Richards did do badly but Paetsch landed some really good shots.

Posted by sasso09 on December 23, 2007 at 09:52 PM

To the people saying richards can't fight and paetsch beat him.... the first fight richards destroyed him and this fight (i was there) was a draw. Richards was off balance fell got up and landed the best punch of the fight. after that paetsch did nothing but try to tackle richards down to avoid the inevitable beating he would have recieved, richards would beat paetsch 99 out of 100 times.

Honestly....what a bunch of homers calling the game. The play-by-play guy is calling punches that never even happened. I usually watch the clips without the sound so as not to influence my judgement but its nice to hear it now and then.

What the heck was the announcer watching? He named about 10-12 blows that were not even thrown LOL.

Posted by Rebel Banker on December 23, 2007 at 08:40 PM

paetsch tryin to get revenge for last year's beatin...not much action

Posted by rebjjjjj on December 24, 2007 at 02:54 PM

not bad..a little too much wrestling going on but an okay little scrap

Posted by ploplopfizzfizz on December 23, 2007 at 08:01 PM

Draw..nothing seem to land after watching a couple times

Posted by foiledup on March 01, 2008 at 12:27 PM

Mike with win. Paetsch didnt land much.

Posted by penguinsfan123 on December 23, 2007 at 05:54 PM

i give paetsch the win because cote got the other one for some reason

Posted by ebscer on December 24, 2007 at 12:41 PM

two occasional fighters, but Paetsch wins big here... Paetsch got some good shots in early and than Richards just turtled the rest of the fight...

Posted by hockey doc on December 23, 2007 at 04:36 PM

crap fight, Paetsch throws one punch the hugs Richards to death. If you are going to drop em, go at it.

Posted by BSTnougat on November 24, 2008 at 03:47 PM

Richards always takes the helmut off...gotta love that. Paetsch landed a couple good shots but then he didnt want to throw anymore and just tried to take him down..that was pretty weak.

Posted by Philly_fighters on December 24, 2007 at 01:33 PM

For those of you trashing Richards: Richards is actually a very good fighter. If you actually watched the fight his jersey got hung up and he couldn't free himself up. Most guys who score as much as Richards would never drop the gloves but Richards is a true complete hockey player and won't back down from a fight.

cmon guys,i give the edge to paetsch...but seriously nothing lands....he looks good throwing all those wild ass haymakers and i think that influences alot of peoples votes....definitely not one of richards better fights, but once he immediately lost his balance,he never could get back into it...i honestly think he could have given it to richards once his jersey was over the head, but paetsch seemed more interested in trying to just take him down at times.....slight edge to paetsch, but would like to see em go again

Posted by Flyersfan4life2 on December 26, 2007 at 11:45 AM

I just feel that richards never got a good grip, and slipped in the beginning. Last year he destroyed Paetsch. And i think if they fought again, richards would destroy him. Everyones saying that there arent any flyers that cant fight. Um, looks to me that cote destroyed a heavyweight in peters 2 times in back to back nights. Im sorry the flyers fighters dont like to just grab on with there right hand and hold there opponents at a distance like most fighters are doing these days. Cote and richards get in close and go Toe-toe with everyone

Posted by JDForCommish on December 24, 2007 at 04:30 PM

i'd give the win to Paetsch but i didn't think it was as bad as you people are making it. Richards is a tough kid, nathan knew it and therefore outwrestled him, end of story. I personally hate both teams so this comes with no bias.

Posted by Remyy on December 24, 2007 at 12:32 PM

Richards just couldn't get started or his balance. Loses...hate those jerseys!

Posted by domiruled on December 23, 2007 at 11:17 PM

flyweights, draw

Posted by aces50 on December 24, 2007 at 06:54 AM

Does Philly have anybody that can win a fight?

Posted by IMPEACH on December 23, 2007 at 04:36 PM

Richards isn't going to collect on his 12 years fighting like that. He looked like Cote or Eager. The Flyers have got to be the worst fighting team in the league.

Richards lost!! But to say the flyers have no tough guys is true bull! 1 month ago we were taliking about the bullies and now they are P*****! If u have no clue about hockey or never dropped the gloves on ice. Shut Up!!! Richards is an ELITE player and any GM would sign him for what he got! Oh by the way COTE beat the S*** out of Peters the night before! But all Flyers haters had there head in the pooper so they did not know!!

RIchards goes down!~

Posted by bickerjr on January 24, 2008 at 07:26 PM

Wow, a lot of haters for the Flyers. I hear a lot of homer talk on here but i think it's more of a bunch of whiners remembering their teams getting pounded for years by the Flyers. Richards is top 5 in the league as far as a scorer and fighter now. He doesn't back down from anyone regardless of size. Paetsch got the nod this time but relax Flyer haters, take a look at Richards' fight card before you say he can't fight.

Posted by mrpimp4 on December 23, 2007 at 01:08 PM

great respect from both players to start it off, nathan whooped his ass though.

Posted by chl37 on December 24, 2007 at 08:39 AM

paetsch gives it to richards pretty good, although philly fans see it as a draw through their rose colored glasses.

Posted by BattleAxe13 on December 23, 2007 at 07:53 PM

Richards was hanging on for dear life. If he wants to live out that rediculous 12 year deal he would be wise not to do that again. Paetsch with the win

Posted by Juha82 on December 23, 2007 at 03:26 PM

Paetsch got revenge as they fights on last season though. narrow win for him controlling the fight.,

Posted by flyersphan27 on December 23, 2007 at 07:17 PM

i am a huge mike richards fan but he did not do to well here. he is a very gutsy player and can usually hold his own with bigger guys..he will drop them with anyone...

Posted by tsbjr33 on December 24, 2007 at 03:24 PM

Richards took Paetsch way too lightly and Paetsch let him have it. Two well placed upper-cuts, Richards was lucky to not get carried off on a strecher...

Posted by kennyj76 on December 23, 2007 at 08:30 PM

gotta give it to paetsch. serously he killed richards. for once paetsch completely owned someone lol

Posted by wallysy1 on December 23, 2007 at 01:35 PM

solid win by paetsch. uppercut hurt.

Good slugfest

Posted by Jake98 on December 25, 2007 at 12:06 PM

Nice square off

Posted by buff48 on December 23, 2007 at 03:16 PM

that first punch paetsch had was amazing as was the uppercut he had somewhere in the middle. and to seal the deal, richards was the one who fell first. needless to say, paetsch had this under control. not bad for the first fight of the season either.

Posted by pinney29 on December 23, 2007 at 03:21 PM

Domination by paetsch

Posted by glovedropper08 on December 23, 2007 at 05:51 PM

w paetsch

Posted by Flyers0292 on March 11, 2008 at 03:35 AM

This is such a crock of shit Paetsch didnt even give richards a chance to throw, he tied him up as soon as it started trying to wrestle him to the ground the entire time, what a pussy.....richards is the most complete player in the game right now, well maybe second behind iginla.

Posted by perezj on December 24, 2007 at 08:23 AM

These hometown announcers are a joke. Richards stood in there nicely even though he was outweighed big time.

Posted by predator8812 on December 27, 2007 at 02:43 AM

Draw. Paetsch landed one uppercut it seemed and nothing else. Everyone is probably voting for Paetsch since it looked like he killed Richards with the first punch when really he hit his shoulder and Richards had slipped. This one should not be voted so much in Paetsch's favor.

Posted by rocky7482 on December 27, 2007 at 05:37 PM

Not a great fight, but both guys get kudos for chucking the lids. This should be a staple in every pre-mediatated fight.

Posted by Spaz on December 24, 2007 at 10:16 PM

There are a lot of heavies that would have just flopped to the ice if they got off to the start that Richards did. Either because they wouldn't have the balance to right themselves or the competitiveness to keep going. Richards does everything for the flyers. I look forward to seeing him play out that contract in philly.

Posted by CocoQuaker7 on December 24, 2007 at 07:39 AM

I give the edge to Paetsch. Richards is the only Philly fighter worth watching, and it's not even his thing.

Posted by bostonrs555 on December 23, 2007 at 06:09 PM

It's a DEEERAW!!! man, looked even to me, you can't tell if anyone is landing, even the uppercut Paetsch threw at the end is suspect!!!! not good enough for a win buffalo, sorry........

Posted by Viper207 on December 23, 2007 at 02:07 PM

They almost went down early. It's too bad for Richards that they didn't.

Posted by mikebflorida on December 24, 2007 at 09:07 AM

Another pretty lousy fight. Way to much hugging and jersey pulling, not enough punching going on in most of these fights. It's getting old quick. If two guys want to shed the mitts and throw down, shouldn't they actually hit each other? What was that announcer screaming about? Uppercut? Overhand right? By who? Was he watching a boxing match cuz he certainly wasn't watching the hockey game.
