Carkner lands a surprise opening shot off the top
and, as a result, establishes a solid grip on Godard's right.

He then capitalizes on the success of this stategey
by continually keeping the Champ off balance
and reducing him to being incapable of throwing
anything but ineffective lefts.

To Godard's credit, that major bomb in the middle
would have dropped most other fighters in the league.

Smart fight by a guy that I thought was going to get seriously KO'd.

It looked like Carkner really stung Godard with that right but Godard came right back, blood and all. Of greater note was the win by Sens and one of the best goaltending performances of the year by Brian Elliott.

that surprised me, when I saw this fight posted, I thought I was going to see Godard take the decision, but I was dead wrong. Carkner catches him good. Godard is usually a beast and this should have been a match up he won, but too many healthy scratches as Rupp and Engelland seem to get most of the work. He looks rusty.

I agree with 'Sedinfan' that Godard is perhaps rusty after all the healthy scratches...
Props to Carkner for timing a beauty and Godard for a great chin.
Godard comes back with a few lefts but not enough to squeeze out a draw.
Win Carkner.
Good job boys !

Carkner is fearless.....Godard can hurt you but like with Boogy Matt went on the offence and it served him well has he caught Eric with a bomb....cudo's to Godard for taking the shot and staying on his feet

Good scrap....gotta give it to Carkner(Quality of shots) even tho I now hate him after the Boogey Flicking incident....The guys an Idiot but HE CAN FIGHT!!!!!!
fter hearing about the orbital bone my respect for Godard GROWS Cause he was chucking rt till the end!!!!
As far as Rusty goes......i don't think so....Carkner is a Big tuff Mofo who has been chuckin for years and has some big win's over some mean dude's.....we need to give credit when its due!!!!!! I still don't like him!!!!

Win to Carkner in a close fight. I've had Godard ranked as one of the best in the league for a few years now, most "heavyweights" stay away from him, but Carkner was a gamer and he landed a bomb. Rest of the fight was close and Godard threw more punches down the stretch but a definite win here for Carkner. Add Godard to the list of tough guys that Carkner has put on the DL with facial injuries/concussions. Matt Carkner is a tough hombre.

Godard came back pretty strong but the damage was already done. Win Carkner. Have to wonder though if Godard's strong comeback scared Carkner because later in the game Godard wanted round 2 and Carkner cowardly declined. Rupp and Engel also got in Carkners face and no response.

Great couple of punches by Carkner. Landed solidly and messed up Godard's face. Props to Godard for staying in the game. Win Carkner. Anyone who says Carkner was scared to fight Godard again is a complete assclown and should quit posting on this site. To say Carkner is a coward is complete BS. Get a clue Battleaxe, yngblonde.
