Nothing real solid... mostly head slips.

Posted by HPK_C5 on October 17, 2009 at 04:50 PM

Draw, but Rypien was better and more aggressive.

Posted by SUTHED on October 17, 2009 at 01:36 AM

Prust tied down at the front this time so Rypien didn't jeresy him with the helmet stuck at his face. These guys are the toughest in the league for their size. They will see each other a few more times this year and they'll be close scraps.

Posted by plubber on October 27, 2009 at 12:47 AM

It has to suck getting spanked, at home, again and again, by smaller guys. Keep trying Prust.

Win to the Ripper..... The Flamer gets put out!!!!

Posted by Towmater on October 17, 2009 at 12:00 AM

Win Rypien, with a couple dirty elbows thrown in there, credit Prust for staying up and throwing.

Posted by Truk on October 17, 2009 at 04:40 PM

Prust did alot better than I thought he would. Rypien didn't get his usual jump but gets the win.

Posted by straightup on October 23, 2009 at 07:43 PM

Prust did pretty well against a more skilled fighter. Still gave it to Rypien on punch count.

Posted by piney on October 23, 2009 at 06:21 AM

i'm becoming a Rypien fan. clear win

Posted by lovejoy on October 19, 2009 at 02:14 AM

good scrap. both guys throwing but Rypien landed better shots.

Posted by omorales on October 17, 2009 at 12:05 AM

Rypien is a tough lil dude, gets the W

Posted by dfane45 on January 08, 2010 at 02:26 PM

Looks like Eddie Hospidar Little fiesty energizer bunny

Posted by no123one on November 02, 2009 at 08:50 PM

Rypien is a modern day Wendel Clark. Rypien FTW.

Posted by MottHockey30 on November 08, 2009 at 05:26 AM

Prust is the most inconsistent fighter ever.

Posted by SrqWingNut on October 16, 2009 at 11:53 PM

Good scrap. Rypien gets the win.

Posted by Scouser on October 17, 2009 at 10:06 AM

Closer than their last one but Rypien still gets the win IMO.

Posted by SABREHATRED on October 17, 2009 at 10:08 AM

Nice lip piercing, Flame......

Posted by LAKings on October 17, 2009 at 10:16 AM

Rick Rypien is climbing up the middleweight ladder.

Posted by sparkynce on October 19, 2009 at 11:53 AM

Does this mean Prust is going to be third time lucky? Rypien wins.

Posted by nuke34 on October 16, 2009 at 11:49 PM

Rypien lands a ton and gets the win but unlike Dion Phaneuf, Prust takes action after his hits.

Posted by probie83 on October 17, 2009 at 04:44 PM

I'd love to see Rypien vs Clarkson theyre both really smart fighters.

Posted by Dave Brown HOF on October 17, 2009 at 01:38 PM

Easy win Rypien. At least Prust didn't need the linesman to save him like the last time these two fought and he got up after being knocked down by one of Rippers left hands. Not too sure what you guys are talking about when you say that Prust was at the end of his shift. He came off the bench which was closest to the Vancouver goal, threw a late hit on that pussy Mitchell behind the Nucks net and then him a Rypien started fighting. If he can't take a 12 second shift without being tired and then having to fight a guy who was himself already out on the ice then he shouldn't be in the NHL, or in any league for that matter. Quit with the excuses. I can see how you Flamers fans would be worried about a change in momentum with a 5 goal lead after that dibacle in Chicago the other night. I hope some of you hung yourself after that game. As for Bruiseyoureye, do you even watch hockey? You gave the fight an easy win for Prust??? Even the Calgary homers knew that Prust lost that fight. And then you proceed to call him a spot picker. Get your head out of your arse dude. The last thing that Rypien is, is a spot picker. If he was a spot picker then he would have went after one of the Flamers skill players and not one of their so-called tough guys. Who would you rather have him fight jackass? Nigel Dawes maybe because there almost the same size.

Posted by Blade88 on October 17, 2009 at 01:03 AM

Rypien with the decision

Posted by basil73 on October 19, 2009 at 09:21 AM

Great boxing skills for Rypien, nice range of punches and good defense. This guy can def be considered in the top 3 of the middleweights in the league. That being said, win for RR over a decent fighter.

Posted by tattooedkingpin on October 17, 2009 at 10:01 PM

Good fight. Rypien was a little animal in that one. Prust wasnt too shabby either. Slight edge to Rypien

Posted by moneybags on October 17, 2009 at 12:54 AM

i like this guy ripper .gets the win ,,,,,again

Posted by MashnBangers on October 17, 2009 at 12:34 AM

Once again Ripper takes it too Prust, I guess he just didn't learn from last year after he really worked over by the much smaller Rypien. At least this time Prust got a couple shots close. Easy win Rick Rypien

Posted by slavv on October 19, 2009 at 09:47 PM

Rypien dominated. Looked very impressive...has very good technique.

Posted by Rypienrocks on March 14, 2010 at 05:01 PM

Ryp picks someone his own size and gets the edge simply cuz of more punches landed.........some early ones at the start then some haymakers in the middle.......Prust is definetly a tough customer though

Posted by Togalthorpe on October 17, 2009 at 01:39 AM

Rypien's blocks are sweet. This guy is legit

Posted by DARCY T on November 07, 2009 at 01:21 PM

narrow win by rypien

Posted by Alan W on October 17, 2009 at 12:16 AM

Rypien dominated the fight although Prust was game and ready to fight. Good bout.

Posted by Maxwerm on October 19, 2009 at 11:28 AM

"What does it matter if it is a clean hit? noyone wants to see someone on their team get layed out " What he said. Clean, dirty . . . who cares? The name of the game is intimidation and when someone gets hammered like that, if you can send a message, next time maybe the hit isn't so hard. It's not like he sucker punched him or clobbered him over the head with a stick - Prust accepted the invitation. Edge Rypien with a strong showing from Prust.

Posted by bgbdbrew70 on March 14, 2010 at 04:01 PM

great bout rypien with a slight edge

Posted by bruins rule on October 17, 2009 at 01:11 PM

rypien gets the win in this fight.

Posted by MNHaymaker on October 25, 2009 at 01:01 AM

Good fight, and game effort by both, but edge has to go to Rypien.

Posted by triple deke on October 17, 2009 at 12:41 AM

Southpaw takes it again. Good job by Prust for getting back on his feet.

Posted by Fighttt on October 17, 2009 at 12:37 AM

I'm giving this fight to Rypien.

Posted by Dorse15 on October 18, 2009 at 10:14 PM

Did Prust not learn his lesson last year? Win Rypien

Posted by neoned on February 19, 2012 at 12:47 AM

RIP RYP. We sure could use you this season.

Posted by slshbleed on October 17, 2009 at 09:16 AM

Prust tries to get the drop on Rypien, but he misses with the quick one. When I was a kid, the crusty, old dude that taught boxing in PE said, " Don't drop your hands. Throw a punch and bring your hands back to your face to protect against the counter punch" just like Rypper did at the end of the fight!

Posted by Bloodbank on October 17, 2009 at 06:33 PM

Easy win for Rypper. Several KDs in this one, credit(?) Prust for getting back up from each to take some more punishment.

Posted by 91673 on October 17, 2009 at 12:10 AM

Definate win Rypien. Hell of a fight, though.

Posted by Puck Rock on December 11, 2009 at 01:27 PM

Great bout, good win for Ryp. Extra points for Prust for second fight in the game.

Posted by vangodard28 on February 18, 2012 at 11:42 PM

More shots for Rypien against another great fighter in Prust. Another Rypien victory.

Posted by Jerjer on April 24, 2010 at 01:49 AM

Rypien owned him

Posted by bruiseyoureye on October 17, 2009 at 11:52 AM

win to prust....easy win for prust. get off rypien's nuts......when is rypien gonna actually fight someone of a tough caliber......rypien picks his spots like a cheap old dirty sock. rypien will get his clock cleaned when he actually fights a legitimate tough guy.

Posted by tculbertson on October 17, 2009 at 12:34 AM

The win to Prust

Posted by crowdaddy on October 17, 2009 at 11:19 AM

prust near end of a shift, rypien at start. 2 best middleweights in league.

Posted by tomales2 on October 17, 2009 at 09:34 AM

Same old crap following a clean hit. Win for the guy everyone has a thing for

Posted by STL13 on October 20, 2009 at 11:46 PM

I expected for people to vote it a little closer than this.....right now it's: 84.2% Rypien 11.3% Draw 4.5% Prust I chose Rypien but not by much.....not lopsided like other Rypien fights.

Posted by booterbuilder on October 17, 2009 at 01:22 PM

Of course everyone loves Rypien, he's the best fighter out there!

Posted by PigIron on October 19, 2009 at 01:10 PM

Good fight for both. I gave the W to Rypien - but if they go again it could go either way.

Posted by claire alexande on October 17, 2009 at 12:19 PM

Win to Rypien but he knew he was in a fight and Prust obviously learned from the last time they met. All that mattered was that he showed up and didn't allow Rypien to deliver a potentially momentum-shifting defeat. As usual, Willie Bitchell punks out after Prust wallops him with a clean hit. Rypien will get his one day...he and Vigneault won't always be able to choose a guy coming off a hard shift.

Posted by PuckmaninMN on October 18, 2009 at 09:56 AM

Nice win for Rypien. He certainly has stepped it up a notch so far this year. However, that hit was clean, albeit a bit late, and Willie should be defending himself.

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on March 08, 2015 at 12:48 AM

Rypien tattooed Prust!

Posted by Bahjay on October 17, 2009 at 06:58 PM

Rypien didn't even see the hit on Mitchell as he was busy clearing the puck from the zone.. he just wanted to end Prust's undefeated start to the season, and boy did he ever!

Posted by azjim on October 17, 2009 at 03:52 AM

I'm looking forward to Rypien going with McGrattan, to see how big a guy he can take. His decent defense will help him with all the biggies.

Posted by chad420 on October 18, 2009 at 07:56 PM

win the ripper...prust much better this time around....a good 7

Posted by bam932 on October 17, 2009 at 10:45 AM

Rypien retains the middleweight crown by decision ... but again a clean hit and somebody jumps gets jumped - when did the NHL become a no-contact league???

Posted by tiburon4 on October 17, 2009 at 11:21 PM

Kinda even at first, but Rypien got it later with more punch.

Posted by BritishRedWing on October 17, 2009 at 06:06 PM

Win Rypien, barely. Two tough customers, for sure. Rypien overreacted to the hit. Mitchell is a big boy, and as the announcer pointed out, he "thought" of doing something, but obviously didn't want to. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the fighting, but the hit was clean. Just my two cents.

Posted by goob on October 18, 2009 at 08:23 AM

those guys r small but they can go i gave it to rypien....

Posted by Richterfan on October 17, 2009 at 02:19 PM

Rypien is quick and precise with his punches! Beats a very good fighter in Prust here. Excellent scrap

Posted by rocky7482 on October 17, 2009 at 06:49 AM

Great scrap between 2 of the best welterweights in the league. Rypien with the win. Why can't anyone give a guy a clean hit anymore without having to drop the gloves immediately after the hit? Come on guys, it wasn't a dirty hit.

Posted by TBLightningGuru on October 30, 2009 at 04:01 PM

DID YOU SEE THAT? PRUST HOLDS RYPIENS NOSE FOR A SPLIT SECOND! TRYING TO KEEP HIM FROM BREATHING

Posted by V_Nucks on October 18, 2009 at 04:42 PM

What does it matter if it is a clean hit? noyone wants to see someone on their team get layed out

Posted by BigBadBruins68 on October 17, 2009 at 12:28 AM

And the Rypping Train just keeps chugging along. Where will it stop next?

Posted by old55guy on October 17, 2009 at 05:08 PM

guys take offence to teamates getting hit, what's so wrong with that?...clean or dirty a good beating may sway the guys decision to do it again, Rypien wins this one.

Posted by CNeelyFan on October 19, 2009 at 11:41 PM

Prust had some good hits, but I think Rypien had him from the get go. Looked like Prust missed with his first haymaker he tried and Rypien unloaded on him for the mistake. Good fight all around though, but gotta give it to Rypien.

Posted by Sweeney2112 on October 17, 2009 at 04:32 PM

pretty close in my eyes
