The voting on this site is hysterically ignorant. For anyone questioning the REAL outcome of this fight, tell me who you'd rather be after this skirmish: McQuaid controls most of the fight with hard body punches, but Nystrom hits McQuaid with two MONSTROUS blows to the kisser. McQuaid immediately scurries to the locker room for repairs afterwards. So, which guy would YOU prefer to be after this fight? Right. I thought so. Now we know who won the fight.

Thanks for the early Christmas present boys... as McQuaid goes looking for it and Nystrom obliges resulting in one of nastiest exchanges of year McQuaid and his size-reach advantage with the eventual win... but Nystrom easily lands the best punch(es) in this "swinging for the fences" classic Happy holidays to one and all and to all a good "fight" for 2014

Posted by Lapointe20 on December 23, 2013 at 11:43 PM

Gained a new level of respect for Nystrom. Protected himself well, and landed the two best shots. McQuaid was the busier of the pair, but will need twice the Excedrin manana. Win Nystom, 8

Posted by Big_Fat_Dan on December 24, 2013 at 01:50 AM

All McQuaid but the best punch goes to the gutsy Nystrom, McQuaid needed repairs so for that reason I'm going draw.

Posted by J.R. Abel on December 25, 2013 at 12:42 AM

Can't give it to Nystrom with those 2 bombs that landed flush because McQuaid still controlled much of the fight. But McQuaid didn't do anything significant. Draw in my book. Although I'm sure everyone in Boston will object.

Posted by HchVegasNHL57 on December 24, 2013 at 07:59 AM

So much to like about this fight. Props to nystrom for dropping em with a bigger guy after he got earholed by glass a month or so ago. So glad mcQ is back first shift fight he's the guy you would love to have on your team. As for the fight, mcQ early and late nystrom evened it up with a bomb in the middle but it only seemed to make Quaider mad. Bloke is nuts. McQ gets the win on points but it was close. Great tilt. 8.

Posted by jkaise on December 25, 2013 at 12:07 AM

I can see how some gave it to McQuaid but I've got to go with Nystrom. He picked his shots, got in some GREAT punches and weathered the storm. KingofGoons assessment is pretty spot on: I'd rather have been Nystrom at the end of that bout.

Posted by pinchy on December 24, 2013 at 09:13 AM

I for one am sick of hearing about the homer announcers, every F"N team has them, who likes to hear "Joe blowtheleafs" or Dennis "Ottawa never does anything wrong" Potvin , turn the f'n volume off if you don't like them, now that I have said my rant...Mcquaid with the win..

Posted by buzzgun2000 on December 24, 2013 at 02:51 AM

I am also a little confused by the voting totals here. Is this another job by the Target scammers or is the "Get Out The Vote" program in Boston running strong? Edge to Nystrom says a fan of neither team..............

Posted by Jaxman2002 on December 26, 2013 at 01:50 PM

I had this a whole lot closer than what this was scored. I would say this was a draw with McQuaid getting the edge with energy but Nystrom definitely landed the two best punches of the fight. McQuaid had to go for the salts to shake of that bomb to the kisser. I will say he is one tough dude for taking that shot and getting even madder and going right back after Nystrom. Great fight!

Posted by slavv on December 24, 2013 at 03:35 PM

Despite taking the worst punch, MaQuaid wins this one on points....

McQuaid. blah, blah, blah

Posted by MassHole on December 23, 2013 at 11:08 PM

Decent fight, been awhile for us i feel.

Posted by BooSanta on December 23, 2013 at 08:45 PM

Best shot of this one is the sneaky Nystrom rocket cut from out of nowhere. Otherwise, McQ controlled the entire bout and landed most of the inconsequential chucks. Liked Mcq's stamina when the big one from Nystrom came.

Posted by srehm1 on January 19, 2014 at 10:05 AM

Good action fight. Not a lot landing. Nystrom with a bomb part way through and McQuaid comes back strong to finish. Win McQuaid.

Posted by staceyb on December 24, 2013 at 07:59 AM

The consolation for Nystrom in the loss to McQ was that he wasn't assisted off to the dressing room like his last fight with Glass. Granted that Nystrom smoked McQ with a right that would have decked many a pugilist.

Posted by smashem on December 24, 2013 at 10:16 AM

Edge McQuaid, think this fight is a little over-rated at a 7, gave it a 6.

Posted by MeatPlow on December 24, 2013 at 07:15 PM

Nystrom does pretty well against a much larger opponent. But McQuaid pulls it out at the end when he may have thought he may lose. Good fight.

Posted by barks1513 on December 23, 2013 at 11:34 PM

Love the homers every time their guys fight it is dominating. McQuaid gets the win only cause he threw more. He did not land anything other than body shots But he was busier. He got rocked and got his legs back by throwing, missed them all but he threw until Nystrom fell. Decent and very close tilt.

Posted by boxcarwillie on December 24, 2013 at 02:30 PM

great 2 way fight, with Nystrom landing the best shot, but McQuaid used his reach and landed more. Narrow win McQuaid in a spirited bout.

Posted by Hilaker on December 23, 2013 at 09:12 PM

Good fight. Nice shot by Nystrom. Win Mcquaid.

Posted by francoisleroux on December 24, 2013 at 12:44 AM

Win McQuaid on sheer volume, but props to Nystrom for the best punch. What a haymaker!

Posted by rocky 1 on December 24, 2013 at 12:29 AM

Give McQuaid the win because he was the busier fighterbut Nystrom rocked him once in the fight.I like the Boston announcers because they make me laugh.McQuaid is one of the hardest punchers in the league?Really!Oh come on now as usual a little biased for there fighters!

Posted by Kurtenback12 on December 24, 2013 at 02:35 PM

This is why we watch. For the passion. This one had it. That punch by nystrom wins this vicious tilt.

Posted by Blackbeard101 on December 23, 2013 at 11:39 PM

This was definitely a fight of quantity vs quality...McQuaid had the quantity but didn't really land anything significant. Nystrom had the quality as he landed a couple of solid rights that rocked McQuaid. IMO, the quality evened out the quantity....solid Draw.

Posted by DARCY T on December 24, 2013 at 03:39 AM

both guys landed a couple bombs.mcquaid as a bigger guy guy thrown more punches but it dont seem like he landed more.i call it a draw good to see nystrom fighting so fearlessly after being knocked out last time he fought.especially if it is bigger and better fighter like mcquaid

Posted by BennyD on December 24, 2013 at 02:16 PM

Both landed 2 solid shots each. 7 and a draw. Jack Edwards continues to induce vomitting.

Posted by sulley71 on December 24, 2013 at 01:01 AM

I had to watch this fight twice because the voting compared to the fight didn't make sense. McQuaid is the busier, no doubt buy Nystrom lands the best 3 shots by far! I'm going draw....

Posted by hebs1996 on December 26, 2013 at 09:20 PM

draw. nystrom with the heavier punches while weathering a storm from a bigger, busier man

Posted by endor on December 24, 2013 at 01:57 PM

Now That's Entertainment!! Give it an 8 and a draw!!!!

Posted by BruinsAllDaySon on December 27, 2013 at 09:38 AM

Nystrom with the punch of the fight - McQuaid with the majority of other punches landed, some of them solid. I think Nystrom surprised both McQuaid and everyone else in here with this one. Respect to him. Draw. McQuaid seems to be better when he's the "underdog".

Posted by stinglaw on December 24, 2013 at 05:07 PM

I see a draw. Nystrom landed 2 bombs. McQ has a titanium jaw.

Posted by Leo B on December 24, 2013 at 09:47 AM

Excellent battle, both fighters connected with some solid shots!! Edge to McQuaid.

Posted by Orielly on February 11, 2014 at 12:38 PM

Quaider wakes up after he takes a few and closes out with a decisive victory!

Posted by shawnrocks on December 23, 2013 at 11:21 PM

2 good fighters......win mcquaid.....nice to have him back... he took a hard shot from Nystrom who did a good job too

Nystrom with the w

Posted by habjo on December 24, 2013 at 02:27 PM

Adam had more punches thrown but unless he went to the back for a hug from jackass announcer boy he needed ice on something

Posted by BroonsGoons on December 27, 2013 at 04:57 PM

Watched it a few times, Darth Gayder didn`t land anything solid. Best punch was landed by Nystrom and it rocked Adam.

Posted by tville23 on December 24, 2013 at 10:09 AM

Nystrom landed the bigger blows and McQuaid had to go off for repairs. Decision Nystrom.

Posted by talister106 on December 26, 2013 at 08:56 AM

Nystrom.

Posted by mtrumper on December 28, 2013 at 02:52 PM

edge to Nystrom... landed bigger punches...

Posted by duffbrainard on December 26, 2013 at 11:22 PM

They were looking to hurt each other. They were genuinely mad at each other. Nystrom gets the best shots in. I wonder what set 'em off? I'm leaning Nystrom because McQ was so damaged. I think this site is visited heavily by Bruins fans. Or it's just Jack Edwards with 100 different IP addresses. Anyway, good tilt.

Posted by IMPEACH on December 31, 2013 at 12:45 PM

Sorry Bruins fans, but Nystrom lands two absolute bombs while McQuaid mostly windmills. Great showing by the much smaller player.

Posted by johnnyrock555 on April 02, 2014 at 02:29 AM

Nystrom was huge in this fight so I give him the win. McQuaid seems to me to be stronger but Nystrom picked his spots. As an Islander fan since the 70's, I love to hear the name Nystrom in a fight again.

Posted by Pindar on March 19, 2014 at 09:11 PM

Nystrom all the way!!!

monster shots by nystrom , more blows by mcquaid but mcquaid got rocked good a couple of times and had to go for repairs , THAT MEANS NYSTROM WINS all you dopey boston fans and jack edwards is a punk a$$.

That's how the big boys do it.

Posted by Humper on December 24, 2013 at 09:28 AM

I recuse myself on this one due to my intense dislike for McQuaid and decent opinion of Nystrom.

Posted by mcdonnie33 on December 25, 2013 at 02:29 AM

McQuaid carried the action as his size would dictate; Nystrom waiting for his opportunities and landed a couple of big ones ... props to both with a draw ... One of the rare fights where Jack Edwards isn't a 100% complete and total blowhard.

Posted by PantherPete on January 04, 2014 at 09:40 AM

McQuaid threw more but Nystrom was more effective. If McQuaid had gone down with the huge shots he took it would be a non discussion. But he didn't and therefore I have to go draw. Great fight!

Posted by JAK111695 on December 28, 2013 at 04:28 AM

As a Boston fan, I am going to get killed for this. It is a draw. Nystrom had the two big bombs (best punches in the fight), but McQuaid smiled at the first one. McQuaid threw way more punches (and landed more) but couldn't land the big shot. DRAW

Posted by Screaming Buffalo on December 23, 2013 at 09:08 PM

Nystrom landed the best shot but McQuaid was more active. Win McQuaid

Posted by BigBadBruins68 on December 24, 2013 at 02:23 AM

Lone Wolf had the better of this one, though Nystrom was game and landed the best punch, but McQuaid took it well. This tilt was a dandy, both guys were into it and landed some big punches. A good, honest hockey fight in the middle of a shift with both guys intent on hitting the other.

Posted by Biggus on December 24, 2013 at 02:35 PM

McQuaid the aggressor throughout this one, but Nystrom got in a couple of beauties. McQuaid and a 7.

Posted by goonsquad1224 on December 27, 2013 at 08:25 PM

I'll be honest...from a B's fan perspective...it was close. Yes mcq was busier and threw alot more punches but the "best shot" yes was from nystrom. That being said...you don't win a fight off one good shot that really didn't stop mcq from conintuining to reighn fists your way. If the refs don't stop that and let them get back up after they fall nystrom leaves to the dressing room too. He lost because he was never in control and took quite a few punches....and landed one very nice one himself. One punch vs alot of punches is not a fight win. I don't care if you swear by quality over quantity. Nystrom could not stop the lone wolf after he stung him on the nose. He would have needed to be scraped off the ice if they didn't both fall.

Posted by Lee77 on December 24, 2013 at 09:16 AM

Good bout !

Posted by BillyFromPhilly on January 06, 2014 at 01:02 PM

Wow, great fight. McQuaid but just barely, only because he was busier. That one bell ringer Nystrom threw almost KO'd the bigger man.

Posted by npa312 on February 04, 2014 at 01:23 PM

McQuaid with the slight advantage. Even though he took the biggest shots he controlled the entire fight and would have been able to pummel Nystrom if not for the refs. Good tough bout. I can understand why people get sick of Jack Edwards because his enthusiasm can be a little over the top at times. However, for the most part, I find him to be pretty entertaining. He could make a pee-wee hockey fight sound exciting. And sure hes partial towards Boston, but he doesn't seem to be significantly more biased than any other announcers. Edwards just gets so excited it can seem that way Try and find a clip of a Bruin taking a real beating. It doesn't happen often but Edwards usually gives credit where credit is due.

Posted by travist on December 26, 2013 at 11:58 AM

quantity over quality?

Posted by Bloodbank on March 13, 2014 at 09:26 PM

Nystrom wins this.

Posted by kari takko on December 26, 2013 at 02:45 PM

Win Nystrom. Nice bombs.

Posted by kkdowning on December 27, 2013 at 12:22 PM

That was truly excellent. Nystrom steps up in taking on McQuaid and lands some good shots, McQuaid with an iron chin shakes them off and is all offense.

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on December 28, 2013 at 11:40 PM

Great fight! Nystrom absolutely hammered McQuaid with some bombs to win this scrap.

Posted by sjpreston18 on December 30, 2013 at 09:32 PM

I have no clue how people think McQuaid won. I can understand voting for a draw, but to me Nystrom clearly got the better of his fellow combatant here, even if he didn't control most of the fight. Win Nystrom, 8

Posted by GoonVisor on December 23, 2013 at 10:37 PM

Great exchanges there. Draw. 7

Posted by codemgr on December 23, 2013 at 09:13 PM

Nice bout here! Personally I thought it would be a complete mismatch. I was wrong and have to give kudos to Nystrom for holding his own and even stinging McQuaid a couple of times. In the end McQuaid landed far more punches and gets the win.

Posted by lcrannell on December 26, 2013 at 01:07 PM

perseverance award goes to McQuaid who took two good punches and kept on going. Slight edge to McQuaid for the take down and more punches thrown.

Posted by EK65 on December 24, 2013 at 01:04 AM

That shot by Ny made me cringe! Ouch! Still gave it to Darth Quaider in his return for controlling the majority of the fight! Nice to see him back and I look forward to some more McQuaid-like Fights.

Posted by marctron1000 on December 28, 2013 at 01:09 AM

Great Fight. Hats off to two very tough men. McQuaid took hardest punch of the fight, but wins the decision.

Posted by mcoady1987 on December 24, 2013 at 10:58 AM

Good tilt from start to finish. Mcquaid was the aggressor but nystrom landed a couple of huge shots as well. W for Quaider in a very spirited tilt

Posted by Crazy Rabbi on December 24, 2013 at 01:57 AM

Great fight, great punch by Nystrom to the granite head of McQuaid. Very entertaining but give the W to Darth.

Posted by Streetbob on December 28, 2013 at 05:57 PM

GREAT fight...extra points for McQ taking that one shot and just shaking it off. That would have put most guys down. Close fight but win goes to McQuaid...

Posted by bigmike53 on December 24, 2013 at 05:08 PM

McQuaid is one of the hardest punchers in the league? Nystrom nearly took his head off with that big right hand. Win McQuaid for the quantity of his punches.

Posted by jd8888 on December 23, 2013 at 08:58 PM

McQuaid got rocked with that one punch but I feel he did get the better of Nystrom

Posted by Irish Up on March 24, 2014 at 04:00 AM

cant wait till lone wolf gets back to full health, and starts kickin ass again

Posted by kmd19 on December 24, 2013 at 12:00 PM

McQuaid takes a brutal shot to the kisser, which somehow grants him more speed to finish the fight and earn the win. The kid has to work on his defense though because he's one or two more shots from another concussion.

Posted by Jellyczar on December 23, 2013 at 09:30 PM

many big bombs dropped from both sides...... great fight.... pretty even, but slight edge to McQuaid

Posted by saxydogg77 on December 26, 2013 at 12:00 AM

McQuaid took two GIGANTIC shots but held his skates for the win. Nystrom took as good as he gave. One of the best bouts of the year. Merry Christmas!

Posted by hockeybrain on December 24, 2013 at 01:55 PM

Nystrom got in a couple of solid shots, McQuaid points for a lot of activity. Nystrom to the ice first, but no harm. McQuaid slight edge.. Neither fighter seemed hurt and McQuaid took the most solid shots.

Posted by Canner on December 24, 2013 at 01:38 AM

That's the lonewolf from 2+ years ago - always fought mean and with amazing stamina. Keep that up, Wolfey! Don'd discredit McQuaid because of that homer Jackass. He didn't hire him...

Posted by bruins34 on December 24, 2013 at 10:18 AM

Great fight and Nystrom almost steals it with a couple of great shots (McQuaid had to leave to get sewn up), but McQuaid threw too many shots and tossed the smaller Nystrom around too much to give it a draw. Fun bout to watch, especially coming on the heels of the Myers/Bergeron domestic spat the other night.

Posted by boldbilly on December 24, 2013 at 09:14 AM

You have to give the slight edge to McQuaid here......he certainly throws more but a lot are body shots and misses.......but he still takes it on guts and by virtue of landing a few more........but seriously super kudos to the much smaller Nystrom who lands 3 beauties, one of them a bomb that rocks McQuaid ........To his credit McQuaid can certainly take a shot......Win McQuaid..........lol @ Edwards re McQuaid one of the hardest punchers.......what should be said is Mcquaid's head one of the hardest substances known to man this side of a diamond.........Win McQuaid and I gave this one an 8. .....for all you Boston posters this is what you call objective or fair voting.........to all my friends I wish you a happy holiday.......to all my enemies I wish you a happy holiday............to Jack Edwards and Andy Brickley.........I hope that Santa brings you both a fresh set of eyes.........so you can see the world as the rest of us does, once you get past the black and gold there is a myriad of beautifull colours to be discovered......lol

OMG. Jack Edwards actually saw a punch land from a Bruin opponent. That is a first and that should be the real story here. He's the absolute worst and no one even comes close. Great shots from Nystrom but a close win to McQuaid on sheer volume and control of fight.

Posted by Fayderek14 on December 24, 2013 at 12:48 PM

Besides the one blow by Nystrom, McQuaid had complete control.

Good effort by Nystrom and a very solid punch landed on McQuaid but not enough for the victory. McQuaid lands way more and shows that he has one heck of a chin. Last year was definitely an off year for Quaider after coming back from a serious injury but he appears to have his strength and punching power back. Win McQuaid

More punches don't justify a win. Taking on a much bigger guy and rocking him does. McQuaid got rocked. Close fight but you can't ignore the fact that McQuaid got his knees buckled and had to leave the ice while Nystrom went to the penalty box. Nystrom with the win.

Posted by dogsrule on December 24, 2013 at 09:53 AM

Lone Wolf took Nystrom's best shot, which only served to enrage him, and proceeded to end the bout with a flurry of punches, all with ill intent...give Nystrom credit for hanging with one scary dude trying to rip your head off

That was a dandy, should be fight of the week. Mcquaid should be happy that was Nystrom landing those bombs and not some big heavyweight or he would still be laying there. Regardless, McQuaid gets the win for the most punches and a strong chin.

Quaider had this one. Got hit by one but put Nystrom down. 1st shift after an injury. Good fight by McQuaid.

Had to turn the volume down on this one when I realized who was announcing. I did turn it up right at the end & couldn't help but think how much this homer sounds like Will Ferrell doing a Harry Caray impression. Great fight!

Quaider with the duke after a serious layoff...no rust at all.

Good to see Darth McQuaid return from an injury and show how ready he was. Good fight but McQuaid takes the win.

win LoneWolf McQuaid....good bout.....Merry Christmas to all my HF pals

All of the McQuaid voters must like to get punched in the face rather than taking body and helmet shots. Nystrom clearly landed the best punches and sent McQuaid running to the dressing room for repairs. A common mistake in voting on this website is based on number of punches thrown not landed. McQuaid didn't land anything to the face of Nystrom but took about 3 big rights that obviously did some damage. Win Nystrom.

Welcome back Darth Quader!

That punch by Nystro landed flush but it only seemed to anger McQuaid who then proceeded to reign blows down upon him. Win Lone Wolf

Posted by dbazzy on December 24, 2013 at 10:37 AM

lone wolf busier landed many more punches, caught a couple of haymakers on the button, the last one seemed to piss him off as he dominazted at the end....win lone wolf

Nystrom landed some solid punches during the fight but McQuaid gave him a solid pounding.

"McQuaid is one of the hardest punchers in the league"! LMAO, you've gotta love homer announcers. Having said that, this was an entertaining bout. Edge to McQuaid with all of those rock hard body blows.

MCQUAID IS BACK

Great tilt. Lone Wolfe dominates.

Mcquaid stood up to the challenge from Nystrom. He looks stronger this year. Glad the bruins have him he has a great attitude. Chara lucic boychuk and mcquaid are 4 of the toughest SOBs to play against. Great time to be a bruin fan.

I have a hard time seeing how McQuaid walked away with this fight with voters. Nystrom landed the three best shots and rocked him with all three. Adam definitely threw more so that counts for something but no way does he win this won straight up. I mean when the homer announcers describing the fight gets excited for the shots landed against his guy you know he was in a battle.

Wow!!! McQuaid just beat Nystrom like he stole something. Kudos to Nystrom for fighting back and landing the best punch in the fight, but one punch doesn't counteract the numerous body shots plus just being completely outclassed in the last portion. It appeared that Nystrom's punch only made McQuaid angry...after taking that shot he unleashed hell on him.

McQuaid can no doubt take a punch. The two haymakers from Nystrom only pissed him off. 'W' for McQuaid. Hopefully not headed off with another damn concussion. Huge B's fan here, but have to add that Edwards is an embarrassment.

McQuaid is like one of those scary kids you don't want to ever fight because you know you can't win. The harder you hit him the more you piss him off and the more he hits you. A real fighters mentality. I still think if he added 20lbs he could be a top heavy in the league. Fun fighter to watch!

Mcquaid did well considering he has been hurt and hasn't played.in weeks

Posted by brianamoro on December 23, 2013 at 08:53 PM

McQuaid in total control even though Nystrom landed a bomb. Win McQuaid

Posted by Kordic64 on December 23, 2013 at 08:48 PM

Slight edge McQ

Posted by TERMINATOR on December 23, 2013 at 10:25 PM

Nystrom rocked him twice and buckled Mcquaid....the jersey over at the end seemed to impede Nystrom ....very close but slight edge to Nystrom.
