I was wondering when MMA would come to the NHL. It started earlier withStabitz forearming Toots and now comes to this. It's actually pretty funny to watc as Stroweenie starts throwing forearm shivers at Ripper so he obliges and starts dropping hammer fists. I don't know how to call this so I'll say a draw. What's next a superman punch followed by a spinning back fist?

Posted by kyberdog on December 29, 2009 at 02:56 PM

Rypien better looks like he was swatting with his purse............... Huggy bear looked a tad bit better.

Posted by GCBC00 on December 27, 2009 at 11:40 PM

Good to see Storweenie finally looking to throw punches even though most of them were nicely blocked by Rypien's boxing background. Not much damage done here. More punches thrown by Storweenie, but Ripper fought a smaterer fight! DRAW

Posted by sitnlo38 on December 27, 2009 at 08:30 PM

hey if we wanna see boxing i'll turn that on same as mma nice forearms popeye drop the gloves square off and fight

Posted by ewen21 on December 27, 2009 at 09:34 AM

Unreal how much people are infuenced by who they like and don't like. Forget who they are, forget who is bigger, forget the style of fighting you like.....this fight is a draw.

Posted by clownbaby on December 27, 2009 at 09:02 PM

Kind of entertaining even though not much damage happened. Always fun to see a homeless man fight for his food.

Posted by oilersforlife on December 29, 2009 at 02:54 AM

You zack haters are beyond stupid. The guy got worked the last time around and comes back with a solid fight. He DID NOT LOSE this one. Anyone saying he did is a flippin idiot. Draw. Get over your hatred for Zack, you biased jackasses.

Posted by omorales on December 27, 2009 at 11:29 PM

not sure anybody had an edge

Posted by sirensong on December 27, 2009 at 06:24 PM

I'm a HUGE Rypien fan, but this is a draw at best for him. The voting on this site is out on control, its so bias you can't look at any vote and take it at face value anymore.

Rypien good fight.

Posted by rugby on December 26, 2009 at 11:43 PM

This was definitely Stortini's best showing of the 3 scraps with Rypien. Still amazed at how quick Ryp is and that he can control and dictate the fight despite giving up many inches and over 50 pounds (then again Stortini is not that good). Called it a draw, but I got the impression that Rypien could have kept going as he was throwing uppercuts, while for Stortini, the linesmen came in at the right time, b/c he looked done.

Posted by boldbilly on December 27, 2009 at 10:41 AM

Let me start by saying I'm a habs fan AND I'M NOT BIASED WHEN I VOTE. Having said that I also hate Stortini but you've got to admitt he's got heart. Also I love Rypien and his buzz saw approach to his confrontations. PEOPLE STOP VOTING AGAINST FIGHTERS BASED ON WHICH TEAM YOU ROOT FOR......... THIS FIGHT WAS AN OBVIOUS DRAW . It could be argued a slight edge to the Ripper but the way the voting has gone ( at the time of this note ) 58% for ripper seems hardly fair. THIS FIGHT WAS A DRAW HOMERS TRY TO CONTAIN YOURSELVES IT IS RUINING WHAT USED TO BE A PRETTY GOOD SITE.

Posted by crosscheck52 on December 27, 2009 at 09:12 PM

This was a good fight, but I wondered about Rypien's hits to the back of Stortini's head. I scored this a draw. Stortini fought well in this one.

Posted by Awesome-0 on December 27, 2009 at 12:44 PM

Stortini looked good, actually threw a bunch of punches. He wasn't dominated by Rypien like in the previous fights. The forearm smash may have been a stratregy to try and get around Rypien block. Anyway, great fight, I'm going with a draw.

Posted by Dramagods on December 27, 2009 at 09:32 AM

Draw

Posted by 2001GT on January 02, 2010 at 01:36 AM

Edmonton should be so ashamed to dress such a dud. Can't skate, cant score, cant fight or enforce. Zacks just a whole lot of ugly. Draw for me

Posted by pimking21 on December 27, 2009 at 03:37 PM

the only reason anyone voted for rypien is becuase it tears them up inside to admit stortini is becoming a better fighter and beat rypien. i dont usually analyze fights, i respect these guys. but zack deserves a win against rick. hell be the first to tell you he got his ass kicked the first fight. but hes got alot of courage and gets better every fight against rick. good fight. draw or edge to rypien. zack is getting better every year

Posted by Bear72 on December 27, 2009 at 08:54 AM

Snortini please retire donate your skull to science because its mush...every time you fight you remind me of Cowan...whats with the forearm shiver...Edmenton gave up Big Mac for this no wonder they absolutely suck

Posted by pepsigenerate on December 27, 2009 at 01:05 AM

Rypien with the win,but the fight could of kept going but the ref jumps in after Repiens uppercut to make vancouver look good,A unneccessary move by the ref{unfair actually].reminds me of those american refs, cheating all the time.

Ripper takes on the mongoloid "Shortweenie"...and clues him in just fine......Woof Woof!!! Free Bart powwow! I'd give a months pay to see Ripper take on Christina in Ottawa.......

Posted by DeboDaddy on December 27, 2009 at 09:02 PM

Honestly the most awkward looking fight I've ever seen. I guess since Stortini finally realizes he is no good with his fists, he decides to start throwin forearms and bows?? haha Good stuff. Slight edge to Rypien

Posted by SereneParadox on December 27, 2009 at 12:44 AM

Rypien wins but Stortini looks better than previous two fights.

Posted by Joe WestCoast on December 27, 2009 at 08:23 PM

Stortini is a typical goon like C.Orr etc. He is out of shape, no fighting skills and last but not least no hockey skills.

Posted by zacco1234 on December 27, 2009 at 02:53 AM

rypien won stortini punches were so bad he was punching with his forearms.

Posted by j_b x on December 27, 2009 at 07:54 AM

funny fight from Strortini

Posted by sundaygrundle on January 01, 2010 at 11:46 AM

Stortini just throwing forearms in this one. Rypien clear winner with those hammer to the head blows

Posted by Behn Wilson on December 27, 2009 at 04:04 AM

Stortini faired better than expected in this one, and, had he tried throwing actual punches, instead of fore-arm shivers... it might have ALMOST been considered a draw. Edge Rypien.

Posted by Siludin on December 27, 2009 at 02:57 AM

Rypien with the edge, and he seemed way more in control. Points to Stortini for not being totally clobbered.

Posted by infestedcut on December 27, 2009 at 06:57 AM

Lol... I think stortini needs some glasses because he doesn't know how to aim when he punches. So I have to give it to Rypien, because if you look at the fight near the end, Stortini kind of just gave up. And by the way, there shouldn't be an excuse for not beating a guy who is not even close to his own weight class.

Posted by stizzo on December 28, 2009 at 11:23 PM

Even with two late shots from Stortini - Rypien wins this one - good fighter this kid is with the smart defense and quick offence

Posted by JABUSHFSU on December 27, 2009 at 12:22 PM

i think someone should have told stortini who the light weight champion is

Posted by bostonrs555 on December 27, 2009 at 09:44 AM

At least Stortini won the face off?!?!?!!? Rypien out smarts the big dummy for the edge.... Stortini hardly landed anything!!!!! W Rypien

Posted by nighthawk walt on December 27, 2009 at 08:52 AM

Rypien was more effective with his punches, stortini with a lot of haymakers that did not land.edge to rypien.

Posted by bruins rule on December 27, 2009 at 07:43 AM

rypien gets the win in this fight.good showing by zack too.

Posted by Dave Brown HOF on December 27, 2009 at 05:16 PM

At least Scrotini didn't have to hang on for dear life again. What was with those forearms though? If that big ugly fucking jerkoff does that again, Ripper should grab him by his beard and then rip out his larynx. RR was only a goal away from The Gordie Howe last night. Beautiful pass on the Ehrhoff goal. Not too bad for a fourth line centre. Oh well, he'll probably get a goal or two in Calgary tonight. As for Sasky001TARD. Yes, Vancouver is still in Canada and no Hordi wasn't skating around scared of Bic Mac last night. You see since you never let facts get in the way of your comments(see the Weber/Kesler fight) let me let you in on a little secret....Big Mac doesn't play for Edmonton anymore but then again research and intelligence aren't really your strong suit are they? As for the guy who said that Rypien's going to break his forearm by blocking punches with it. Have you ever been in a fight or even trained for one before? Your nose, cheekbone, eye socket and jaw will break before your forearm will. And there's a reason why you're supposed to keep your hands up. Although quite rare, you might break a forearm with a kick and last time I checked these guys weren't throwing kicks. It may have happened somewhere but I have never seen a guy break his forearm from a punch before.

Posted by Towmater on December 27, 2009 at 01:41 AM

Rypien is proving himself to be one of the best technical fighters in the NHL, just not strong enough to throw the huge bombs

Posted by indoblazin on December 27, 2009 at 02:25 PM

Chalk another one up for Rypien. He did little damage to Stortini's zero damage and controlled the pace of the fight. Stortini also turtled up at the end there. Close decision to Rypien.

Posted by slavv on December 27, 2009 at 04:21 PM

Rypien is now 3-0 against Stortini, who thinks he is better than he is. Linesmen recognized that Stortini was done and decided to save him...

Posted by bobbylou64 on December 27, 2009 at 04:20 PM

What's with the forearm blows? Stortini really has to be one of the only fighters in the league who can't fight at all. I think he was tired of getting beaten up by Rypien and decided to go for a new tactic...

Posted by Velds on December 28, 2009 at 09:54 PM

Have to give it to Rypien based on weight difference. Any posts on here saying Stortini won or it was a draw, go fight someone 30-40 lbs heavier than you. Do you understand how hard it is to fight a guy who SHOULD be able to throw you around? Join a boxing club and fight a guy 20 lbs more than you. Even though they are on skates; holding someones jersey who is 30 lbs less than you gives you an advantage. Was a very close fight and I only give it to Rypien because of the weight difference. Reach and weight/strength is a huge advantage.

Posted by Lemon on January 02, 2010 at 02:31 PM

alright fight, ripper gets the decision based on quality of punches landed vs the stortini forearms. The rypien uppercuts decided it for me.

Posted by EDDUBBS on December 27, 2009 at 04:08 AM

Versatility wins for Rypien. He can fight you left or right handed. Seems to me Storini felt that he would take less punches by forcing Rypien to fight left handed. Storini needs to learn how to box and fight or he'll NEVE gain any respect or wins....

Posted by Bloodbank on December 29, 2009 at 12:41 PM

Better showing by Stortini but throwing SOURAY forearms still won't get it done. Rypper defending well and does enough to get the edge.

Posted by dorobo on December 27, 2009 at 12:41 AM

Unanimous decision for Rypien, way more shots landed. Though Stortini kindda looked better on this one.. kindda :P

draw my a$$...Rypien won hands down. Zack should learn how to punch...i mean what was he trying to do? punch w/ his forearm??? i have a suggestion for zack...dun fight or hire rypien's father as your coach.

Posted by straightup on December 28, 2009 at 12:12 AM

It was the right time for Stortini to fight, and his team got a brief lift out of it so good for him. Hate those elbows, WTF is that, but it's better than his old hugging routine. Rypien was the only one who landed any punches of note so he gets the win.

Posted by SABREHATRED on December 27, 2009 at 11:40 AM

Stortini loses to Rypien and buffalo is home to the open sewer system!!!!

Posted by Milocco on December 27, 2009 at 01:18 AM

Pretty good fight. Rypien barely gets the win here vvs. the tree hugger.

stortini is rypiens bitch !!!!!!!!!

Posted by kurtenbach on December 27, 2009 at 08:44 AM

Stortini can't figure out the Ripper - how to get around the left forearm block or his fear of the left hook. Ripper's left jab was effective. He makes Stortini look like a big guy punching under his weight. WOW!

Posted by mh34444 on December 27, 2009 at 06:09 AM

I like watching Rypien scrap, his style will end up changing fighting just like rabbit punching did when it became popular. You can see the boxing background in his technique and few, if any, other fighters use it --- jab, jab, defend, wait for the quality shot and make it sting. His jabs probably feel like bombs that come from other middleweights. The jab at 0:44 is hard to see, but the fans up close sure noticed it, lightening fast and slowed Stortini down a bit.

Posted by rpw1 on December 27, 2009 at 02:08 AM

As usual, Mrs. Stortini aka marinermoose "poo" picks his "dream lover" above all others. Mrs. Stortini you are such a homer it is laughable. Rypien wins.

Posted by tyrone on December 27, 2009 at 10:00 PM

Rip Van winkle continues to impress me. On the flip side, Storweenie conitnues to suck hind tit.

Posted by Sox on December 27, 2009 at 09:21 AM

Love the guys in the lycra suits that sit by the Opposition penalty box......quality. Win for Ripper, established fighters dont know how to fight him, they aren;t used to people that block, take their time and pick punches. I think that is why he is so effective against so many heavy weights. His style is so Unorthodox (in hockey terms anyway). Sox

Posted by SlaveTrader on December 27, 2009 at 06:03 PM

Sharpeye is a douche,., how can you say rypien is pulling "bitch moves" whens hes constantly fighting out of his weight class. We all feel sorry for you Oiler fans, but you all need to get your heads outta your asses and stop voting for HuggyBear for F*#@ Sakes.

Posted by jscore08 on January 05, 2010 at 11:55 PM

umm...stortini is a joke in this fight. this was embarassing. even if it wasn't an absolute slaughter by rypien he's got a definite win for not fighting like a girl. storini has the size, a number of fights under his belt, and he's still throwing them like crosby. what a clown. rypien by a long shot.

Posted by Susdy22 on December 27, 2009 at 01:24 AM

Stortini is out of shape and would have not lasted if the fight continued. Rypien clobbered Stortini like a baby seal at the end. Oilers need a new tough guy because whenever these two fight Rypien always seems to win.

Posted by drakoswolf on December 27, 2009 at 03:45 AM

Closest fight between these two as of yet. Ryp is a great fighter, and can definitely hold his own against the best in the league.

Posted by Budwiper on December 27, 2009 at 11:44 PM

Amazing how quick Rypien is...gets off 3 punches to Stortinis 1.....Rypiens arm bar is pretty effective......alot of punches connected but i give the slight edge to Rypien...GOOD FIGHT!!!!!!

Posted by PAYDAY on December 27, 2009 at 09:52 AM

Can't stand him but I give the edge to Stortini. Landed the most forearms. Rypien didn't really land much.

Posted by hal29 on December 27, 2009 at 10:28 PM

you seriously can't give that win to rypien, come on are serious??? yeah rypien blocked the whole fight but didn't block as many as everyone must think. stortini definetly snuck some in and rypien didn't land anything. he was to busy trying to block the punches stortini was landing. this site is just getting stupid now, people are voting just on aname and not a fight, everyone thinks rypien is a god in fighting and he definetly not. you know he is the only player that knows how to box its just other guys rather fight then just block... look up the youtube videos of lucic boxing and see how he does, i'm pretty sure he could hand rypien his ass. just watch lucic box and i believe it was for the canadien junior olympics. i would like to see those to scrap, atleast we will have lucic throwing punches.. i give the edge to stortini. rypien is a good fighter but not as good as everyone make him out to be..everyone is on his kock slavetrader those are bitch moves. pullin the helmet down to block your forehead and just stand there and block. i hate stortini and the oilers but i hate rypiens fighting tactics even more. yeah rypien take on bigger guys but all he does is block. and come look at the guys he fights. hal gill. you cn't be serious. no ledgit heavies. now who is the douche how could you even put up a name like slavetrader you should be banned just for that name. asshole...rypien is nothing like stan jonathan not even in the same league...pj stock in my eyes is the only to ever come close to jonathan award. he focused on fighting and not blocking. i think stan would be offended for real

Posted by GSP09 on December 27, 2009 at 10:40 AM

Stortini with the win , fan of neither players or team.

Posted by shuckthefarks on December 30, 2009 at 08:04 AM

Little Ripper seemed to want some glue to keep his helmet on. Pretty chicken sh**. Probably the best showing for Stortini this year...for what that's worth.

Posted by norrek on December 27, 2009 at 08:23 AM

i don't like stortini but it was a clear win. all Rypien did was try and block punches

Posted by Oil Can Henry on December 27, 2009 at 01:46 AM

Stortini actually, did better than most others against Rypien - but the linesmen bailed him out in this one - they broke-it-up too, early,...WAY too, early - he's lucky he comes-away with a draw.

Posted by samtheman on December 27, 2009 at 08:38 AM

That was a strange looking hockey fight. Gave it a draw because both threw awkward looking punches and I didn't see a solid shot landed by either. The highlight of this clip is the Green Man sitting next to Stortini in the box at the end!

Posted by trubba on December 27, 2009 at 11:34 AM

Stortini must have an injured hand or he was trying to avoid hitting Rypiens' elbow pad. Did Rypien even throw a punch? Also Rypien adjusts his helmet to protect himself for all you visor haters..eventually someone will stop trying to punch Rypien in the face and start aiming for that forearm. I predict he goes out with a broken wrist before the season ends.I don't know who I hate more the Oilers or Canucks.Draw with Stortini throwing the most'punches'.

Posted by teebo on December 27, 2009 at 01:57 AM

How does ANYBODY give a W to Stortini??? It's not even a draw. Clear win for Rypien.

Give Stortini the edge in a close one.

Posted by BigBadBruins68 on March 22, 2010 at 08:43 PM

Rypien by decision. Stortini needs a fighter like Rypien to bring out the best in him. Here's hoping this series has many more installments.

Posted by muskokadangler on December 28, 2009 at 03:02 PM

I am giving it to the Ripper on Scored points!!!!! Stortini faired better in this showing then he did in the other two!! Hey sharp eye or should I say Blind IDIOT........Stortini was throwin Forarms and elbows....Smart move to protect the head!!!! The ripper is one of the best and smartest fighters out there, also he is completely undersized. Do you suggest that Ripper should "BLOCK "those shots with his Face????And not doing it is a BITCH move???Are you suggesting that Rypien does not "GO AT IT" with the heavies and win BIG????Think about what you write before you write it....Its better for people to think you are an IDIOT then to write things down>>>.......AND REMOVE ALL DOUBT!!!!!

Posted by djh700 on July 02, 2010 at 11:24 PM

Stortini is a b*tch. weak as forearms, then at the end he turtles.

Posted by Rick16 on December 27, 2009 at 12:10 AM

agree with "rugby"... stortini wasnt getting clocked with shots like the last two but he definitely got exhausted from having all his shots blocked. he was also throwing some questionable forearm shots that didn't impress me. he's lucky the fight ended when it did because rypien was coming on... win rypien

Posted by piney on December 28, 2009 at 06:34 PM

very entertaining bout. win Rypien. was Stortini blocking or covering up at the end??

Posted by PuckmaninMN on December 27, 2009 at 08:38 AM

Rypien with another win. Now, if you scored soley on forearm smashes, you'd have to pick Storweini.

Posted by Bensonator27 on December 27, 2009 at 03:47 PM

Stortini didnt land any punches. Rypien landed all of his. You can see this cause the closest people in the crowd are reacting to them.

Terrific fight both guys!!! Rypien continues to show why he is the best technical fighter since Darren Langdon. Love his block and pop jab he uses. Also notice how he pushes his helmet over his forehead at the :48 mark for added protection. Great to see Stortini actually trade punches as well. Loved him trying to blast through Rypien's blocks with some major forearms. This fight had a bit of everything. Rypien gets the win in the fight, Stortini gets serious credit and we get one helluva entertaining scrap!!

I bash the guy just as much as anyone, but Stortini wins here.

Storini with a clear win, more active. Rypien the most overrated fighterin the NHL. Are we suppossed to be impressed when he holds his left hand by his ear like a boxer? I cannot wait till he fight some one like Asham- Downey- Vandermeer, guys that can throw the left hand...

Rypien keeps pulling his helmet down to protect his forehead and has that arm up "blocking". Bitch moves. Stand back and throw 'em. Say what you want about Stortini, but at least he goes at it.

Obviously Stortini is one of, if not THE most hated fighter by those on this site. And with that, comes him being seriously under-rated. In this scrap, Zack AT LEAST gets a draw, but because pretty much everyone cries and whines about his fighting style, they'll mostly vote a Rypien win. It's ridiculous, and it's completely inaccurate, but that's how it goes on this site. EDGE ZACK to anyone who actually watches this fight objectively.
