More of a Draw then a Rypien W

Posted by Cob37Jam on April 11, 2010 at 03:47 PM

Did either land anything? Draw.

Posted by Behn Wilson on April 11, 2010 at 08:12 PM

Love the explosive start by both guys. Rypien with the early lefts, but once Mayers gets his helmet off, he bests him at his own game of ''two-fistedness''. The fall seemed a slip, although Rypien punched him all the way down in order to help his case for the win. Rypien early, and late, with Mayers owning the middle, and landing the better shots. Draw.

Posted by brazos on April 11, 2010 at 10:41 AM

Very surprised that no one commented about Rypien continuing to throw punches when Mayers was on the ice. Not very sportsmen like. That should deduct from Rypien.

Posted by hal29 on April 11, 2010 at 10:14 PM

mayers looked much better in the double fist exchange. rypien landed one at the beginning and then it was all mayers from there. mayers goes down and rypien lands some useless none damaging punches at the end when mayers was down. i gave this a draw but rypien landed those punches at the end because he was frustrated because he lost at his style in that exchange and felt it was the only way to win hitting rypien when he was down.

Posted by walleye 420 on April 14, 2010 at 05:33 PM

Mayers came out flying but his speed cost him as he lost his balance.

Posted by tomdetroit on April 13, 2010 at 04:20 PM

Draw. Decent scrap. Starting to think Rypien really ENJOYS fighting.

Posted by sitnlo38 on April 11, 2010 at 02:12 AM

comeon hordadouche bag he doesn't fight he just wwe's his way to diva heaven protecting his girlfriend kesler i give rypien credit for fighting but he doesn't win as many as the homers say and maybe horduchunk will be on the ultimate fighter next year as a floor mat for fighters to wipe their feet come the playoffs all those canuck premium fighters will be watching in the press box no hockey for you

Watched this 8 times to pick a winner. Rypien got in a few quick ones at the start...Mayers comes back with a few and over throws one to loose his balance. Rypien's non-verbal has him thinking he won this...but I see a clear Draw. Way to end the the regular season boys ! Good one !!

Posted by b.t.wilson on April 11, 2010 at 01:09 AM

a fast and furious draw, very entertaining.

Posted by Awesome-0 on April 11, 2010 at 09:20 PM

I am big Canucks/Rypien fan but I'm pretty sure that was a draw

Posted by ThrowdownSJ408 on April 11, 2010 at 01:57 AM

this is rippers biggest win of the season it he landed tho. jamal got off balance which got him awkward to take those.

Posted by Rypienrocks on April 11, 2010 at 01:58 AM

Hey sedinfan, ur a loser. Rypien himself has won 12 to 13 of his fights while Hordichuk has won most of his. Bieksa beat up Richards and Crombeen, Glass hangs in there with some tough guys so why don't youe actually watch somme of the fights before yapping about the canucks

Yeah, no way Rypien won this fight. He actually got lucky that Mayers lost his balance.

Posted by Truk on April 11, 2010 at 02:46 PM

Mayers lets loose with the fists of fury to counter Rypien's usual early jump. Mayers with the edge before the slip. Of course Rypien has to pop him a couple of times after to appear victorious. Certainly not a Mayers fan but I don't think he did anything to deserve a punch or three when he was down.

Posted by illinidarin on April 11, 2010 at 10:10 AM

Mayers won this fight. He was more active and and Mayers fell down down more than anything else.

Posted by preciselyfun on April 11, 2010 at 04:15 PM

To all of you Rypien ball-cuppers, stop. He didn't win this one. This was most likely a draw but I'll vote Mayers just to even it up. Bloody Canuck fans. Starting to vote like Boogaard lovers.

Posted by pepsigenerate on April 11, 2010 at 04:37 PM

jamel mayers with the win definetly here rypien knew it thats why he kept throwing after mayers slipped to the ice.

Posted by sedinfan on April 11, 2010 at 12:02 AM

No bigger fan of the Canucks than me. So please homers, don't go into the Rypien did this, Rypien did that description. Mayers fell down at the end but won the fight. Rypien lost like the Canucks always do. i think they have had 63 fights this year, and I estimate their record at about 10 wins, 45 losses and 8 draws. Good team, although Lou scares me the way he has been playing in the playoffs. Luckily there is very little fighting in playoffs so they can't get run out of the rink like they do on occasion.

Posted by KJP on April 11, 2010 at 12:59 PM

rypien never 'man up's " when he fights..always cowering(covering his face with his hands and pulling his helmet down to protect his face....

Posted by cluffy on April 11, 2010 at 01:15 AM

how can anyone say rypien won? all you rypien fans need to watch the fight mayers had better punches just fell down. mayers with the win and very classy to hit a guy when hes down

Posted by japito on April 12, 2010 at 04:49 PM

Rypien is a great fighter but he lost this one. Mayers all the way.

Posted by Snot-Bubbler on April 11, 2010 at 09:51 AM

Wow the Rypien fans see nothing ..........but Rypien WIN MAYERS!!!!!!! If you think Rypien won, your either a homer, or just a fan.

Posted by leafslover85 on April 11, 2010 at 09:20 PM

hey i say that was a draw , mayers did win if not a draw though, and i dont count any punches when 1 is on the ground-(against the code)

So many Canuck and Rick Rypien haters here... Sedinfan please leave Vancouver and move to Toronto.. you sir are no Canucks fan Tomales2 what the hell do you want Rypien to do go toe to toe with fighters that have 20-50 Lbs on him? use your head before you comment.. as for the Rypien cult on this website I guess the fact that he has fought the likes of: Hal Gill 6'7 240 Lbs (cant fight his way out of a paper bag but what ever hes huge) Zack Stortini 3 times 6'4 220 Lbs Brad May 6'1 205 Lbs Cody McLeod 6'2 206 Lbs Boris Valabik 6'7 245 Lbs Cam Janssen 5'11 205 lbs Neil, Prust and Mayers Being 5'11 and 184 lbs It is a big deal that he can do what he dose give the man the respect he deserves

Posted by Garettzky on April 12, 2010 at 11:53 AM

Rypien wins because when you are the champ you get the nod when it is close, and Mayers is lucky that he slipped, there was a whole world of hurt comin his way!

Posted by tyrone on April 11, 2010 at 10:23 PM

Rip Van Winkle all the way. Ghetto boy lost his arse. RVW is the best middle weight.

Posted by Dave Brown HOF on April 16, 2010 at 04:38 PM

Love seeing two guys taking a faceoff and dropping them right after and not giving a shit about the puck after it's dropped. Rypien with the decision in this one. Wow, what an end to an underachieving, embarrassing and all around pathetic year it was for the Flamers and they're fans. They lost this fight, they lost the game and they lost they're self respect by having the Sedin twins make them look like a Bantam C team. Daniel skates around Mr. Overated Bouwmeester like he was standing still for a goal. Then both brothers combine for one of the sickest goals of the year on the tip pass between Henrik's legs and then Daniel going between his legs for the goal. I guess getting embarrassed all season long makes getting played with and embarrassed on this night a little easier to take for them. I can't believe they have fans that paid to see these plugs all year long. Oh well, I guess they have the Stampede to look forward to.

Posted by Madcheddar on April 11, 2010 at 01:09 PM

The Pitbull just needed a dime for the Gordy Howe hat trick. I was at this game and it was great to see the Canucks treat the Flames like their bi**h. Not only did Rypien dummy Mayers but the Sedins KO'd the Flames like the Flames were a pee wee 7 team. All round great night at the expense of the punk Flames.

Posted by kronvallizer78 on April 11, 2010 at 04:13 AM

Rypien what he does best, going tazmanian devil on Mayers. Edge Ripper for the relentless left that finally saw Mayers succumb.

Posted by IceHockey91 on April 11, 2010 at 09:32 AM

Posted by billgoldberg14 on April 12, 2010 at 05:13 PM

Ok it is a good fight tho but im thinking why Toronoto traded mayers????

Posted by B-taco on April 11, 2010 at 03:36 PM

How was this a win for Rypien again? Draw all the way.

Posted by J.R. Abel on April 15, 2010 at 06:03 PM

Should have been a better fight than it was. Gave it a 5. Watched it a few times and have to call it a draw. Both landed a few then Mayers slipped. Can't fault Rypien for Mayers losing his balance, but can't give Mayers any credit for landing a few then falling to the ice. Hopefully we see a rematch next season.

Posted by illukka on April 11, 2010 at 03:38 AM

lots thrown, very little landed and very little damage done, entertaining fight though. im goin for a draw as mayers obviously slipped

Posted by claire alexande on April 11, 2010 at 12:39 PM

I'm tempted to give the win to Mayers because of Rypien's typical Capuke douchebaggery after the Flame loses his balance, but I score it as it was--a draw. Some of you teenage Nuck fans need to get a life--the pillow-punching Rypien loses as many as he wins, especially when he faces a guy who can actually fight. He hasn't been the same since Prust kicked his pill-addled ass. cory411--you're a disgrace to this site. Please fuck off and don't come back.

Posted by travist on April 11, 2010 at 03:46 AM

yeah did i miss something? a slip and clear draw here...

Posted by samtheman on April 11, 2010 at 09:01 PM

I'm calling a draw. Mayers was getting the better but can't give the guy a W when he loses his balances, falls down and takes a few shots after doing so...

Posted by chad420 on April 12, 2010 at 10:18 AM

what behn said

Posted by tim daddy on April 15, 2010 at 11:33 AM

its a draw, was it teen day at the site? maybe some of you should be hanging around the mall trying to look dangerous.

Posted by Radiotalker on April 13, 2010 at 05:42 PM

Pretty even. Mayers early, Rypien late.

Posted by mike hartman on April 11, 2010 at 11:52 AM

great fight, I love the rypper but this was a draw

Posted by tomales2 on April 11, 2010 at 03:42 AM

Why is Sedinfan not truly a Canuck fan? Because he's not a member of the kissie-kissie cult? I do not like either one of these guys and never will for a variety of reasons. But this was a Mayers win despite all of the absurd, bogus voting. The only punches landed by Rypien were when Mayers was either on his way down, from a balance issue, or down. I'm so sick of this Rypien cult crap. He tosses a million, quick punches that couldn't hurt my 5 year old daughter, and now he's your hero. And you give this fight a rating of 6? Sickening.

Posted by amerks25 on April 11, 2010 at 08:50 PM

Rypien equals no honor or class.

Posted by oats925 on April 11, 2010 at 02:37 PM

I have no idea why so many people voted for rypien. Mayers all day

Posted by ABWigim on April 11, 2010 at 07:19 PM

Rypien gets the take down but Mayers was throwing a lot of punches and landed a lot of them. Mayers with the W.

Posted by Canucks420 on April 11, 2010 at 03:11 AM

Pretty even fight here with both throwing em pretty well, Mayers loses his balance and Rypien tags him as he goes down, Mayers covers up and takes a couple more shots. Win Rypien! Anyone catch the play at the end of this game where Rypien takes just a vicious high stick to the forehead, bleeding profusely, refs standing right there and stop the game but no penalty? How's that work out? Guy's bleeding so bad you have to whistle the play dead, but no call? Get with it refs! That's an automatic double minor!

Posted by jaswa on April 11, 2010 at 12:35 AM

Draw on film but Rypien holds his own against a much larger opponent, again....and you could easily say he gets the edge too. uh...."sedinfan", your numbers on the Canucks fight card are waaaaaay off, you Oiler groupie. Stop pretending your a 'Nucks fan. Hordichuk is 7-4-3 by himself (according to this site, and I'd actually give him 2 more wins over Parros and Boogard than what the voters gave him here...Boogie had to get 7 stitches and had a broken nose from that overhand right after the horse collar throw by Hordi, followed by big dum- dum going for the eye gouge on Hordichuk...BUT i digress). Point is, you have no clue with your comments about the Canucks losing fights. Both Rypien and Hordichuk are beating the p*ss out of guys and almost alwasy give up 20 to 30 pounds and several inches on every fight. Check your numbers again doofus. PS...I'm NOT a Canucks fan but I do envy their fighters. We miss Hordichuk here in Nashville.

Posted by hammertown on April 11, 2010 at 09:28 AM

Good fight with 2 good guys. Win RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRipper!

Posted by Rick16 on April 11, 2010 at 12:57 AM

mayers hands looked busy but it didnt look like he landed much, if anything... rypien was more effective and gets the W

Posted by BigBadBruins68 on April 11, 2010 at 06:02 PM

Mayers was game, but Rypien landed more and was standing tall when it ended. He certainly holds claim as the middleweight champ for this year. Rypien haters can hate, but he's the man this year for the Nucks, he never backs down. He rarely lost and is awesome to watch.

Posted by muskokadangler on April 11, 2010 at 09:19 AM

I liked that and I think Mayers was smart to try useing both hands....I would really love to see the best two fisted fighters in the league go at it.......Ripper and Too Too.....What I mean by that is both guys throw either hand better than other guys thro those hands.....Personly I would love to see Ripper beat the POO POO out of Too Too........Lmao i couldn't resist

Posted by DuffyBank on April 11, 2010 at 10:16 AM

Rypien in a close good fight. Rick landed more and what amazes me when ever I see him fight is his balance. A miss by Mayers and a tug forward on the jersey by Rypien and down goes Jamal.

Posted by Bensonator27 on April 11, 2010 at 11:04 AM

Sedinfan... what fights do you watch? Furthermore, have you yourself ever been in a hockey fight? I dont think you have, because you clearly dont know what to look for in fights. The real thing to see is who landed more punches. Rypien was the clear winner in that category. And for those who think Rypiens punches arent hard... the guy is a boxer. You admit their fast but not hard? Your a bunch of idiots...cause in case you didnt know, a punch thats moving fast is a hard punch. This was a close one, but win Rypien... get in a fight or two before you rate them, idiots.
