Rising like two ex-T-Rex's from the La Brea tar pits... Chara puts shift fatigue aside and confidently handles an exceedingly brave but ultimately incapable pretender to the throne of giants Oleksiak seemed a little hesitant throughout but then again I'm sure that I'd be thinking "thrice" if that megalodon behemoth started chucking uppercuts at me from a different postal code Short sweet and holy crap all in one sitting Nice stuff
Too bad we had to listen to Jack Edwards call this. The Network guys called it much better. Neither guy landed anything meaningful. It look to me like they both landed one and missed a few. Both were totally gassed. I would like to see this with both guys just off the bench. The Boston voters have to be excluded...it was just a draw.
I would like to see the vote tally without the Boston homers spewing their usual trash.
that announcer is terrible.... I expected more, chara went looking for it and he just quit after a couple of harmless helmet shots, dont really know if anything actually landed, expected more from a couple of big guys , it was a pretty lame fight, more hype than punchs. Draw.. Im still shocked to see Chara stay on his feet and fight or at least try to, pretty tame and lame for a couple of big dudes.. I laugh at all the soft boston fans making excuses for Chara, oh he was so tired, long shift lol, Chara hardly moves when he is on the ice, like a big pylon. Draw, uneventful, boring, nothing landing, and Chara just quit .
Chara was definitely tired, after the 1:39+ hard shift to go with Jamie, but I give him the nod in this giant man fight. If he wasn't on fumes from the long shift, he woulda gassed Oleksiak, big time. Kudos for both huge men stepping up!
Draw. If I had to pick a loser, it's the annoying big mouth announcer. Guys an idiot.
The Twin Towers decide to dangle... Each landed a couple of shots, but none better than Chara's to uppercuts which landed pretty dead on. Slight edge to Chara but great respect to Oleksiak for dropping the gloves and taking on the Giant of Giants, and not dropping to his knees when he ate those stiff rights
It's hard to say anything but a draw. Was going to say Chara, he was busier. But then again... neither uppercut bothered him at all. Draw
Chara offers up the challenge after a three minute shift and at worse it's a draw, more likely a Chara win. Big time grown man stuff there.
The Big Z and The Big O drop them to decide who's the Big Boss. Chara with a three minute shift and still able to scrap Oleksiak on even terms. I could see an edge to Chara but I'm going with a Draw.
Chara landed 2 maybe 3 and Olek got maybe 1. Zdeno and a 5 Oleksiak is scary, but so is Chara. I'd love to see them go if they were both fresh.
I was very excited when i saw these two names pop up I have been an outspoken fan of Oleksiak for awhile now He’s beat some pretty tough customers.. albeit shorter ones This is the first time he’s taken on a guy who sees eye to eye with him And for whatever reason, he looked timid I guess a pissed off Zdeno Chara could have that effect on anyone Rarely do we get to see Chara stay on his skates for a whole fight And this was one of those rare occasions He stood in there and landed a few that caught Oleksiak He also took a few.. all while at the end of a long shift Good to see Z still banging at a top notch level Good to see Oleksiak standing up to one of the more intimidating guys of the last decade + Just hope to see a bit more from Oleksiak next time Get that big rig going!
Agree with most of the people here, edge maybe to Chara in kind of a non-fight. I'm marking this a draw.
Not much of a fight no damage done Bhen Wilson you are full of ------
DRAW! Oleksiak at least has b---s
Not seeing Chara a winner here.....even steven!
HornQ layed down solid clean hit on McAvoy(?? I believe) & Chara looking for something since than.... biased Bean Town announcers made me think O was knocked out or something.... & blah excuse Chara was gassed.... 15' and 500 lbs of solid badass dudes going at it... gotta love that!!! easy draw
Lurch (Chara) decisions Herman Munster (Big Rig).
You call that a fight
Oleksiak not so tuff when he can;t reach. And Reaves is gone ?? Pittsburgh Pansies.
Big Bird with a slight edge over OldLeakSack
Edge to Chara as the two big Titans collide!
Chara with the win over a hesitant Oleksiak in the battle of the giants
Assumably the first time Oleksiak has ever felt small. I guess, maybe when discussing the family sports genetics. As much as I dislike Uncle Jack's fight calls (please unblock me on twitter if you're reading this) His enthusiastic "YEAH!!!" at the beginning speaks for us all. Win for the Big(ger) man. & 4.
Chara with the W.
Chara looks to be a clear winner, not even bringing into account age etc.
win to Chara, after long shift and against Oleksiak´s shield still more landed..
The 40 year old Chara was on the ice killing that penalty, but still gave Oleksiak more than he wanted. Win to Chara.
two big guys going at it wish it was a bit better but still not too bad
Chara win, impressive that he could do that after a full PK shift plus an additional minute on the ice
Talk about super heavyweights. I don't think the fight was as good as it could have been. But Z doesn't fight as much as he used to do. This is how it should have been like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xbyb4mI1bYo But in the instant fight I did think Z did enough to win it. Oleksiak couldn't find his range on the bigger Chara.
All big Chara ..... totally energizes the crowd
Chars won because he's FORTY freakin ONE years old! Fun fight. Ill admit Jack had a rough call
Chara more active....Oleksiak more or less holding on. Win Chara
Impressive showing by the Big Z at the end of a shift. But I do think Penny's bro will get better. And let's face it, in the National Pu$$y League, pretty soon, if not already, he may be the last remaining super-heavy.
Impressive by the big C,after a long shift. I expect a couple of games for Hornqvist for that check to the head on McAvoy...
Chara was on the ice for penalty kill and still did a great jobs. Enjoy him while he is still playing. Big salute Capt Z.
Chara , at 41 and at the end of a long shift, takes on a 25 year old of nearly the same size....and he stayed on his feet, lol
Oleksiak should be thanking his face shield for helping him keep some teeth. Clear cut win for Chara
To big guys going at it never mind a 40 year old. Penguins are a team of cry babies. Did you all the acting last night. You touch a guy and they go flying. I hate the Penguins like everybody else.
Chara is a big dumb asshole. Go train for Olympic wrestling some more you big boob.
Horrible fight I wouldn't even call it a fight maybe roughing all they did was spin each other in a circle missing contact till they both surrendered
Neither one landed a clean blow and neither dominated. Definitely a draw.
Best watched on mute given Edwards on play-by-play.
Nice scrap but nothing great
Definitely a draw in my opinion. Both got some fair shots in. Oleksiak did what he had too considering Chara's size.
Draw. Chara didn't "win" by any means.
Chara has met his match. A spirited bout but no damage. Oleksiak is the reason that Pittsburg traded Reaves.
Only a biased Bruins fan would see this as a victory for Chara. Everybody else sees the draw as it clearly is....
Oleksiak: "dude, I kinda don't wanna but I gotta" Chara: "I'm gassed and don't really want to either.. but the Swede keeps running around and never answers for his mouth" Chara with a really solid uppercut as the differentiator. Gave it a 5.
LOL. "Z" and a 5.
this is the first time i see chara actualy fight. thought it was close the first time i saw it but with these angles ill give the win to chara. doesnt seem like oleksiak lands much.
It's amazing anyone voted for Jamie. I love the no one landed anything comment it is almost like you had your eyes closed. Jamie's nose disagrees with you. https://www.google.com/search?q=chara+punch+jamie&client=ms-android-verizon&prmd=ivsn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiy6ta59dDZAhXBxlkKHWsrCyIQ_AUIESgB&biw=360&bih=660#imgrc=Mky-SZvYuJKuTM:
Chara just killed a penalty and still beat the 6'7" 255lb Pitt. boy.Don Cherry was right they should have kept Reaves...lol.
It's nice to see a Chara fight where he doesn't immediately lose his balance and fall over.
Chara at the end of a typical long shift..both traded and maybe Chara landed one of those upper cuts. If you watched this game it had a playoff feel. More to come with these two teams
Everyone wanted to see this and we got it. The stare down was sweet. Both guys were gassed but went for it anyway. Not a lot of chances for two D-men to square off, they got it at an non-optimal time, but gave it to the fans anyway. Good stuff.
CHARA let up on him in the end..... could have really damaged hkm!
I saw only one punching landing and it was on Chara's face.
If you look at the fight closely you will see J.O. Land a shot that stopped Z.C. for a second. And it was a good shot from J.O. Z.C. Landed but nothing behind the punch, got to give it to J.O. After looking at the scrap a few times.
Chara hates it when they punch back and dim his lights. No lessons to be taught to Oleksiak so why insist...lol . Might just avoid him from now on, just like he avoided John Scott.
I thought this was a good fight for guys with very long reaches. I would say this was a draw with the slight edge going to Oleksiak for making Chara seem normal. I hope someone soon pummels Chara.
Draw, nothing to see here except Jack wetting his pants.
If Chara wasn't at the end of his shift he wins this BUT, this fight was a draw!!! I'm sure the Boston faithful be here to make sure it ends up with a Chara win It's funny... you look at votes for all other fights and they might reach 40 or 50, then a Boston fight comes on and we have over 150 votes. Goes to show you how many Boston fans come on here just to vote for their guy!!!
Nobody got hurt here, but Chara looked much more serious about it than Oleksiak. Interesting from a rarity angle, but hardly a great fight.
chara by submission in 4
Chara. Only just.
CHARA maybe but the announcer is such a dick i cant give it to him out of spite
Expected more from these two. Both looked uninterested and tired. That being said I give a slight nod to Oleksiak.
In an occurrence the number of times of which he's faced he can probably count on one hand, Chara squares off with someone who can look at him more or less at eye level, and the ensuing kaiju battle is spirited, if not spectacular. While Oleksiak was willing and got a few licks of his own in, the ornery old grizzly takes this battle on the strength of the uppercuts he was slinging from somewhere across the Charles River. It's a thing we unfortunately get to see less and less of these days, and I am gonna miss it when he's gone, but with that in mind, I'll appreciate Captain Colossal and his well-earned win here.
HAHA Bruins haters. The goon from Pittsburgh was scared and abused by Big Chara. Jack Edwards called the fight brilliantly.
Chara fights after a 3min shift...animal.
oleksiak fought someone bigger and got his ass kicked great fighter and still the best in chara, maybe they should have hung onto Reeves a bit longer, bruins in 5 playoffs
I have to say in all the years all the way back to David Koci, I haven't seen too many players go toe to toe with Chara without hitting the ice; then again not alot of guys stand eye to eye and have 5lbs on Zdeno Chara. Good fight to a draw with the slight edge to Oleksiak for being the only guy I've seen bring Chara to the shoulder tap and walk away.
