Lots of helmut shots in the beginning by Laperriere. Vandy was toying with him after that. Nice uppercut to the jaw by Vandy gives him the edge. Winner. Vandermeer

The last left by Vandy evened the fight.

Posted by chl37 on March 21, 2008 at 01:21 PM

i gotta call it a draw, but i could be wrong. all punches landing were laperrieres until one good one by vandermeeer at the end. agree vandemeer should have fought more when on flyers to make up for his defensive shortcomings. they could have used it.

Posted by mikebflorida on March 21, 2008 at 04:15 PM

Ok fight.......Ian in the first half, andy with the good shot in the 2nd. Draw.

Lappy started off great landing some unanswered rights. Vandy decided to go underneath & seemed to land a nice uppercut. It was a nice punch but I dunno about calling this a TKO. Yeah, the punch landed but Lappy was fine. This was not the same as what Godard did to Erskine. EDGE VANDY ANYWAY!

What happened ? Lapemere was getting off in the beginning, and then Vandermeer switched hands and Lapemere quit...did he get hit or just run out of gas ????

Posted by Humper on March 21, 2008 at 10:56 AM

Lots of punches thrown, but even so the fight never really got going. It also was stopped too soon. Gonna say draw.

Posted by ShuterMcGav on March 21, 2008 at 01:12 PM

Just cause all you piece of shit, bitter canadian hockey fans don't have him, don't hate on my boy Lappy. He is a scrapper, and if he played for your team you'd love him! So fuck you!

Posted by Habs44 on March 21, 2008 at 05:59 PM

Sceus me but its not vandermeer the winner of this fight. Thant was a Draw so if you right is vandermeer you don't no what is a hockey fight. IT WAS NOT A TKO.

Posted by megnlou06 on March 22, 2008 at 07:19 PM

Draw! van took way to many hits for me to give it to him for the buckleing of laper

Posted by lakingsfan19 on March 21, 2008 at 02:26 PM

i don'tthink it was a big uppercut or a knee buckler.. I say draw

Posted by Wildnutz on March 21, 2008 at 03:49 PM

Ian landed more punches and it is not conclusive he was knocked sill by a left.

Posted by Art24 on March 21, 2008 at 06:43 PM

Close fight. Bit of a crap one actually. Although Vandermeer got in the early punches it seemed to me that Laperriere controlled the fight.

Posted by trpaulson on March 21, 2008 at 12:26 PM

Vandy wins even though he let Lapuke land too many in the beginning. In the end Vandy swatted him like the bug Lapuke is.

Posted by The Peach on March 21, 2008 at 03:49 PM

nice uppercut by vandemeer. he played lazy then popped one in there. took the fight out of lappy in an instant.

Posted by SargentD on March 21, 2008 at 10:56 AM

Laperriere was way more active in the beginning as Vandermeer just waited for an opportunity to turn the table. Finally, after receiving several punches, Vandermeer got kind of free and caught Laperriere with a blow that, seems, made Lappy drop to the knees. If not a slip than a TKO for Vandermeer.

Posted by QUIGGS22 on March 22, 2008 at 03:10 PM

Poor Lappy !

Posted by mhuetter on March 21, 2008 at 11:41 PM

Habs44 get a clue. May not have been a TKO but that last shot stung Lappy. When the linesman came in he said nice shot and Vandy asked him if he was OK. Lappy said yes and skated away checking his face for damage.

Posted by narinsvy on March 23, 2008 at 12:43 PM

ian chicken out at the end

Posted by yoach on March 22, 2008 at 09:43 AM

Vandermeer gets this one late but im a little put off with him fixing his lid . is he psychic or just realized that getting hit in the helmet is better than the face ? he obviously knew his left uppercut was going to stun Lappy . i wonder if he can tell if im going to win the lottery next week ?

Posted by Sublimezx on March 21, 2008 at 12:02 PM

Stopped too soon? I dont think so! Vandermeer realized he hurt Laperriere and he stopped throwing. Like a true professional that he is, Van didnt continue trying to hurt. Lap also acknowledged that at the end. Get a clue people, thats a TKO for Jimmy V

Posted by MNBonecrusher on March 23, 2008 at 08:05 AM

Habs44 you are a complete MORON! Did you watch this fight? He dropped him to his knees!!

Posted by jim_young on March 21, 2008 at 07:45 PM

Wish I could have seen that last uppercut from a different angle. Looked to be a good one.

Posted by mandb97 on March 23, 2008 at 12:11 PM

Laperriere looked shaken up towards the end

Posted by Massive77 on March 29, 2008 at 08:52 AM

Upper cut by Vandermeer gets the win

Posted by billy jack on March 21, 2008 at 02:30 PM

that was a nice uppercut it buckled lappy real quick, give vandy credit he could of kept punching and hurt yappy even more.tko for vandy

Posted by Juha82 on July 19, 2008 at 01:05 PM

Lappy did very well against tougher guy. Lappy early but better late from Vandy. Vandermeer with a NARROW Win in good fight.

Posted by BROWN - KOCUR on March 21, 2008 at 01:12 PM

Where was this when Jimmy was in Philly ? All the guy did was make stupid to's in his own end game after game. He gets the win with the big shot at the end that hurt Lappy (see Lappy thank him) but WTH was that agression in Philly ?

Posted by Belak_33 on March 22, 2008 at 11:56 AM

Laperriere hasn't been doin much lately good to see him fight.

Posted by slshbleed on March 21, 2008 at 11:45 AM

This was a mismatch all the way. Laperriere is a tough guy, but Vandermeer can swing it will guys that are much bigger than he is. Vandermeer just waited until he got into a position to throw and buckled Laperriere. TKO.

Posted by corboy on March 21, 2008 at 02:01 PM

tko for Vandermeer. Laperriere was active early, but Vandy buckled him with the left uppercut. Laperriere did not slip, it was a legit knockdown.

Posted by Rebel Banker on March 21, 2008 at 06:55 PM

when did vandy get his balls back? i wish he found them before he left philly...usual vandy fight, take 2-3 shots to land 1 good one...kinda like the the fight with flynn, you don't really see a big punch but the guy goes down and your like what happened... class move not to pound the guy while he was done

Posted by Sasky001 on March 21, 2008 at 11:02 AM

Crappy loses another one.

Posted by vandersmeer on March 22, 2008 at 11:17 PM

vandersmeer hammers Eon. Nice uppercut James !!!

Posted by staceyb on March 21, 2008 at 02:18 PM

Vandy rolls up and smokes Lappy. I'd rather see Jim Vandermeer on the blueline for the Flyers than -15 (in 11 games!) Jaroslav Modry.

Posted by Tangy30 on March 21, 2008 at 10:54 AM

Nice tight left uppercut. Knee buckler.

Posted by marinermoose38 on March 21, 2008 at 01:03 PM

Did that shot buckle Lappy? It kinda looked like it did, but it didn't look like a damaging punch at all.

Posted by boondockbruiser on March 22, 2008 at 04:36 AM

even though laperrier started off strong vandermeer finished it and won a close fight

Posted by blazers76 on March 21, 2008 at 03:02 PM

Not a bad fight. Was going to vote Laperriere until the end when Vandermeer landed that last punch. Didn't look like a great shot to me. Weird. Guess it was a lot harder than it looked. Win Vandermeer.

Posted by chelios247 on March 23, 2008 at 11:23 PM

i cant believe im saying this... win vandy

Posted by perezj on March 22, 2008 at 08:38 AM

Vandy is a slow starter but one of the best technical fighters ever; pound for pound. He looks to get his left hand lose and then hit you with the jack hammer. He can change hands with the best of them. This guys is a middleweight and has taken on some of the best heavy weights. Ask Brad Brown and Parros about Vandy`s left hand. Once he smoked Lapeerriere he stopped throwing them. Ian has a huge hurt but is overmatched...

Posted by rocky7482 on March 23, 2008 at 02:33 PM

Ner the end Vandy just lets Laperriere flail away and waits for his opening,then.....POP! He got his butt handed to him by Simon last night though.

Posted by bam932 on March 21, 2008 at 06:28 PM

Pretty good scrap Vandermeer gets the win at the end.
