draw fun to watch

Posted by followthecode on March 08, 2009 at 03:04 AM

Must be a lot of tweakers on this site. 'Belak with the easy win'??? Get a life and then watch it again. Clear draw!

First time I've seen Cote fight smart defensively (hug in close) against a bigger guy who would likely KO him if swinging freely. Earned a draw, and maybe will keep his brains from becoming scrambled like Ali's for a while longer. I bet the flyers wish they still had Brash too.

Posted by Flyersfan4life2 on March 08, 2009 at 10:40 PM

I gave this one i draw. I dont care what anyone says about cote. As a die hard flyers fan. This guy can be our fighter for as long as he wants. yes he's not the biggest guy in the world. But he nevers backs down and us philly fans want that out of our players. Belak is having a great seaon though. Dont know why the leafs or florida let this guy go.

Belak didnt really outshine Cote. They both traded many punches, few that did anything. Good fight. Draw.

Posted by cotefan92 on March 08, 2009 at 10:55 AM

Good fight, as you can probably tell I am a flyers and a cote fan and what mcb 79 says disgraces me. However the fight was a draw and honestly i think homer vote are starting to dominate this site.

Posted by mike563 on March 08, 2009 at 02:03 PM

cote losing like usaul

Posted by Riomouse911 on March 10, 2009 at 12:06 AM

Cote, from the Barch school of standing up and taking them, loses 10-8. He's got a chin of iron, however....

Posted by biggravy on March 09, 2009 at 03:42 PM

Nice throws from Belak, the obvious winner.

Posted by huddles on March 08, 2009 at 08:27 AM

DEAR HOMERS BELAK with WIN MCB 89, what do you smoke, cote has not lost a fight all year?? yea right, Godard and ORR beat him down everytime

Posted by Gunslinger on March 08, 2009 at 08:51 AM

You don't even need to watch Cote fights anymore to know who won. Hint, it ain't Cote.In fairness he does well he against a much bigger opponent but Belak just to much, gets the win. And just what Flyer fans need, mcb789 on their side.

Posted by seacritt on March 08, 2009 at 11:53 AM

M CB789... You must have missed the fight where Brashear schooled Cote earlier in the season. I like Cote. He is a scrappy little guy, But not lost a fight all year? Did you mean to say hasn't won a fight all year? Win Belak.

Posted by Santokh_Gill on March 09, 2009 at 12:12 AM

Belak with the easy win , good fight ...

Posted by Liberal Flyer on March 08, 2009 at 02:13 PM

Belak won but wasn't by much. All you flyer haters are retarded at least my team will drop the gloves in a second and not complain about it. Get with the program. Lets see what happens when the fly guys get in a line braw with any team in the nhl.

edge to wade

Posted by Blackhawk23 on March 08, 2009 at 09:55 PM

Belak wins nice to see somebody finally play him and let him go. Cote is as tough as they come but just isnt big enough to fight guys like Belak although he never will back down and sometimes even gets the W.

Posted by brad houghton on March 08, 2009 at 02:54 PM

Belak is putting together a nice season..........Leafs are brutal for letting him go...what a head scratcher Cote is always game and a guy that will trade if you want to...he is a treat for hockey fight fans that don't care about the uniform a guy is wearing Wade dispatches Cote which is expected but Cote can suprise guys so this is still an impressive effort by a guy who is moving into top 5 position this year perhaps

Posted by scorp1on on March 09, 2009 at 06:45 AM

Win Belak... Not a dominating win, but he controlled more and got more punches in and Cote looked too tired to continue. But... er... no... Cote was not in danger of being "killed".

Posted by tattooedkingpin on March 08, 2009 at 11:23 AM

W for Belak

Posted by moneybags on March 08, 2009 at 03:17 PM

belak with the win,the flyers got 2 punks now

Posted by bruiser11 on March 08, 2009 at 05:01 PM

I'm surprised cote wasn't killed here...

Posted by blackgoldfan on March 08, 2009 at 07:35 PM

belak beats down cote.

Posted by Towmater on March 08, 2009 at 03:21 PM

Slight win Belak, but good job Cote for trading punches with the bigger, tougher Belak. I know everyone here hates Cote, but he is always willing and is tough for his size.

Posted by ETHREE on March 09, 2009 at 11:23 AM

Win Belak and I am a Cote fan. Im not too sure what cotes problem has been of late.. im glad we got carcillo though finally a REAL fighter

Posted by ianneitzke on March 09, 2009 at 04:49 PM

Belak got a lot of hits in. Cote tried to hold him tight, but Belak got him pretty solidly a few times. Edge Belak

Posted by smackdown time on March 09, 2009 at 03:29 PM

Cote gets his ass whipped again. Shocker. Dude should just wear a skirt when he goes on the ice.

Posted by gmann14 on March 09, 2009 at 09:03 AM

Cote is a punching bag easy win for Belak.

Posted by Fist of Colton on March 10, 2009 at 07:43 PM

Good fight. Belak's gotta deliver a KO blow though. Still a good fight

Posted by kurtenbach on March 09, 2009 at 12:49 PM

Always hated the Flyers but have to love this kid's heart and willingness to take on all comers despite being a light heavyweight. He is an inside fighter and most of the real heavyweights have his number (no exception here) so he will have to adapt his style to enjoy any meaningful success.

Posted by Ortmeyer on March 09, 2009 at 04:40 AM

Good fight. Belak is very underated.

Posted by shrk33 on March 08, 2009 at 09:41 PM

Nice scrap, Belak wins

Posted by bloodyknuckles2 on March 08, 2009 at 01:01 PM

Belak gets the win but Cote surprised me by not hugging him to death. he actually threw and landed a few decent punches.

Posted by FyrKyllr on March 08, 2009 at 01:45 AM

Nice Bout, Belak With The Best Landed, Cote Seems To Continue His On And Off Year. Times He Looks Great An Others Not So Much. Still Good To See A Good Fight With Not 2 Throws Then Losing Their Balance.

Posted by 187Jeremy on March 08, 2009 at 08:35 PM

Decent tilt. What did the Leafs get from Florida for Belak? 4th round pic?

Posted by Wensinkfan on March 09, 2009 at 02:53 AM

I love the way Cote fights. In your face style that demands the same back. However here Belak is the one to get a few more in. Great fight with Belak winning.

Posted by ETR on March 08, 2009 at 04:29 PM

Belak with the win. Cote's fights are always entertaining even if he doesn't win too many

Posted by mikebflorida on March 08, 2009 at 02:21 PM

Another win for Belak. Best fighter in the NHL right now. Cote did pretty well considering.

Posted by Sasky001 on March 08, 2009 at 12:14 PM

Belak with a win against a weaker opponent.

Posted by BooSanta on March 10, 2009 at 08:52 PM

This is what the fight fans want from Rockem Sockem Riley, not sure that getting rocked and socked is what Riley had in mind. He doesn't get in too close here and has to fight like he did last year which gives Belak a considerable advantage as he out slugs Cote to get a solid win here a a nice vicious scrap. Even the Philly announcers can only say Cote fought a good fight by still standing afterwards. You can tell the guy they were rooting for lost though.

Posted by b.t.wilson on March 08, 2009 at 11:08 AM

Belak most certainly won this fight but Cote has looked much better in his last few fights thank God, because I am a huge fan of his. Called it a 7.

Posted by smwarpig63 on March 08, 2009 at 10:10 AM

Belak with the slight win. Maybe carcillo can teach cote a thing or two about winning fights. Still there is no fighter with more heart the cote.

Posted by woodape on March 08, 2009 at 09:40 PM

I'll say this for Cote...he can take a punch! Two bombs from Belak didn't even faze Cote. Belak won doubt about that. Belak deserves a title shot the way he has fought this year. Too bad the champ is out with a back injury. I guess he will just have to beat up Boogaard again.

Posted by bruins rule on March 08, 2009 at 09:58 AM

belak gets the win in this fight.

Posted by kimocoyote on March 08, 2009 at 08:22 PM

Belak, win not close. Good fight.

Posted by bruiseyoureye on March 08, 2009 at 01:25 AM

belak smeared the ice with cote........that was just a major pounding by belak on cote......not even close....easy win to belak

Posted by MajorGroove on March 08, 2009 at 03:45 AM

I'm losing interest in Cote. Belak is too much for Riley here so Riley bails out with the pin on the boards and waits for the refs. Belak didn't dominate but clearly wins. Gave it a 7.

Posted by drjones on March 08, 2009 at 08:59 AM

Belak with the win. mcb798 loses again as his losing streak continues.

Posted by giantsfrey on March 08, 2009 at 11:09 PM

good fight. belak definitely fought better and got in more/better hits. cote seemed to be muscling him around though and pushing him around at the end. win belak

Posted by ogie ogiltorpe on March 09, 2009 at 01:37 AM

Cote always willing and almost always exception here

Posted by leafslover85 on March 08, 2009 at 09:52 AM

i gotta agree with ONE DEAD HEAD on the act that cote is not a heavy weight but he looks like he has lost alot of confidence compared to his earlyer fights

Posted by Iceboss on March 08, 2009 at 03:35 AM

Good fight Belak with the win.

Posted by mjb_17 on March 09, 2009 at 12:56 AM

No draw here! Win for Belak

Posted by K.O.cur_26 on March 08, 2009 at 06:04 AM

Belak definately outlanded Cote here, after feeding Cote a series of lefts, Cote was just trying to hang on.

Posted by Buckster on March 08, 2009 at 02:41 PM

Good scrap, easy win for Belak, Cote is not in his class

Posted by boomer belak on March 08, 2009 at 03:15 PM

Belak pushing the event. Cote inside protecting and holding on for the most part. Toronto has 5 guys doing what Belak did alone. That is their MO as was done with Clark and Domi. No respect for those who protected team over the years. Just cut loose.

Posted by flyerfighter73 on March 08, 2009 at 05:03 PM

Have to give the edge to Belak. Although Cote did pretty good for himself. This was av very entertaining scrap.

Posted by PA GI Joe on March 08, 2009 at 10:03 AM

Not a fan of Cote's team, but you got to like this guy when it comes to fighting. He is pretty fearless and will mix it up with anyone. Factor in that he is not a hugger and one of the most entertaining fighters in the league -- good recipe for team tough guy. He's lost a lot this year -- and I gave him a slight loss here, but he knows his role and plays it well for his team. I gave this one an 8 -- would have like to have gone higher, but they both fizzled at the end....maybe they both hurt each other???

Posted by BAAAAANNERMAAAN on March 09, 2009 at 12:42 PM

Cote is an overrated fighter..................clearly can't hang with the likes of Wade...........

Posted by Belak_Norris on March 08, 2009 at 04:19 PM

Good fight, but I have to give it to my man, Belak!

Posted by GSP09 on March 08, 2009 at 01:35 PM

Slight edge to Belak But a very good one.

Posted by kylethrashers on March 09, 2009 at 05:17 AM

Posted by joeye4 on March 08, 2009 at 11:16 AM

Edge to Belak but a close and really excellent fight.

Posted by Clark75 on March 08, 2009 at 11:25 PM

Way to go Wade!

Posted by probie83 on March 09, 2009 at 03:52 PM

Good bout by both guys

Posted by pepsigenerate on March 08, 2009 at 09:28 AM

that was a really good fight{can,t complain about that one}, 24 punches for wade belak and 13 punches, for riley cote.... now that was a true heavyweight bout .{those heavyweight bouts are what fans really wanna see/also the solid lightweight fighters. ........ carcillo and de vries NO carcillo and tootoo YES.

Posted by mcb789 on March 08, 2009 at 03:30 AM

cote with the very easy win in this bout. great fight. COTE STREAK CONTINUES: COTE HAS NOT LOST A FIGHT ALL SEASON!!!

Posted by EDDUBBS on March 08, 2009 at 09:40 AM

I gave the win to cote, since it is a draw and I didn't like some of the lopsided comments. Belak and Cote are tough, with Belak one of the best in the league. Without guys like these this league would be boring with the overabundance of pussies in this No Hit League.

Posted by Warcraft3 on March 08, 2009 at 10:41 AM

shut up homers, a draw

Posted by Oil Can Henry on March 08, 2009 at 09:57 AM

The announcers really got excited over this one, was only, " ok ", if that. Too many blocked and missed punches. No winner.

Posted by Nightshade88 on March 08, 2009 at 12:43 AM

Alright fight. I give it a draw.

Posted by tomales2 on March 08, 2009 at 11:52 AM

Posted by samtheman on March 09, 2009 at 06:50 PM

Pretty good scrap. If I had to pick a winner it would be Belak but this was close enough to call a draw in my book.

Posted by NDR72 on March 08, 2009 at 10:34 AM

For real, Rock 'em Sock 'em. I would have to say it's a draw, but it was entertaining.

Posted by illukka on March 08, 2009 at 04:31 PM

Posted by mrsnake on March 13, 2009 at 07:22 PM

Once again Cote shows why he's the number 1 punching bag in the NHL!

Posted by CocoQuaker7 on March 08, 2009 at 11:40 AM

I like how Jackson, Cote, and Jonesy play-up Cote like he fought a good fight. Belak controlled the entire fight, with Cote pinning him against the boards and wating for the linesmen to jump in.

Posted by bigdog2007 on March 09, 2009 at 07:06 AM

Mcb789 is a loser 300 pound fat guy with an hairy back, living in his Mom's basement, smearing peanut butter on his tiny balls so the family dog will play with him. He will say anything for attentionj, and as usual, people respond to his garbage. He wins.

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on March 05, 2015 at 02:58 AM

Both guys hammering, but Belak landed the better

Posted by rocky7482 on March 08, 2009 at 01:15 PM

Belak is too strong, and has better balance

Posted by GShakh on March 08, 2009 at 12:26 PM

win Belak

Posted by BigBadBruins68 on March 08, 2009 at 07:31 PM

Cote's got a chin on him, those were some big shots. Win for Belak.

Posted by one_dead_head on March 08, 2009 at 08:50 AM

First let me say that I am a Flyers fan. Next I will tell you that Cote is not a true heavyweight. Belak wins this one, not by "smearing cote on the ice"but I think he did land a few more good shots. Check out the Riley's height and weight. He give us reach and size in a lot of fights. He is more a cruiser weight guy with big brass balls to take on anyone. Gotta love his heart, but I think he loses more than he wins.

Posted by The Regular on March 08, 2009 at 08:42 PM

Edge Belak. Cote is going to be drooling, diaper-wearin' fool by the time he's 40 with all the punches he takes.

Posted by Dave_42 on March 08, 2009 at 07:00 PM

Gave Belak the nod here.

Posted by bigwilly37 on March 08, 2009 at 05:27 PM

Wade Belak = Comeback fighter of the year... Good campaign thus far... Bring him back to blue and white!!

Posted by redwhiteblue on March 08, 2009 at 12:13 PM

Good fight, I think a win for Belak but, Cote doesn't have to surrender his lunch money.

Posted by TrueBlue26 on March 08, 2009 at 03:45 PM

sweeeet fight...belak with the slight edge

Posted by rdemps01 on March 08, 2009 at 11:57 AM

Total domination for Belak.

Posted by goody72 on September 12, 2009 at 09:05 PM

Belak with the win. Say what you want about Cote, but he is tough as nails. Win, lose, or draw, he always shows up for a fight. As a ranger fan, i have alot of respect for Cote. Would take him in NY any day.
