I dont know what alot of people were watching. I love how people say cote was being to defensive. Boulton was playing huggy bear with riley and boulton does his typical fight. Waits till the end until the other guy is tired then he starts throwing. And he got lucky because his arm came out of the jersey. So people need to stop bagging on cote, he wanted to go again with boulton and then boulton started getting tough when the refs stepped in between. DRAW!!!.

looked like a draw to me ,good shots by both

Name one player who will drop the gloves at a dime? Cote! All you Flyer haters can wish you had a spark like Riley! Win or Lose he does his job night after night!

Posted by stizzo on January 23, 2009 at 10:25 PM

Boulton wasnt that good - Cote did better in the beginning but Boulton did come back - draw - good scrap - but draw

Posted by Big Little Tank on January 22, 2009 at 10:02 AM

I am rather impressed with Cote here. I enjoyed this one myself. Boulton came on at the end and it was kinda huggie at the beginnig. Cote then brought a little on in the middle. I have to go draw, as much as I felt Boulton brought it on at the end. Good fight though.

Posted by nighthawk walt on January 22, 2009 at 09:44 PM

Cote did not do anything,at least Boulton came on at the end and landed a few.Win for boulton

Posted by biggravy on January 22, 2009 at 10:34 AM

Hug and smooch foreplay by Boulton, bringing a bit of juice at the end, enough for the close win.

Posted by Dougr on January 25, 2009 at 05:06 PM

I hope Cote's dad is a plastic surgeon.....he's going to need him by the time his career is over,,,,,

Posted by boxxy161 on January 22, 2009 at 01:21 PM

the flyers lead the league in fights and cote is tied for the lead it would be nice to see them win a fight once in a while. as a life long flyers fan i think we need a heavy weight

Posted by Chivas Regal on January 22, 2009 at 04:54 PM

Another loss for Cote. Flyers fans gotta be sick of him. They expect better.

Posted by wannago on January 22, 2009 at 08:25 PM

This was a TOTAL ass whipping handed down by Boulton. When he got his right free he landed 6 solid punches to Miley Cooties face. Thank god for the linesmen. Someone give Eric some pliers to pull Cooties teeth out of his hand in the penalty box. Why does Miley even try? Has he ever won a fight? The homers on this site are pathetic. Pull up your blinds.

Posted by blazers76 on January 23, 2009 at 12:21 PM

Close fight. Did Cote try and play some defense? weird. Win Boulton. mcb789 you are becoming worse than CHRISNEILANOTOR.

Posted by RBEARZO18 on January 24, 2009 at 06:07 PM

im a flyers fan and i like cote and asham....but i am used to the flyers usually having one of the better fighters in the league....like recently brashear, fedorouk b4 he started getting ko`ed even sandy mccarthy....but im losing a whole lot of faith in coteand asham...asham falls down in every single god damn fight...and cote has become a punching bag bigtime this year...i was at this game and cote decides to drop the gloves with boulton immediately after the flyers score a goal(not the best time for your player to fight). But anyway cote drops them, the crowd gets rowdy, everyone stands and starts cheering and then cote winds up losing another fight...this has become so common for cote lately and it absolutely takes the life right out of the crowd...and with our biggest rivalries being the pens(godard),rangers(orr),caps(brashear) i think it is a huge deal that the flyers get enforcer real soon instead of just a fighter(cote)...not taking nothing away from bcause atleast he drops the gloves...but im starting to believe he is gonna get ass whooped everytime he drops his gloves anymore

Posted by mcpuck on January 25, 2009 at 03:09 PM

a strong finish gives Boulton the win.

Posted by craig_9806 on January 22, 2009 at 07:39 AM

Cote pounded again

Posted by BattleAxe13 on January 22, 2009 at 08:32 AM

If taking a punch were to be an olympic event Cote would be on the dream team. Riley got beat, not dominated, just clearly beaten.

Posted by Dave Brown was the Baddest on January 22, 2009 at 11:06 AM

I wish we could have seen a rematch. This scrap was even until Boulton got his arm out of his sleeve. Even though his tie - down didn't come loose I still thought that a misconduct was handed out when that happened. Riley hardly had a chance when Eric had no elbow pad, no jersey and Riley had nothing to grab. I could actually see giving the decision to Riley based on the fact that Eric should have knocked him out with the advantage. Two very good scrapper and I look forward to the next one.

Posted by trpaulson on January 26, 2009 at 06:16 PM

Boulton wins. Cote took some hard shots at the end.

Posted by bouch19 on January 22, 2009 at 08:14 AM

looked alot like the beating he gave lucic. Tough customer for sure...beginning to like his style. Win for the bolt.

Posted by Gunslinger on January 22, 2009 at 07:29 PM

Boulton started slow allowing Riley a head start. Unfortunately, he did'nt use it to his advantage and ended up losing due to Boulton landing the better shots in the last quarter of the fight. Riley did'nt embarass himself but he did'nt win either. Mcb789, I vote against the Flyers because they lose most of their fights. I try to be honest and objective, two traits you have yet to experiance.

Posted by bbout2c on January 22, 2009 at 11:25 AM

ranger fan here, but any intelligent person could see that the flyers have at least 6 fighters so even though riley doesn't win to many he takes the pressure off the other guys to have to fight . plus he brings an excitement to the game we all want to see! don't forget ranger fans boulton has colton orrs number. and i am a colton orr fan . renny needs to bring up sugden for acouple of games to add some spice to ranger lineup

Posted by Lucy Brown on January 22, 2009 at 06:58 PM

Cote really is a terrible fighter. He's fun to watch cause he goes toe to toe and I respect that but it's only a matter of time before somebody breaks his face or he gets knocked out cold ala fedoruk. Either Boulton doesnt hit very hard or cote is a cement head. Cote takes some big punches and looks no worse for it. Somebody like boogard or orr is going to lay this dude out someday soon.

Posted by Sasky001 on January 23, 2009 at 08:52 PM

I miss the days when people did a play by play of the fight instead of commenting about mcd875.

Posted by sporr on January 22, 2009 at 10:12 AM

mcb789 and Flyersfan4life2 are clueless. Have some sense to admit your guy got handled. Boulton landed all the good punches. Win Boulton!

Posted by nycbob on January 22, 2009 at 10:20 AM

Cote "taking one - to take one" again. God he sucks. If he can remember his own name when he's 40 he'll be lucky. Get him a bus pass to the AHL

Posted by holydrums on January 22, 2009 at 10:38 AM

Flyers fan here so go ahead and let'er rip. Boulton gets the win here but I have to comment on the reverse homerism that is rampant on this site. Definite win to Boulton but do say that Cote doesn't belong in this league is just as ridiculous as saying that Cote won this fight. He's a middleweight doing a heavyweight's job and though he doesn't always win he is fearless as hell. Anyone that gets props from BGL is alright with me. Why the hell do you Rangers homers give a sh#! about what he does during warmup. Desperate to find something to bitch about Nancys?

Posted by tiburon4 on January 22, 2009 at 03:23 PM

39 seconds to throw a punch: puh-leese! But Boulton squeaks out a win with more punches.

Posted by bruiseyoureye on January 21, 2009 at 09:53 PM

good hugfest at first but boulton got some nice shots in....win to boulton.........http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4J4nLyWvd0

Posted by jbaktai on January 22, 2009 at 09:32 AM

Win boulton but i wouldnt say he dominated cote, too much holding on for cotes style, if he aint throwin like a mad man he's not gonna win.

Posted by gillyphoto on January 22, 2009 at 12:40 PM

pretty good fight, boulton definitely took this one

Posted by paddyd on January 22, 2009 at 09:40 AM

Typical Homer comments from the Flyers gallery. They couldn't see the truth if it hit them in the face. Decent scrap but definately not a draw. "W" to Bolt.

Posted by dbakes on January 25, 2009 at 09:37 AM

Only Boulton landed any punches here.

Posted by oreilly_025 on January 22, 2009 at 02:21 PM

ya gotta give it to boutlon, riley cote is an awful fighter, dont think ive ever seen him win a fight

Posted by BooSanta on January 22, 2009 at 12:05 PM

Rockem Sockem Riley is Rocked and Socked again. Lightening Boult strikes with repeated right haymakers. Rocked and Socked simply cant fight from the stance anymore. He was also being out muscled and out endured by the SMALLER guy this time. He is always trying to grab on. Boults had a small cut from a gouge by Cote. It is impossible to assess what damage was done on Cote as it has resembled an anchovie pizza with extra sauce all season. Cote needs to hit the weights and watch some tapes to make his fights at least closer. Either that or only fight Deveaux for the rest of the year. Boult only needs to keep doing what he's doing.

Posted by probie83 on January 22, 2009 at 06:46 PM

What happended to Cote he has become a fucking bum.

Posted by timm0 on January 22, 2009 at 11:06 AM

Always refreshing to see the Flyer-haters out there with their inspiring delusions of grandeur and hypocrisy. Yeah, there are no other team's fans that are annoying or 'homer' for their team... just in Philly. Sure. Win goes to Boulton. Still waiting for Cote to win a fight this season. Those who predict his NHL departure are probably overly generous - I doubt he finishes the season. He's colorful and works hard, but the coach thinks the 4th line should bring donuts, not play hockey. Since Cote can't play and can't win fights, I'd expect to see someone else come in soon to take Cote's place and fetch coffee for the top 3 lines.

Posted by tattooedkingpin on January 22, 2009 at 10:56 AM

wow. Boulton got loose and it was over. W to Boulton.

Posted by rugby on January 24, 2009 at 09:51 AM

Having your arm free makes it a whole lot easier to swing - Win for Boulton. As for Cote, he did seem a bit more hesitant than usual. Besides sometimes giving up a few inches and pounds (not with Boulton) I think the other danger for him is that he has an all out style and only throws lefts. Probably 75% of his partners are going right, so it's either kill or be killed when that happens and right now it's the latter.

Posted by C. Alter on April 06, 2009 at 07:56 PM

Domination of the action by Bolton, but not the fight.

Posted by MajorGroove on January 22, 2009 at 06:55 PM

I guess nice job from Cote to hang in there but he didn't land much. Then again neither did Boulton. After the early cuddling it looks like Boulton wins it. Gave it a 6.

Posted by lefthook25 on January 22, 2009 at 07:02 PM

Boulton had some good fortune when his arm slippped out of his shirt, but hey he actually won a fight.

Posted by idiotstupid2002 on January 22, 2009 at 04:20 PM

I'm a Flyers fan and it's not hard to say that Cote got crushed. As a matter of fact, I'm not sure the last time Cote's actually won a fight. The Flyers need a monster enforcer.......Where's Brashear when you need him?

Posted by Muscles on January 22, 2009 at 05:13 PM

Cote did his best to hold off Boulton's right, but wasn't successful.

Posted by dcamp522 on January 22, 2009 at 04:33 PM

I'm a Flyers fan, go back to the days of the Broad Street Bully's. With that said, Riley lost this fight. We do need a "Heavyweight" in town. I give the guy credit. How many guys, actually take on a guy they might lose to? Not many in this day and age. Ottawa has a guy that only fights at home, and with guys he can handle. Riley takes on all, and good bad or indifferent, shows up. Josh Gratton, who's not much smaller than Cote, said it would not be wise for him to fight Brashear. Cote did it twice, he will admit, he had his lunch handed to him, and still want's to fight Brash. One question was did he ever win a fight. Go back to last year, Roy. He may have won a few this year, but that was a ko.

Posted by Behn Wilson on January 23, 2009 at 10:06 PM

Good fight, .but the late, suprising domination by Boulton, was mainly due to getting his arm free

Posted by Chaotic8 on January 22, 2009 at 06:39 PM

Win Boulton, but MAJOR props to Cote for being able to take such hits without dropping. Glad to know he doesn't have a glass jaw.

Posted by Thrashergoon on January 22, 2009 at 01:10 PM

Decent bout. Boulton wins with the late punches.

Posted by drop_the_gloves on January 22, 2009 at 06:59 PM

I am a huge Flyers fan, but Boulton owned Cote like he did Orr earlier last month. What is wrong with Cote. He doesn't look anywhere near the form he was last year. In fact, I only remember him winning one fight this year. Did he go to the Frank Bathe school of fighting or something? For you youngsters, Bathe was a Flyer back in the 1980's who fought alot, but always just seemed to hang on to his opponent with both hands while the other guy beat him senseless. Riley just looks very hesitant this year like he's afraid to throw them. Cote is tied for most fights this year in the NHL. Not sure whether to say been in fights, or fights.

Posted by Buckster on January 22, 2009 at 10:46 AM

Easy win for Boulton, how anyone with even the tiniest brain could see it any other way is beyond me. Cote landed nothing in this one but I usually like his free swinging style

Posted by mikebflorida on January 22, 2009 at 09:31 AM

This is a perfect example of two guys on opposite paths. Boulton has improved alot over the last couple of years. Cote has dropped like a stone, defensive, not throwing as much, and fighting a different style and losing all the time. Win Boulton.

Posted by SirYohans on January 25, 2009 at 05:35 PM

Damn, I was rooting for Cote here as much as I dislike Boulton. But Boulton landed some really heavy shots to end this one. Win Boulton, OUCH!

Posted by dunno on January 23, 2009 at 03:18 AM

"I guess nice job from Cote to hang in there but he didn't land much. Then again neither did Boulton. " -- to the person who quoted that. you must be missing something cause Boulton landed quite a few. take a break from voting. boulton gets the win

Posted by b.t.wilson on January 21, 2009 at 10:05 PM

I freakin' love Cote man, win or lose, he fights with so much energy and is always exciting. Win to Boulton in this one though.

Posted by basil73 on January 22, 2009 at 10:05 AM

I totally agree with you, Fults. I am a hockey writer and always at the Rangers games at the Garden. So when the Flyers come, I always see Cote acting all weird during the warm ups not even trying to touch the puck and just going in circles with a face of a terminator. What is the damn poin to keep a "hockey player" like that on the team? And he is NOT a great fighter either!!! Clear win Bolt

Posted by rusheetinme on January 22, 2009 at 08:19 PM

Cote is a gamer. He will throw with anyone, but god has he won a fight this year? Everytime he fights he throws a ton of punches, but the other guy throws just as many and most land squarely on his face. Cote's face looks like a pepperoni pizza with all the welts.

Posted by mitcho on January 26, 2009 at 10:25 AM

cote looked like he was trying to give boulton nuggies instead of punches. what an over-hyped loser.

Posted by staceyb on January 22, 2009 at 05:52 AM

Cote is a disappointment who should spend a week with another southpaw Donald Brashear to learn how to fight in close. He started off well but Boulton just outsmarted him and landed some shots. Every time Cote had an opening he didn't take it.

Posted by adambomb13 on January 22, 2009 at 09:52 AM

Plain and simple for all the simple minds out there, Boulton gets the "W". Boulton does indeed get "real close" in the 1st half and then lets them go in the 2nd half. Cote loves to start swinging right away and you have to wait him out or he'll tag you a thousand times before you get anything going and then it''s too late.

Posted by sjmckenz1 on January 28, 2009 at 10:08 AM

another clear loss for COTEX !! he is such a human punching bag. Philly should get rid of his dead ass !

Posted by bruins rule on January 21, 2009 at 10:38 PM

boulton started out slow but came on strong for the win.

Posted by McCunn8585 on January 22, 2009 at 08:47 AM

Good fight. Edge to Boulton good job of slipping right hand out of jersey.

Posted by BSTnougat on January 22, 2009 at 08:23 PM

I love Riley to death, but he just doesnt win fights anymore. We need to get a guy who can either fight better, play better, or preferably, both. Once again, love him, but he just isn't getting the job done anymore. By the way, I looked through every comment on this fight and i didnt see one flyer fan saying cote won. So you can shove the homer comments up your ass.

a fine fight eric got loose and fed him a few hand sandwiches i am a flyers fan since the bully days so i see fights a little diffrent from then to now i try to be objective as possible with hockey fights .com i dont think cote is a top enforcer but he is young fighter and still can learn... he will fight any one any time he`s looking for his approach as of yet and he`s an honest fighter not like that asshole brasher and i know he is into ultamate fighting and martial arts it dse not seem to be any benefit yet ha ...ha....

Posted by Sobrien on January 22, 2009 at 10:00 PM

Cote needs to go back to the way he fought at the beginning of his NHL career like he did at the beginning of the month against Parros and Deveux, drop em and throw em. This waiting around crap rarely ever works in his favor

Posted by kmd19 on January 22, 2009 at 11:36 AM

Great fight. Excellent job by Boulton to stay composed and then bring on the pain in the end. Nice back forth exchange but Boulton gets the win for coming on strong in the second half.

Posted by shedthemitts on January 22, 2009 at 02:27 PM

Boulton simply manhandled Cote here. Anyone who voted for a draw or win Cote would more than likely suck Cote's crank if given half a chance. Retarded homers.

Posted by Johnny8242 on January 22, 2009 at 02:17 PM

Boulton out last Cote , wins with attack of hits.

Posted by rusty696 on January 23, 2009 at 12:43 AM

Cote may not be the best fighter in the league, but he is dam near the best to watch, even though he mostly looses he sure isn't afraid to get hit, and you gotta admire that!

Posted by joaquin on January 26, 2009 at 05:08 AM

Posted by chl37 on January 22, 2009 at 08:00 AM

convincing win for boulton. gotta love cote's fearlessness, heart and chin, but a loss is a loss. and whats with the logic of voting a win for your favorite team's player on the only basis that its your favorite team. granted there will be some bias in voting as always, but thats just plain stupid.

Posted by apollo13jim on January 22, 2009 at 07:54 PM

Cote could have done better if he would stop pulling the jersey and THROW PUNCHES!

Posted by powerball on January 22, 2009 at 07:26 PM

cote got his ass kicked/ again

Posted by woodape on January 22, 2009 at 01:43 PM

Cote continues to lose fights. I now think he was overrated as a fighter and really belongs in the AHL. Boulton showed patience and stamina and dominated the end of this fight. He landed one great punch on Cote and I was surprised Cote remained standing. Cote does have a great chin...he is going to need it if he keeps losing.

Posted by firefightnchuck on February 16, 2009 at 04:38 PM

Posted by Snot-Bubbler on January 22, 2009 at 07:52 AM

Cote has definitely improved over the past couple of years, but still has trouble. Can't see him lasting too much longer in the league. He may get hurt or knocked out this year.....its just a matter of time.

Posted by Swengelton on January 27, 2009 at 10:29 PM

Nice shots from Boulton. Would've loved to see the refs leave it alone till it went to the ice.

Great job by Boulton. He did the most punching and connections.

Posted by Andyman on January 22, 2009 at 08:40 PM

Boults dominated this fight. Cote had problems landing punches. Loved the pat on the back from Boults on Cote after the officials stopped it.

Posted by chadwickallen79 on January 22, 2009 at 03:18 PM

I'm a huge Flyers fan but the Homer comments do not apply to me. I have no problem giving respect where it is due. Wether it's about a fight or the skill level of an opposing player. If someone is good they are good, thats it. As for this fight Cote caught an ass woopin and he does seem to lose alot more than he wins. Bolt had the reach advantage and he used it.

Posted by CrossCheck on January 22, 2009 at 05:56 PM

Riley Kotex needs a kotex, I don't know how many more punches he can take to the face this season, but heck I'd love to unload on him too, it looks like a lot of fun. You FLyers homers need to grab your ankles and wait for the big Lebowski where the sun don't shine...how the fuuck can you even suggest Kotex won....wtf?

Posted by Clark75 on January 27, 2009 at 09:33 AM

Boulton wins this one. Once he got that right arm under the jersey it was over for Cote. mcb789, your kind aren't welcome here. Stay on youtube loser!

Posted by guas99 on January 22, 2009 at 02:20 PM

The only reason boulton got anything going was b/c his arm came out of his jersey and there is no way to lock him up. If this happen to anyone in a fight you will lose. If you can't grab a guys throwing arm you are #ucked.

First, I am a die hard Flyers fan. Second, I love Cote but he is embarrassing the Orange and Black. He is a gamer and takes all that come his way but bottom line, he's just not a good fighter. Reminds me of Parros as I think he is also horrible but still a gamer. Sure Cote gets a win here and there but for the most part, he is painful to watch. Please Flyers, get a real heavy weight or fill the spot with a good player. I love you Cote but it's time to move on!

Posted by Fults on January 22, 2009 at 08:12 AM

Cote will be selling mini-donuts in a year or two. Goon won't even skate with his team, skates by himself to syke himself up for a fight. At least give the perception that you're a hockey player. Philly fans will cheer for anything.

For as much as Cote fights, you'd think he'd be better at it than he shows. I like the fact that he's willing to take punches, but he never really damages his opponent. Like in this fight, the only thing Boulton hurt was his hand.

The Punching bag at his best!!! What a loser. Quit Cote. Mcb789 is a total inbred moron who should be banned. Nuetered to so he doesn't breed. No hope for the Flyers as Klotz got his face bashed in in teh AHL. They suck at all levels

Not a Flyer fan here, but not a Philly hater either. Most objective comments thus far were posted by 'holydrums'. To paraphrase, Riley is a middleweight trying to be a heavyweight. It's not working. For those quick to criticize him, please know that Riley Cote donated 10K to help start an inner city youth hockey program here in Camden. He also spent nearly as much this past Christmas buying Holiday Turkeys for the poor. Bottom line is tha the is willing to get his face punched in so that he can be a philanthropist. How do you not respect a man with this kind of heart and honor ?

Good scrap for Boulton. Win goes to him.

Is Cote hurt? More defense then usual.

Great move by Boulton getting his arm loose under the jersey, and then he landed most of the shots. Simply, win Boulton. Btw, Cote never win if he doesnt get at toe to toe scrap. At that, he's really good!

Not close. Win Boulton.

I'd give the win to Boulton. As much as a Flyers fan that I am, I know I see Cote lose on a regular basis. Personally I'd rather have Gratton then Cote.
