Holy crap! Phanny must have a vagina. Ditch the lid like your opponent ya twat.

Posted by riffraff on March 19, 2011 at 10:57 PM

Ok. Phaneuf: Need we say more. Horton: why bother? try putting a puck in the net. Announcers: "Phaneuf..playing his best hockey of the year." too bad it took 72 games. Leafs suck Bruins got beat by the Sucks. 1st round exit for the Bullies. HNIC not even worth watching this weekend.

Posted by tristan16 on March 21, 2011 at 08:42 AM

Phaneuf and Subban are PU$$ies. If they don the lids in fights I'll show em' some respect but really, thoses two are PU$$IES for not dropping the helmet and fight like men, not mice.

Classless act by a fairy with a shield.. Draw

Posted by done on March 20, 2011 at 02:05 PM

Horton should leave the fighting to Zadingdong Chara and the idiot Thornton. Just wish Phaneuf would have worked him over a little more. Slight edge to Phaneuf !!

Posted by WAKEUPTHEDEAD on March 20, 2011 at 01:26 AM

fight sucked. but in the end,, when your team is losing, FIGHT SOMEONE. this is hockey folks, not tennis. lose with class?, again I say, this is hockey. DIE HARD. as for the actually fight, I'm sad colton orr is out. He would have had a field day out there answering the bell to all these bruins.

Posted by jcookc6 on March 20, 2011 at 12:30 PM

Phaneuf was totally gutless in not taking off his shield. Because of that even though he landed 2 more punches, I DQ'd him for not taking off his helmet after Horton took his off.

Posted by bruin1160 on March 20, 2011 at 08:37 AM

Horton had just had it...blow out game...last time they fought, Phaneuf is on bottom, Horton had stopped throwing and Diane throws a cheap shot from bottom. Phaneuf landed ZERO people...Horton hits can't give a guy a win for that performance....and the lack of lid toss? if he skated engage and not do it...there is no excuse, period!

Posted by filthynumber1 on March 20, 2011 at 04:24 AM

this is the first time EVER ive seen the guy without the visor take his helmet off first and only. just sayin...phawaffale. and the color man here said wayyy too much. he really needs to just stfu

Posted by bruins rule on March 20, 2011 at 01:02 AM

horton takes the helmet off and dion decides to keep his on. dion must have been scared horton would give him a concussion like he did to theo peckham.

Posted by sedinfan on March 19, 2011 at 11:17 PM

Weak 3 draw and Horton hits his head on the ice. Phanuef has always been a chicken shi*. I can't stand seeing guys play the tough role and take on someone with a visor.

Posted by Riomouse911 on March 21, 2011 at 12:30 PM

Fagneuf showing his true rainbow colors in that one. Next time wear a motorcycle helmet there, dion.

Posted by ETR on March 19, 2011 at 11:12 PM

Phaneuf got the better of him but I can't give him the W for not losing the visor/helmet. He had ample time to do that instead of hiding behind the ref and using him as a another shield to get the first punch in on Horton. The guy's always been a sneaky little sh*t.

Posted by scorp1on on March 21, 2011 at 05:48 AM

Horton should have just given him the dismissal wave, called him a pansy, and skated to the box with his dignity and two minute minor.

Phaneufs a Pussy

Posted by bruiser11 on March 19, 2011 at 10:19 PM

Phaneuf is a pu$$y for not taking off his shield. He was afraid to.

Posted by hal29 on March 20, 2011 at 09:57 AM

I was listening to this on Molson-Canadian radio and when this fight takes place. Holy homers come out, they were saying oh and Phanuef lands two rights and opens Horton wide open. The big man is going to the dressing room after learning how tough Phanuef really is. Really??? Ok both guys were barking at each other, Phaneuf give Horton a couple slashes and Horton gives a whack back. Unless Horton can see behind his head?? Phaneuf was still barking as Horton was skating up ice, hence the reason he turned around, oh and then Phaneuf was the one who push the linesmen out of the way, not Horton. Lame fight, Phaneuf wants to hold Horton in close and throw body punches. Horton tries to go with the big punches but how can you when the other guy just hugs. If Phaneuf would actually fight Horton would kill him but instead he settled with a draw!!!!! Phaneuf is chicken shit all the way and he just keeps on proving it!

Posted by mudman55 on March 20, 2011 at 07:31 AM

Horton should have let it go when Phaneuf initially declined. But once Pahneuf accepted, he should have de-bucketed. I have a feeling this one isn't over.

Posted by bruins34 on March 20, 2011 at 11:12 PM

Wow, a lot of really dumb Leafs fans out there. I dont mind giving the edge to Visorman on this one, but Horton useless?!?!? He's scored between 20-30 goals every year he's played. Almost sounds like Wendall. Oh wait, that's right, the Leafs have had such high scoring machines like...... in recent years. As for "OMG if Orr had only been in the game" mongos, ...he would have fought Thornton and had a 50/50 shot at winning. That's all. The Big Colt is a power puncher, but Probie, he ain't. Get a hold of yourselves, and while you're at it, get your captain a copy of "The Code". He might learn something.

Posted by vangodard28 on March 20, 2011 at 02:25 AM

You'll see in the earlier fight this season between these two that when Phaneuf takes off his helmet and fights like a man things don't go so well.

Posted by MASJOSH on March 22, 2011 at 06:10 PM

Paneuf left his visor on like a bitch. Hortons eye opened up on the ice, not from a punch. Watch the NESN view to see for yourself. Draw, but Phaneuf is a huge pussy, probably because Horton beat his ass once before.

Posted by roaddogg02316 on March 19, 2011 at 11:53 PM

Draw. Phaneuf may have gotten the better of Horton, but I will not give him the win for his lack of respect for the code. Horton does not even wear a visor yet he took his helmet off. Phaneuf should have followed suit but did not.

Posted by BruinsExaminer on March 20, 2011 at 08:46 AM

These two have a history. Last time they fought (earlier this year) we saw who the tougher opponent was (Horton) when they both took their helmets off right after the face-off. Phaneuf suckered Horton (last fight) when he was on the ice after getting the knock-down.

Posted by ThrowdownSJ408 on March 20, 2011 at 02:08 AM

Posted by ThogSmash on March 20, 2011 at 11:08 AM

Ehh can't really get Phaneuf too much on this one. Horton wanted to dance, and did the pestering. DP not taking off his lid in this case is forgivable. He also gets the W.

Posted by RogerNYLA on March 20, 2011 at 12:23 AM

Being a hockey fan from the lower 48. I always looked up to the toughness of the Canadian people and their sense of honor. After reading some of the responses from our friends from Toronto, it seems I may have misjudged their character. Phanueff left his helmet on and the Toronto fans admire him? As time goes by, I realize it's the Canadian people of the western providences that have any real pride and honor. Toronto has become a city of whiney, spineless wussies, and they should be ashamed of themselves and embarrased for the way they now understand the game of hockey is meant to be played.

Posted by Helmut on March 20, 2011 at 08:35 PM

I used to have some respect for Phaneuf, but now he is officially Phageuf. Dion, you are a c*cksuckin' punk for not dropping the lid.

Posted by JMiller29 on March 21, 2011 at 04:56 PM

This was a "2 to tango." Just before the fight Horton hit sweetiepie in the corner, lost his balance and spun around into sweetiepie putting his face into his chest...they squared off but the play kept going in the zone...once it left the zone Horton figured it was on. And for those who say sweetiepie didn't have to ditch the lid because Horton pursued him...."Who shoved the official out of the way, and who gestured 'Come on' ?" You don't even see guys pulling that crap in'd be shamed out of hockey. Helmetless vs helmet and visor....punk!!!

Posted by pmarz1 on March 20, 2011 at 08:24 AM

Phaneuf and ample opportunity to just skate away if he didnt want to fight but he didnt. He chose to engage Horton without removing the visor. Enough said.

Posted by jlmcgui on March 20, 2011 at 10:39 AM

Take off the fu$king helmet you pu$$y ... Horton on the fact that Phaneuf decides to go ... then refuses to lose the lid. Horton's cut was the result of hitting the ice, not a Phaneuf fist. And for those saying that Phan-pansy didn't want to go, note the pair of "let's go!" taps to Horton as they come out from behind the net. If Phan-pansy dropped the lid ... then Horton, I'd respect that ... but he didn't! And the history between the two ... Horton and Phaneuf tangled before, and while Horton had Phaneuf pinned on the ice after a fight ... Phan-pansy threw 1 more punch up at Horton ... "against the code". But the B's are realin' ... and Montreal comes to town on Thursday ... just what the doctor orderer???

Posted by smashem on March 20, 2011 at 07:04 AM

I love how someone states Horton got his ass kicked, as i do with everyone that fights with a lid on they get the Auto loss.

Posted by BigBadBruin24 on March 19, 2011 at 10:48 PM

Pretty sloppy fight but Phaneuf is a C U Next Tuesday for not sheddin the bucket when the sheildless Horton was completely willing. Kinda pointless time to drop 'em, shoulda happened a lot earlier than this, but like any other game Phaneuf was busy running away from anyone willing to challenge. Give it a 3.

Dionna the biggest coward in hockey

Posted by AdamRiggs on March 20, 2011 at 12:17 AM

Wow what a vagina. Horton drops his lid, In recognition of the fact that he is fighting a guy wearing a visor, and Dion the worlds largest VAGINA decides to show his true colors by keeping his on. Complete lack of respect for Horton and for "the code". Declined Chara earlier in the night as well. Horton the win for obeying the code and for aggression, Dion the human meat locker did nothing the ice busted up Horton. As Andy Brickly said moments later it's a matter of "manning up".

Posted by nofin22 on March 20, 2011 at 01:00 AM

take off the visor

Posted by TommyGun29 on March 20, 2011 at 08:32 AM

Phaneuf pusses out and doesn't remove the lid. I was going with a draw but since he kept the bucket avec visor on I say he loses. Win for the Dunnville boy. The first one Horton threw was the best punch of the fight anyway.

Posted by mctuttle on March 20, 2011 at 10:20 AM

Phaneuf controlled the "fight" and landed more hits.

Posted by Makh2o on March 20, 2011 at 02:17 AM

How anyone voted for Horton I'll never know... he goats Dion into the fight, then gets hit a few times and falls on his head.

Posted by Clark75 on March 20, 2011 at 05:30 PM

All you tards giving this fight a draw or a win to Horton need to go back to your parents basement. Call the fight the way it should be called. Win Phaneuf. If your gonna go picking a fight, you'd better win to avoid looking like a complete D-bag loser. LOL! How can all you Leaf haters say that Horton cut his eye on the ice? Were you right there at the bench? You can clearly see Phaneuf catch Horton with at least 2 shots. Any of those could have done the damage. HATERS!

Posted by craig_9806 on March 20, 2011 at 02:04 AM

LOL lot's of fucking tool's commenting on this one. Hate both teams but why would Phaneuf take his helmet off to fight a nobody in a blowout game? Guess he should worry more about what tools on forms like these think rather then his own safety

Posted by slavv on March 20, 2011 at 05:56 PM

First the linesman got slapped out of the circle, then Horton got slapped to the ice....

Posted by fernben8 on March 20, 2011 at 01:39 PM

I'm not the biggest fan of Phaneuf but from what I can tell, he didn't go looking for this one... You can see Horton yapping at him and egging him to go. Sometimes...what goes around, comes around. Before you know it, a split brow for Horton. Win Dion.

@jlmcgui ...did the doctor order an ass kicking because boston is 1-4 against montreal this season you fucking idiot

Posted by Thibodeau on March 20, 2011 at 03:46 AM

Hugh Cares man what game were you watching, It was Lucic that tried to get Aulie to drop em, You are crazy as hell if you even think Aulie would even have a chance, damn even Aulie himself knew better that is why he didn't drop them. Also the comment on Orr taking out all the Bruins I can name 3 if not 4 that would give him a run for his money. Chara would just make him his bitch, Thornton would be a good scrap, McQuaid would be a decent scrap, and Lucic if he didn't have to be so damn careful of injurying his hands, yeah because he actually produces where Orr does not.

Posted by BigDaveBrown21 on March 20, 2011 at 12:30 AM

I don;t care if Phaneuf did not take off the visor in this one, which ios a rare exception, since the idiot Horton was too insistent and your team is up 5-1 there was no need to risk anything against the Bruins, especially this loser Whoreton. WHen you push for a fight as bad as Whoreton did you need to win. He got beat, bloodied and dismissed to the locker room for repairs. That is brutally bad and Whoreton deserves to be beat up by the rest of the Bruins for making the team look that bad.

Dion easy win for the leaf

Posted by Behn Wilson on March 22, 2011 at 04:44 AM

Phaneuf, and his visor, eventually cave to Horton's lid-toss invitation, and Karmic justice is served, as the, initially, unwilling Captain... ekes out a victory over the over-instigating Bruin.

Posted by LA KING FANATIC on March 21, 2011 at 01:34 PM

Dion should have flipped the lid, if he did not want to fight he could have skated away. Instead Horton got him to go, drop the visor Dion....Stop being a Puss

Posted by DARCY T on March 20, 2011 at 07:22 AM

slight edge phaneuf in short fight..gave it 4

Posted by hughcares on March 20, 2011 at 12:20 PM

Little Horton hearsawho gets owned by Phaneuf. Too bad that p*ssy Lucy wouldn't drop the gloves with Aulie - would have been another Boston clown sent to the trainers room for repairs. And that goal that Scheen got was nicer than anything Bobby Orr ever did.

Posted by GSP09 on March 20, 2011 at 12:18 PM

Why would Phaneuf take a chance of getting hurt, they are leading 5-1 at the end of the game and the Leafs are fighting for a playoff spot . Horton is another one of many Boston cowards who picks their spots. You'r a big man Horton since you joined the Boston Yellow Beaners, how come you didn't fight in Florida, cause you didn't have the pack to protect you. Bruins=Cowards

Posted by TexasCanadien on March 20, 2011 at 07:41 PM

Horton, the bitch, got thrown down like a little bitch. Who does Horton think he is? Chara? LOL

Posted by koolpunch on March 20, 2011 at 11:26 AM

Lots of talk about the lid, but Hulk Horton is lucky he even found a partner....let alone the captain. Toronto was up 5-1 at home with 8 minutes left...

Posted by rocky 1 on March 22, 2011 at 08:37 PM

Horton was the original aggressor in this fight but Phaneuf gets the best of Horton!Horton leaking at the end of this fight!

Posted by bloodonyourlips on March 20, 2011 at 05:14 PM

Hilarious to read comments by fans of both sorry ass teams, enjoyed watching this bunch of cheap shot artists get beat by the sorry ass Leafs! Both players are chumps but I'll give it to Phaneuf who clearly won this fight. Would've liked to see Orr and Thornton go, always a good scrap.

Posted by Mayhem2011 on March 20, 2011 at 12:23 AM

Horton asked to fight, did not win and wen to get stitches....HAHAHAHAHAH

Posted by Brawler88 on March 20, 2011 at 11:17 AM

Dion didn't even want to fight and think it was a snap decision when he finally decided to go. Horton wants to take his bucket off then cry that's his fault. Not like he Dion skated to the bench and put the visor on before the fight. He knew full well what he was dealing with before the fight and lost, tough luck imo.

Posted by Burrown on March 20, 2011 at 04:48 PM

Alright quit the trash talk here, to call Phaneuf a "joke" or a "crap" player is unreasonable beyond belief. The guy was nominated MVP his rookie year and has recently taken on the task of captain for a newly formed Leafs team that's still growing. You can see from the beginning of the play to the end of the bout that there was NO reason to fight. Horton dropped his gloves and Phaneuf was still not down with it, but he went and did so anyways. These two have gone before, but it looks as if Phaneuf is asking Horton what the fuck he is doing with eight minutes left in the game.... Anyhow, slight win for Phaneuf

Posted by Jordybats99 on February 02, 2016 at 11:16 AM

Give the edge to Dion Phaneuf.

Posted by EDDUBBS on March 20, 2011 at 12:21 AM

SO Horton says to Phaneuf "you have to kick my ass; please bloody me up because I am a loser". Phaneuf says "you're not a loser, Natie Poo, but you do deserve to get beat up for whining. Since you asked me so many time, I will oblige you and beat you up and as an added bonus, embarrass you and send you to the locker room, so you can have some milk and cookies." Whereupon, Phaneuf best his ass, bloodied him and sent him to the Bruins locker room for milk, cookies and doo doo".

Posted by evolutionrules on March 19, 2011 at 10:35 PM

horton asked to have his ass kicked and dion finally said OK. horton looks like an idiot in this one.

Posted by Leafs2006 on March 19, 2011 at 10:55 PM

Horton hears a who.....I love it when a no class hockey player, useless to his own team, thinks he's a heavyweight, his team is getting smoked, comes off the bench and instigates a scrap, then leaves the ice leaking. You should have stayed in Florida Horton Who. Dion didnt even wanna go, but felt the need to hurt this little man.Easy decision closed.

Posted by NoKnuckles on March 20, 2011 at 11:40 AM

Don't start something you can't finish Horton! Go DION! I'm laughing my a$$ off at all the Leaf Haters crying... this must be driving them nuts! Dion is too valuable as a shutdown defenceman to waste his time fighting, especially in a 5-1 game with 8 minutes left. All teams try to get him to fight just to get him off the ice because they are scared of his devastating hits. But he has shown before he can handle himself and Horton found that out. It's the same thing as Scott Stevens... he didn't fight much but was one of the best hitters this game has ever seen. Leaf Haters go suck a d1ck...

Posted by pharroch on March 21, 2011 at 09:26 AM

The Boston goonery in action in 3rd period with 4 goals behind. Horton asked for it and he got it. Could care less about Phaneuf not dropping his bucket. Where was Thornton all game long? He couldn't starts the goonery earlier in the game?Good job Phaneuf, too bad Horton decided to fall on the ice to stop the beating.

Posted by staceyb on March 20, 2011 at 07:41 AM

I listened to the Leafs radiocast with Joe and Ralphie and they were both chirping in glee over the outcome. I can understand Dion's hesitation to fight--his team was up 5-1 with eight minutes left, so what did he have to gain? But after the exchange of fists Phaneuf threw Horton down, which opened up the cut above Horton's right eye.

Wow, Boston was running around like a bush league team instead of losing with class....I don't like the Leafs or Phaneuf but he didn't want or need to fight, it was pointless and his team needs him to try and scramble for a play-off spot...Tim-Bit Horton goads him into it and takes a few then kisses the ice...good riddance!! As far as taking the visor off WHO CARES?? Tim-Bit was the one instigating it and acting like some big tough guy so it serves him sick of Boston's goon-it-up tactics, they are one and done in the 1st round of the play-offs the way they're playing

Posted by b_eazzzy on March 19, 2011 at 10:59 PM

that a boy dion......get that ref out the way and then remind horton where he's at. I love how horton all of the sudden is trying to play this tough guy role.

Posted by sulley71 on March 20, 2011 at 11:12 AM

Fan of neither team so no biased printing. It was obvious Phaneuf didn't want to go, you could see plain, him with palms up saying "why". I'm not making a big deal about the lid because he didn't have time, he just got his gloves off! Horton was gonna throw regardless if Phaneuf did. In the end Horton ended up looking stupid for not beating him. Win Phaneuf.

Posted by PENGUINSCUP09 on March 20, 2011 at 01:06 AM

Nothing more embarrassing than calling someone out like a tough guy; then failing BADLY. I would say Horton looked like pk subban; but Horton actually "drops the gloves"

Posted by MidnightExpress on March 20, 2011 at 05:24 AM

RogerNYLA, you are a complete donkey! Maybe, you should keep your opinions to yourself until you complete the grade 4 remedial program. I can understand that you are beaking Dion for not shedding the lid in a fight that he, as the Leafs leader, wanted no part of in a 5-1 dusting. He kept the bucket tight to the brain and dusted up the self-proclaimed heavyweight Horton. The fact that you are taking shots at Toronto is "embarrasing" as "Phanueff" is originally from Edmonton and played all of his junior hockey in Prince George. I can guarantee that the majority of hockey fans in Toronto have a a far greater understanding of the game of hockey than you and your over-40 fat boy mens league friends from the "lower 48". I question that you can even wrap your head around the irony of that last blanket statement. Figure it out bro.

Posted by Pierre LaRoc on March 20, 2011 at 08:39 AM

Dion with the clear win. @ETR Hiding behind the ref to get the first punch in? Horton got the first punch in, you pylon.

Posted by ryanjs2004 on March 20, 2011 at 01:39 PM

I'm a Flamer who hates the Leafs and never cared for Phaneuf but I must say he is a good fighter. Always has been always will be. Not only am happy to see him keep his lid on he should have clubbed Horton over the head with his stick and then rammed his mouth guard down his throat. PS: Best way to fight Chara is club him in the 'nads.

Posted by Terrible on March 20, 2011 at 02:26 AM

Phaneuf didn't even have to take his visor off. The fight was totally pointless, and Horton got what was coming to him. Its funny, that it was said he wouldn't go Chara. Last season Chara would have nothing to do with Orr. Woulda loved to see Orr in the lineup tonight.

Posted by Big Daddy D on March 21, 2011 at 11:25 PM

What's the deal with Nathan Horton going after Phaneuf? I seem to recall these two guys rolling around the ice earlier this season. Did Nate wheel Alicia at some point? Anyway, 5-1 lead I don't blame Phaneuf for not wanting to drop the glove, but if you're "into it" and someone is all hopped up and ready to go, it's not easy to just turn it on for a guy is not a regular fighter. Give Dion the nod and I don't care visor or no visor. I'm pretty sure Horton could see he had one on. If you don't want to fight a guy wearing a visor, simply put don't pick a fight with guy who has one on!

Posted by faq2 on March 20, 2011 at 02:26 AM

no fan of Phaneuf, but consider this, Horton ran around trying to draw him in, and why the fuck would he want to fight a jackass like that when they're winning 5-1? and as for the lid, Phaneuf didn't want the fight, and why the fuck would a $6.5 million a year assett take off his bucket for any tool who comes looking? what code??? no one tosses a lid in the corner when it goes off, why, why do you expect a guy to drop his helmet??? you think Probert would toss his lid for some punk?

Posted by kinga101 on March 20, 2011 at 07:40 PM

Horton was a day late and a dollar short in this one. He should've done this in the 2nd period, not down 5-1 with 8 minutes left in the game. They had several run ins throughout the game but I think it was Horton's slew foot attempt that raised Phaneuf's ire but at that point in the game there clearly was no need to fight. Under the circumstances I don't have a huge problem with Phanuef keeping the lid on and I don't understand why Horton didn't get an extra penalty for forcing the fight, but then again, Bruins rarely if ever get instigator penalties and they almost always start altercations when falling behind. As for the fight itself, not much landed by either but Phaneuf overpowered Horton at the end with the slam to the ice.

Posted by countejacula on March 20, 2011 at 04:47 AM

Visor or not Dion won this one hands down. He didn't want to fight but as the team captain he couldn't let down his teammates by allowing Horton to take liberties with him. So he punched him around a bit. I don't particularly care for Dion but I appreciate what he did for his team tonight.

Posted by TieClark on March 20, 2011 at 01:47 AM

Horton is a tool. He chased Phaneuf around the ice in the 3rd period of a blow out and then got his behind handed to him, only to try and chase more leafs around for a fight his next shift. As for the shield, normally I'd agree, but Phaneuf didn't even want to fight. He only chose to do so after Horton had already lost and gloves and helmet and was trying to get at him.

Stick a fork in the Bruins.Clueless moron of a coach thinks its the 70's. Team is slow, physical in a dumb way and sinking fast. What next, turn Princess Kaberlee into a fighter? Melon head Boston fans actually rated Horton the winner is this fight. I guess Dion using Horton's bloodied dome as a speed bag means Horton won for beating up Phaneufs hands with his face. Clear win for the Leaf Capt.

Horton typical punk Bruin to get his ars kicked..

Horton does better against Non-fighting Euro-weenies. The Announcer's were right Dion needed to stay out of it but Horton wasn't gonna let that happen. For his trouble Horton got his azz handed to him.

Captain Phaneuf with the win!!

Posted by 5minmajor22 on March 22, 2011 at 09:22 AM

Phaneuf is a solid defenceman, not a tough guy fighter. He's smart to wear a visor. His value to his team is not to punch out the opponent, but by playing 25 minutes of hockey. Leave the fighting to Brown and Orr

Posted by Spazemunky on March 20, 2011 at 04:41 PM

Wow... Dion you pussy... it takes a special kind of fairy to make Nathan Horton look like the honorable guy. Dion should never live this down. visor hiding coward.

Posted by bortinithegreat on March 19, 2011 at 10:39 PM

refusal to drop lid = a "C" on your sweater in Toronto. refusal to hit = another loss for the b-ruins. Too bad you cant punch a puck in the net- b's would be all set.

Posted by spartan21 on March 19, 2011 at 10:28 PM

Phaneuf fails to remove his helmet/visor after Horton removes his visorless helmet. Phaneuf clearly wants no part of Horton and neither land a clean shot before Horton is tackled to the ice. Horton's head contacts the ice resulting in a inch gash over his eyebrow. There's no winners here but Phaneuf clearly should have kept his gloves on.

Posted by travist on March 20, 2011 at 05:13 PM

i've always liked phaneuf, and this may be my bruins bias coming out, but you have to lose the lid. he acted like a don't wanna fight then don't. draw and lame, horton cracks head on the ice.

A fight is a fight regardless if you are up by 5 or down by 5. Do we really need to be this sensitive and gentle in this era? Anyone who has ever played the game at any level understand how frustrating it is to be losing in a blowout and when you are up 5,6,7 you had better be ready for things to get chippy. When I see a blowout I know there is a good chance fights will occur and that is what I want to see, don't you?

Posted by chad420 on March 22, 2011 at 11:42 AM

Celine Dion keeps her lid on...then dumps Horty on his head on the ice, that makes him leak...definately not a win in my book...BTW this was dismal performance by Bs...they need to start playing like Pro Athletes and Show Up to games

phaneuf should have taken off the bucket, props to Horton

Posted by Montana on March 19, 2011 at 11:18 PM

Terrible act of lack of courage by Phaneuf, you play tough you have to answer the bell, they say no need to fight at this stage of game, that's find but if you drop the mitts, take the helmut and darn visor off, especially when your opponent already has. Totally lost respect for Phaneuf tonight.

Posted by Screaming Buffalo on March 20, 2011 at 04:54 AM

At first I was going to gripe about Phaneuf not tossing the lid but on the replay it showed that he didn't even want to fight. It was basically a pointless fight in a blowout game with nothing going on. I can't stand Phaneuf or guys who don't lose the lid when their opponent does but I can't blame him here. Horton looked like a moron and then ends up hitting his head on the ice.

Dion should have taken his helmet off. We all know that, even if some people don't want to admit it. Most of us aren't surprised that he didn't. Boring fight, boring topic. Leafs should have dressed Rosehill and they didn't. I understand Wilson's reasoning. He couldn't have imagined that the game would be so lopsided and that all the Bruins would want to do is look for fights. Also, I heard Orr has been cleared to play, but the Leafs will probably shut him down until next season.

Posted by AbuNidal on March 20, 2011 at 10:17 AM

"why am I gonna fight you????" Who does Horton think he is?? Iginla?? Phagoof shouldn't have dropped his bucket ,it seems he didn't want to fight . What may seem pansy-ish to most, was really self preservation. He only has to look up in the Laffs box and see the little birds still flying around Orrs head to realize what could happen. If Phagoof wanted the fight, he should have chucked bucket prior to knuckles!! Win for the d man

Ok I wasn't even going to watch....i saw the 4 and the first thing I thought was Dion was playing the big shot and then did one of his non-eventful fights....Being a diehard leaf fan, I couldn't not watch.....So in all fairness to Dion I think the announcer's were rt!!!! Now haveing said that under NO circumstance do I think Dion is A fighter nor should he Pre-tend to be tuff BECAUSE he's NOT!!!! Ps Some peoples distain for players clouds their judgement in review's and IMO they cheaping themselves and there credibility....At least they do with me.....If you have a bias .....A la Me and Mr Prust or oppositely Avery ....ADMITT it and then your review will hold more weight

Wow... Dion finally won one. Funny because Horton was beggin for it and got whooped.

A Behn Wilson comment on something visor related in 3 2 1...

Posted by FHgrad99 on March 19, 2011 at 10:44 PM

Horton was persistant and Phaneuf finally obliged him. Phaneuf got the better punches in and got a narrow win, I think.

Posted by kkdowning on March 20, 2011 at 07:12 PM

With very mixed emotions, I have to give Alice the Goon (Phaneuf) the win.

Big tough guy Phaneuf...refusing to remove the helmet
