Dirty play by Torres, but at least he's willing to deal with it. Murray was a little wild but i think that was emotions due to the hit on his teammate. Murray ends with a nice upper-cut. Pretty good fight.

Spirited fight at the start but no damage done by either.

Posted by Nezky on October 05, 2007 at 05:48 AM

Tried to knee, got served by fist...

Posted by Blazer Q on October 05, 2007 at 01:12 PM

how the hell do you give an instigator on that?

Posted by barnibizer on October 05, 2007 at 06:53 AM

I love these types of scraps...am not sure why 1 comment has it down as a crap fight. It had energy and spark....and revenge for the knee. I really like Torres as a player...will hit and fight. Dont like knees, but its so easy to instinctively stick out a knee as some1 skates past. Ok, not many punches landed, i think a few did but camera angles didnt help. Think Murray catches Torres at the end. These 2 were throwing tho and the refs didnt jump in 2 early. A draw, but i liked this 1, wild swings!!

Not a bad fight

Cheap shot artists like Torres and Ottawa's Neil need to be taken out repeatedly by the real tough guys in the NHL.

Posted by shane0mack on October 05, 2007 at 11:06 AM

how much bigger is murray than torres?

Posted by Devilsdude on October 06, 2007 at 01:26 PM

It was a draw and I'm only saying that because murray had his head in the ice. Aside from that torres got owned

Posted by Juha82 on October 06, 2007 at 12:56 PM

Torres did a good job against better opponent. Murray used an uppercuts, but hard to say did he landed a punch. Torres didn't land his attempts. Really good energy in this short scrap. Murray gets on top of Torres. A draw, maybe slight edge Murray. But i pick a draw for the outcome.

Good fight, both men more then willing to go, best fight of the year so far....

Posted by Captain Crunch28 on October 06, 2007 at 01:22 PM

Doug Murray vs Raffi Torres Torres attempts a hit on Mitchell, hitting his knees, and Murray goes right after Torres and they drop the gloves. They both fall to the ice as soon as they drop their gloves, but get back up and begin to scrap. Torres gets it going with some rights, and Murray responds with a few solid rights of his own. Murray falls to the ice again, but manages to get back up before the linesmen can intervene. Torres throws a few more rights, as does Murray, knocking Torres off balance. Torres then falls to the ice with Murray on top and the linesmen step in.

great fight

Posted by chris_mcallister on October 05, 2007 at 05:54 PM

win torres, crappy fight.

Posted by Mike Kole on October 05, 2007 at 07:53 AM

As a Sharks fan, I really like that Murray went after Torres right away. But crap fight because Murray spent as much time on the ice as he did squared up with Torres. He needs to work on his balance in a bad way. Nothing meaningful landed.

Too quick

Posted by Cendro on November 02, 2007 at 01:17 PM

Cheap shot by Torres to ignite the fight, seemed like neither guy ever got control of themselves during it, just flailing wildly.

Posted by Sasky001 on October 08, 2007 at 11:24 PM

Tores surprised me by standing up for himself after the cheap knee. This Murray guy is a nobody.

Posted by Sukoshi84 on October 05, 2007 at 11:02 AM

raff gives up 3.5inches and about 30lbs but he pulled murray all around the ice, murry only landed clean 2 times at the end but they didnt look like hard shots.....meanwhile raff landed about 7 body shots plus a few rights his head

Posted by d_sabre on October 05, 2007 at 03:50 AM

Very close fight. Some people would have given Murray the nod for the takedown, but I don't factor in takedowns as much as some other poeple.

Posted by Panther_66 on October 06, 2007 at 10:25 AM

Very Nice.

Posted by SharkGoal on October 21, 2007 at 04:48 AM

kinda wild with no real blows.....Shows how huge Murray is

Posted by red16 on October 05, 2007 at 10:40 PM

Torres had him down twice and he still got cracked in the end. with a crap knee from Torres he deserved to have his ass handed to him, but it didn't happen. Great job to Murray for stepping up for his team.

Posted by buddha on October 05, 2007 at 11:43 AM

Cheap trip that could have hurt someone by Torres. Murray did a good job defending his teammate.

Posted by briansays on October 05, 2007 at 06:38 PM

no really good hits.. except murrays uppercut

Posted by xJamesx on October 08, 2007 at 11:43 PM

Murray was caught off balance for a lot of the fight, but held his own against Torres. I say if he had his legs under him Torres would not have had a chance.

Posted by Couturelover39 on January 01, 2012 at 07:24 PM

Douglas Murray clearly won this fight.

Posted by Scott4 on October 05, 2007 at 01:02 PM

Draw in good fight. Torres play dirty..next Marchment...?

Posted by mikebflorida on October 06, 2007 at 10:44 AM

This is how a knee on knee hit should be dealt with. Get rid of the frickin instigator! Torres got what he deserved and Murray should be penalized for it!

Posted by tristan16 on October 05, 2007 at 11:33 AM

Doug was bit surprize. Torres lost at the end.

Posted by loganh222 on October 05, 2007 at 05:45 PM

murray clearly won i am not a fan of either but it was obvious. but great fite

Posted by Chaotic8 on October 05, 2007 at 02:26 PM

Torres is a punk with nothing but cheap shots. Good lookin out by Murray and a lot of determination to keep on throwing bombs.

Posted by stevkrause on October 05, 2007 at 10:16 AM

Good scrap, good heart and gotta LOVE Murray standing up for his teammate after a cheap knee-to-knee signature Raffi Torres move...

Posted by dwood16 on October 06, 2007 at 02:47 AM

Murray caught him good at the end

Posted by madrobber23 on October 08, 2007 at 06:17 PM

I liked the fact that Murray protected his teammate after a dangerous hit by Torres. That type of attitude is what makes hockey such a great sport.

Posted by hncreature on October 05, 2007 at 08:03 PM

More dancing than fighting...kinda weak

Posted by luckysod04 on October 08, 2007 at 01:00 AM

I'm gonna hafta go with a draw here. I despise Torres with all my being, and how the hell did Murray get an instigator for that? Screwed up officiating in Edmonton, as usual.

Posted by omgitslafferty on October 11, 2007 at 03:57 PM

Props to murray for sticking up for his linemate. torres shows why he and edmonton have no class at all, as he takes out mitchell with a knee cuz he wuz bout to get beat. then, after murray fell, torres takes cheap shots at murray while murray wuz down on the ice.

Posted by SCOTTSO on October 05, 2007 at 05:11 AM

i dont think any punches landed ,if they did it was the last one by murray, crap fight " draw "

Posted by OilrsSuk on February 01, 2008 at 03:07 PM

Torres didn't connect any good punches, only to the body. Torres did throw Murray around, but that don't count for squat....Murray seemed to get more quality head shots. Decision - Murray.

Posted by Spon on October 08, 2007 at 04:43 PM

Murray was standing up for his teammate who Torres cheap shot Knee'd otherwise it wasn't that good of a fight.

Posted by shrk33 on October 06, 2007 at 04:28 PM

I'm sure the Sharks remember Torres's hit on Michalek in the 06 playoffs, Good job to Murray for sticking up for Mitchell after the cheap hit by Torres. Murray struggled to stay on his skates, which was a good thing for Torres. Murray is a strong kid, still getting his feet wet with his fists.

Posted by nicdawg29 on October 05, 2007 at 08:57 AM

no one really got settled for the fight, more like a wrestling match. both dudes got in a couple shots.

Posted by rocky7482 on October 18, 2007 at 08:28 PM

Cheap shot artist Torres lucked out on this one....horseshoes all over the place.....Murray will probably go for a rematch, but he'll have to get thorugh Stortini or JFJ before he can get at Torres, who will probably turtle if it comes down to that....
