About as clear of a draw as there is.

Posted by alyboy on November 23, 2009 at 10:06 AM

another crap nhl dance....when are we gonna see guys let go of the jerseys and shoulder pads and fight....Rypien tough for his weight class and when he gets going with both hands, he is unstoppable

Posted by Bad Dawg on November 23, 2009 at 04:37 PM

Not much of a fight!!!!

Posted by MonkeyQuatro on November 23, 2009 at 12:35 AM

Was that a fight?

Posted by amerks25 on January 02, 2010 at 11:30 PM

Looked like a new show "dancing with the stiffs"

Posted by bertilicious on November 23, 2009 at 02:25 AM

eager is in the nhl? what a joke.

Posted by langdon20 on November 23, 2009 at 01:27 AM

draw, rypien haters rejoice. Ben eager was scared of rippers left IMO, made for crap fight. If i gotta hear you douches say he's gonna mess with the wrong dude one more time................ ripper best under 200lbs fighter. period even probie lost, get over yourself

Posted by infestedcut on December 02, 2009 at 11:17 PM

It was barely a fight. DRAW!

Posted by rugby on November 23, 2009 at 12:40 AM

Draw, guess Rypien's fights can't all be good. Eager had a good grip and is probably a lot stronger, but definitely not the "wrong dude" for Rypien to take on.

Posted by Rypien-37 on November 23, 2009 at 05:07 PM

Going for the draw, Eager started good with quite afew punches with a few landing, then Rypien manages to also land a couple although not as many punches as Eager. Just as you could start to see that look in Rypien's eyes of now it's my turn they fall to the ice, would of been nice to see what Rypien could do against Eager, could of been Rypien's best fight of the year I think if it wasn't for the fall.

Posted by thebigbea55 on November 23, 2009 at 02:08 AM

draw.. if they go again, rypien will kill him easy..

Posted by pontusxman on November 23, 2009 at 09:25 AM

I think this is pretty much a tie, sure Eager threw early but Rypien threw late. Draw.

Posted by dorobo on January 17, 2010 at 08:17 AM

In case you guys haven't noticed, Rypien's been out on the ice for at least 1,5minutes before the fight. Only reason he didn't win on *that* one. Can't wait for these 2 to clash again... for real

Posted by mikebflorida on November 23, 2009 at 10:29 AM

Tempted to give this to Eager as he landed a few but he did no damage to Ryp. I'm not sure if that last punch chased Eager from this fight but it sure ended abruptly. I think Eager doesn't want Rypien to get loose. DRAW

Posted by jrobber on January 02, 2010 at 04:32 AM

Edge to Ryp, he had the good shot at the end, i didn't really see Eager land anything....Ryp seems to do better when they square off for a moment, rather than the instant bear hug

Posted by BattleAxe13 on November 23, 2009 at 10:50 AM

Good ol Ben Eager just loves to fight those smaller guys and 40 year olds (referring to Roberts 2 years ago.) Draw Eager early Rypien came back. Ryps a guy that everyone should love, a lot of heart in a small frame. Keep kickin @$$ buddy!

Posted by Dave Brown HOF on November 23, 2009 at 01:10 PM

Giving this one a draw, although it could be a win for the Ripper. Eager threw more with very little landing. Although it looked like Eager was already falling off balance, Rypien looked like he helped him get to the ice quicker by landing that last left hand to Eager's yap at the 24/25 second mark. Not too sure why Rypien decided to go there. He was at the very end of his shift and there was plenty of time left in the game to go when both guys were at full strength but I'm still glad that he did, so that it might keep all of the haters off of his back for a while. Good job by Eager too for sticking up for a teamate and doing his job.

Posted by staceyb on November 23, 2009 at 06:08 PM

Neither guy had the advantage though Eager had Rypien tied up for awhile.

I agree Ripper is the Champ in his weightclass would love to see him and Lucic have a bout they are my two fave fighters

Posted by Mclovin604 on January 11, 2010 at 12:23 PM

Close fight both landed equal amounts of punches...Rypien has more skillz and able to block a lot of Eagers punches

Posted by Jerjer on April 24, 2010 at 01:51 AM

Eager just lucky

DRAWWWWWWWWW

Posted by mvietori on December 11, 2009 at 04:10 PM

I dont know how anyone can see it was an easy win for Eager, or a win at all. It was clearly a draw. Eager didn't really land any big punches and Rypien nailed him with a good one as the last punch of the fight. Definitely a draw.

Posted by christopho on November 23, 2009 at 03:04 AM

anyone catch the shot on the chin at the end!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Biggums42O on January 02, 2010 at 03:49 PM

Who ever voted Eager as the winners must be Chicago fans, eh? I mean common Rypien only threw 3 punches and still had a higher hit percentage than Eager, plus he got the takedown on Eager which still counts as some points. Sure Eager threw 6 punches to Rypiens 3, but only 1 of Eagers lands, even if that is questionable if it lands, because punching the dudes helmet doesn't count. You guys watch it again and call me a liar. Also as for controlling the wrists, that went goes both ways, Eager was controlling Rypiens wrists out of fear of getting hit like a little girl, You could see Rypien trying to break out of it first. Rypien doesn't controller wrists out of fear, but for strategy. I would vote this a draw, however, I had to vote in favour for Ripper to make up for all the jokers who gave the fight to Eager, when he clearly didn't win.

Posted by Leafs2006 on November 23, 2009 at 05:12 PM

Eager didnt land jack shiit! Woof Woof! Edge Ripper

Posted by slavv on November 23, 2009 at 09:10 PM

Rypien with the win. Defended most of Eager's punches and landed the best punch, ending the fight...

Posted by tkehler on November 26, 2009 at 02:09 AM

Not much of a bout... It LOOKED like Rypien took Eager out with that last punch but only the two of them know how hard the impact actually was.

Posted by shadlove on December 14, 2009 at 05:28 PM

OMG!!! Am I the only one who actually watched this fight carefully?! Eager landed a few punches to the back of Ripper's helmet, popping it off, lands ONE LEFT on Ryp after his helmet is off, then Ripper KNOCKS EAGER DOWN with a big left! Eager missed with a right at the same time as Ryp's left knocks him down. How could you guys miss that?! Ripper is quickly establishing himself as the most feared fighter in the NHL regardless of weight category. SO COOL to see him routinely embarassing guys 30-100 lbs heavier than him!

Posted by Dogcrazy on November 24, 2009 at 02:24 AM

Eager went down as soon as Rypien's fist touched him at the end....... and Eager was so aware of Rypien's left.... Close fight, but edge to Rypien.

Posted by YouGotOwned on November 23, 2009 at 06:25 PM

If you notice Rick Rypiens Hand is taped.... In The NHL you cannot have your hand taped and scrap or you are in big doo doo...... therefore this fight is a draw Rick Knew he couldn't throw punches

Posted by Bobdar on January 03, 2010 at 12:21 AM

short but spirited

Posted by sampy on May 19, 2011 at 07:05 PM

Rare loss for Ryp

Posted by Rypien on November 23, 2009 at 09:47 AM

If you look.. you clearly see Rypien land one right on the draw, and then Eager falls down.. so that means Rypien one, too many retards on here.

Posted by outtathepark on November 24, 2009 at 12:27 AM

Give it to Ripper... There were only 3 punches which landed... 1 quick left at the start.... then right from rypien.... Eager landed an uppercut when going down, but all his other punches hit Rick's helmet which is irrelevant...

Posted by canucks_5 on November 29, 2009 at 11:11 PM

hey shuckthefarks, you do realize that rick rypien is 5'11 and 170 lbs. right? "stick to the shrimps" haha the ripper has probably never fought someone close to his size, they are all bigger then him. do your homework before you review a fight buddy. besides this was a pretty close one, and who ended up on top? rypien took him down, no matter how close the actual fight was

Posted by plubber on December 08, 2009 at 12:57 AM

Eager, who has ducked Rypien for ever, finally shows up, throws 4, whiffs on 3, Rypien throws 3, lands 2. Do the math, Rypien wins, slightly. I don't know which scrap some of you were watching. Eager spends most of his time in games against Vancouver racing to the bench when Rypien shows up. He clutched like Stortini, threw some short shots that clearly missed. Rypien floored him with a left straight on his chicken-shit beak and down he went. What more do you need to see? They met later in the game at a scrum near the net, and un-Eager clearly showed he wasn't interested. Maybe "Big" Ben should find smaller guys, I think Karya and Morrison are still out there.

Posted by 45skyfire on November 23, 2009 at 01:04 AM

Rick with the win.......

Posted by Denrik on December 28, 2009 at 03:47 AM

When somebody holds their own against a guy 80 pounds heaver I give it to the guy 80 pounds lighter 100% of the time

Posted by Vaporizer on January 01, 2010 at 02:19 AM

Clearly the little guy took on another tall game fighter and won, Rypien is superb.

Posted by icyfist101 on November 25, 2009 at 01:32 AM

why is evryone sayin eegerr eeeger blah blah blah .. yah maybe he got 5 punches but it only took one punch of rypien to put him on his bac... clearly thas called a KNCK OUT

Posted by vangodard28 on January 24, 2010 at 08:33 PM

Eager had more punches but Rypien had more impact punches plus the takedown. edge Rypien but not by much.

I'm a big Rypien fan (he looked like a kid fighting his dad here in terms of size) but this was Eager's by the slightest of margins.

Win eager

Posted by gmann14 on November 23, 2009 at 11:41 AM

Kind of a boring fight Eager is the stronger fighter and it showed, locked up Rypien pretty good . nobody wants to stand back and throw anymore.Leafs suck !!!

Posted by ButterBean24 on November 23, 2009 at 12:59 AM

I bet if that fight was longer Rypien would've unloaded on Eager.

Posted by shuckthefarks on November 29, 2009 at 02:35 PM

not even close. "Ripper" finally decides to take on someone with size and is way out of his league. Stick to the shrimps Rick. you had no chance here

Posted by sulley71 on November 23, 2009 at 12:44 AM

Slight edge to Eager. Rypien landed nothing, Eager a couple, pretty simple.

Posted by irishsuperhero on November 26, 2009 at 02:45 PM

Looks like somebody finally studied some tapes of Rypien before a game. And gave him a (slight) taste of his own medicine. Switching from lefts to rights, as fast as they could. (Stortini... are you listening?)

Posted by ShuterMcGav on November 23, 2009 at 09:47 AM

All Eager here. I was hoping Rypien was going to get opened up by one of those punches(or the ice)

Posted by bruins rule on November 23, 2009 at 07:36 AM

eager gets the slight edge in this fight.

Posted by 99andayear on November 28, 2009 at 07:12 AM

eager handled ripper well enough to get the w... not much more though. considering rypien's giant killer status id say its a good showing for eager- need to see more before i call him solid, though.

Posted by TheBostonBear21 on December 22, 2009 at 10:45 PM

Gotta say that definately wasnt rickys best bout

Posted by kronvallizer78 on January 18, 2010 at 01:59 PM

good fight eager with the edge in this one. rypien needs to wake up a little faster next time.

Posted by Rebel Banker on November 23, 2009 at 07:33 PM

Eager and really wasn't even close...ripper is a beast but eager controlled the entire fight.

Posted by HaWKeYToWNusa on November 23, 2009 at 02:07 PM

Eager is the Hawks guy since Walker left. I'm very proud to give him this win especially against Rypien, he's a BA.

Posted by GCBC00 on December 18, 2009 at 09:59 AM

As a Hawks fan and definitely not a Rypien fan, it sure was nice to see Benny win this one. Rypien is a great, tough, and willing middleweight, but Win, Eager.

Posted by teebo on November 23, 2009 at 01:34 AM

draw.

Posted by Oil Can Henry on November 24, 2009 at 12:12 AM

Draw - nothing here - a few meaningless punches and that's it. Rypien's up-and-coming,...and I know a lot of people wanna' see him lose,....but, he certainly, didn't lose this thing,....no need to vote against him, just for that reason. Eager's no test,...he's a nobody,...he threw a couple punches, then pulled his man down to end it, that's all.

Posted by rocky7482 on November 23, 2009 at 12:33 PM

I wish these 2 could have started off like a 'nasty mirasty' fight.....chuck the lids, slide the elbow pads down, skate to centre ice and begin 10 feet apart.....too much clutching and grabbing and rolling along the boards crap.

Posted by DuffyBank on November 23, 2009 at 10:28 AM

A whole lok of Rypien helmet for Eager and then an inside right by Rypien - Draw

Posted by tiburon4 on November 23, 2009 at 01:01 AM

Eager up to the challenge, but a draw.

Posted by Rex from MN on November 23, 2009 at 08:22 AM

Eager did well to get asolid draw against one of the best by starting aggressively. Stood up for his teamate too. Nothing wrong with that showing.

Posted by mike hartman on December 14, 2009 at 11:20 AM

Ryp van winkle lands more to the face, eager landed his to the back of Ryps helmut, I bet his hand hurts, as well as his pride.

Posted by Krahn on November 23, 2009 at 02:55 PM

Eager knew to tie up Ryp's arms, and there for handin Rypper his first loss of the season... but it was weak!

Posted by millerdvr on November 23, 2009 at 12:43 AM

Eager destroyed that lil F#cker!!! hahahaha the ripper just got his a$$ ripped up by Eager! hahaha Eager with the EASY WIN ha ha ha Nucks fans will say " he only lost three teeth..... it's a draw"

Posted by hammergnar on December 01, 2009 at 01:09 AM

Actually...watching and listening you can hear Rypien's final punch hit Eager's chin...a good little crack loud and clear.

Posted by muskokadangler on November 23, 2009 at 10:30 AM

The ripper's first loss this year!!!!! He is one of my favorites but please everyone, BE HONEST There is no shame in the loss!!!!! The guy who goes by the handle Rypien should not use it because I bet even The Ripper would give the other guy the win in an UNEVENTFUL fight!!!!!And when you say retart are you speaking about yourself or your MA MA????

Posted by chuckg on November 23, 2009 at 09:25 AM

I am a huge Rypien fan and I would love to say at the very most it was a draw... but I have to give the fight to Eager. Not because Rypien didn't land hits (he did) or because Eager did, but because Eager controlled the fight. Specifically, he locked down Rypien's left.

Posted by perezj on November 23, 2009 at 08:01 AM

Eager smoked him.. The way everyone talks about Rypien one would think he is the best fighter in the NHL. Nice job by Eager.

Posted by chad420 on November 24, 2009 at 09:35 PM

edge eager in a quick one..... giving ripper his first loss of the year

Posted by bigdog2007 on November 23, 2009 at 12:30 PM

Eager did more. Rick "litt;e Ball of hate" Rypien doesn't lose many...

Posted by kitcarnut on November 23, 2009 at 02:30 PM

Say what you want girls, but Eager wins this clear as day. Ripper bite off more than he can chew. His rapid little girly shots won't be surprising anyone anymore. Ben was way too strong for him.

Posted by LordKOTL on November 24, 2009 at 01:18 AM

Okay, the videos of this don't tell too much--I was at this game and thus saw the fight from start to completion, and my bro got a nice video of the full thing (and not when the network cameras decided to pan to it). Rypien got one weak jab, they tied up, the Eager lays a bunch of punches some weak and some moderate, Rypien tried one or two weak punches, then Eager went for the haymaker, missed and caught Rypien with a forearm, and then both went spinning to the ice. Eager threw, and landed more punches despite missing with the haymaker. Rypien got 1 or 2 punches, but nothing even moderate. Neither party tore the other one up, but the win is decisively Eager's in both Quality and Quantity of punches.

Posted by marinermoose38 on November 23, 2009 at 12:45 AM

Eager was the ONLY one to land... albeit, they weren't haymakers, but I'm giving the EDGE to Eager.

Posted by tim daddy on November 23, 2009 at 01:06 PM

Posted by claire alexande on November 25, 2009 at 12:21 PM

easy win for eager, who adds the game rypien to his list of capuke b*tches. rick bit off more than he could chew, realized it early, and hung on for dear life.
