OMG, the commentator actually said that erskine won that fight, holy crap, I thought he just thinks that Boston wins every fight all the time. One step forward for him.

Posted by homeland on March 05, 2009 at 11:35 AM

Erksine gets the win, but I dont think it was as lopsided as many others do. It was close right up until the end

Posted by BigRob1 on January 04, 2008 at 12:46 PM

I love this "kid"Lucic how good will he become if he stays healthy?? Havent seen him lose a in a bad way yet. Tough heavy weight.

Posted by Bonecrusher1976 on January 04, 2008 at 07:36 AM

Finally Lucic loses a fight. Still got to love this guy.

Posted by camorr on November 24, 2008 at 09:37 PM

lucic nose was already broken when he went face first into the boards in philly. this was his 1st fight after that so i think he was worried about breaking it again. never a good idea going into a fight worring about breaking your nose. he also struggles against brookbank and gleason. but he is back to his normal self now. in 2 years he will score 30 and be the champ!

Posted by Clark75 on January 04, 2008 at 08:11 PM

WOW, didn't think Lucic would lose this one. I think this is his first loss in the NHL. He rarely loses. I'm sure Erskine's head is swollen today......from the win.

Posted by JayMiller29 on January 05, 2008 at 11:12 AM

Lucic winning streak is over.....had to happen eventually. Hopefully he bounces right back. This kid is great to watch.

Posted by dead_golem on January 05, 2008 at 11:04 AM

I think Erskine surprised Lucic here a bit, they were both sizing each other up and doing the dance, then when Erskine came he came full speed and maybe caught Lucic off guard. He hung in there for awhile, but fortunately for Erskine, never got a real good land on any of his counters. Erskine gets his jersey loose and throws a big right that looks like it misses on the NESN feed and Lucic overbalances and falls down. I hear tell that on the caps videos that right seems to land, but in any case, while this is a win for Erskine, I don't see it as a TKO by any stretch. Later in the game Lucic finishes a pretty good check in the corner on Erskine. I had some hope of a rematch, but it never happened. By the way, where the hell is Thornton? Why is this guy in the lineup? I'd say Erskine is probably out of Reich's league, and Hnidy just got here, but it sure seems like they're leaving all the fighting to Lucic. I love him, and this is the first fight I'd say was a clear loss (maybe the Ivanans one), but he's 19 and someone else should be helping him out here.

KD win Erskine...stunned Lucic and staggered him

Posted by Richterfan on January 05, 2008 at 02:47 PM

TKO win for Erskine he clearly lands a two big right hands that stun Lucic. Like the rest of the board here, I gotta lotta love for Lucic. Promising kid who also has a great attitude towards the game.

TKO win for erskine...lucic down

Posted by hockey doc on January 04, 2008 at 08:08 AM

close fight, Erkine gets the win, landed the betterof the punches.

Posted by dromano13 on January 05, 2008 at 05:29 PM

Lucic got whacked. Typical Boston wuss!

Posted by the4thliner on January 06, 2008 at 08:31 PM

Erskine all the way in this quick hitter...

Posted by Poop Jack Pappy on January 05, 2008 at 10:58 AM

Erskine nails Lucic at the end. I wish the Stars still had Erskine. Winner Erskine

Posted by droppingbombs on January 05, 2008 at 08:41 AM

Hey perezJ! Where has anyone said Lucic is a top heavyweight? He isn't a goon. Thats not why he is on the roster at 19. Thornton and Reich should be fighting the heavyweights. This kid can handle himself, for sure. But people are getting carried away. He isn't here to fight the McGrattons, Brasheers, Peters, Boog's of the NHL. He has potential to do much more than fight goons.

Posted by Goon24 on January 05, 2008 at 12:41 AM

hahaha lucic with a loss

Posted by fiskewarrior33 on April 14, 2009 at 12:36 PM

He got the knockdown so yes he did win. but not like lucic got owned

Posted by shrk33 on January 06, 2008 at 06:19 PM

Erskine wins, I thought it would be a closer fight the way Lucic has handled himself this season.

Posted by wallysy1 on January 06, 2008 at 10:23 AM

knockout Good to see this bruin get knocked out. Boston fans are the 2nd worst behind Senator fans. And no doubt.. (I havent checked yet) some boston fans will have lucic winning this. thats the way they are---not fair....which is never a good quality.

Posted by kcmuhr on January 05, 2008 at 11:22 AM

Nice to show the coach that you still have that fire to go out and make it known. Good job of both taking and throwing, looked like Lucic took a good shot at the end that made his knees buckle. Winner Erskine.

Posted by Dovermv on January 08, 2008 at 07:37 PM

Erskine won this fight hands down and when people make up excuses why Lucic lost makes it look like they are dating him. In any fight someone could say " he lost because... Or he would have won if...” I have been waiting for Lucic to fight a bigger fighter to see what he has. He is not as good as people thought. Erskine has a few fights under his belt but is still not a feared heavy. However Lucic is a young kid and when he fills out he might be dangerous.

Posted by Gunslinger on January 05, 2008 at 09:12 AM

Lucic lost his balance more than anything but a good fight for Erskine. I love Lucic and we all have to loose sometime.

Posted by rebjjjjj on January 04, 2008 at 08:11 PM

nice scrap... ive been waiting for lucic to lose a scrap.. haha NICE SCRAP between the two.

Posted by slav on January 04, 2008 at 05:28 PM

Lucic has been good this year but Erskine gave him a lesson. Nice TKO for Erskine.

Posted by Louutah on January 04, 2008 at 10:43 PM

Reminded me of back in the day when Erskine was tuning up guys in the AHL here in SLC for the Grizzlies....good to see him back playing tough.

Posted by J.R. Abel on March 05, 2008 at 11:49 AM

Down goes Lucic! See what happens when you fight guys in the same weight class as you.

Posted by blazers76 on January 04, 2008 at 12:48 PM

Good scrap. Thought Erskine looking suprisingly good in this bout. Have to give Lucic credit though. In a few years he will be a killer!! Hope to see a couple more dandies!!

Posted by Jointman on January 04, 2008 at 05:15 AM

win Erskine

Posted by SCOTTSO on January 04, 2008 at 07:41 AM

ONE OF THE LEAGUES MOST UNDERRATED FIGHTERS IS BIG ERSK,EASY WIN

Posted by dansal55 on January 06, 2008 at 10:07 PM

Erskine clearly handled Lucic. There's been a Lucic groundswell on the site, and for good reason. But he's done it against guys I wouldn't call heavyweights. He moves up in class and gets served. I'd like to see more footage, but it looked like he was covering up on the ice at the end in a way that doesn't look all that manly. Kind of like, "Please stop pounding my face with your fists. It really hurts." Somebody voted for Lucic, apparently Momma Lucic. He lives to fight again, we'll see where Milan goes from here. Oh, and the B's announcers were really getting jazzed about Lucic in his previous fights. Didn't sound like it this time. Erskine would get about 10 consecutive starts after this one if I was coaching the Caps.

Posted by mm1160 on January 05, 2008 at 09:06 AM

One thing Lucic does right now is fight old school. He doesn't worry a lot about getting a good hold of the other guy, he just grabs what he can and starts throwing. With that approach, you are going to get caught at times, and he did. Erskine actually has had a rep for being able to stand up for himself, he just hasn't played in the NHL enough to show it. Plenty of minor league scraps...he is a good fighter, not great by any stretch. Lucic will have no problem coming back from this...every fighter has had his bell rung a few times.

Posted by vrodack on January 05, 2008 at 02:30 AM

Big win for Erskine

Posted by BattleAxe13 on January 06, 2008 at 06:07 PM

Wow I thought Lucic was gonna kill him, I didn't realize Erskine could fight. He did some damage.

Posted by SirYohans on January 04, 2008 at 03:29 PM

This was a very even bout until the last right that Erskine threw which seemed to really hurt Lucic. U can clearly see that Erskine's strap had come loose and his big right hand was totally loose. I'm not saying Erskine cheated or anything but he was at a clear advantage. Maybe refs should jump in sooner when this happens because a guy can get really hurt.

Posted by bostonrs555 on January 06, 2008 at 04:15 AM

Lucic lost most of the respect he made for himself this year!!!!!! Because when your hurt it in a fight you don't just lay down!!!! Which is what Lucic did, sorry kid, but you don't have what it takes to be an NHL Heavyweight!!!!!!!

Posted by kingpintoo on January 15, 2008 at 12:23 AM

Well Lucic can throw with the best but now we know he can't take a punch at all. Just like most Italian fighters. KO for Erskine.

Posted by hedrack78 on January 04, 2008 at 11:30 AM

Wow !!! Good job by Erskine.

Posted by nox240 on February 19, 2008 at 11:26 AM

Erskine landed a bomb to the skull that staggered Lucic. i remember when he was in the Dallas Stars farm team, no one would fight him lol. He used to be a customer of mine and I understand why.

Posted by tattooedkingpin on April 02, 2009 at 09:09 AM

Nice fight by Erskine

Posted by BAAAAANNERMAAAN on August 21, 2009 at 04:52 PM

The reason Lucy won't fight any top HW's anymore is right here

Posted by hal29 on March 23, 2009 at 07:13 PM

one it wasn't a tko and to if you even watched the bruins game lucic suffered a broken nose a few games before erskine didn't brake it,it was already broken.pay attention.and when erskine landed those punches they were a little twisted and were throwing hay makers.hey makers can knock anyone down those punches are luck.lets see how erskine does now,see lucic has exsperience.watch the fight again people erskine did get thewin but not even close to a beat down, watch it again it was good back and fourth and erskine landed two at the end then lucic went down, but not from a punch..lol,you guys are such haters its rediculous...no tko you dumbass, learn what a tko is!!!

Posted by theboss on January 31, 2010 at 05:58 PM

Great job Erskine!

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on February 08, 2013 at 06:41 PM

Lucic is one of my favorites and I may look at some fights with a bit of bias, but in this particular bout Erskine destroyed him. TKO!

Posted by Transitcaptd8 on February 21, 2013 at 06:15 PM

Big John with the win. Can't wait for these two to dance again.

Posted by danplopp on January 26, 2014 at 02:22 PM

Posted by cashman rules on January 05, 2008 at 10:28 AM

Good showing by lucic against a much seasoned fighter like erskine.

Posted by Big_Goon on January 04, 2008 at 03:04 PM

Great showing by Lucic. He landed some heavy punches, but Erskine hit him on the botton and put him to the ice. Lucic played a great game last night and I see him being in the league for a long time with his skills and heart. Win Erskine. ***For the Boston fan that said Lucic went down on his own... First, Erskine's tie down broke. Second, on the Washington feed you could see Erskine land a SOLID right to Lucic's nose that put him DOWN. Then they had a shot of Lucic in the box adjusting his nose (not sure if it was broken or not). ***

Good Fight ...Erskine kicked butt, Props to the Rookie though, Lucic is a great fighter !!

Posted by canada bomber on January 08, 2008 at 09:34 PM

yur all forgetting erskine is not a rookie when it comes to fighting his been fighting since fighting was invented lucic couldnt of played out that fight any better just took a hard shot which happens when u stick ur chin out there... signs of toughness this fight really gained respect from me for lucic which i had none for prior to the fight

Good win for the Terminator coming back after being staggered a bit. Love to see the quick skate off is still in effect. Win = Erskine

Posted by Stretch on January 05, 2008 at 09:15 PM

Pretty impressive for a 19 year old. No shame in losing to Erskine

Posted by mailman1194 on January 05, 2008 at 08:44 AM

Now that is how big boys throw down. I felt it was a great fight and that's how it needs to be done. I hated to see Lucic lose, but Erskine showed why he should be in the line up. I'm just glad that if Lucic was going to lose, it was from punches thrown and not a wrestling match. I don't think this loss should hurt Lucic in any way. He's still in top five for this season and the bright spot for the Bruins.

Posted by cheetham_8 on January 04, 2008 at 04:21 PM

Erskine just brings the heat and keeps throwing. Too bad Lucic had to take so many, but he will learn.

Posted by buddha on January 05, 2008 at 08:04 AM

I love Lucic, but Erksine got the best of him in this bout. It wasn't even close.

Posted by brazos on January 04, 2008 at 07:55 AM

A good toe to toe opening with each throwing 4 right hands most of which land, then Erskine throws an overhand right flush to Lucic's face, Lucic then starts ducking ,he takes another on top of the head and another flush to the face which puts him on the ice covering his head. Erskine was a clear winner. For all the hype about Lucic he did not fare well in this bout ,but give him credit for standing up and throwing them and not doing the usual (in these days) hugging and wrestling.

Posted by DetroitIan on January 04, 2008 at 07:05 AM

Finally Lucic loses a fight. Great job by Erskine.

Posted by CAPSxV3N0Mx on January 06, 2008 at 04:37 PM

brashear and the caps have been staying away from the heavyweights recently so erskine steps up after being scratched for some time and gives it to lucic... win erskine.

Posted by LBFAN on January 04, 2008 at 06:26 PM

Great fight. I'm a huge Lucic fan, but Erskine took him to school on this one. I think that big boy needs fights like this to get some good experience. I also think he might have underestimated Erskine b/c he looked genuinely surprised to get his bell rung. Any Bruins fan who gives this fight to Lucic gives us a bad name.

Posted by qmchugh on January 05, 2008 at 08:56 AM

Erskine wins with takedown, but fight was very close. Disclaimer: I'm a B's fan, but I really didn't see the fight being lopsided. A lot of big punches from both sides and Erskine gets the nod with the finish.

Posted by jnickmaster on March 08, 2008 at 02:15 AM

Lucic got his arrrs kicked - Erskine beat him badly.....

Posted by skipjack fan on December 31, 2008 at 10:48 PM

as a caps fan i love john erskine.hope he plays a few more years in washington.he hasnt won every fight but i think he is respected in the league

Erskine

Posted by CitizenKein on January 04, 2008 at 06:14 AM

That's only the second loss for Lucic in his 9 fights in NHL. There were some heavy bombs thrown, really a great fight.

Posted by Buckster on January 04, 2008 at 02:11 PM

Great scrap, win Erskine. Like many young heavyweights it will be interesting to see how quick Lucic is willing to get back on the bike now that he's really taken a few on the chin.

Posted by mikebflorida on January 04, 2008 at 02:55 PM

Great fight. Not real long but very decisive and entertaining. Lucic is human after all. Erskine is a monster who can obviously take a punch and throws back with intent to mame. No shame in Milan losing to him. By the way, who is the dumb ass that voted for Lucic. Move out of mom's basement and get a clue dude.

Posted by oakley on January 04, 2008 at 07:31 AM

Erskine in this one. Great shots thrown by Lucic early but Erskine hurts him in the end. Or maybe Lucic gets hurt from his own helmet ricocheting off of his head?

Posted by xProbertx on January 04, 2008 at 05:19 AM

erskine with the easy win,i love this lucic kid but this kinda shows what its like when he goes with the big boys, erskine was just too much for lucic although A+ for heart on ml part, i love his willingness.

Posted by TheBull on January 10, 2008 at 08:59 AM

Posted by Adambruinsfan on March 20, 2008 at 10:41 PM

Erskine with the win. He broke Lucic's nose in this one.

Posted by perezj on January 04, 2008 at 09:41 PM

Good to see Lucic get his ass kicked. They way these hometown announcers were talking about this guy ,he is the second coming of Behn Wilson. He got hammered right on the beak- I love it.....

Posted by Afroboy34r on January 05, 2008 at 11:39 AM

What a bunch of aholes for giving the win to Lucic.

Posted by tormakesmelaugh on January 04, 2008 at 03:37 PM

Win Erksine but only cuz the arm came out of the jersey. I have to say today is the first fight i have seen of Lucic...and he is right up there with Mcgrattan for entertainment..I watched all his fights they have on youtube..what a tough kid..I think the league has someone to keep there eye on..give him a few more years and look out..Good win for the veteran here..great open fight..love watching these ones

Posted by CocoQuaker7 on March 10, 2008 at 12:23 PM

What happened to Happy Jack Edwards? He wasn't as excited as usual.....maybe because Lucic lost (which is rare....he's a stud) and maybe because he didn't have much to exaggerate.

Posted by penguinsfan123 on January 04, 2008 at 01:30 PM

what aholes gave lucic the win

Posted by rocky7482 on January 04, 2008 at 09:02 PM

Posted by Leafs2006 on January 05, 2008 at 07:31 AM

Erskine is a big guy, older and stronger than Milan, Milan will develope though, give him time. Win Erskine. Lets hope Milan takes some aggression when the Bruins play the Ottawa "Seniorita's", id love to see him lay out the " one toothed bully who only picks on guys under 200 lbs, Neil. I think Neil still has 1 tooth left, maybe Brash knocked it out last week, im unsure.

Posted by Lucicmaniac on September 23, 2008 at 02:38 AM

wow........seriously? Lucic totally won that fight....erskine got one shot at the end...thats about it! Lucic was pounding erskine the whole fight!!!

Posted by Juha82 on January 04, 2008 at 05:47 AM

Lucic did pretty well as he was clearly younger than Erskine who has been some time in the NHL for the enforcer. But Erskine took it at the end. He did have land the jharder shots here. A narrow win for Erskine in very good bout.

Posted by Riomouse911 on October 20, 2010 at 10:26 AM

See what happens when you fight someone who can fight there, Milan? Hurts, don't it?

Posted by thepuckdangler on January 04, 2008 at 01:34 PM

Erskine loses this one on a technicality....he didnt have his rear strap attached or it is longer than usual which is a huge advantage. I saw the fight live/in person and noticed this. Too bad the refs let that crap go. After Lucic pummelled him 3 or 4 times, Lucic ends up holding a handful of jersey and Erskines right hand is free. After taking a couple of shots, Lucic realizes Erskines jersey is off and goes down.
