As a neutral fan here I can't see how everyone thought Downie won this. If anything, I think Downie is lucky the linesmen came in when they did because Doan would have likely began to unload. 5 and draw...

Posted by irishdefense on March 29, 2015 at 12:26 AM

Downie lands a few more for the W.

Posted by CG3 on March 28, 2015 at 04:59 PM

Props to both guys, Downie for sticking up for a teammate after a big hit, and Doan for answering the bell. Draw and a 5.

fucking refs

Posted by Humper on March 28, 2015 at 06:18 PM

Downie blows chunks, but he beat Doan in this so-so bout.

Posted by hockeyboy10106 on March 30, 2015 at 08:56 PM

I see a draw here both got same number landed as well thrown

Posted by DARCY T on March 30, 2015 at 06:53 AM

i didnt doubt that doan would win this fight but i was wrong...draw and 4

Posted by Norm Peterson on March 30, 2015 at 12:57 PM

P.O.S vs P.O.S. The Linesmen should have just let the two of them go at it until there was a knock out.

Posted by flyerguy on March 29, 2015 at 08:12 AM

Whoever voted for Downie needs glasses ! Can't even hit a player in this pussified NHL anymore. CLEAN hit all you pens' whiners. Not nhl players' fault if Penguins players have soft mellons

Posted by rocky 1 on April 01, 2015 at 11:38 PM

Ho-Hum draw!

Posted by m4rine77 on March 30, 2015 at 01:34 AM

Doan won the beginning of the fight, Downie had the end. Draw and a 5

Posted by BGSU419 on March 30, 2015 at 03:32 PM

Why jump in this fight?

Posted by tuffthinker on April 05, 2015 at 10:55 AM

Too close to call - draw.

Posted by jerry s on March 30, 2015 at 05:22 AM

would have like it if the linesmen waited abit longer.good battle for both

Posted by CheapSeats on April 02, 2015 at 09:01 PM

Doan.. quality over quantity.

Posted by budsfan4 on March 29, 2015 at 03:36 PM

Doan with a close win in a hug fest

Posted by FightJudge46 on March 29, 2015 at 11:51 AM

Doan with the win.

Posted by Screaming Buffalo on March 28, 2015 at 05:48 PM

What the hell are the announcers watching?

Posted by Otto_maddux on March 29, 2015 at 08:21 PM

doan did only enough to take the little twerp. he was being merciful if anything.

Posted by Beach Bums on April 03, 2015 at 06:57 PM

Good scrap.

Posted by boldbilly on March 29, 2015 at 08:33 AM

You know what the hit wasn't dirty but he did have him prone and vulnerable and didn't have to finish it as hard as he did. Letang had the misfortune of being standing at just the right position for him to fall and strike his head on the boards.......just bad luck.... The fight well I'm no Downie fan that's for sure but he surprises me here how well he does against the much bigger Doan for the Downie and I scored it a 4

Posted by web1350 on March 30, 2015 at 08:34 PM

If some of you people dislike Downie, fine, but at least give credit where credit is due or just don't vote at all. The scrap was a close one but, admit it, Downie had the edge here. And tpr1960, show some class here. You apparently have never been to Pittsburgh. If you would visit, you would see how idiotic your comments are.

Posted by Bruinsdude22 on March 28, 2015 at 06:04 PM

Where was the other linesman as the ref broke up the fight ?!

Posted by bigpucks on March 30, 2015 at 02:40 PM

Downie does his job. So much better than sending Adams out to get beat like Tina Turner.

Doan won. Homer votes for Downie? Doan is much stronger.

Posted by bungle on April 01, 2015 at 07:07 PM

Lol @ the Arizona homer announcers

Posted by kkdowning on March 29, 2015 at 11:53 AM

Bit of a homer job announcing, until they admit at the end that the Dislikable Downie got in a "few licks" (or words of similar import).

Posted by kitcarnut on March 29, 2015 at 02:12 AM

Doan way too strong for peckerface!

Posted by stoopid760 on March 31, 2015 at 12:29 AM

Not sure how so many people gave this to Downie. Maybe cause of the couple good hits. Doan gets this win and Downie should be thanking the refs from stopping it.

Posted by boblikeshockey on March 31, 2015 at 04:02 PM

At around 0:27 Downie gets a few good punches on Doan. Other than that it seemed pretty even

Posted by PattyBufff36 on March 28, 2015 at 10:02 PM

Decent scrap Downie of course had the best connected. **** officials...

Posted by ColbZ on March 29, 2015 at 06:01 PM

Doan deserved to get his ass kicked. Steve Downie was standing up for his teammate and Downie taught Doan a lesson for the hit that was late on Letang. Way to go Downie!!! :)

Posted by Mounty in NC on March 28, 2015 at 06:20 PM

King of Goons.... I can't stand Downie but I don't get your point here. Looked to me that Doan is the one pushing for this fight. As for the fight, Downie lands two and the only hit for Doan came after the officials started breaking up the fight

Posted by bigdog2007 on March 28, 2015 at 05:55 PM

Gaye homer announcers. Jack Edwards sister?

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on April 03, 2015 at 10:01 AM

Downie landed a couple and Doan landed one when the refs came in.

Posted by Massive Coiler on March 28, 2015 at 04:09 PM

Not a dirty hit on Letang, but Doan stepped up when he had to, one of the most respectable guys in the league. As for the fight, in spite of what these Coyotes announcers would tell you, I believe that Downie had a slight edge in this fight. Hugfest for the most part, Downie actually landed one or two that didn't hit a helmet. Homer review, but it's what I think, this could be a draw too.

Posted by Great Murray on March 29, 2015 at 10:50 AM

I didn't give Downie much of a shot but he wins this easily with 3 solid rights. Doan is a tough guy but not this time.

Posted by EK65 on March 29, 2015 at 09:27 PM

The ever noble Captain vs The super pest. Both guys did a great job of their role here. Doan answered for the "hit" on Letang which I believe was just an unfortunate landing and Downie stuck up for his fallen teammate The fight was a decent 5 with an edge to Downie.

Posted by slysi on April 01, 2015 at 04:34 PM

not much

Posted by bigmike53 on March 28, 2015 at 10:57 PM

This was a close scrap. Downie comes on late to get the narrow win.

Posted by KnckleSndwch on March 30, 2015 at 08:54 AM

Good, spirited scrap. Downie with the slight W. If anyone read what Doan said after the game, he actually supported Downie for sticking up for Letang and referred to Downie as a "character guy" who is "the type of guy you want on your team, that stands up for your teammates and goes to the wall for his teammates." I would love to have both Downie and Doan on my team.

Posted by Jordybats99 on December 31, 2015 at 08:08 PM

Really Decent Fight. Give Downie the Edge.

Posted by devilsadvocate on April 05, 2015 at 11:04 PM

Love him or hate him, you've got to admire Downie. He's sort of like a Derek Dorsett only with some fighting skills.

Posted by dogace on March 28, 2015 at 07:45 PM

Downie can't play either ? Dude who said that Is a complete idiot. 14 goals over 30 points. crombeen?? Please leave site if you have no clue?

Posted by Domi2828 on March 29, 2015 at 10:01 PM

Downie got his ass whipped. Give me a break Pen fans.

Posted by doobi1 on March 29, 2015 at 11:25 PM

It makes me laugh, that the Downie haters have to eat a little crow on this one. There is no way this was a draw. The three boomer rights to the Doaner chisel puss, clearly gives Downie the Win!!! Doan went a little overboard on the Letang hit and I'm glad to see that he went home tonight with a big ol fat lip. Great job Downie!!

Posted by JoeCritter on March 29, 2015 at 12:06 AM

Maybe I should turn in my hockey fan card. I'm about to say something I think will be unpopular. The injury to Letang wasn't caused by a dirty hit by Doan. Even Downie said afterward than he has nothing but respect Doan and that he didn't think it was done on purpose. Essentially Downie stood up for his teammate. I guess it was a "professional" fight? This makes zero sense. Doan didn't do it to Letang. It was a freak accident, really. Looking at what happened to Letang I'm wondering if he should have continued his career after the injuries and stroke. I mean he wasn't boarded. He wasn't hit in a way that was close to even be a dirty and he winds up hospitalized. Even the COYOTES were applauding Letang when he got taken off the ice. Fine. Or Maybe not. But it's not the point. WHY DOES THIS FIGHT EVEN HAPPEN??? It's not like the ghosts of Tai Domi and Sean Avery were playing for the Coyotes. NOBODY DID ANYTHING WRONG. Stand up for your teammate when someone takes a cheap shot at him. Beat the snot out of the other team's pest on GP. Sure. Keep the goons off of your star. Awesome. I get it. Fights serve a purpose. I get it. But nobody did anything wrong here. I wouldn't have blamed Doan if he refused to fight. I'm sorry for your guy, but this is what instigation is. If you want PIM because it makes you feel better, then here take the extra 2. I feel bad for Downie but not so bad that I don' want someone to beat the snot out of him now.

Posted by Hayseed on March 28, 2015 at 05:36 PM

Doan gets saved by the refs. He was about to visit Letang at the hospital.

Posted by tpr1960 on March 28, 2015 at 06:18 PM

Steve downie is the biggest piece of $hit in the league, and he can't play either. Win Doan on class alone. Shitzburg voters out in force since they have no enforcer. Oh and your town smells like old iron workers, your mom told me.

Posted by King of Goons on March 28, 2015 at 05:27 PM

Someone should probably slap Downie's mother for giving birth to him.
