Other Penalties: Miller received an instigator, a fighting major, a misconduct and a game misconduct; Bjorkstrand a boarding major.
The hit was OK...it only became dangerous because Krug put himself in a bad position. Krug knew the guy was there and he knew the hit was coming. He turned his back to the player at the last second and got smoked. The refs and the league need to pay closer attention to this kind of thing before they call penalties. As for Miller...he gets a win...for what...doing the famous 'jump the euroweenie from behind' move. Glad I didn't listen to Edwards call this. BTW...Bjorkstrand stayed in the game and had the game winning shoot out goal.
Reminded me of the movie Oliver. Pleas Sir can I have some more lefts and rights..... Win Kevin Miller
I get that Boston has given up fighting as a game-style, but when did they also give up checking? They aren't fast, or skilled enough to be a finesse team, need to take the body when it's there only Backstrom and a few of the D making checks. Then, at the most inopportune time, Miller decides to mete out "code" justice probably cost his team the extra point. dumb.
To put this in context. Columbus had been running the Boston D, and it was pretty clear that it was part of their game plan. There were a few questionable hits on dump ins. Postma had just been hurt earlier on a dangerous hit in the Boston zone. Chara's fight was due to the fact that he was retaliating to these hits. His hit was dirty as well, but it only happened because the refs had blown a few calls. Miller did what you want your fighters to do in response to another questionable hit.
nothing illegal about that hit. Krug put himself into a bad spot. he wasn't charging, it wasn't boarding, no high elbow, did not leave feet until after contact. Krug is a dummy for trying to pull that move. just play it around the dasher man, you know the guy is coming down with you. I guess he forgot how to make that play since they changed the icing rule a few years ago.
Dangerous hit!! Now take your beating like a little bitch!
I think Krug's move backfired on him & he got eaten. Sorry to see but you need to be responsible for your own decisions bud.
Miller showing he was an 'A' student in mugging class... and good for him in this no-contest.... #86 FTW
Q: How could Bjorkstrand win if he didn't even fight? A: He couldn't.
Jerkstrand got what was coming to him, when will players learn not to board like that...good job Kevan
Dorkstrand shouldn't throw cheap hits from behind if he doesn't want to drop his gloves. Miller fed him well. Win KM.
Fine with the hit, fine with the reaction to the hit. Miller in a no contest beat down.
big Kev issues the mandatory beat down. he looked upset with the challenge on Krug although I enjoyed watching his face being planted to the boards
Bjorkstrand got what was coming to him
Krug shouldn't have put himself in that position. Dumb decision. Then Miller mugs Bjorkstrand. That's a draw.
Well if you didn't get a fighting major, I guess there was no fight... draw...
boarding major for that and chara got nothing?!?!?! BBshit!
This wasnt even a fight. This was mugging on sneak attack.
Miller jumps Bjork from behind and lands several good shots before Bjork loses a glove and bite the ice. Win Miller 3
Bjorkstrand's check was stupid and dangerous. Good for Miller for going after the turtling coward. This is a perfect example of why fighting needs to stay in the game. Pinheads like Bjorkstrand take liberties when they know there's no retribution. Fighting may be down in the NHL and the tree huggers may want it out but Miller understands what needs to be done in a situation like this.
it wasnt so dangerous hit on krug but miller laid a beating on bjorkstrand to make point...bjorkstrand didnt drop gloves so basically he didnt earn his 1st nhl fight...gave it a 3
Miller against a punching bag. Word.
Douchy hit...Miller did what he should've, but not good enough. Otherwise, nothing to see here....move along.
I think most players are taught to ALWAYS go over the hit, NEVER under. I understand standing up for your player though...I would also pick the smallest guy on the time to fight too...
Jockstrap was Schooled for a Cheapshot
Who could ever vote that Bjorkstrand won this fight?
Bad hit, good beating. Kevan Miller is a bad a**
Well deserved beat down. Did this BJ think that was a good hit? Deserved every slap he got, and I hope theres more to come in future bouts.
dirty hit by bjorkstrand, and miller gave him a beating, but bjorkstrand didn't even drop the gloves.
Bjorkstrand throws a cheap hit and get filled in by Miller and rightfully so. Miller gets the book thrown at him, but this is the very reason there is (and should be) fighting in hockey. A simple fighting major offset by the boarding major and play on. No reason for the misconducts. After reading other reviews, I would have to agree that Krug did not help himself by turning back like that. If you are going to stop/turn back, you best be ready for the hit that is coming. Still, without the benefit of replay, my first view of this was dirty hit, so I still think Miller did the right thing.
I'm with SlapshotMcG and his backstory on this one
I give it a draw... I refuse to give someone a win when they jump a player from behind which is exactly what Miller did. We also see who is laughing last when the game is over. Draw and a 1
Great hit by Bjorkstrand
Bruins are a disgrace to this league. It will never change.
krug makes a bad play putting himself in a dangerous spot gets nailed miller beats the crap out of bjorkstrand
