Eric Godard vs Jody Shelley

Not the winner I expected, but nonetheless, a good honest scrap between two legit heavies at center ice that Shelley, suprisingly controlled even before the shirt came up.

Shelley appeared to get in a couple of more shots but nothing seemed to hit Godard directly. I'm not a fan of these staged bouts.

That is the way to use the sweater punch. They teach boxers to throw a jab and follow the jab with a straight right to the same spot that they throw the jab. That is what Shelley did. Shelley is having a good year so far.

Godard is too capricious. When he lands the big right he hurts people. Too many times, he can't get anything going like in this fight.

Well, no damage done but I still gotta say Shelley took it for getting the jersey over Godard's melon and chucking some major knuckles into his helmet. Hate the 'jersey jab'.

This fight reminded me of the days of Shane Churla, Stu Grimson, Tony Twist, Bob Probert, etc when heavyweights would just stand back and throw bombs. The only thing I disliked here was Shelley continuing to hit after Godard's jersey got up over his head. Still, you only see 1 of these for about every 15 wrestling, grabbing hugfests.
