What is this fight doing getting rated a 9? Did anyone else see the mystified look in Donald's eyes when he realized he might actually have to throw with someone rather than just hug them to death. Donald landed a couple good shots, Shelly got a few as well, but a good majority of it was punching in the back of the helmet, or a typical Brashear (albeit this time it was only attempted) hug fest. Draw. Donald can't full on win a fight anymore. No matter who he fights, all he's going for is the huggie tie-up. Shelly made him throw, and that offsets the fact that Donald landed more in this fight.

Great fight but it was hard to decide. In regards to the punches exchanged; Brashear had more quantity than quality, and Shelley had more quality than quantity. DRAW, but enjoyable to watch.

I give it to Brashear but only by a little bit. A draw would also be fair. But what really impresses me is Shelley this year, who really has made a comeback and looks ten years younger. Way to go Jody!

Great fight, fought with aheavy mutual respect for each others'abilities. Edge Brash for the punch down at the end when he finally got his left free, but Frankenstein also knocked him back in his tracks at least 3 times earlier on in the bout.

Good scrap with a nice, old school toe to toe exchange in the middle. Slight edge to Donnie, but a good performance by both.

Another great fight from Shelley (Go Sharks). Brashear was even a little better. Besides the flurry of punches from Brashear I think that the best thing that he did was tie up the right hand of Shelley. Everyone knows if Shelley's right gets free you are getting punched in the side of the head until you kiss the ice.

Bahahahaha... that was for some of the crybabies out threre. Okay the fight, it was awesome. Shelley comes in around the back of the net behind the goal line to finish a check on Brashear. Jody gives him a good bump against the boards and Brash gives Shelley a few words. Sure enough, instant yard sale. They dance about for a bit and then lock up. They trade a few shots, and it looks like Shelley gets the better shots in. Then all of a sudden they just start throwing em, punch for punch. Shelley's punches land more, but Brash gets fewer but harder hits in. They tie up some more and Brash beats the hell out of Shelley's helmet, Jody lands a couple more and in the process Brash lands a bomber to Jody's beak bloodying it. Brash takes Shelley to the ice. Great fight, Brashear gets the nod. The rest of the Sharks pound the rest of the Caps!

FOTY candidate for sure. I always thought Jody Shelley was a gamer throughout his career. I'm extremely impressed the way he handled Brashear. Although he didn't throw as many as Brash did, the punches he threw were extremely accurate and meaningful. There were two rights that Shelley threw at two separate occasions that caused Brashear to double back. I've never been a Brashear fan, nor will I ever consider it, but he has refined his game throughout the years. For the so called "heavyweight champ", he is way too predictable. He always tries to man-handle his guy in the beginning, then he throws the quick left rabbit-punches. If the punch output doesn't overwhelm his opponent, then it's on to the hugging and the huge overhand punches that end up on the back of the helmet. Brash caught Shelley with a nice punch at the end, but Shelley lost his balance causing him to hit the ice. Excellent fight for both guys. I'm pretty sure if there ever is a rematch in the future, it'll be just as exciting.

What a great battle! Brashear started and finished strong, taking Shelly down at the end. I loved the toe to toe punching in the middle of the fight. I give the linesmen credit for letting them go. I'm thinking that they might have not wanted to get in the middle too quickly either. Shelly deserves all the credit in the world but Brashear wins it with a strong start and finish. Very close bout.

First thought Shelley had Brash. Halfway through, Shelley rocked Brashear with a great shot....Jody seemed to let up a bit after that, maybe thinking Brahs was done, and just held on. Brash switched his grip and grabbed on and I thought it was over, but the linesmen didn't come in. Brash got him good with a couple of shots and Jody went down. Watched it in HD...man what a tough way to make a living! Got to respect all fighters, win or lose, 'cause showing up means risking your life!

I tend to give decisions to the guy who lands the biggest shots. And while Brashear landed a lot of pitty pat shots, Shelley had the two biggest punches of the fight. The overhand left early in the fight that stopped Brashear's barrage in it's tracks and took much of the starch out of the rest of his punches, and the quick hard right midway thru that was really the last punch anyone landed with authority.
