Eager is a bitch and landed an elbow, Clifford landed late DRAW

Posted by filthynumber1 on April 16, 2011 at 10:48 AM

Eager is easily in my top 3 most hated players in the nhl so therefore i have no problem with the late shots by Kyle. dont kid yourself eager would do the same thing given the chance

Posted by efp on April 15, 2011 at 03:22 AM

That Eager has a gut on him and this really wasn't that great. Although Clifford was throwing after Eager fell whaich was cheap but any Shark deserves it. Then the Kings take them to OT. Looks like the Sharks will fail yet again in the play-offs. THey should've of got rid of No Show Joe and the dissapearing Marleau a few seasons ago.

Posted by 714KINGS on April 16, 2011 at 06:23 PM

Eager is a punk like most of the tunas. Nice elbow punk, but did he actually land a punch? Cliffy is young, but he did just fine. Some of you questioning him are a joke.

Posted by Behn Wilson on April 15, 2011 at 09:33 AM

Eager's opening elbow, Karmically canceled out Clifford's unfortunate, back-turned, ground punching... resulting in an ""Eager early, Clifford late'' draw. First Reaves, then Brookbank, and now..Eager........ guy's still young, but... just sayin'.

Posted by skater1 on April 15, 2011 at 06:34 AM

LA Kid shows up for all of em, stitches and all. Draw.

Posted by HerbRaglan on April 15, 2011 at 01:14 AM

I give credit to Clifford for continuing to throw punches. I like true anger in fights and dislike all this staged crapola fights we are subjected to. Those fights from the 70's and 80's are classics in part because of the anger and willingness to continue firing until the refs struggled to separate the combatants.

Posted by slavv on April 17, 2011 at 06:53 PM

Eager definitely landed the best punches, but once he lost his balance he was in trouble. Clifford held up, respectably...

Posted by Spoonster on April 16, 2011 at 10:05 PM

As a Kings fan, I must say I am getting quite tired of seeing Clifford get tagged on the left side of his face in every fight. I do think the Chuck Norris elbow, accidental or not, probably dazed Clifford and that is what opened him up to that flurry. But it is what it is, and Clifford takes more than a little damage...again. He is going to start resembling Rocky Dennis at this rate. That also resembled a classic Eager bail out. He is pretty good at selling the "slip" by this point I am sure, seeing as how many of his fights of his end with him "slipping" when he loses the advantage, often taking the other guy down dangerously with him.

Posted by DARCY T on April 15, 2011 at 09:49 AM

eager shows some lightning speed rights...gave it 6

Posted by LA KING FANATIC on April 15, 2011 at 06:15 PM

What were you watching, Clifford took one solid shot and a glancing blow, then Eager elbows Clifford..Clifford should have pulled him up and finished the fight but Eager was no longer Eager, a draw guys... Clowe is a world class pussy, all mouth no back up..he was not willing to Face Westy or even Green, all yap This is going to be an lod fashion barn burner of series..These Kings are not going to just lay down

Posted by Juha82 on April 15, 2011 at 04:19 AM

both did a very good job here, EAger early,Cliff late. DRAW.

Posted by Ministry on April 15, 2011 at 02:34 PM

Tale of two halfs. Eager round 1, Clifford round 2. = Draw.

W Eager

Posted by Riomouse911 on April 15, 2011 at 04:09 PM

Gave it a 5 because of the spirit showed. Eager with a cheepy, Clifford with 3 cheap shots of his own. They know their roles, played them, and the game went on. BE takes this one over KC, who's fighting style has been figured out now by the league regulars and he's taking more than he's giving lately..

Posted by LicoriceBiscuit on April 16, 2011 at 11:47 PM

Nice elbow by Eager what a d*ck. Eager completely punks out when someone his own size comes calling. Total pussy, spot picking twat. @phillyBrashear - You talk to couple people like you're the source. Let see Eager threw 12 punches with 3 landing, that's 25% genius. Maybe your mom should have slapped the shi*t outta you until you finished your math homework. Because Eager threw punches in bunches a beating it doesn't make. Did he win the fight? Yes. If your looking for the idiot here find a mirror dipshit, and take your comedy act to the next open mic night at your local watering hole.

Eager sporting the Uncle Fester hairdo wins early.

Posted by AZfromNJ on April 15, 2011 at 12:14 AM

How's the defense coming along Clifford? He blocked a couple nice ones with his chin.

Posted by GreatMurray on April 15, 2011 at 07:16 AM

Eager stomps the pucky out of Clifford.

Posted by totmacher on April 15, 2011 at 01:29 PM

Clifford needs to back it down a bit if he plans to play Hockey for any extended amount of time. That dude has become the NHL punching bag... Seriously though, if the dude falls, I give + points to the guy that trys to pick the falling guy back up to keep the fight going... But the guy that starts throwing pathetic cheep shots to the back of the falling guys noggin get - points... Show some class.

Posted by gongermuskegon on April 15, 2011 at 01:22 AM

Sharks bench tell the tail of the tape, the eager one eeks one out over the always hungry big red dog, he's got a heart of lion, but couldn't get the edge in this bout. Eager and a 5

Posted by latemplar on June 22, 2011 at 07:19 AM

i'm a kings fan, but am embarrassed with clifford's sucker punches. take your beating and sit down...

Nice little MMA elbow by Eager. Clifford came back and the zebras had to protect Ben. Hardly 90% landed as some might say. Eager and a 6

Posted by Lafouine12 on April 16, 2011 at 10:24 PM

eager win this

Posted by fernben8 on April 21, 2011 at 04:11 PM

Eager got the better shots in for the edge... Cliffy is a slumpin lately. I feel he's got to step back from a few and re-group, if he continues this way, he'll loose confidence and the big boys will pick up on it.

Posted by billrx561 on April 15, 2011 at 01:43 PM

Till Eager slipped, Clifford took a beating

Posted by mudman55 on April 15, 2011 at 10:58 AM

W to Ben Eager.

Posted by wineshark on April 15, 2011 at 05:18 PM

Eager was throwing em fast and connected. We couldn't see the initial part of the fight and Clifford got in shots in the back of the head while Eager was going down ( ... boarderline on "the code"). Win but not domination for Eager.

Posted by EDDUBBS on April 14, 2011 at 11:40 PM

Ben Eager beat the Fuk out of Clifford. No Contest! And Clifford gets a pair of balls laid on his chin for fighting like a fagot at the end. Busted that bitch's eye wide open.

Posted by Medicdude on April 15, 2011 at 10:40 AM

Don`t know how anyone can call that a draw or Clifford win, unless you`re counting the number of time Cliffords head hit Eager`s fist.

Posted by Chopsling on April 15, 2011 at 08:17 PM

Wish you could have stayed in Philly, Ben! Have you seen Carcillo? Ha Ha Ha!

Posted by eadamson on April 15, 2011 at 06:42 PM

Flailing, but Eager did more damage until he swung himself off balance. He gets the decision.

Posted by scorp1on on April 15, 2011 at 06:00 AM

Now that was unexpected. Eager handily until he slips.

Posted by nigelneil on April 15, 2011 at 12:39 PM

How can you even give Clifford any credit for this... Only punches he lands are on the back of Eager's helmet after he slipped and was on his knees. To bad Stoll would never drop the gloves to atone for his hit on White.

Posted by fourpoints on April 15, 2011 at 04:08 PM

Poor young Clifford is ONE heavyweight bout away from being "Fedoryucked". May be time to look for another profession before we all have to see that.

Posted by bruins rule on April 15, 2011 at 08:04 AM

eager gets the win in this fight.

Posted by jimpsf on April 16, 2011 at 02:55 PM

Eager dominated Clifford, the only time Clifford got some hits in is when Eager slipped down (cheap shots). Clifford got his butt whupped and Ryan Clowe kept callin out Kings players to fight, none stood up. Winner: Eager without a doubt...

Posted by Willy WILL on April 17, 2011 at 08:20 AM

Ben wins this fight no contest.

Posted by sedinfan on April 15, 2011 at 12:10 AM

Getting beat up that bad by Ben Eager is similar to getting beat up bad by my grandma. Clifford has really been a punching bag late in the year.

Posted by haleymonster138 on April 15, 2011 at 02:32 AM

Eager owned Clifford in this tilt.

Posted by jim_mckenzie33 on April 15, 2011 at 01:34 AM

Eags with the Duke.....good tilt....credit Claven though. He keeps coming back for more no matter how bad the raccoon eyes are, no matter how many shots he takes. But elbow- smelbow......the vet schooled the rookie here.

Posted by johnnyrock555 on April 15, 2011 at 06:09 PM

Not at fan of hitting your opponent on the ground, but this is the playoffs and cheap punches are better than losing the psychological game. Good playoff fight.

Posted by countejacula on April 15, 2011 at 11:24 AM

The only thing Clifford did right was take cheap shots at a guy after he was down. Eager won this fight by actually being a man and punching Clifford while he was on his skates. Eager's shots were actually landing in the get-go and Clifford's were mainly bucket dusters while Eager was down. Good fight for the game and the fans in a heated playoff battle.

Posted by uGaTbAyAg420 on April 15, 2011 at 12:35 PM

Eager win, Clifford try to bounced back for some cheap punches at the end of the bout......

Posted by Rob B on April 18, 2011 at 05:08 PM

Eager lands some nice right crosses, not much from Clifford.

Posted by dmichetti on April 16, 2011 at 12:51 PM

- Eager is one tough customer - Lot of respect to Clifford, first year fighter, just doing what he has to do to stay on the team - He seems to have slowed down big time towards the end of the season

The breakfast of Champions!

Posted by phillyBrashear on April 15, 2011 at 07:20 AM

I usually just watch the fights and rarely comment but some of you are absolutely ridiculous. brymaster1 - Clifford is as willing to go as anyone. Eager rarely fights anymore in his "old age" so he takes on the new, up-and-coming fighter trying to make a name. Nothing wrong with that. Clifford is hardly under his weight class. Accept the beating and move on. dextertheninja - you are an IDIOT. Eager absolutely destroyed Clifford. The refs had to pull Clifford off of Eager because Eager slipped and Clifford tried to make up for the beating he just received by throwing a few late, cheap punches while Eager was down. 1 or 2 on someone who slipped is OK because they're still in the heat of battle, but Clifford kept going. I would go as far as saying that 90% landed, not missed. Watch again. If you have the same opinion then watch again. Don't stop watching until either A) you realize that you are 100% wrong or B) your mom shows up and slaps the sh-t out of you.

Posted by tyrone on April 15, 2011 at 05:23 PM

What an a$$ kicking. Clifford is overrated. He backs down from tough guys like Staubitz only to get pummeled by Brookbank, Reeves and now a washed up Eager. Clifford, you're face is gonna look like a train track before long you wuss. Easy win by Eager Beaver.

Posted by b.t.wilson on April 14, 2011 at 11:34 PM

I still love Clifford, but Eager takes this. Eager was throwing with tenacity because he knew if he let up Clifford could knock his melon off his neck. Good fight by the Shark, lets hope the Beast fits one in tonight as well. I'm with the H Train on this one, an entertaining 8.

Posted by shantheman200 on April 15, 2011 at 01:35 PM

Good energy playoff fight. Eager got the best of it. Clifford with some shots late but not enough to make up for the beating he took. Fight goes to Eager.

Posted by mctuttle on April 15, 2011 at 10:00 AM

Clifford is a pussy for hitting Eager while down, on the back of the head, after having been stomped.

Posted by Stevie-Mac on April 15, 2011 at 12:19 PM

good tilt. Clifford got a few shots in at the end but Eager dominated until then. Nice to see them getting into it.

Posted by rforjr on April 15, 2011 at 09:17 AM

First of all I think Eager is a clown and I kind of liked Clifford early in the year, but Eager won this hands down. Clifford's only good shots were donkey punches once Eager slipped. Pretty classless on Clifford's part although he did get an elbow and at the :16 mark Eager missed on a punch and actually connected on a karate style backhand. Love the angry fights versus staged. Stoll's hit on White that started this was absolutely awful. Forearm to the back of the head 6 inches from the glass/dasher.

Posted by sirjohn3 on April 17, 2011 at 02:54 PM

Eager owened Clifford.

Posted by Mayhem2011 on April 14, 2011 at 11:42 PM

TKO - Clifford got his eyes bloodied and fought like a real punk at the end. He is lucky that Eager lost his balance or that LA Princess would have had his face smashed in big time. Clifford is a clit and got a beating to boot,

Posted by Moose Jaw on April 15, 2011 at 01:43 AM

Clifford does what he seems to do best lately...clinch, wince, and bleed. Hopefully the bell tolls next for Stoll for his cheap shot on Ian White that precipitated Eager pantsing Clifford.

Any fight in the Stanley cup playoffs gets at least an 8 from me!

Posted by BigDaveBrown21 on April 14, 2011 at 11:45 PM

Kyle the Kunt got his eye busted WIDE open. Eager laying down the law and CLiffy taking it like the punk that he is. Never hit a guy when he is down with his back to you. I hope he cracked his hand on Eager's helmet. The Real Dear Ben Eager busted him up.

Posted by ericjohndeleon on April 20, 2011 at 01:42 AM

props to eager and poop to clifford

Posted by Matt13 on April 15, 2011 at 01:54 PM

Everyone seems to forget that Clifford is a rookie, 19 or 20 years old, fighting guys how have been fighing in the NHL since before he was a teenager. He has lost a few, he has won a few, but 90% of them have all been exciting. There is no shame in Kyle losing to Eager. Why didnt Eager go after Westgarth? Why didnt Westgarth go after anyone.....that is my frustration. Talk crap about the one late shot to Eager, but watch the tape again, the linesman didnt have to stop him from punching Eager, Clifford stopped on his own. In the heat of the moment, one late punch may fly, as one elbow may get accidently thrown. its a fight and in the middle of it, the "code" that all of you subscribe to is kind of out the window.

Posted by ThrowdownSJ408 on April 15, 2011 at 04:37 AM

Posted by mpw on April 15, 2011 at 04:02 PM

eager won the fight, but lost my respect for not fighting westgarth when he was challenged, picking your spots helps your personal stats not the team.

Posted by dextertheninja on April 15, 2011 at 02:23 AM

Clifford won this hands down. 90 % of Eager's early hits missed, although he did connect a few good ones. Then he got tired and Clifford destroyed him( Starting at 0:17 ) If anyone thinks that Clifford lost, then why the hell did the refs have to save Eager'sass when he got demolished? Clifford avoided an early onslaught and crushed Eager in a good fight from both sides.

Posted by brymaster1 on April 14, 2011 at 11:46 PM

Eager is a pussy who only fight under his weight class, he intentionally throws a cheap elbow and Clifford comes back with the punches on the ground.

Posted by chad420 on April 17, 2011 at 06:33 PM

Eager Beaver lights up Little Cliffy

Posted by Oil Can Henry on April 14, 2011 at 11:52 PM

Clifford weathers-the-storm, including the always ladylike back-handed elbows ( why not just hit 'im with your purse, Ben ) to come-away with at-least a draw.

Posted by Dijo on April 15, 2011 at 11:26 AM

I'm not a fan of either team or player. I read the comments before I saw the fight. After seeing the fight, I realized that so many comments on here were filled with so much exaggeration. First, Eager won the fight but he didn't destroy Clifford in any way. If Eager hadn't lost his balance the outcome could have been different or at least closer. Second, I have no problem with the 3 late punches by Clifford. What did you expect him to do? Have you guys ever been in a hockey fight or any kind of fight where you really hated the guy? Clifford eats at least 4 good punches and then Eager throws a wild one and hits the ice. I'd be pretty pissed that the fight was over and I didn't get to respond. That's why Clifford hit him with 3 late punches. I think guys should lose points for losing their balance. Balance is an integral part of being a hockey fighter.

Posted by thebigbea55 on April 15, 2011 at 01:13 AM

surprise clifford didn't get suspended by the nhl for that hit against the canucks tanev.. looks worst than the stoll hit on white tonite.. they gave 4 games for torres... Abdelkader got nothing for a more nastier hits.. heatley and thornton got 2 and 0 games for their nastier hit.. what a joke

Posted by travist on April 18, 2011 at 10:31 PM

damn clifford can take a shot. not sure what is up but he has not been nearly as good as earlier in the season. that being said, screw the sharks, let's go kings!

Posted by Clowes ABeast29 on April 15, 2011 at 03:19 AM

Finally... FINALLY!!! Eagar dishes it out to Clifford for the roughing he gave pavelski a few shifts before this happened!

Posted by Langway on April 15, 2011 at 08:57 AM

Eager lit him up. Clifford only got shots in after Eager slipped (albeit conveniently) and those were cowardly cheap shots out of anger since he knows he had just been tagged.

Posted by samtheman on April 16, 2011 at 09:11 AM

Earlier in the season I thought Clifford could be one of the top fighters in the league. Boy how that has changed. I'm a Ben Eager fan but he is not an accomplished fighter by any means, but still hands it to Clifford in this bout. Very good fight for a playoff game.

Posted by CloweStaubi on April 14, 2011 at 11:28 PM

Eager with the two that look like connected. Not sure but I heard it bloodied Clifford.

Posted by Layheezie on April 16, 2011 at 08:18 AM

Eager was swinging wildly like a hormonal girl who was just insulted by the head cheerleader. He whiffed on most of his punches and managed to knock himself down. Cliffy wins because he maintained composure and nailed Eager a few times to teach him a lesson about fighting like a man.
