I think they did this just for old times sake. These guys don't have the pizazz they once did, but it was still pretty entertaining. Especially compared to the other fights we're seeing this season.

Thornton avenges Jagr by going after Phaneuf, Neil avenges Phaneuf by going with Thornton and the circle is completed. A couple of old school brawlers who probably took part in their last battle against each other. Enteraining draw & 6. Respect to both of these guys.

thornton probably landed the only 2 punches of the fight but it's hard to tell from that angle.im going with a draw and 4...funny that this fight scored 5,7.probably because of the names involved thornton's 2nd fight of the game

2 "old war horses" scrapping so much respect for each other not much done.

Posted by slysi on March 03, 2017 at 02:58 PM

A lot of posturing but not much done

Posted by shrk33 on March 03, 2017 at 01:00 PM

Two familiar opponents with 2 grizzled vets. Not something you'll see too much in the future with long standing tough guys going like this.

Posted by KentuckyJet on February 28, 2017 at 04:29 PM

nice fight. Some hard punches.

Two veteran warriors whose time in this league is running out - you know both these guys respect each others abilities.and willingness to fight when needed. Hope they have beers together. Draw

Two tough guys on their way out put on a good show for the fans. I think that they may have landed only 1 punch each...but a good tilt just the same.

Posted by English_Bruin on February 27, 2017 at 12:20 PM

Two vets go head to head, decent draw

Posted by bigmike53 on February 27, 2017 at 07:06 PM

Good technical scrap and a Draw.

Posted by bonvie_coupal on February 28, 2017 at 12:49 PM

Two old guys get up off the Craftmatic Adjustable player's bench to avenge the honour of their teammates. Classic defensive tilt and when you're that old and exert that much effort, they probably both peed a little. They probably won't even remember what they were fighting about when they pass each other walking in the mall this morning. 5 and a draw....for old times sake.

2 war-horses showin em how its done---draw

Posted by sedinfan on February 27, 2017 at 04:13 PM

Good scrap for the senior division. Got to got with the draw on this one.

This one was all for the fans. I respect both these veterans and have seen them go many times. Good to see the nice job pat by Neil at the end of the scrap. Draw and a 7, fun to watch.

This is a good old time tilt between two heavyweight bruisers. This is old time hockey.

Posted by Stonecosy on February 28, 2017 at 12:03 AM

Couple of old pals reminiscing...

Posted by Johnny22 on February 28, 2017 at 12:39 PM

Good fight, very even . Two experienced warriors.

As an old fart (17 years my junior) Neil has more to lose fighting a respectable pugilist like Thornton than the reverse. The amount of respect (backing up from the challenge and an almost undue amount of assessment) that Shawn gives Neil... and the ultimate result - Neil with a mild win by concession even though Thornton had a couple more aggressive connections was what I needed to see to give Neil the win. That "middle-aged" and young contenders are still seeking out Neil to prove they still have the 'old-school' edge is pretty cool. If only the Flyers had someone...

I hate giving a draw. Neil in a close on. These guys are unfortunately near the end of their careers.

Posted by Jellyczar on February 27, 2017 at 10:59 AM

Edge to Thornton with more connecting shots ... Each veteran v good at tying up the arms of his opponent....

Posted by DuckHawk on February 27, 2017 at 07:51 PM

Like you all said prior, two classy, tough as hell, old school guys having a go. Tiny tiny edge Thornton, could vote draw. Neither what hey once were but who cares, loved it. I am not sure you could find two more evenly matched fighters in any era, Thornton a little bigger and a little stronger, and has a slight edge in their career fights. Love them both.

Posted by BruinManiac on February 27, 2017 at 07:07 AM

Thorny in a landslide.

Posted by nait on February 27, 2017 at 08:22 AM

Two old tightens going at it and not a disappointing scrap

Posted by [email protected] on February 27, 2017 at 03:13 PM

Looked like a cage fight. Nothing hard landed, lots of defense but good fight by a couple of pit bull veterans

Posted by TheMuddyChicken on March 01, 2017 at 03:12 PM

They're both too good at holding off the big blows. Maybe if it was Thorty's first of the night he'd have stayed on his feet.

Posted by slapshotmcg on February 27, 2017 at 10:42 PM

Two dangerous guys with great balance and technique.

Posted by dogginit on February 28, 2017 at 08:17 AM

Did anyone connect? Two old dudes who can't swing for the fences anymore. All about hanging on and not getting hit, pure defense on both parts for these old dudes. At least Thorton made some effort this time.

Posted by Mounty in NC on February 27, 2017 at 03:53 PM

Nice solid draw and a 4

Posted by forbull on February 27, 2017 at 06:39 PM

I cant stand this staged fighting with no one landing a punch! BORING!!!!

Posted by jerry s on February 27, 2017 at 05:43 AM

two old warriors battling for the 100th time lol

Posted by demonhead6 on February 27, 2017 at 12:19 PM

Slight edge Thornton. Was expecting some big bomb's to be dropped but never quite materialized.

Posted by travist on February 28, 2017 at 01:15 PM

looked to me thorny got a few short ones in, neil got a looping right on thorny's nose...going to give a slight edge to thorny based on volume that appears to land.

Posted by Vito514 on February 27, 2017 at 01:52 AM

Bah. This was bound to happen during a game like this. Happy it did. Obviously not as good as a couple years ago but a decent draw. AlsoHappy the refs let them go.

Posted by ChuckinKnuckles on March 01, 2017 at 06:00 PM

2 of my favorite heavyweights. I don't see a decided advantage either way. Draw, 6.

Posted by BruinsAllDaySon on February 27, 2017 at 12:30 PM

Not much to say here that hasn't already been said. You won't see guys like this around too much longer.

Posted by Robbie1973 on February 27, 2017 at 07:15 PM

Decent little tilt...nice to see the refs respect them and let them go

Posted by bigdog2007 on February 27, 2017 at 08:09 AM

Gotta respect these old farts slugging it out

Posted by boldbilly on February 27, 2017 at 04:46 AM

Wow two old throw backs, I wonder how many more we will see from these two....Nice long back and forth here between these two veterans that were able to neutralize one another effectively ... Loved it and scored it a 6 and a well deserved draw.....take a bow gentlemen, you've both certainly earned it with your respective careers. But you know who shouldn't take a bow Dion Phaneuf.....he roughed up or tried to rough up Jaromir Jagr ....on his next shift Thornton took a double minor for roughing up that pu$$y Phaneuf who couldn't fall to the ice fast enough Turtling.......some things never change

Posted by Clowes ABeast29 on February 27, 2017 at 01:59 AM

Wow there fight! Fuckin A!
