Solid punches from an absurdly strong man. Retribution combined with domination gives an extra couple of points!

Posted by King of Goons on November 14, 2015 at 09:54 PM

Christine Kreider jumps Smith and lands several right hands before Smith knows what's happening. I hate to give a girl like Kreider a win, but Smith did absolutely nothing here.

Posted by Humper on November 14, 2015 at 08:11 PM

For a guy not known for fighting, Kreider manages to dump a fair bit of hurt on Smith in a short time. And deservedly so.

Posted by ToadNav135 on November 15, 2015 at 08:44 AM

This is more like the hockey I grew up on... protect your teammates!

Posted by first 6 on November 14, 2015 at 05:31 PM

Kreider the clear winner, but came out the loser on the penalty minutes. Way to back up your team. This kid has been an asset to the Rangers.

Posted by BennyD on November 16, 2015 at 03:00 PM

Get rid of the instigator rule and all the "garbage" will stop. Kreider did the right thing, 6 and a clear W. Dirty play should always mean you have to stand up for it.

Posted by JustinL611 on November 14, 2015 at 04:23 PM

Kreider steps in after the headshot on Stepan. Smith was probably not expecting punches but took a few there before Kreider takes him down. Giving the nod to Kreider on this based on punches landed I count 6-1.

Posted by TrueBlue16 on November 14, 2015 at 05:18 PM

Good job by Kreider for doing the right thing. He's so strong, it goes to show how said strong he is being a non fighter and just taking care of business. Solid showing.

Posted by MickMan on November 14, 2015 at 05:35 PM

Nice to see Kreids stip up for Stepan. Not sure why he got the 10-minute miscounduct?

Posted by bigmike53 on November 15, 2015 at 01:41 AM

Kreider does a nice job and shows off that Samson like strength to get the "W".

Posted by Eatit on November 14, 2015 at 09:30 PM

Smith got pool jumped and deserved it

Posted by Behn Wilson on November 14, 2015 at 10:24 PM

Travelling with work and reviewing backwards to catch up... Here we find Kreider limitedly doing the right thing... while Smith seems happy to spend his time getting karmically repaid for a series of bad decisions

Posted by LicoriceBiscuit on November 15, 2015 at 01:24 PM

I read things like "strong" and "hurt" et cetera but for getting the jump on Smith and landing a number of punches Smith looked unfazed and unhurt from this "epic" beatdown Ranger fans described. Whom is this "Samson" person mentioned? Not the legendary Hebrew strongman? Please do not mix these two together…Please!!! such a stretch. I will give Krieder props for standing up for a teammate, and doing what someone should have, and also believe that the game would be better if they allowed this type of self policing to continue. But lets not get crazy, Smith looked like he just got he's hair cut and not the recipient of this epic beatdown by ranger fans and dubbed some sort of superman I've been reading about . Win Kreider and mad props to the guy for stepping in for a teammate.

Smith looking for trouble, found it, and it didn't work out well for him, dominated. Kreider is becoming a top power forward in the NHL, really growing into that role.

Posted by Reeferman1967 on November 15, 2015 at 09:47 AM

Smith......if that's his real name. Nah can't do it today my fellow posters...... Hump, Swine and EK got it. Thanks brothers

Posted by okterrific00 on November 15, 2015 at 09:40 PM

Kreider total domination - sticking up for Stepan..

Posted by Rich5Spot on November 16, 2015 at 03:12 PM

Rangers have no real toughness so non fighters like Kreider have to step up for their teammates. He is Big but not a fighter. Did a god job here against an agitator guy who is not a good fighter. Wins the fight but probably wins more from his teammates

Posted by von_swine on November 14, 2015 at 10:57 PM

hand the badge and sidearm to Kreider for that FINE example of on-ice policing.... Zack pays the 'iron price' for that headshot in a beauty display of old school regulating. #20 FTW

Posted by WhyGo77 on November 14, 2015 at 05:32 PM

Few good lands by Kreider. Strong kid.

Posted by doobi1 on November 15, 2015 at 10:49 AM

Kreider pounded Smith's face similar to a Yankee catcher pounding his catchers mitt before the pitcher let's one fly. Win and a 6. One point for every smack landed in this one and the WIN to Kreider.

Posted by bigjack on November 14, 2015 at 10:26 PM

Looked like a Nick Fotiu type of fight where he lands 5-6 punches and with tremendous strength then overpowers the guy and skates away without breaking a sweat. The only difference was a helmet, no boxing stance, and Nick had faster hands. Good job by Kreider.

Posted by ferdip on November 20, 2015 at 08:29 PM

Kreider kicked ass

Posted by czervy on November 15, 2015 at 07:46 PM

Obvious kreider win. For those of you who posted that it was a surprise attack or that smith was jumped, shame on you. If you deliver a cheap shot, let alone a blatant head shot, you should expect to answer for it immediately. Smith has been around long enough to know what will happen if you hit someone like that, let alone the teams top center. The referees were terrible the entire game so the extra minutes to kreider is no surprise.

Posted by F_CKERS on November 14, 2015 at 11:50 PM

Crier all the way in this toss. Schmiity had his mouth open at the beginning and end waiting for you know what.

Posted by aalvino323 on November 16, 2015 at 08:50 AM

Kreider is a beast

Posted by 5minmajor22 on November 16, 2015 at 08:00 PM

great job by Kreider!!! hope to see more of it. I'm glad to see kreider didnt look to AV for his blessing to scrap, unlike with Subban. CK needs to show more of that mean streak.... King of Goons, u got it wrong. U must be a disgruntled habs fan

Posted by Rangercop on November 17, 2015 at 06:41 PM

You have to love Kreider for taking the slash then sticking up for his teammate. They need to get McCalrath in the line up more.

Posted by DaniNYR on November 15, 2015 at 11:27 AM

Happy to see Kreider throw those big fists at someone who deserves it. He did great for someone that doesn't usually fight. Keep it up Kreids!

Posted by Doooz on November 17, 2015 at 12:54 PM

Even the announcer thought Kreider didn't deserve the instigator. The NHL wants to be serious about protecting players from injuries then decide not suspend Smith for at least one game just to set an example to other players.

Posted by Mounty in NC on November 15, 2015 at 10:56 AM

Kreider destroys Smith....but loses points for a surprise attack.

Posted by 1940rip on November 15, 2015 at 02:52 PM

Took care of business in short order.

Posted by PlayColton on November 15, 2015 at 11:23 AM

A perfect example of self policing a hockey game. A dirty hit results in having to answer the bell and justice is served by Kreider. In the end, nobody ends up seriously hurt and a message of intolerance was delivered for the remainder of the game. The instigator penalty is despicable. They've already softened the game so much that there are barely enforcer types left, so it's time to remove the extra 2 and 5 if they're serious about deterring head shots and dirty hits.

Posted by ericwilliam on November 15, 2015 at 02:23 PM

Kreider jumps smith... I'd like to see a rematch where they can actually square off.

Posted by ironbar44 on November 17, 2015 at 07:58 AM

KREIDER can play.here in ny we get to see him play a lot. he looks great one day horrible the next. i keep thinking he will turn into 35 goals but he disappears. tonight he did the right thing ,this team has no muscle .2 losses all season it hasnt hurt them yet.

Posted by Gunslinger on November 16, 2015 at 09:03 AM

Kreider should do more of this......he's not bad at it.

Posted by EK65 on November 14, 2015 at 11:06 PM

Smith with the cheapshot and then the beating laid upon him.

Posted by McPhee37 on November 18, 2015 at 11:46 AM

Kreider win cause he surprising Smith (who I dislike greatly). will interesting to see if Krider gives Smith a rematch in next matchup...prob not, but assume Mcilrath will dress for that one, if still on team...

Posted by Walt on March 15, 2016 at 09:13 PM

Love it. Smith is a shithead.

Posted by Nystrom_23 on November 14, 2015 at 09:14 PM

Isn't Kreider the guy who always "accidentally" runs goalies? Guess he didn't realize where on the ice he was.

Posted by DARCY T on November 28, 2015 at 12:34 PM

kreider felt obliged to stand up for stepan who embellished almost hit by smith.he looked stronger and got the W against more experienced fighter

Posted by hockeyboy10106 on November 14, 2015 at 11:20 PM

Not a great fight but at least punches were thrown

Posted by shearer2 on November 15, 2015 at 08:14 AM

Well done Chris. A cheap headshot on Stepan by Smith and he deserved more than what he got. I guess the instigator rule is more important to the NHL than players receiving concussions.

Posted by Ripper20 on November 16, 2015 at 02:45 PM

Cheers to Krieder for sticking up for a teammate after a questionable hit. Once engaged, it was all Krieder. Too bad he took the extra misconduct for his actions.

Posted by rocky 1 on November 16, 2015 at 01:33 AM

TKO Kreider !

Posted by Great Murray on November 15, 2015 at 08:21 PM

Bull chit hit by Smith...he took a head shot and took a real beating from Kreider. Great job by Kreider. Bettman, you can stick your instigator penalty where the sun doesn't shine .........without lube!

Posted by kkdowning on November 15, 2015 at 10:10 AM

Kreider shows his strength and balance and wins this against Smith -- a guy who used to know what he was he was doing. To be fair to Smith, Kreider may have started throwing before Smith had the gloves off. Back to press box for Mr. Smith. Don't like the extra minutes for Kreider in this context.

Posted by BruinsAllDaySon on November 15, 2015 at 01:32 PM

"How to lose a fight" by Zach Smith.

Posted by Big_Fat_Dan on November 15, 2015 at 04:02 AM

Looks like those boxing lessons paid off. I fear the Rags will be up for the worst enforcing team this year. Good job thou Kreid's

Posted by FHgrad99 on November 15, 2015 at 06:14 PM

Not one of Zack Smith's finer moments. He takes a dumb penalty and then loses decisively to Kreider in the fight.

Posted by woolly mammoth on November 14, 2015 at 09:16 PM

Zach Smith with a dirty hit Chris Kreider, what a fighter At least when motivated and full of hatred Smith was out-muscled and outmatched Kreider punched him and put him on his ass

Posted by The Mob on November 14, 2015 at 08:30 PM

Sorry ... not allowed to win a fight with those powder puff slaps !
