It had a good start but led to a boring wrestling match finish. Despite Cody's cut, giving it a Draw...

Despite the blood-letting in this low-key draw... the years of consistently losing, seem to, finally, be paying off for the unlikely duo of McLeod, and Thorburn. Maybe 'Kantstopoulos' has a plan after all.

bitz is a bad fighter for his size but he did quite ok in this fight..draw and 4

Posted by sulley71 on February 04, 2012 at 05:27 PM

Pretty good scrap, I'm giving it a draw!

Bitz, please.

Coulda gone either way...CmL tried to get the jump, ate a good one on the bean. BB ate one there, too. Draw.

So glad to see most people call this a draw. Good shot by Bitz cutting Cody, but he was in it the hole way.

Posted by mudman55 on February 06, 2012 at 07:43 AM

I gotta say draw. Bitzie got McL on the eyebrow, which is pretty easy to open up. But McL hung in there....

Posted by FightHaiku on February 06, 2012 at 01:12 AM

just because you bleed doesn't mean the fight is lost bitz wins? no a draw

Posted by bruins34 on February 05, 2012 at 11:10 AM

Great fight, and, despite the blood-fest, I called it a draw. Bitz definitely landed a great shot at the outset, but McLeod hung in and re-established momentum. The bigger story was with Bitz. WTF, has he reinvented himself as a fighter? I remember him challenging Brashear as a rookie with the B's, and Brashear, to his credit, kind of held him at bay with a "don't get stupid bc I can kill you anytime I want" face on. Good scrap

Posted by bboyer on February 04, 2012 at 07:33 PM

Blood does'nt give you the win. Both landed a couple. DRAW

Posted by GreatMurray on February 05, 2012 at 09:40 AM

McLeod steps up with a large human and holds his own...blood doesn't equal a win. They some punches...Draw.

slight edge Mcleod

Posted by Rypien on February 04, 2012 at 04:08 PM

This was a pretty .... weird fight? One punch landed got Mcloud to bleed, but otherwise not bucnh landed and lots of awkward crappling Win Bitz, slightly though, without blood its a full draw.

Posted by craigcoxe on February 05, 2012 at 01:20 AM

Slight edge to Bitz. Each landed.

Posted by Westcoast_Goon on February 04, 2012 at 04:21 PM

Gotta give that one to Bitz. Good to see Byron back at it. Hope he does well and sticks in Vancouver.

Posted by FaxCap on February 04, 2012 at 08:49 PM

I give the edge to Bitz McLeod had a small cut and Bitz got take down.

Good job by Bitz and he takes the win. I was looking forward to seeing what he could do as the Nucks need some more size on their forward lines. Now, if we could just trade Raymond for a power forward, things will be even better. I'm a little worried about how the Nucks are playing though and playing against teams in this weak ass division isn't going to help them prepare for the actual good teams in the West come playoff time. Between, Edmonton, Minny, Colorado and Calfairy, each of these teams would have a hard time beating their respective AHL affiliates. I can actually smell the stench from here from the pathetic Flamers prospects in Abbotsford.....and I'm 40km's away. StalkClaire, better prosepcts than the Canucks? LOL. Cody Hodgson would be the Flamers first line centre if he played in Calfairy and he's only a 3rd line centre in Vancouver. The Nucks can get more for Schneider in a trade than Calfairy could get for any of their players or prospects outside of maybe old man Iginla. Those are only two prospects. Need I say more. The Canucks also have a 21 year old d-man who made the AHL all star team this year. Outside of the Swiss Miss that the Flamers drafted last year, those bunch of hacks are full of projected 3rd and 4th line forwards. Yup, great prospects for a very promising future. StalkClaire, you have just proven once again your actual intelligence level, or rather the total lack there of, in both terms of hockey and also in general. It's almost not fair to get into an argument with someone as yourself who doesn't have the necessary mental capacity to adequately respond. Prosepcts - and extensive view or outlook, the act of looking forward, a mental vision of something to come, something that is awaited or expected, a potential buyer or customer, a likely canidate. Now, I could go on but to anyone with 2 or more brain cells, which unfortunately leaves you out of the picture, this would include both Schneider and Hodgson. They also have Tanev and a guy whom you seem to have miraculously forgotten about, you know the 21 year old d-man who made the AHL allstar team this year. Yes, his name is Kevin Connaughton. Not many 21 year old players and especially d-men make the AHL allstar team at that age. I could go on, but I know that this is all way out of your league as far as being able to understand, especially since Calfairy doesn't have any 21 year olds who can even get a ticket to an AHL allstar game.

Ironic how it takes an ex Bruin to toughen up the Nucks Hopefully this means we'll never have to see Dale Weasel in the NHL again

Posted by Bakes923 on February 17, 2012 at 12:14 AM

Bitz wins, cause his punch counted!Plus he landed on top.McCloud mostly hit Bitz's helmut!!

Posted by riffraff on February 05, 2012 at 12:41 PM

@muskoka: you're really an old senile John Madden aren't you? Consistent drawn out descriptions of the blatantly obvious. on behalf of the site, thanks for the profound for the insight. oh yeah, win Bitz by a band-aid.

Posted by djh700 on February 04, 2012 at 06:39 PM

Bitz landed the best punch and ended up on top. I'll give him the slight edge

Posted by sedinfan on February 04, 2012 at 06:57 PM

what a treat to see my Canucks acutally bloody someone with one decent punch, I think I am going to have a glass of champagne. Mcleod doing his David Koci imitation, looks good on him.

Posted by vangodard28 on February 07, 2012 at 01:30 AM

Good to see Bitz back in the NHL after missing all of last season and the first half of this one with a groin injury. You could tell that one of his punches deffinatly landed by looking at McLeod after the fight, despite McLeod trying to get the jump on him at the start.

Posted by lbx28 on February 04, 2012 at 09:07 PM

the more I look at this, the more it looks like the bruins are trying to infiltrate the canucks as part of a league / bruins conspiracy to further taint and otherwise defile the stanley cup, those bastards! once again ,where is custombreaks when we need him? he seems to be on top of this tainted love cup disfigurement thing.

Posted by odjick54fightin on February 04, 2012 at 04:16 PM

win for Bitz

Posted by DarthQuider on March 08, 2012 at 11:14 PM

Win to Bitz for the damage inflicted, but give credit to McLeod for hanging in there and doing some damage after he was opened up like a porn stars vagina.

Posted by ssully1618 on February 04, 2012 at 05:32 PM

Mcleod looked like a bandit after that

Posted by Bloodbank on February 05, 2012 at 06:32 AM

The winner in this fight: It's, it's Byron Bitz

Posted by Oil Can Henry on February 04, 2012 at 10:46 PM

...Bitz STILL blows!,.....current crop of NHL fighters are REALLY awful,....take a look at the top 10 in fighting-majors - not a decent enforcer or policeman in the ENTIRE bunch - NOT ONE!.........nothin' but amateur hacks,.....

Posted by claire alexande on February 23, 2012 at 02:50 PM

Draw at best for Bitz, and the actual hockey player more than held his own. Memo to Mike Gillis: Bringing in supposedly tough retreads from other teams doesn't bring toughness to your team when it's populated by bundles of finely split wood like the Sisters, Bitey McHairpull, Lapussiere, Reanne Kesler, and Bitchka. The day those guys grow a set is the day the Capukes may escape bitchdom. ------- And yet the Flames have better prospects than the East Hastings Capukes. Go figure. ____ Deflect and deny all you like, dbhof---your ignorance and homerism comes to the fore more and more. Prospects are not trade bait like Hodgson and Schneider who have established themselves as NHLers. Prospects are kids on the farm who may come up in the future in a meaningful way and outside of Tanev, the Capukes have none.

Posted by muskokadangler on February 04, 2012 at 05:18 PM

I don't give wins on Blood ....He split em...Thats it ....they both landed a couple I will call draw and probably get called on it ....But I dont care :) The punch didnt even stun him and hell you can get your jaw busted and knock cold and not bleed while the guy who busted your jaw could be standing above ya Leaking all over ya

Posted by kkdowning on February 04, 2012 at 10:47 PM

Draw, stuck pig bleeding notwithstanding

Posted by Snoka on February 05, 2012 at 10:13 AM

Can't remember the last time I gave the nod to a Canuck but Bitz gets it this time.
