Marty's the man! He's as strong as a bull and it showed here against a guy who loses a lot of fights.

Lapointe had the advantage early . Stortini started to cnnect with the better punches and it looks like Marty realizes this and takes him down. I give the win to Stortini. If this was a rassln match Marty would be the winner.

Will you damn idiots stop scoring these fights like a UFC bout??? "Lapointe pulls Stortini down to the ice, yay he wins" DF's DRAW

Meh... As an Oiler fan I can say Stortini is not the heavyweight I thought he was.

Posted by dcmac on April 02, 2007 at 05:14 PM

Have to say draw or very slight edge to Lapointe.

Posted by goodprankfarva on April 02, 2007 at 12:10 AM

close fight IMO. Both landed shots. Would like to see them go again sometime.

Posted by shane0mack on April 05, 2007 at 12:16 AM

both got in some good punches - stortini a couple of haymakers, but too close to call as lapointe more than held his own

Posted by Juha82 on February 18, 2010 at 03:53 AM

Solid fight here. DRAW, both landed about same amount

Lapoint is a tough scrappy player, I give him a slight win in this one

Lapointe is an underrated fighter, he had to step up after they sent down Koci. Hawks suck though, I can't wait till the Ruutu, Toews, Havlat line. The Hawks need Cherepanov like a fat person needs a doughnut

edge lap!!!!!

Posted by punchy12 on April 04, 2007 at 12:16 PM

Stortini, a few good knocks at the end. Good to see Lapointe back into it, still throws a mean right hand. Lapointe won this one although it was close. I didn't like the takedown at the end, although if he didn't do it, Marty probably would have lost the fight.

Posted by FyrKyllr on April 02, 2007 at 11:52 AM

Close but Lapointe had the better first half with a close second half.

I figured LaPointe was getting a little long in the tooth for this kind of thing but shows he can still dish it out. Huge size advantage for Stortini but Marty has always had a rep for being super strong for his size and it showed with the solid punches and take down of a much bigger opponent. Stortini is not a very good fighter in my opinion.

Not a bad fight I expected Stortini to take this one but didn't, I don't think it was a trip at the end its just the point that there is no doubt that Lapointe is the physically strongest player in the NHL bar none.

Pretty good fight by both win Lapointe. He just kept more active through the entire fight unlike Stortini who got a going here and there but not a lot of damage done either way.

Posted by UnderdogDMG on April 04, 2007 at 03:07 PM

Lapointe is truly missed in Detroit just for this kind of toughness. Gave up some size physically, But not when it comes to effort. Martin gets the nod. good fight.

Lapointe came right out of the gun with some very nice headshots. Towards the end, Stortini surprised me with his little comeback, as short as it lasted though. A good fight all-around.

Posted by Boogaard_Peters on September 08, 2007 at 01:17 PM

both players unloaded but lapointe gains a slight advantage vbased on the early punches.

Posted by shre0 on April 01, 2007 at 11:58 PM

lapointe.. ouch lol nice comeback by stortini.. mad it close but i give it to lapointe

Posted by thesaint22 on April 02, 2007 at 08:47 PM

Win Martin Lapoint.

Posted by midmusq on April 02, 2007 at 05:36 AM

Lapointe has always been a tough (and overpaid) customer.

Posted by mailman1194 on April 02, 2007 at 08:56 AM

Lapointe seemed to be getting the better of Stortini. Then, Stortini landed that upper-cut, which slowed Lapointe down and made him go for the takedown. In the video, there appeared to be quite a size difference between the two. Props for Lapointe going with the bigger guy.

Posted by Icanstillgo on April 02, 2007 at 04:12 PM

You gotta love how Lapointe just bee-lined for Sortini...like they both had an appointment for the scrap.

Posted by bronx1981 on April 02, 2007 at 06:05 PM

Real good fight. Old guy still got it. He won the first 3/4 of the fight. And got the takedown.

Posted by boycew39 on April 02, 2007 at 04:04 PM

I'm giving the win to Lapointe because he landed a few more shots and was on top when they went down at the end but it was nice to see Stortini actually throw a few punches instead of just trying to hug the other guy to death like he normally does. Good scrap.

Posted by ckm3028 on April 02, 2007 at 01:49 PM

Good scrap. Lapointe had the early edge but Stortini got in a couple of good ones that landed flush. Slight win to Stortini.

Posted by Jordybats99 on December 25, 2016 at 08:39 PM

Good fight. Win Stortini.

Posted by Eric Godard vs. on April 02, 2007 at 04:07 PM

zak almost won one!! oilers suck and im not just saying that because i hate them. they really do suck!!! hahahahaha go flames ?????are you crazy willywink, lapointe strongest player in the nhl??????? you need to watch more hockey before you can say anything at all .Thats like saying stortini is the best fighter in the nhl. Your a real funny guy willy

Posted by pryal74 on April 04, 2007 at 05:23 AM

Martin Lapointe? Garbage! He won't fight heavyweights and he does the lamest Mick Vukota, Kevin Maguire move, the old grab the pant leg and put em to the ice move when he's in trouble. Someone outta be fired for making this bum a captain. I'm so happy he's not in Detroit. You think he would have learned at least SOMETHING about fighting from Kocur OR McCarty. Just when Stortini's going to keep pounding on him Marty pulls the pant leg. BOOOOO!! -Jim

Stortini finished strong Was that a trip at the end?
