I can't score that one because Rypien was disadvantaged quite a bit there by the visor on McLeod. Nice takedown by McLeod at the end but I highly doubt he would have had the chance to do that if he didn't have his helmet and visor on for most of the fight. Rypien should have another go at this turkey McLeod after he rips his lid and visor off his head. I think McLeod is a chump.

Posted by Behn Wilson on November 15, 2009 at 06:48 AM

Judo flip and a visor to go... very Dennis Weaver. What?? Too obscure?

Posted by Razor73 on November 15, 2009 at 08:27 AM

Draw. McLeod is a tough guy - fighting with an injured eye... not bad!

Posted by rjmont on November 15, 2009 at 09:05 AM

McLeod's real tough until he gets his helmet ripped off. Then goes for the takedown after not being able to hide behind the visor. Draw

No clear winner here both got some pretty decent shots in. I'm callin it a draw.

Posted by micah555 on November 15, 2009 at 07:25 PM

Rypien wins again. McLeod was very crafty to wear a visor into the fight and then use judo when losing; but that doesn't get him any respect from me.

Posted by Wernst on November 15, 2009 at 11:17 AM

For people who say McLeod is hiding behind a visor should know he took a stick to the eye a few weeks ago and has to wear it much like Brad May has to for now. The blood you see is from him taking a puck to the mouth in the second period not the fight. Draw.

Posted by OverXposed21 on November 15, 2009 at 10:28 PM

some of you guys are clueless and it's a bit funny .. anyways I think for a guy that spent the first half of the fight landing/throwing punches 'mcchicken' did alright for himself .. if any of you had ever been in one you'd probably know you cant go forever a take down was inevitable and had nothing to do with the sudden lack of bucket ..

Posted by mikebflorida on November 16, 2009 at 01:31 PM

Lots of votes for Rypien but I'm not quite sure why. McLeod shouldn't fight with that shield on and if he's hurt, don't be fighting at all but hockey players were never accused of being smart. lol It looked like McLeod land some shots and so did Ryp. Give it a draw.

Posted by tattooedkingpin on November 15, 2009 at 07:21 PM

Rypien should not have let McLeod back up. He had the W til Cody got up. Draw

Posted by Togalthorpe on November 15, 2009 at 02:45 AM

Draw, but decent tilt

first rypien fight of season without w for him.draw

Posted by Juha82 on November 15, 2009 at 09:01 AM

quite clear draw in my eyes.

Posted by acd1 on November 15, 2009 at 12:58 PM

Draw, but a nice one. Mcleod did way better than expected.

Posted by Awesome-0 on November 15, 2009 at 12:38 PM

Rypien didn't dominate like he usually does. McLeod landed a few early but Rypien came on until he got taken down. Draw.

Posted by Madcheddar on November 15, 2009 at 02:53 PM

I guess with a name like "Cody" you'd wear a visor too. I wonder if Cody's visor is now afraid of the Pitbull just like the rest of the NHL chumps.

Posted by Martell on November 19, 2009 at 09:02 PM

Simple Visor = loss

Posted by bostonrs555 on November 15, 2009 at 09:08 AM

It's like trying to beat up a guy locked in a car!!!! Ripper with the W anyway

Posted by dmac1983 on November 16, 2009 at 09:42 AM

Mark Rypien? Announcing 101: Learn the players' names. Edge to Rypien. Both guys exchanged punches, but Rypien was more active and more accurate with his shots. Why is McLeod wearing a visor?

Posted by huddles on November 15, 2009 at 09:01 AM

win canuck close but rypen with win blood on av, signed fan of neither team

Posted by Mouseman on November 16, 2009 at 12:40 AM

Whats with Mcleod trying to end the fight twice with a wrestling take down? The ripper wins by default.

Posted by rwlsn on November 15, 2009 at 12:55 PM

take off the shield Micky Mouse you big bonehead

Posted by BigJtheCanuck on November 15, 2009 at 06:03 PM

SUTHED, dude get off the site, you obviously don't know what your talking about. Rypien fights anyone, that last thing he is, is a coward. plus he is middle weight so that takes him out of fighting some ppl, not that it was stop him. Dude know your stuff before you comment.

Posted by SABREHATRED on November 16, 2009 at 08:59 PM

Come on Mcleod, grow some hair on those raisins!!!! W double R

Posted by 45skyfire on November 15, 2009 at 02:09 PM

Rypien with the win.....Mcleod shouldve taken off the visor

Posted by Slap Chop on November 18, 2009 at 11:29 AM

Disgusting bailout by Mcleod. can't give him any credit for a headlock and judo flip. Win Rypien

Posted by atxdacosta on January 22, 2010 at 07:50 PM

Mcleod has to take this one he slammed the shit out of Rypien at the end .i will say Rypien is still one of the best boxers in the nhl.

Posted by Westcoast_Goon on November 15, 2009 at 11:55 AM

Awkward start, good finish. Both guys were chucking, but Rypien landed a bit better. Draw/Edge Rypien. I'd like to see these guys go with a proper square-off, and with no lids/visors. I have a feeling Rypien would handle McLeod if that happened.

Posted by thebigbea55 on November 15, 2009 at 06:36 PM

win rypien.. you can tell he didn't want to punch as much with mcleod visor on.. ppl said mcleod is injured cause of an eye injury.. if you are injured, don't fight then... if you do fight, take off the damn visor..

Posted by pj413 on November 20, 2009 at 11:32 AM

Granted McLEOD got the take down but Rypien nailed McLEOD with a few good ones...advantage to Rypien

Posted by basil73 on November 16, 2009 at 09:58 AM

I have to give this one to Ryp simply because Cody seemed to not want any part of it once Ryp was able to get his visor off. Indeed, if you have an eye injury and are concerned about it, why try to get in a fight especially with a guy like Ryp when you know he will get to your face sooner or later. Not smart and a bit gutless...

Posted by moneybags on November 15, 2009 at 03:42 AM

once clouds helmet came off he wasnt too brave ..he did rite by wrestling rip to the ice before he got all the way

Posted by knuckle_chucker on November 15, 2009 at 01:25 AM

Decent scrap, slight edge to Rypien. Props to Mcleod for surviving this one. Rypper is one hell of a fighter

Posted by CairnsIsGod33 on November 15, 2009 at 03:39 AM

JUDO FLIP. I'd make a big deal about the visor but the commentator said something about an eye injury so I can understand why he is wearing it but what I can't understand is why are you fighting a guy like Ryp when you have an eye injury ya idiot. WIn Rypien Ryp is a great fighter but I refuse to call him Middle Weight Champ until he beats Cam Janssen.

Posted by bruins rule on November 15, 2009 at 07:35 AM

rypien gets the win in this fight.

Posted by Taubi on November 15, 2009 at 01:40 AM

55/45 for rypien.

Posted by nowornever on November 15, 2009 at 02:10 AM

McLeod = Visor wearing ........ Guys with visor should never act though. Win Rypien

Posted by flanders70 on November 15, 2009 at 05:35 AM

First of all, IT'S NOT F'N Mark Rypien!!! His uncle's football career is long over. I watched a different feed and think McLeod landed maybe on glancing blow to Rypien. Rypien with the clear win as McLeod and his bloody nose head to the locker room... There must be 23% homers to give McLeod the win...

Posted by Yzermanindahall on November 16, 2009 at 09:16 PM

Rick won the battle and the Canucks won the war. Rypien landed more quality punches takedown doesnt always constitute a win. clear cut win for Rypien in my eyes

Posted by riffraff on November 15, 2009 at 01:07 PM

i guess McChicken has the handbook on how to fight rypien. Step 1.)Wear a visor. Step 2.) Use judo takedown when visor is removed and face is pummeled. If you're hurt dont wear a visor and pick a fight so another player can injure their hands on your windshield. Octopus, takedowns are lame and not part of a hockey fight. Quote me that McChicken will not fight Rypien again this season when he gets his doctors note that the visor can come off. Visor Visor Visor Visor. 8-2.

Posted by HerbRaglan on November 15, 2009 at 09:58 AM

rypien landed some good shots.

Posted by dorobo on November 15, 2009 at 12:28 PM

That last Rypien's uppercut destroyed McLeod. Great, really close fight.

Posted by Dave Brown HOF on November 19, 2009 at 10:07 AM

Good fight. Win Rypien. He could have really pounded on Mcleod when they went to the ice the first time but he let him get back up and away they went again. Can't give Mcleod shit about the visor either as apparently he has an injury and din't have time to lose it, but Rypien's hand was bad before the fight and hitting Mcleod's face and shield that many times isn't going to help.

Posted by Bieksanator on November 15, 2009 at 02:21 PM

If Mcleods helmet came off at the start he would of been finished right away.

Posted by Dogcrazy on November 15, 2009 at 01:57 AM

McLeod was able to hang on against Rypien with the help of his visor, good for McLeod! Without the visor, McLeod's face would be full of Rypien's fists! haah

Posted by slavv on November 16, 2009 at 05:54 PM

Rypien with the win. Not sure what some of you McLeod supporters were watching. Lucky for McLeod he was wearing the visor, yet he still lost the fight. Rypien not only throws accurate puches, but he blocks a lot of punches. By the way, those lame bail-out hip tosses are meaningless...they happen when a guy knows he is losing and he needs to end it.

Posted by marty4pres on November 15, 2009 at 12:26 PM

i give it to rypien, mcleod gets a takedown but is lucky he didn't get killed by rypien! who the f is this guy!

Posted by abomb74 on November 15, 2009 at 03:14 AM

nothing mcleod threw, landed. not rypiens best performance but yet another light heavy beaten by the ripper.

Posted by tkehler on November 15, 2009 at 08:01 PM

Edge Rypien, he landed more and just seemed more enthusiastic. (Sidenote: I don't know why fighters aren't incensed when their opponents fight with shields.)

Posted by ipswitch on November 15, 2009 at 02:51 AM

even w/ his visor on, mcleod still got bloodied, gotta give it to rypien

Posted by jmackisback on November 15, 2009 at 01:16 AM

Mcleod is a gutless pussy, fighting with a visor, what a joke.... too bad for him, rypien got his helmet off and punished him

Posted by Bloodbank on November 15, 2009 at 08:46 AM

Good thing McL had the visor, he wouldn't have lasted as long. Easy win for Rypien

Posted by Spanky_Jazz on November 15, 2009 at 03:46 AM

Also, for the record: McLeod is only wearing the visor because he HAS to for a certain amount of time after an eye injury. He's not doing it by choice and has said that once the required time has passed, he'll go back to playing without it. Normally I agree with the visor = pussy thing, but it's not correct in this case.

Posted by mcb789 on November 15, 2009 at 01:17 AM

mcleod landed some great punches to rypien face in this fight. win for mcleod.

Posted by zdrok on November 15, 2009 at 02:16 PM

McLeod with a narrow win.

Posted by SUTHED on November 15, 2009 at 01:11 PM

Draw but Rypien is a bloody coward. A: He never goes after anyone very tough B: McLeod was wearing a visor because of a eye injury. I'd like to see him go with Mc Grattan or Koci.

Posted by octopus33 on November 15, 2009 at 09:18 AM

This was a great fight. I didn't see this coming at all. I said it was a hug fest, but then McLeod and Rypien just had some ferocious blows. By the way- at the end props to McLeod for the takedown. McLeod Wins.

Posted by grandmadynamite on November 15, 2009 at 02:45 PM

Suprised McLeod stood with this guy. Rypien probably the best pound for pound fighter on any roster at the moment. Love to see him and Tootoo drop the gloves sometime. Fight was close though. Might have been different without the visor. Draw.

Posted by bdt on November 15, 2009 at 01:38 PM

maybe if rypien was any good people would remember his name, seen a few of his fights, throws lots of punches and fast just no wieght or power behind those punches do do any dammage, Rypien= Manitoba Moose

Posted by tomales2 on November 15, 2009 at 09:57 AM

Not too obscure-Chester. The cult fav didn't look as impressive as usual. Draw

2-pt. takedown for McLeod at the end!

Posted by claire alexande on November 16, 2009 at 04:04 PM

draw; not one of rypien's more impressive performances.

Posted by muskokadangler on November 17, 2009 at 06:33 PM

Gotta call it a draw. If he has an injury he shouldn't be droppin the mits.If he is good enough to drop them then he should remove the bucket. or not where the visor. Different fight if visor shots land on face!!!! Check out Mcleod in there first fight,,,,,,,,,He hold on and doesn't want to throw because he lost his bucket and in this one he goes for the takedown right after he loses his bucket........Chicken shit should cover it!!!!!!! MAN UP McLeod!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11Good swinging by both!!!!!! Hey Wernst....May takes his visor off.........what about McPanzy????

Posted by TrueBlue26 on November 15, 2009 at 10:43 AM

yes, i love with ppl who fight with a visor

Posted by tiburon4 on November 15, 2009 at 04:13 PM

Now this is a fight! A good, heavy hitting draw!

Posted by crazybubs on November 16, 2009 at 02:42 AM

Give it to ripper, mcleod had no fight in him without the visor... take downs are for chumps. Especially after rypien let him up earlier in the fight.

Posted by Schmutty on November 15, 2009 at 01:39 AM

Get the visor off tough guy!

Posted by Oil Can Henry on November 15, 2009 at 11:00 AM

Nice effort by McLeod, but he was still getting beat. The blatant hip-toss takedown wasn't right either, bail move on his part.

Posted by piney on November 16, 2009 at 07:42 PM

that hip toss was bullshit. W/out his helmet McLeod was toast.. Rypien win.

Posted by mike hartman on November 16, 2009 at 08:41 AM

The fighter in the league.

Posted by Bahjay on November 15, 2009 at 02:33 AM

Lol another Mark Rypien reference by an American network.

Posted by dfergin on November 17, 2009 at 12:35 PM

Let me first congratulate C. McLeod for fighting with a 1/2 shield. You sure are a total bada$$. Next time, man up and take your helmet off. Pansies that fight with any mask need to be given another 5 min. major for being a sissy.

Posted by rocky7482 on November 15, 2009 at 08:33 AM

good scrap, edge to rypien...sorry, no points for takedowns, only for fists....mcleod`s tough, he`s coming off an eye injury...he probably shouldn`t be scrapping yet, but none of the other avalanche wusses will take on rypien....i would like to see, just for once, one of the scorers take on a guy like rypien, and eat a few fists, if only as a sign of respect to guys like mcleod who get their faces and fists beat up all year protecting them.

Posted by straightup on November 15, 2009 at 06:10 PM

I called that a draw. Too bad McLeod didn't get the visor off. Two very good smaller fighters. I sure hate those takedowns, we're going to see someone get seriously hurt from those one day. EDIT: Watched it again and changed my vote to RR victory. Turns out McLeod didn't land shots that I thought he had. My bad. Should have given it to Rypien in the first place for that lame bail-out takedown.

Posted by chad420 on November 15, 2009 at 06:20 PM

win ripper....a good tilt...mcleod did well for himself (visor n all) vs the best middleweight in hockey

Posted by Rick16 on November 15, 2009 at 12:44 AM

rypien landed more shots and blocked a lot of mcleod's what a gutless puke mcleod is though... the guy is wears a visor and still tries to pick fights win rypien

Posted by BigBadBruins68 on November 15, 2009 at 11:45 AM

McLeod did pretty well, but Rypien clearly got the better of him.

Posted by dorian on November 15, 2009 at 08:54 AM

Who is this McLeod character? Great effort on his part! Rypien with the obvious win though. I appreciate his style of put-the-head-down-and-throw. May the best man win. These guys who stand as far away as possible and try and throw bombs should take some lessons from these two middleweights. edit: I didn't notice the visor until I read the comments. Will have to watch again. Maybe I should have more coffee before I watch my morning vids.

Posted by old55guy on November 15, 2009 at 02:41 PM

Too bad the poor Camera guy was looking the wrong way so we missed the start of this, Looked like McLeod wanted it over early but Rypien pulled him back up after the early takedown?.McLeods takedown to end sucked, but had too to save more of a beating, at that point it may have been his only way to hurt Rypien. not right..... Rypien wins this one.

Posted by soapkiller on March 18, 2010 at 04:24 PM

Rypien got better shots in by McLeod got a nice hip throw in there

Posted by perezj on November 15, 2009 at 10:33 AM

Slight edge McLeod. I would like to see Rypien fight someone who can handle themselves. Not May that is past his prime; Vandeermmer, Asham, Boulton,

Posted by millerdvr on November 15, 2009 at 12:54 PM

Clear win for Cody, Ripper lost another fight

Posted by LilHockeyGirl on March 26, 2010 at 01:03 PM

Wow, for once I'mma give McLeod the win! Even though to keep himself from losing he flipped Rypien over and landed on him, but still!

Posted by Mighty Atom on November 15, 2009 at 12:27 PM

McLeod is hurt, that's why he have a visor. Normally he don't have it
