Downie mistakes Gudbranson for a European,
and... despite a last minute comeback...
pays the price.
Nice of the Panthers to offer to escort him to the box, afterwards.

Those ''uppercuts with nasty intentions''
reminded me of a certain, mean, former Flyers-Hawks defenceman,
who's name escapes me at the moment...
I'll have to ask StaceyB.

Holy Behn Wilson, Batman! The kid Gudbranson rocked Downie's mandible with those two uppercuts but somehow the little bleep managed to hang in and come back at the end. Jovo said something and got in Downie's face at the end--he is Gudbranson's mentor on the blueline.

Aside from the fight, I loved Gudbranson's long pass to Skille to clear the zone. That showed a lot of confidence in the big kid's game.

Gudbranson is one big boy, it would be interesting to see how he does against someone bigger other than the little pecker head he fought tonight.

Gudbranson used his height and did what looked like he was working on a heavy bag -- win for the teenager

Let's all hope this kid Gudbranson has what it takes and is for real.
What I liked best about this fight is how Gudbranson timed his first upper-cut , when Downie's head was bobbing up and down.

Obvious who won but Downie with some late skill showing in getting out of the lockout and throwing a couple that landed. Gudbranson better do some cardio. If that was Vandermeer or Janssen or someone else with skill and wind he would have been in trouble late.

Slow that video down & Downie's hair was flying like a shampoo commercial -- Nice uppercuts from long range.

Nonetheless, I give Downie credit; he hung in there and scored a few late one's on an exhausted Gudbranson.

Pretty impressive for a 19 year old, even if he does outweigh and outreach his opponent.

Gundbranson lucky the referees stepped in. He had nothing left and was waiting for the officials to break it up; while Downey was starting to connect. Imagine if that was ORR or ENGELAND or the MOUSTACHE.....

Gudbranson making a name for himself with some BEAUTY uppercuts. Whether they connected or not is irrelevant...they will KO someone someday. Credit to Stevie Downey though. He absorbed the early pressure and was on the offensive late. Great tactical tilt.
