Johnson didn't want any part of that...not sure about the headbutt, I think he was just trying to pull in close. Iginla should have corked him instead of complain...

Posted by bruins34 on November 09, 2011 at 12:03 PM

This was a draw AND a crap right all rolled in to one.

Posted by Truk on November 09, 2011 at 11:53 PM

Jarome looked like a Canuck there for a minute looking for calls. Had he check for blood it would have been classic. Simple solution: Staubitz or the like calls out Iggy next game and gets him to fight. Get's him off the ice for 5 and a chance to maybe connect with a few. If he won't go move onto the next best player. I've always liked Jarome but the whining about this is out of character and can't be happening.

Take your skirt off and quit wining Iginla. Like anyone is going to try and butt ya while you're wearing a bucket. Tool.

Posted by Hoser48 on November 08, 2011 at 11:35 PM

Boring fight.. no winner, no headbut

Posted by billy jack on November 08, 2011 at 11:29 PM

they just held each other close,no offense just defense.

Posted by Thieves on November 09, 2011 at 01:55 PM

So Iginla rips off the helmet of Johnson and complains about a head butt that doesn't look like it barely hit him. I can't call Iginla the winner when he is complaining half way through.

Posted by fernben8 on November 08, 2011 at 11:47 PM

Going 3 and a Draw. I feel otherwise...didn't think there was any mal intent on that head but, ( but I also don't wear stripes and standing 5 feet away from the action ).

Posted by ISYSpanther on November 09, 2011 at 08:53 AM

Yeah, there was a head butt. But I do not believe a suspension is in order. Johnson did not have his helmet on. Does not really compare to Patrick Kaleta's head butt. Really weak headbutt as well. It could be argued that Iginla pulled Johnson towards him and that lead to Johnson's headbutt. Not saying that is what happened, but it is not as a severe violation of the rules as some people make it out to be. The penalties were sufficient on Johnson's side. I do not understand why Iginla did not receive an instigator penalty. He was the first person with his gloves off by 10 seconds. He was looking for a fight. Have to give some points to Johnson though. All of his punches landed on Iginla's visor. I cannot tell if Johnson's helmet had a visor or not. Personally, I feel there should be a penalty in the NHL for disrobing your opponent of his gear. Tearing off a player's helmet while not taking off yours? It is one thing to punch it off, it is another to dig your fingers under the helmet and rip it off. Still, I would say this was a draw. Iginla gave up as soon as he forced Johnson to get an additional penalty. That was the whole point. To trick a wild player into giving the Flames a power play.

Posted by BludyNucks on November 10, 2011 at 11:18 AM

Nothing fight, Iginla wanted to spark his team I guess and nothing really happened but hugging.

Posted by bman1368 on November 09, 2011 at 12:34 AM

While Iginla had control of most the fight he seemed too eagar to drop Johnson's lid but not his own, the when Johnson came up in defense (he didn't have a visor like Iginla at this point) he was more than willing to yap and not scrap. Iginla is like the classic Big Country song 'Just a Shadow'.

Posted by Behn Wilson on November 09, 2011 at 05:48 PM

Since the fight started with both guys in the ''shields up'' position, I can't really fault Iginla, especially considering the ''accidental'' head-butt. Uneventful draw. Sidebar... Just noticed that Kyle Neuber seems to have escaped from the purgatory, that is the Columbus farm system, and has, somehow, ended up a Marlie! Look, I know that Brown is having a great year, and that there's always Orr... but please, ''Leaf Nation''...give this guy a shot. At one point, earlier in his career, he looked like the second coming of DJ King (pre-broken hand, St Louis version...of course).

Posted by Medulaman683 on November 09, 2011 at 12:21 AM

Iggy being a whinny little bitch was the most interesting part of this "fight"… head butt my ass, obviously a draw

Posted by xshorty16x on November 09, 2011 at 12:56 AM

defiantly a draw.. and headbutt my *** iginla is just being a whiny ***** and decides to call his own penalty and because hes a big star his "word" goes over all refs in the nhl... what a *****

Posted by Jflah53 on November 10, 2011 at 02:29 PM

Always liked Iginla BUT this was " during the heat of the moment " incident. Really didn't look like much at all. I guess Iginla is a "star" & how dare some young rookie (who is from Calgary) does this to him. Seems like more of a BIESKA BITCH" move !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by joshh09 on November 10, 2011 at 01:08 PM

That was a head butt? I think you can see that in every fight you watch.

Posted by jemihami on November 09, 2011 at 10:16 AM

Iginla wins, keeps visor, pisses and moans, and throws a penalty-box temper-tantrum, until refs call head-butting. I think Johnson did it, but it doesn't look intentional. I'm sure Iggy is frustrated with the fact that the Wild are on the way up and the Flames are on the way down. Of course, if the Flames dumped Sutter they would be instantly better.

Posted by mbassy on November 09, 2011 at 11:45 PM

iginla wins the (awful) fight, but doesn't gain any new fans. that tiny 'head butt' couldn't have hurt anyone. johnson with apparently no fighting skills what so ever makes a good target for iginla to bully and feel like a big boy, so why the whining? horrible call by the referee(s), and in the next scene you see the ref screaming at the minnesota captain for trying to take part in the conversation about what happened...unreal. winner: - loser: nhl

Posted by honest truth on November 09, 2011 at 01:23 PM

Really Jarome, you won the fight, but you picked a non-fighter from the scrum, then whined about inadvertent headbutt during the fight, then dropped visor after the fight, then threw tantrum in the box, then lost game 3-0,then made excuses to media after the game.Really.This is something that Avery or Burrows might do.

Posted by Jordybats99 on December 30, 2015 at 05:53 PM

Iginla Landed better Punches. Edge Iginla.

Posted by DARCY T on November 09, 2011 at 08:42 AM

johnson took beating here

Posted by filthynumber1 on November 09, 2011 at 10:31 AM

obviously the minnesota feed. and "mnenforcer24" your an idiot. watch 99% of iggys fights he always sheds his lid. its cuz this fight is off of a scrum so neither guy had time and nick also has a visor too, so just stfu

Posted by hizzy4shizzy on November 09, 2011 at 06:27 AM

After having to fight off 3 people, I think Iginla did well.

Posted by tattooedkingpin on November 09, 2011 at 08:30 AM

W for the referee. He owned Koivu.

Posted by staceyb on November 09, 2011 at 06:00 AM

Ah, those visors. Iggy takes the decision.

Posted by rocky 1 on November 09, 2011 at 12:08 PM

Stop listening to the announcers homers this kid hung on for dear life.Win Iginla!

Posted by hal29 on November 09, 2011 at 01:42 AM

So the announcer says the kid did a pretty good job. Huh did he mean a pretty good job in staying alive. I mean he didn't do anything but hold on. Iginla with the win in an uneventful fight. Kid is lucky Iginla didn't have room to open up. Iginla had no chance to take his visor off, he had three guys up on him and Johnson was ready to fight. Iginla is one of the most respected guys in the league and I respect him. He is one of the few guys that wears a visor and fights that I do respect because 90% of the time he will toss the lid, but had no choice in this fight. That was a head butt but regardless it doesn't matter but in all fearness and as for Johnson he wears a visor as well he just had his taken off. So these announcers are idiots and need to let it go. But seriously why how is that not intentional you can see him duck then lift up. Just saying. The actions of the headbutt speak louder than these moron announcers words.

Posted by bruins rule on November 11, 2011 at 11:57 PM

iginla gets the win.

Posted by rowbearprobear on November 09, 2011 at 03:24 PM

Little head butt, no big deal. Probie used to do that all the time. For some reason, I took great satisfaction out of the kid throwing iggy (who's wicked strong on his skates) to the ice. Veteran player bending ears to get the call. The ref then promptly tells koivu to STFU. I'm sure you can figure out my texting shorthand;). Iggy and a 3 maybe 4.

Posted by orr4president on November 09, 2011 at 10:24 AM

Obvious headbutt after 3 wild jumped Iginla and he still won

Posted by Double Nickels on November 16, 2011 at 05:16 AM

Not only did Johnson land a headbutt, he was swinging it for a few more. I do not respect that style of fighting at all and I hope he catches an uppercut the next time he curls in for one of those swings.

Posted by gongermuskegon on November 08, 2011 at 11:27 PM

Not much there, kutos to Jerome for keeping his composure while the whambulance alarms went by, those suckers are loud! On a lighter note, that ref apparently doesn't like to talk to two people at once In the words of NHL98 Igingnla and a 4

Posted by Bengal22 on November 09, 2011 at 02:07 PM

As far as the headbutt...what a horrible call. The NHL refs usually do a great job, at least in comparison to the NFL. But that was a very bad call that could have cost the Wild. But still a horrible call none the less. If anything, Iginla went and tore Johnsons helmet off.

Posted by crazyschwaab on November 09, 2011 at 08:11 AM

I would guess a number of Minnesota fans reviewed this..... win Iginla. AND a clear headbutt from johnson

Posted by Sasky001 on November 08, 2011 at 11:34 PM

Johnson hid behind his visor while it lasted and then threw a head butt. Terrible effort from a guy I have never ever heard of. Is there a player on the Mild that Inginla hasn't beat up?

Posted by BooSanta on November 10, 2011 at 01:02 AM

First deductions: Iginla for keeping pantyshield on and Johnson for the headbutt. They offset. Iginla handles this one quite well and was the busier pugilist here, doing the only scoring for the spoils.

Posted by kingpintoo on November 09, 2011 at 08:35 PM

edge to Iginla

Posted by b.t.wilson on November 09, 2011 at 11:31 PM

If any man could make my heart soar, it would be Iggy. Especially when he is pissed off. Iginla and a 5. The coconut seemed intentional, but its really hard to say. I'd like to give a guy the benefit of the doubt.

Posted by hughcares on November 09, 2011 at 09:33 AM

I didn't see Johnson voluntarily ditch his shield, Iginla was jsut smart enough to rip his off. Win Iginla.

Posted by SABREHATRED on November 08, 2011 at 11:32 PM

Win Iginla... I haven't seen a headbutt like that since Lindy Ruff and his old man went for the same bottle of toupee glue HAHAH BOINK AHAHA, THEN MOE SLAPPED THEM BOTH HAHAHAH NYUK NYUK NYUK HAHAHAHAH!!!!

Posted by sedinfan on November 08, 2011 at 11:23 PM

Obvious head butt at .40, not sure what tkidu was watching. The Johnson kid looked scared out of his mnd and got tuned in, so the head butt was his only chance of surviving Jarome. Flames have trouble scoring anyway so the long power play probably won't make any difference.

Posted by GreatMurray on November 09, 2011 at 05:34 PM

Iginla wins the fight but is a sniveling, whining sissy. Uses his star power to cow the Ref into an absolute BS call on Johnson. Iggy kept pushing his head down...he's used to the sleazy chicks in Calgary.

Posted by myowncookbook on November 08, 2011 at 11:37 PM

Johnson was scared and didnt know what he was doing, also had a unfair head-butt to the chest of Iginla. If they would've started in open ice, Iggy would've KO'ed his ass

Posted by akendeall on November 09, 2011 at 10:44 AM

Good fight for a skill player.

Posted by purenoiz on November 09, 2011 at 11:28 PM

Interesting "fight". Johnson wasn't throwing much other than swimming his arms trying to establish a dominant over under position and wrap up iginla. Iginla throws an upper cut at the .39 second mark after he dead arms his right arm free, was johnson avoiding the uppercut or did iginla hit him so hard he knocked johnson into his own face? Johnson reminds me more of a high school wrestler than a striker.

Posted by dgiss902 on November 09, 2011 at 02:38 AM

i love watching iginla fight, hes a decent little entertaining scrapper, and its safe to say he wins mostly every fight he gets into..

Posted by FightsOfHockey on November 08, 2011 at 11:28 PM

Iggy all the way in this one, johnson just defended well

Posted by Sev7Stud on November 09, 2011 at 10:26 PM

Posted by tkidu on November 08, 2011 at 11:22 PM

where was the headbutt? good game jarome way to whine your way to a penalty. and what the fuck was the ref talking to mikko like that for?

Posted by Custombreaks on November 09, 2011 at 12:40 AM

Tom Kowal should receive a suspension for being a dork. Jarome got beat and deserved a instigator,,,case closed.

Posted by legion31 on November 09, 2011 at 04:56 AM

i don't like the fighters with a visor....edge johnson

Posted by Bear72 on November 09, 2011 at 02:01 PM

Typical flames fans, see what they want through rose colored glasses, league just said there was no headbutt, makes you morons feel a tad bit stupid and blind.... At least share the shit you all smoke up there

Posted by boogards belt on November 09, 2011 at 02:34 AM

Its a fight Iginla you big putz. Whining about a very minor head butt while you continue to hold his head down. Not to mention you are sparring with the "Whimpy Shield". Automatic loss.

Posted by oilersfansylvan on November 10, 2011 at 02:20 PM

Wa Wa Wa Pooooooooor Jerome.......better get out of Calgary before your careers done.....

Posted by Sportsdiamond on November 09, 2011 at 08:44 AM

The only thing that got beat up was the Flames last night.

Posted by johnnyrock555 on November 09, 2011 at 03:13 PM

Win for Johnson for taking Iginla out for 5 minutes. I am not sure if head but was intentional or not but I did see Iginla take off Johnson's helmet while he himself wore a visor.

Posted by rudyk on November 13, 2011 at 11:57 AM

I used to respect Iginla, but initiating with a visor and running from Falk for an easier mark... just bush

Posted by Thoragh on November 09, 2011 at 01:27 AM

I thought this was a draw ... Neither really landed anything and Iginla was nice enough to leave his visor on. Johnson did look pretty scared, but got out of the way of most if not all of the damage. Pretty weak of Iginla being more worried about a BS head butt call than actually fighting, almost gave the win to Johnson cuz of that...

Posted by tim daddy on November 09, 2011 at 02:14 PM

Draw, The two fighters reflect their teams right now. one younger, and on the rise, the other old, declining, and a sad shadow of how great they once were

Posted by Riastlin on November 12, 2011 at 10:33 AM

Calling it a draw because of Iginla's crying. Really can't see that as an intentional head butt, more like he was just trying to get his head up so he could see.

Posted by Chadricco on November 09, 2011 at 06:40 AM

Iggy was crying as if he took a knee to his vagina.

Posted by dorian on November 10, 2011 at 11:21 AM

*yawn* Iginla again fighting with a visor after ripping the helmet off his opponent...and then bitching about a headbutt. Classless.

Posted by Clowes ABeast29 on November 09, 2011 at 11:27 AM

Iggy should have fought Falk... Headbutt ah i cant tell if it was with intent.

Posted by chad420 on November 09, 2011 at 01:33 PM

Now thats using your head....dirty....win Iggy

Posted by MetalMitts on November 11, 2011 at 04:05 PM

Inadvertant head butt. Im a MN guy, but always good to see the rare breed of player like Iginla that'll score, lead, and drop 'em when needed. Not many of those left in the game. A real headbutt would be the classic Tim Hunter back in the day. (couldn't find video online, but it's a real beauty)

Posted by kkdowning on November 08, 2011 at 11:39 PM

Didn't really see the head butt, but Iginla controlled the fight

Posted by durka on November 09, 2011 at 11:52 AM

thats so funny. johnson isnt allowed to headbutt during the fight but iginla can smash his face like that. lol unless i'm interpreting wrong

Posted by Huge1981 on November 09, 2011 at 04:03 PM

Iginla takes this one...Johnson wants no part of him. Iggy getting his team revved up, down by 2!!!!!

Posted by mike2323 on November 10, 2011 at 04:00 PM

Iginla with better punches.

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on February 23, 2015 at 02:58 AM

Johnson is lucky Iginla didn't kill him.

Posted by muskokadangler on November 08, 2011 at 11:41 PM

certainly an Iggy win....Inadvertant???!!! Maybe I love the way Iggy was so Poised that he even kinda spoke to the linesman or ref about it while continuing to scrap

Posted by mnenforcer24 on November 08, 2011 at 11:53 PM

Iginla = pussy just like sedinfan. A terrible call by the referees. Iginla is a pussy for fighting with his visor on. He is a whiner that sucks at hockey. Sedinfan do the world a favor and never post on this site again. You are the most biased and worst synopsis of fights on this sight. You are a complete moron that doesn't have the first idea about hockey. You must ride the short bus.

Posted by mbingaman on November 12, 2011 at 04:44 AM

Ridiculous call to give Johnson a penalty for a headbutt. No way for the ref to know that. He's just trying to protect himself and fight. Meanwhile, poor little Jarome is protected by his visor.

Posted by dutchman on November 09, 2011 at 09:02 AM

Iginla's such a fricken baby.
