that was just silly

Posted by shanlon on October 10, 2010 at 07:57 PM

Look like two bitches having a cat fight.

Posted by pga5 on October 09, 2010 at 11:46 PM

It wasn't a hug-fest; Green spent more time keeping away from Kovy than throwing punches. Weak.

Posted by lb1631 on October 11, 2010 at 12:48 PM

CHICO WHAT ARE YOU WATCHING???? Was that a spin-er-ama fight. Kovalchuk now thinks he is a tough guy?

Posted by bradyj4 on October 11, 2010 at 05:22 PM

My three and four year old nephews had a better scrap this weekend. I'm sure they hit harder too.

Posted by bruiseyoureye on October 12, 2010 at 07:02 PM

pure crap. looked like 2 fairies. when is ovechkin gonna fight? answer is "never" because hes a huge hairy vagina.

Posted by hawkfanlm on October 12, 2010 at 11:08 AM

did i see kovy go for the hair pull at the end. watch this fight if your in need for a good laugh

Posted by b_eazzzy on January 18, 2011 at 04:52 PM

wow brutal......as if the score wasn't embarassing enough, these 2 had to do this.

Posted by shuckthefarks on October 11, 2010 at 10:24 AM

I can't call a winner in this one.....Ilya, if you close your hands, they make a fist. You can use it to punch with....much more effective than slapping. I know Donald Brashear can start a fight with open hands, but not so effective for you.

Posted by sulley71 on October 10, 2010 at 10:32 PM

I like the cat like pawing from Kovy and the "girl like" missed punch from Green! These guys shouldn't go there again...

Posted by Caps44 on October 10, 2010 at 12:10 AM

Absolutely hilarious to see these two fight! Neither are fighters and both are too valuable to their teams to engage in this nonsense. They really seemed to be dancing or perhaps even pretending to fight until common sense appeared to be restored miraculously. No harm, but lots of anger on both, particularly Kovalchuk and the Devils. Lots of frustration on the Jersey side.

Posted by 8sidkid7 on October 10, 2010 at 10:23 AM

If Green is going to drop the gloves against a "superstar" then he'd better swing. Just goes to show that most of Caps players are punks with mouths bigger than their fists. And he should also get his money back for that awful haircut he has.....whatta chump.

Posted by Lugatha on October 10, 2010 at 02:53 PM

Props to Kovalchuk for pursuing Green who was skating backwards away from the fight the whole time....

Posted by bubbicon on October 11, 2010 at 12:50 PM

Nice pairs skating routine

Posted by Dave Brown HOF on October 19, 2010 at 03:38 PM

Terrible fight but at least they tried and I still like seeing two allstars having a go. Loved how they disregarded the Calgary rule and decided to drop the lids.

Posted by illadelph7475 on October 10, 2010 at 03:58 PM

lousy fight.

Posted by Nicknackems94 on October 11, 2010 at 05:45 PM

Whenever two great players fight it always ends so quick. But props to the both of them for trying.

Posted by Sapunka16 on October 10, 2010 at 04:14 PM

Mike Green is pretty good at flailing around like a bitch.

Posted by Punchdaddy on October 12, 2010 at 11:24 AM

Swing your partner, Doe See Doe. Chico "that was good, no one hurt". LOL good for what?

Posted by Behn Wilson on October 10, 2010 at 05:27 PM

Now THAT...was funny! Cat fight.

Posted by DARCY T on October 17, 2010 at 10:32 AM

Posted by Humper on October 10, 2010 at 11:50 AM

Fun to watch, but no real fight here. Lots of swings, looked like all were misses.

Posted by bruins rule on October 10, 2010 at 12:19 PM

gave this one a draw.

Posted by cardiffgiant on October 10, 2010 at 09:30 PM

That was like watching two ugly girls in a slap fight.

Posted by ghjkfdhgfd on October 10, 2010 at 06:04 PM

Kovi tried at least

Posted by Muscles on October 11, 2010 at 07:09 PM

Looking at the score of the game, maybe they found Kovalchuk's highest and best use.

Posted by paddyd on October 10, 2010 at 07:26 PM

Mike Green skates backwards well, only problem....he couldn't find the door to get out of there!

Posted by mr hockey on October 10, 2010 at 11:22 AM

hey i give kovalchuk props twice for dropping the mits and dropping the lid greenon the other hand though you suck hahaahaa

Posted by tinbanger on October 10, 2010 at 03:13 PM

kovalchuk wanted it more i think.

Posted by parkjimi on October 10, 2010 at 01:00 PM

I gave it to Kovy because Green ran. Not so far to say he turtled, but he wanted no part of it.

Posted by Canes13 on October 10, 2010 at 01:20 PM

Did anyone else catch the announcer say "when it happens, the fists start fu-ckin doc" It's at the 1:30 mark

Posted by The_Rickster on October 10, 2010 at 07:15 PM

Green fights like a girl and thought he could take the Russian star. Guess again sissy!!

Posted by hockey450 on October 15, 2010 at 02:56 AM

Kovalchuk with the win, i like it when stars take care of their business and dont rely on the tough guy to come in and fight for them... mike green was being a puss, he kept backing away.

Posted by leeban on October 10, 2010 at 04:24 PM

Kovalchuk with the narrow victory Green looked very girly in this fight.

Posted by Detroit_Caps on October 10, 2010 at 06:50 PM

"its the thought that counts". . you really cant tell who landed what, but no punches did anything.  . . might wanna work with King after practice there Greenie. Anyways, A for effort on both sides.

Posted by no123one on November 23, 2010 at 06:26 PM

Crap fight, win Green Kovalchuk always slap fights like a girl for some reason, and always loses.

Posted by Vic_Rattlehead on October 12, 2010 at 05:31 PM

If you saw the Capitals feed with Joe B doing the call He said as the fight was starting that Green was really into MMA so I got really excited but this was a major let down

Posted by rust-hrust on October 10, 2010 at 02:53 PM

Kovalchuk KRASAVA!!!

Posted by DC FURY on October 11, 2010 at 10:58 AM

Had they not been star players that would have been the most pathetic fight to watch since Semin "fought" Marc Staal.

Posted by e19Ht on October 10, 2010 at 10:57 AM

Heres a thought "sid"...Kovy is bout 240lbs Green is bout 210lbs and kovy is bigger. If you think for a second that green was trying to keep distance ur on crack. He was trying to fight him but kovy wanted to play ring arouns the rosie with him. And green isnt a fighter like mentioned before. But to say we have no fighters?? Go ahead and watch Mr DJ King who is arguably the BEST fighter in the NHL. Your just being a typical pens fan by saying what you just said. DJ King would and prob will beat the crap out of anyone on your team and anyones team. Just wait, promiseee...

announcer is right. its wild and fun to watch 2 stars go at it. not much of a fight though but very much appreciated

Posted by PigIron on October 21, 2010 at 07:09 PM

Slapping and hairpulling! I LOVE womens hockey!

Posted by durka on October 10, 2010 at 11:30 PM

lmao. wtf is tht?

Posted by BritishRedWing on October 10, 2010 at 05:55 PM

What started as a game of patty-cake turned into a draw. No punches landed, as far as I could tell. Props to Green for at least trying to send IK a message.

Posted by balravens13 on October 11, 2010 at 04:17 PM

Aww how cute they at least acting like they knew what they were doing. Both drop the gloves and helmets then danced around a little before the real action started when both spun in circles with eachother. This is why stars are stars and enforcers do this stuff.

Posted by thor128 on October 10, 2010 at 10:09 PM

That was embarrassingly bad.

Posted by Big_Fat_Dan on October 11, 2010 at 07:18 AM

RUBBISH! Fun to see some of the higher profile players drop um.

Posted by groovemessenger on October 11, 2010 at 01:50 PM

Mike Green looks a lot tougher on his website.

Posted by Js7ii on November 16, 2010 at 01:01 AM

Dear mike green, stick to scoring dear Ilya, start scoring

Posted by BearsCaps27 on October 10, 2010 at 06:45 PM

haha wow. i love green but horible cat fight

Posted by CocoQuaker7 on October 10, 2010 at 11:23 AM

This bout was a let down. Green jumped away like he was scared, then spun Kovalchuk so he couldn't throw.

Posted by muskokadangler on October 10, 2010 at 08:35 PM

Not much of a fight but I found it very Exciting!!!!! Wayta go Boys!!!!! Canes13 The announcer says the fist start FLYIN doc.... LMFAO

Posted by KevinSpencerPhD on October 11, 2010 at 01:28 PM

if you take a look, Kovalchuk gets a hold of greens jersey and is ready to unload, but he hesitates. in that instance, you GOTTA get that first shot in. draw.

Posted by chad420 on October 12, 2010 at 03:07 PM

"Gimme back my lunch money!"

Posted by Clowes ABeast29 on October 10, 2010 at 12:14 AM

hahhaha great stuff

Posted by PensRule on October 10, 2010 at 11:54 AM

e19Ht youre so wrong. The difference between 210 1nd 240 is not that big. The fact that green was trying to fight him is total crap aswell as the fact that kovalchuk was playing ring around the rosie. he was trying to get a good grip on green but green was running away like a baby. to say green is not a fighter has no bearing on the situation because kovalchuk isnt a fighter either. eric godard could beat the crap ouot of dj king.
