First of all that is a clean hit. It was also a violent hit, good for Neil. Second, it provoked a response from Steve Downie? OK. So Downie (who made a far dirtier hit awhile back) instigates a fight and gets tagged for the extra punishment, good for Neil. Thirdly, now Neil has an opportunity to pound Downie. That is great for hockey in general because guys like Downie should be pounded out of the NHL for making a far dirtier hit against McAmmond a year or two ago on an almost identical scenario. My only complaint is that Downie didn't get enough of a beating. Can you tell I am not a fan of Downie? I am a fan of Chris Neil...I wasn't before this play but now I am.

keep-your-head-up lesson by Neil.

Skating with your head down can get you hurt. Clean hit. Slight edge to Neil.

Nice to see Downie stand up for a teammate. He's not in Neil's league though.

Who is that idiot announcer? Clean hit and a clean win for Neil. Hedmond will learn to keep his head up eventually or he'll end on the same career path as Brett Lindros.

Downie is like a little kid out there against grown men. put on some weight and grow a little to match your balls. That was a great hit.

Awesome hit.. That's what happens when you play the puck with your head down. I'm surprised the piece of crap Downey actually went after Neil.

A much better hit than so called fight. Another Eurowuss that gets drilled with his head down. Gotta love it!!! Downie sheets jumps in and gets thrown around like the dryer sheet he is also for good measure. Neil going back to old school hockey and finishing his check. That defenseman should punch that goalie in the chops for setting him up like that. Tampax Bay goes 0 for 2 in the fights tonight.

FN' A baby - payback is a B-iatch, aint it Downie - FN'A - the refs should have let Neil pound on him until he had a serious concusion or something - hate Downie SO MUCH

Beautiful hit...that's what happens when you skate with your head down behind the net. Neil also wins the fight. That's a good five minute penalty. One opponent goes to the box with you for five and another has to go stop the little birdies from flying around his head.
