Penner just stinks at fighting. Got whooped for fighting after his teammate took a clean hit

Who is running the Kings conditioning these days? Jesus that sweater looks tight on Paneer...and Doughty...tank

Posted by Bigford83 on October 16, 2011 at 01:43 AM

Clean & LEGAL hit, really no need for a fight here, but I guess Penner gets a stick tap for sticking up for the 8 Million Dollar Man.

The fight part was an absolute waste of time but the video is still worthwhile just to watch Rino stand him up and sit him down.

Posted by DARCY T on October 16, 2011 at 04:56 AM

i think penner landed 2 and rinaldo 1...draw nonetheless

It's nice to finally see Penner do something for his team.

Apparently an absurdly large amount of money doesn't make you any tougher or keep you on your skates. Interesting to know.

He defininetly left his feet and credit to Penner for sticking up for a teammate. Rinaldo is a punk and one of these days he will gewt his clock rung. Draw! in a cheesy scrap. How did Rinaldo get the better votes for this fight. Did you guys judge him on the hit or that pathetic fight. I would give edge to Penner but deserves nothing more than a draw. Penner hung in there for the 5 seconds this fight had lasted and he isn't even a fighter. Expected better from Rinaldo if he is going to be called the Philly's tough guy. Can't say to much for Rinaldo's role as he did not look like no tough guy here. As for the hit yeah it was hard, but he clearly left his feet. So it is legal to jump to hit someone now??? Understand that we don'yt want to take hitting out of the game but it is a minor penalty. As for not resulting in a fight.....HA!!!! Everthing should result in a fight. Hell if you watch the 60's 70's 80's,90' and 00's 2hy should it change now. You always stick up for a teammate regardless the severity of the hit. It is to make a point.

not much going on here.

DP standing up for his teammate...kudos to him, even though he's not skilled at fighting. The hit on Drew looked clean, but still, an big attaboy for Penner's effort. He didn't do squat for L.A. last year.

No fight...too bad...these boys might have put on a good show.

Posted by LA KING FANATIC on October 17, 2011 at 06:00 PM

Clean hit but I would have jumped him as well, You don't tug on superman's cape and ya don't mess around with Drew. Lots of zeros being hit by an overmuscled ZERO is going to draw a retaliation everytime, He did leave his feet going from low to high but it was a shoulder on chest hit. Drew popped up and skated off, even took a turn after but it appeared his shoulder was tweaked.

Win Rinaldo after a nice clean hit.

Great well-timed hit, on a guy,who was, as StaceyB perfectly put it... '' making like Bobby Orr''. ''Senator...I knew Bobby Orr, and you sir...are no Bobby Orr''. He's also right on the money about Penner's role in ''what little happened'' afterwards.

Posted by tim13 on October 18, 2011 at 09:15 AM

Wallop! What a hit by Rinaldo, who is just a ticking timebomb waiting to explode at any moment. Not much of a fight, but a slight edge to Rinaldo, combined with the great hit is enough to get him the win in my book.

Posted by staceyb on October 16, 2011 at 06:47 AM

That'll teach Doughty from making like Bobby Orr by cruising into the attack zone and figuring no one would ever touch him because of his $56 million contract. He ran into a mobile brick wall named Zac Rinaldo and was laid out like road kill. Kudos to Penner for going after Rinaldo--without success--something that Westgarth is on the payroll to do. Westy tried to engage Zac later.

What Oil Can Henry said.

Posted by tonetone1 on October 16, 2011 at 02:20 AM

two solid punches landed by Rinaldo, and he's alot smaller than Penner. Rinaldo FTW.

Posted by EDDUBBS on October 16, 2011 at 04:47 AM

Rinaldo with clean hard hit. Penner wanted to be hero and got his ass kicked.

Posted by ETHREE on October 16, 2011 at 11:30 AM

CLEAN HIT. Rinaldo destroys poor ole Doughty and Penner didn't like it. Again clean hit, thats what hockey is all about and unfortunately Doughty was hurt on the play but never the less, this is why we love it. So all of you Flyer's haters and Rinaldo whiners get used to it. Rinaldo did not leave his feet until after, and anyways Rinaldo is half the size of either of those two. So Rinaldo = new age Theo Fleury, and has all but guaranteed a roster spot for the remainder of the season. Look at his stats in the minors. (50 gp 40 pts and 350 pim. estimated) Get used to him.

Great hit . Checking must be illegal in the "New" NHL . A shame .

DRAW

Posted by Oil Can Henry on October 16, 2011 at 11:36 AM

...it was a NICE, CLEAN, HARD CHECK -- why does EVERY hit now, have to be analyzed and scrutinized? -- the sport's been tamed-down and sissified ENOUGH already! Pretty-soon they'll be wearin' skirts for god's sake!

Posted by chad420 on October 20, 2011 at 02:05 PM

Take a seat

Posted by kkdowning on October 16, 2011 at 04:18 PM

Not much of a fight, draw and a 3. Good hit (maybe left his feet a bit), shouldn't have resulted in a fight

Posted by BobGassoffFan on December 29, 2011 at 06:09 AM

Hey Doughty, keep your head up!!!

Posted by mudman55 on October 16, 2011 at 09:26 AM

Shawn Thornton quote to Zac Rinaldo: "Enjoy your fun and games, kid, you'll be back in the minors next week."
