable. I have no clue how he can do this with someone so much larger. Congrats Rypien. He proves a saying I've never liked or thought much of... till now... "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog."

Posted by Goldthorp on December 12, 2009 at 06:09 PM

Rypien wins but is pretty lucky in the process. Valabik should have easily won but Rypien out worked him. I think Valabik thought it was going to be easy or something. Then he ends up getting undressed by a much smaller opponent. I bet he's still bugged by the whole thing. We'll see if he goes after Boogie tonight. That could get messy.

Posted by mateaus on December 12, 2009 at 01:11 AM

Posted by Grandjammer on December 11, 2009 at 10:14 PM

This was a good fight. Nothing amazing, and not fight of the year in my opinion, but definitely one to remember. Rypien challenging a guy with almost 70 lbs on him and definitely more reach is nothing short of courageous. I give this one to Rypien, he lands more shots, doesn't smack his hand into the glass like Valabik does, and ultimately takes Valabik down. Gotta give Valabik those early hits though, the ones that didnt glance were heavy for sure, but Rypien took them in stride and held on for the win. Congrats Rick Rypien!

Posted by djray5000 on December 12, 2009 at 01:51 AM

Very close for me to call, but a nice come from behind win for Rypien.

Posted by tavis82 on December 12, 2009 at 05:46 PM

Rypien takes it. Sorry to say but a jearsy wrap will almost always get the win unless the guy pulls off a quik exit. But if a guy finishes a fight that way you pretty much have to give it to him.

Posted by jonp_apple on December 13, 2009 at 04:01 AM

Rypien is pound for pound the best fighter in the game. I really wish he had challenged Boogaard tonight but Rypien is way more valuable to his team than Boogaard, so it would be a bad trade off!

Rypien takes down the giant.

Posted by micah555 on December 11, 2009 at 04:49 AM

Valabik ends up hiding and hoping that the refs will save him... That's either sad or a real testament to Rypien. Yes, Boris landed some good shots, but for a guy to be so much bigger than his opponent and to end up jersied and being beaten down, that really says a lot about how good Rypien is. Simply amazing. Rypien with another incredible win.

Posted by huddles on December 11, 2009 at 08:26 AM

dear homers thrasher with the win signed fan of neither team, early blast took win over late flurry by your boyman

Posted by riffraff on December 12, 2009 at 12:00 AM

BV gets embarrassed in front of 20 000 and his bench smirking away until the refs bailed him out with his jersey 'round his head....big puss....anyone who could credit BV after this must have lost to many fights to their little brother growing up. "Shultz09 calling code violations? do you play soccer or something? Anyone repping Shultz and calling code obviously has no idea what Shultz was like as an ahem "enforcer". dude was one of the cheapest ever.....if you get jerseyed by someone 8" shorter than you, maybe its time to consider cutting off the blade and having a try at ringette. Rypien; humbling wannabes one at a time.

Posted by dorobo on December 11, 2009 at 01:12 AM

I just love how Valabik was laughing at Rypien's face "whacha gonna do little chump?" Then Rypien drop em' and was like "if you're gonna talk the talk, better walk the walk boyee".

Posted by Xeshybrid on December 11, 2009 at 01:52 AM

Rypien wins.

Posted by BattleAxe13 on December 11, 2009 at 03:07 PM

No wonder Valabik always hits and runs and ducks the heavies, he can't even handle a midget. A tough midget at that but Boris please don't ever fight again, infact maybe you should uh try out to be the new Barney the purple dinosaur. There is no way a guy as big as Valabik should lose to a guy Rypiens size. Embarrassing!

Posted by itsthizzbaby on March 21, 2010 at 02:01 PM

I was at this game, Rypien worked Boris, he didn't even have a chance. Boris got lucky at first when Rypien sort of screwed up trying to grab the monsters jersey. After this, it was all Rypien, a major win for him especially because it was a 65 pound 8 inch difference between them.

Posted by rwlsn on December 19, 2009 at 06:18 PM

with the size difference it should have been no contest but heart and skill overcame the big goons advantage

Posted by nuckles88 on December 21, 2009 at 05:28 AM

RYPIEN IS THE KING!!!!!! guy laughing at him at first for wanting to fight but rypper sure wiped that smile off his face as he knocks him down to the ice! Huge win for rypper!

8 inches and 70 lbs difference....and Rypien wins. Good on him

Posted by flanders70 on December 11, 2009 at 12:06 PM

Later in the broadcast they did show a different angle and Valabik did land a couple of early big punches, including the punch that cut Rypien's ear. But, Ripper also landed two big bombs that stunned the big commie. I'd give the edge to Rypien and boy does Valabik look like an ass for laughing at Rypien before they dropped the gloves.

Posted by Susdy22 on December 11, 2009 at 02:56 PM

Rypien knows that you have to take a few to give a few and the big goofy Valabik doesn't seem to get that. Ripper wiped the smirk Valabik had before the fight off his face and although Ripper was cut on the ear it was Valabik who turtled and is the loser in this bout. It must be embarassing for a guy that big to be punched to the ground having to be bailed out by the refs so he wouldn't get hurt by a guy 75 pounds lighter.

Posted by trailmix on December 11, 2009 at 08:39 AM

Rypien with the win. No way did Boris win. He should be ashamed for turtling at the end, Rypien took his shots early and stayed in there.

Posted by Crovie on December 11, 2009 at 12:44 AM

Valabik had the edge early but Rypien came back for the win. Would have liked to see it last a few seconds longer but the refs broke it up when Valabik turtled.

Posted by Nuck1ehead on December 11, 2009 at 02:45 AM

Posted by pixely on December 11, 2009 at 03:37 AM

With an 8" height advantage and ~70lbs weight advantage, there is no way Valabik should be on his knees trying to get up from that fight. Rypien is scary. Period.

Posted by bobbyloouu on September 24, 2010 at 08:36 PM

hahahahaha yeah Rypper

Posted by Bloodbank on December 11, 2009 at 06:45 AM

Valabik gets the early lead but then Rypien jerseys him and drives him to the ice with a flurry of lefts. Valabik scratching his head in the box wondering WTH was that? Stare down gets you a beat down...No edge or draw here kids, if you are losing a fight but drive your opponent to his knees with punches - you win. Decision: RYPIEN with a KD win.

Posted by slshbleed on December 11, 2009 at 03:08 PM

Off the top of my head, fight of the year so far. I don't think Valabik thought Rypien would drop em. Rypien hung around until he got into a position where he had an advantage and didn't let Valabik back up. Sure Valabik landed a few early, but I don't see how you can say Valabik won that fight.

Posted by rpw1 on December 16, 2009 at 08:45 PM

You ask the Canucks sitting on the bench who won this fight. Rypien won by the simple reason he took on a giant and fought him to a draw. Nothing else can pump a team like that! That gets him the WIN! Just so you know, I hate the Canucks, but I love the guts of Rypien.

It must be hard to reach that far up, but Rypien's got the knack of pounding the biggest guys. For a while there I thought Rypien's finally bit off more than he can chew, with Big Boris's fist looking like an Xmas ham in width and weight. But I shouldn't have doubted the Ripper.

Posted by vancitybc2010 on December 11, 2009 at 09:40 AM

Rypien clearly won this fight. He was letting Valabik throw the punches early on so he would open up and expose himself. Rypien knew what he is doing, he is a MMA fighter and it clearly shows. People here who think Valabik won are just haters and don't realize how remarkable it is to fight someone who is 70 pounds bigger and stay in there, to only make him take a knee at the end. Rypien wins and anyone who thinks otherwise is OUT TO LUNCH.

Posted by rypien171 on December 12, 2009 at 06:43 PM

Rick rypien i beleive is the undisputed champion of the nhl right now, adding boris whos 8 inches taller and has 60 pounds on rypien and getting dominated, this adds to the list that includes players like stortini. Rypien is amazing

I don't know how anybody could vote for a win for Rypien. Valabik got in the most shots. Rypien ended up pulling Valabik's sweater over his head and then got a couple of shots in. Total violation of the code. Valabik cut Rypien as well. Win Valabik.

Posted by mbaumann on December 11, 2009 at 01:24 PM

Just becasue you like a certain fighter is no reason to vote for him. Case in point right here. Rypien did NOT win that fight. Anywone who thinks he did is a moron.

Posted by jikon on December 11, 2009 at 06:19 AM

Valabik with a win! I don't know how anyone can call this a Rypien win. Just because you jersey someone doesn't mean you win a fight, esp. if you need to get stitches...

Posted by SirYohans on December 11, 2009 at 05:14 AM

Sorry Homies. Rick Rypien did NOT win this fight. I love the dude, but lets be serious.

BV with the win..

Posted by KMprodigy on December 29, 2009 at 07:25 AM

Valabik was better during the fight, he scored a cut. Rypien used Valabik s jersey well at the end, but i cannot say he is the winner. If Valabik was able to put off his jersey, Rick ends in hospital. Edge Valabik.

Posted by Oil Can Henry on December 12, 2009 at 12:57 AM

Not a lot of quality punches, but Rypien did come-on to take this one.

Posted by samtheman on December 11, 2009 at 07:48 PM

I am a big fan of Rypien but I'm not sure how so many give him the win. I'm going draw because I can't tell if any of those late punches landed. Big props to him for dropping with someone that size and holding his own.

Posted by gmr133 on December 11, 2009 at 09:55 AM

"...adding to the list of Zack Stortini and Hal Gill..." The list? What list? The list of big stiffs who can't fight? draw.

Posted by Dijo on December 11, 2009 at 09:55 PM

That was such a draw. I like Rypien too, but give me a break here. He only got going at the end after he pulled Valabik's jersey over his head. That's so cheap and you guys on here all know it and you still voted for Rypien. I'm not an Atlanta fan and I really do like Rypien, but you can't vote for a guy just because he gives up so much weight. What would you guys be writing if Brashear did what Rypien did? All this proves is that Rypien is more popular than Valabik. He didn't win anything here.

Shame you don't see the entire fight. I want to see how Valabik lost his helmet!

Posted by Bahjay on December 11, 2009 at 03:13 AM

I love watching Ripper tilt as much as the next guy, but lets be honest with ourselves Nuck fans, he absorbed more damage than he gave in this one. Total respect for taking on another monster and holding his own, but you can't pull the wool over your eyes and say he won this one just because he got the jersey over Valabiks head at the end. Calling it a draw.

Posted by Wings_19 on December 11, 2009 at 11:14 PM

Rypien's a beast but after watching the additional video you gotta give it a draw cause of Valabik's early punches.

Posted by azjim on December 13, 2009 at 11:11 PM

The thing is, Valabik is a really bad fighter. So Rypien should have won, knowing his bulldog attitude. And he did.

Posted by barnibizer on December 13, 2009 at 07:05 AM

Fight of the yr!! Idiot! Crappy fight, edge Rypien but jersey over head made it poor at end.

Posted by illukka on December 11, 2009 at 09:53 AM

what the fuck,,,' win rypien

Posted by piney on December 11, 2009 at 09:22 PM

love the jersey move

Posted by bigdog2007 on December 13, 2009 at 01:17 PM

Rypien has to be the toughest pound for pound. I am not a Nucks fan, but damn.

Posted by old55guy on December 11, 2009 at 09:49 PM

Wow...Huge size and weight difference and Rypien starts out in some trouble and somehow comes back for the win?, R.R. is the best reason to watch Canucks games this season..

Posted by muskokadangler on December 11, 2009 at 11:48 AM

After viewing the fight completely on you tube.........I have no doubt Ripper gets the win. Vally Girl landed some big shots at the start and the Ripper" DID NOT QUIT"!!!!!! Then Ripper takes over and starts landing and Vally Girl goes down because he was getting FED....................WIN The Ripper....End of Discussion!!!!

Posted by GinoOdjick on December 12, 2009 at 01:56 PM

Best pound for pound fighter in the league. Rippers a beast. Ferraro should do all the Nucks games, not just the PPV

Posted by crazybubs on December 11, 2009 at 03:40 AM

Ripper is a beast! Boris threw some decent shots early, but Ripper hung in and finished strong. Boris should feel shame with the mismatch loss..

Posted by chad420 on December 15, 2009 at 11:06 PM

the ripper....back in the saddle again

Posted by lets_go on December 11, 2009 at 04:29 PM

How can you not love Rypien? This is awesome

Posted by TrueBlue26 on December 11, 2009 at 11:06 AM

rick rypein is an animal

Posted by BigBadBruins68 on March 22, 2010 at 08:38 PM

Once the Ripping Machine got his left hand free, it was all she wrote for Valabik. What really is impressive about Rypien is his defense, the way he keeps his arm up and waitsfor his opportunity to counter.

Posted by goody72 on December 11, 2009 at 02:32 AM

I would take Rypien on my team any day. Good win for him.

Posted by cjkohler on December 11, 2009 at 10:34 AM

rypien has no fear I love this guy.

Posted by Couv19 on December 12, 2009 at 03:57 AM

Rypien got cut when his helmet came off, not from Valabik landing any massive bombs. I give Rypien a close decision here.

Posted by hammertown on January 28, 2010 at 08:37 PM

Ripper is the king of the universe.

Posted by MikeS29 on August 16, 2011 at 12:33 AM

I especially love how at the very end of the clip you see young Evander Kane challenge Kessler, and Kessler pusses out and goes to the bench.

Posted by WayAbvPar on December 11, 2009 at 01:44 PM

Rypien is a tough little bastard.

Posted by tiburon4 on December 13, 2009 at 09:54 PM

Rypien does it again: yeah!

Posted by Rex from MN on December 12, 2009 at 12:30 PM

giving the edge to Ripper since he was winning with the jersey overhead and Boris leaning down. Boris needs to learn to keep throwing earlier and not letting up, or he'll get surprised like this. Here's hoping Ripper goes for the ultimate test tonight: Boogie's in town!

Posted by PuckmaninMN on December 12, 2009 at 12:19 PM

Wow! Great showing by RR Hey Boris, next time you want to fight a guy, maybe choose someone your own size...moron. You got your a$$ beat good.

Posted by Heater15 on December 15, 2009 at 12:52 AM

i really appreciate this rypien bringing some real good fights to watch

Posted by mike hartman on December 14, 2009 at 11:16 AM

The rypper ourclassed that big fool. He is amazing. He's a boxer on skates.

Posted by RickRypienfan on November 14, 2010 at 06:13 PM

Rypien's one of the best fighers in the league

Posted by Richterfan on December 12, 2009 at 11:16 AM

Entertaining fight here. Valabik gets three solid right hands through Rypien's block. Rypien shows great toughness in taking those shots, eventually sweaters Valabik and punches him to his knees. Valabik lands the cleaner shots but Rypien lands more. The fact that the linesmen had to bail out Valabik as he was in a vulnerable situation causes me to give Rypien the win. Love the emotion by Rypien's teammates after the fight. They clearly see it as a Rypien win.

Posted by KDR398 on January 10, 2010 at 08:44 PM

This is why the Ripper is the best true fighter in the NHL in years. He is fearless. He often gives up inches in height and reach, and up to 60 lbs in weight and WINS. Ask Valabik, Stortini, Janssen, May and Gill if they respect RR. I bet the response would be 5-0 that they do.

Posted by millerdvr on December 11, 2009 at 01:41 AM

Valabik with the easy win, rypien took a beating and only landed some btch slaps, definite win BIG BORIS

Posted by perezj on December 11, 2009 at 08:56 AM

These anouncers are a joke, according to them Rypien never loses. It was the same thing when Eager kicked his ass. Here is the guy bleeding from the side of his head and he wins? When the other guy had the jersey over his head the punches he threw missed. This is the most over ratted fighter out there. Let him fight some real heavy weights, not Stortini that ids the NHL punching bag. What a joke.

Posted by claire alexande on December 15, 2009 at 05:37 PM

Valabik wins this one with some good shots at the start and cutting Rypien. Give Rypien some credit for not getting destroyed by a guy so much bigger than him, but Nux homers need to realize that even though Valabik is a crap fighter, he had this all the way until Rypien got the jersey over his head. If Rypien's loss to Doug Murray "didn't count" because Murray jerseyed him and then pounded him, how does that differ from this situation? Rypien is a very good fighter, no doubt, but face up to the fact he's lost a few against guys who can fight (e.g., Murray, Eager, Reich). I haven't seen so much manlove in one place since the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Posted by tomales2 on December 12, 2009 at 02:15 AM

Sorry flock members but your idol gets a draw

Posted by PitbullX on December 11, 2009 at 01:42 AM

Guess none of you saw the jersey come over Valabiks head? Other than that he was handling RR just fine...

Posted by tim daddy on December 11, 2009 at 12:19 PM

tough to judge, at first blush it looks like rypien, but after four looks he doesn't really land as many solid shots, still i want to see him go with tootoo, or maybe even asham

Posted by specker on December 12, 2009 at 02:19 AM

Not much from Rypien until the sweater came up-win Valabik

Posted by Moses Kenobi on December 11, 2009 at 06:52 AM

All I have to say is: To all those people who say Boris got "took" at the end, that's a BIG man! He doesn't have the best feet, & because of that, he lost his composure at the end. He STILL rocked Rypien with a flury of fist, though! [Sure, I'm not ruling out the fact I may be biased.]

Posted by marinermoose38 on December 11, 2009 at 12:24 PM

This is a major problem. Obviously, there's more Canucks fans than Thrashers fans so that's exactly why we have this one voted the way it is. This is a CLEAR WIN for Valabik!!! Not only did he LAND MORE, he also LANDED THE BEST PUNCHES, and DREW BLOOD!!!!! I'm not sure how much more convincing this win could have been. Rypien jerseys him at the end.... great... that did absolutely no damage and Rypien got badly beat!!
