All Mantha. He landed a big upper cut that rocked Nemeth. The Euro had no idea what to do. Message sent from Detroit was that teams will stop running their skilled guys because the Wings will answer the bell now. On a more serious note: The Zebras have to be better. If they are going to intervene they have to tie up both guys. In this case they only managed to get 1 hand on each guy. This caused Nemeth to eat a couple of more shots. To his credit once Mantha realized that Nemeth was encumbered by the linesman, he quit and patted him on the ass in a show of good sportsmanship. Nemeth was protecting himself ok. They put him at risk with their half assed intervention. While Behn's rant was accurate, I think we are finally seeing a response to the fact that the Red Wings have been pretty much run off the ice for the last couple of years. It has been long overdue. The players clearly have made this decision. We know it didn't come from Holland or Blashill.
Nemeth didn’t really want any so he put the clamps on and prayed for a stoppage. Win Mantha.
Good job by mantha sticking up for his teammate
Nemeth wanted nothing to do with Mantha and got fed a knuckle sandwich. Well not really. But kind of yes. And the linesmen ruined everything. Also Bertuzzi is loving it in the box.
Big bully red wings lol......they are showing character this year....... Here Mantha takes exception to what I thought was an okay hit from one angle and not so good from the other...either way no penalty was called not sure if Nemeth is clear on what to do in a fight....Easy win for Mantha....I gave it a 5 for those 2 uppercuts that landed
Props to Mantha for sticking up for Larkin
Mantha doesn't like seeing his good friend and psuedo-captain get his head crunched against the boards. Gets more than the worth in retaliatory punches. Nemeth doesn't feel he needs to answer the bell due to the nature of the hit, completely justified. It wasn't a very questionable hit. The Zebras fail completely at assessing the situation and stopping it in the way they needed to.
If that’s a hit that’s worthy of retaliation... then Jimmy Howard is a legit number one This is getting truly ridiculous... and despite Mantha tuning up a guy whose only apparent move is the dreaded headlock... this “pussyfootification” of the game is slowly tapping out the old school genuine animosity... that had always provided the foundation for the best scraps of the past Much like Flyers2019 noted (who seems to need a hug... happy birthday btw Buddy) ...this whole pacifistic undercurrent from the overreaction to legit hits to the latest in phoney visor-based bravery... has really got things trending in the wrong direction for those of us who long for a simpler Kordic-Miller-time And so ends today’s rant...
Mantha retaliates for a clean hit, couple of pops landed by both. Boring match with Mantha getting the win and a 4
Mantha answers the bell after what appeared to be not much of an awkward hit on Larkin. The Avalanche D-men tried to play a physical game against the Wings but, unfortunately got brought to task twice. Win Mantha as Nemeth wanted no part of it.
"We are goin'!!! " "But I don't want to!" Mantha
there was only one person fighting. not sure how there can be winner here
As could have been predicted by a 7 year old child, Mantha prevailed. As could have been predicted by a 7 year old child, this really really sucked.
Rafterman191 with the most biased review I've ever seen on here. Was that also a non-uppercut Mantha blasted him in the face with? Go watch football.
easy win for mantha
Rested snowflakes taking advantage. Mantha was ready to rumble. Wussy Nemeth knew he was toast so he grabbed on tight and road it out until the priests could save him. In the good ol' rivalry days there would have been a follow up on next shift. Mantha should have gotten a KO but could not wind up. Nemeth should have gotten a game misconduct for improper toughing.
Let them go
Mantha landed alot more punches, to what seemed like none from Nemeth. Mantha did a great job standing up for his teammate. Nemeth has to be more ready to scrap if he does a hit like that.
Mantha stands up for Larkin after a hard hit by Nemeth. Mantha predictably wins.
Mantha landed a couple decent shots. Clearly the winner but Nemeth did a good job negating the damage. Mantha out a month with a broken hand so he won this battle but Nemeth got the better of the overall result.
Nemeth knowing Aves already short on D with Cole in the box, tries to refuse to fight and does a pretty good job. Looked like a clear Instigator watching the game. Really a non fight. Were there NHL level refs at this one or local slacks?
PrayMantha-is jumps the poor guy and uppercuts him to the point of making that “poop face”. Didn’t even get both gloves off and so I gave this fight a 2 going to the slender man. I don’t wanna sit on here and express my personal life to folks, but sometimes I sit here and just don’t know about things. The worlds changed. People have changed. Hockey has changed. It’s all changing. Time takes everybody out, it’s undefeated... and I just sit back and dwell on that when I’m alone. I’ll leave it at that for now...
Mantha took it to Nehmeth after a hit that hurt a skilled and smaller Larkin.
