Props to Oshie for hanging in there.

All I hear is people snivelling about how "skilled players" shouldn't be fighting tough guys. Maybe skilled players shouldn't run tough guys without fear of retaliation, or like Oshie did, be a man and take your beating. Since when is this a two tier league where some players are not allowed to be hit by other players because they are too "skilled"? The NHL has turned into a joke and this site seems to be following suit with the kinder, gentler hockey fan that can't handle too much excitement or violence. If you want everything politically correct and are easily offended, piss off and watch hockey on ESPN's nightly highlights...

For someone who hardly ever fights, I'd say Oshie held his own. That was one hell of a hit on McQuaid; who knew?

Posted by Canner on October 03, 2015 at 08:30 PM

All around decent work by McQuaid here.... Fought his own battle, went easy on Oshie and also sent him a message. Nothing there to criticize at all.

Posted by Spydervoodoo on October 04, 2015 at 08:20 AM

Crap move by McQuaid, just take the clean hit. Props to Oshie for actually landing a couple of good ones against one of the best fighters in the NHL.

Posted by NYCane on October 04, 2015 at 11:30 AM

Nice check by Oshie to rub out McQuaid on the end boards. Someone needs to learn to take a hit and just keep playing.

Posted by bbout2c on October 03, 2015 at 11:06 AM

Mcquaid one of the the toughest in the the nhl , are you kidding me? he very rarely fights anyone his size , and if he does ,he just barely holds his own! he probably had 8" of reach on oshie and oshie held his own!

Posted by orangecuse on October 05, 2015 at 09:02 PM

Bruins in midseason form get hit clean then run after the guy like little bi*#hes typical Bruins

Posted by Attikdrum on October 05, 2015 at 10:47 AM

McQuaid the awful Yellow Fishy fight a Skilled Player.. What to go Bruins... Way to go.

Posted by dean94harrison on October 02, 2015 at 10:28 PM

I don't like this kind of thing. Oshie is a skill player, he doesn't need to be fighting a mammoth like McQuaid in pre-season no less. I get he's angry and wants revenge for what was a great hit from Oshie, but know your role and your opponents. I mean ffs Torey Krug was right there, he could have taken Oshie and won proabably. McQuaid could come out for his next shift and fight somebody on his level like Wilson or Latta

Posted by DARCY T on October 03, 2015 at 06:03 AM

nice hit by oshie.it wasnt a problem for mcquaid to land clean punches but oshie managed to land a couple of his own.props to oshie for hanging there after a cheap 2 on 1 start...win mcquaid

Posted by jemihami on October 03, 2015 at 06:17 PM

McQuaid is a pussy!

Posted by Jellyczar on October 03, 2015 at 03:32 PM

Oshie got man handled but lives to fight another day...

Posted by MBsez on October 03, 2015 at 03:03 PM

Great clean HIT by TJ ..... TJ fighting after was courageous but not too smart ....McQuaid sulks and goes after a skill player

Posted by ravenmaniacski on October 03, 2015 at 04:24 PM

Great hit from Oshie. Massive grapefruits for standing up and actually trying to fight and not hold onturtle. Mcquaid is a fighter not a tough guy. Its not tough to go after someone who is not even close to being a fighter. Tough is going into a fight knowing you have little to no chance to win. That stupid move could have gotten one of his team mates taken out from retaliation from the Caps. A little surprised no one on the Caps jumped in

Posted by PerryV on October 02, 2015 at 10:35 PM

For better or worse McQuaid is seriously a top 4 D-man on this team now, and he's gotta react better than this. No need to fight TJ Oshie here. I mean come on it's TJ Oshie.

Posted by Seven Train on October 05, 2015 at 09:24 PM

Tough look for Oshie balls>brains

Posted by elsuperjefe on October 03, 2015 at 02:02 PM

Way to hang TJ

Posted by mmadced on October 04, 2015 at 04:26 PM

can you say ass kickin

Posted by nait on October 03, 2015 at 07:25 AM

I give Oshie credit for standing in there but that was a fight he was never going to win

Posted by roostertpd on October 03, 2015 at 06:30 PM

Oshie gets props for dropping the gloves, even though he was WAY out of his weight class. McQuaid took it easy on him. Great hit. Too bad Oshie didn't play more like that in St Louis.

Posted by shred5 on November 24, 2018 at 08:16 PM

Oshie really tried and took his hits and tried to throw them back as best as he could, but he was clearly out of his league against the bigger, stronger McQuad.

Posted by Dammit-Man on October 03, 2015 at 04:53 AM

Honestly Quaider Should have let Krug have that one, More than likely could have been a Great Scrap. Kudos to Oshie for hanging tough, but McQuaid won that hands down

Posted by ironbar44 on October 03, 2015 at 08:06 AM

smacked around

Posted by sernam on October 03, 2015 at 02:23 AM

Oshie put a big check on McQuaid from behind behind the net then Krug started mixing it up with Oshie so in comes McQuaid. Oshie didn't back down but it was decided before it started.

Posted by Titzmgee on October 03, 2015 at 01:59 PM

quaider went easy on him.....could have really put it to this non fighter but showed class. toughest guy in the league today.

Posted by BroonsGoons on October 04, 2015 at 09:49 AM

Darth Gayder, what a pussy.

Posted by AbuNidal on October 05, 2015 at 09:53 AM

McQuaid could have been a real ahole in this fight, but just sent several halfhearted messages to the side of Oshies head. Probably took a little ribbing in the locker room post game

Posted by Nucks_fan on October 02, 2015 at 09:54 PM

Good clean check by the much smaller Oshie - Hung in there ok but no match for Mcquaid.

Posted by pvdrummer2000 on October 11, 2015 at 09:41 PM

Oshie hammered McQuaid, but paid the price with an ass whoopin'

Posted by Big_Fat_Dan on October 05, 2015 at 05:22 AM

Props to Oshie, he came out swinging but McQuaid was just to strong and powerful for TJ

Posted by carchop on October 04, 2015 at 09:19 AM

Good hit by Osh, get's lickins in return.... would have been interesting to see that ballsy little fella Krug get to fight instead of McQuaid ...

Posted by kkdowning on October 05, 2015 at 10:44 PM

A nod to Oshie for not bailing -- he did not win of course and ended up with a nice black eye. It was a strong check that lead to Oshie catching a beating. He should have taken Krug up on the offer ASAP

Posted by Humper on October 03, 2015 at 06:39 PM

All I have to say is that McQuaid is a total putz taking on a guy like Oshie.

Posted by jcstokes on October 07, 2015 at 06:11 PM

McQ took it easy on him. You can see he wasn't all in, but taught TJ a lesson.

Posted by Orielly on October 03, 2015 at 09:18 AM

No match. Kudos for OShie standing up for himself. You wanna hit someone from behind you need to stand up for yourself. Oshie did and gets MAJOR points for that. But he is no match for Quaider.

Posted by travist on October 04, 2015 at 03:39 PM

the bigger mcquaid was taking it easy until oshie popped him one...good hit at first, but would like to see mcquaid just pound ashie into the ice.

Posted by von_swine on October 03, 2015 at 06:01 AM

OWNAGE by McQuaid as we all expected but,..what's T.J. really gonna do in a tilt against him? at least he didn't turtle... nice old school flavor from when the guy who got hit looks for the payback himself,..only next time Adam, don't pick on a skill guy/shootout maven..not good for your rep bruh.. lol. #54 FTW

Posted by NMBbob on October 03, 2015 at 09:04 AM

McQuaid must be very proud of himself-he gets checked legally by a much smaller player, then he goes after this much smaller player for the GOOD HARD check-I'm sick and tired of fights starting over hard, legal, good hockey checks-If you can't take a good check,go back to Juniors- Oh,McQuaid wins fight easily,as he should-

Posted by biddin on October 04, 2015 at 04:43 PM

The instigating call was entirely a reputation thing, if this game counted I'd be offended by it. Krug takes exception to the hit on mcquaid and bumps him a bit, then oshie grabs on, quaider sees this and pulls oshie off his 5'9" partner, then oshie, who admitted later that he didn't know mcquiad was a fighter, actually gets his right glove off first. Would have been easy for quaider to blow this guy away and say "hey, he wanted it" but instead he just throws a few times, and puts him down, rather than throw a haymaker at the end of the fight.. Oshie is a skill guy, but so is krug, and all i really saw is quaider stepping in to defend the smallest and most skilled defenseman on his team, and oshie being determined to fight SOMEONE on this play.

Posted by abcde on October 03, 2015 at 09:35 AM

A little late on that hit against a very big boy. That's what you get. Now that's old time hockey. Nice job by both, TJ for hanging in there and Adam for not destroying TJ.

Posted by AlMan42 on October 06, 2015 at 10:02 AM

Oshie's performance in this one was just as bad as his playoff performances. Biggest disappearing act in hockey when the games get tough. Oshie is gutless.

Posted by MCParker1962 on October 03, 2015 at 10:04 AM

Oshie shouldn't have hit him on the numbers after the puck was gone. McQuaid was going to let it go but Krug was giving Oshie some flak for the hit. Oshie thought he was going to act tough against Krug. That's why McQuaid stepped in. Oshie had the tables turned on him quickly. Not sure how he managed to keep his head attached to his shoulders though. McQuaid pummeled him. I think they had to squeegee the yellow stain off the ice after McQuaid was done with him. You can bet that the coach told Oshie to never drop the gloves again. Now if only P.K. Subban would make the same mistake.

Posted by 4on4 on October 04, 2015 at 07:09 PM

Oshie almost earns the draw at the end, but McQuaid was too strong early.

Posted by omgitslafferty on October 03, 2015 at 01:07 AM

typical bruins fight, with a big fighter going after a small player for a legal hit. all that was missing from this video was jack edwards screaming about all of McQuaid's shots as if he Ko'd oshie

Posted by English_Bruin on October 03, 2015 at 05:06 AM

Does OSHE have a death wish? first the hit on Quaider then picking on one of his best mates on the team :o That could have been a lot worse for him I though Quaider was holding back. Awesome hit though. Some of the comments aimed at McQuaid being a bully are unfair, he has took on anyone, he is one of the leagues toughest.

Posted by boldbilly on October 03, 2015 at 06:40 PM

Typical Boston .....cowardly Mcqueer going after a skill player with that little ballerina Krug starting crap and never backing it up... Some things never change. A bruin gets hit with a clean check and it turns into a scrap......this time a goal scorer Scored this fight a 1 .....for the very brave number 54 .....laughable

Posted by Great Murray on October 03, 2015 at 11:10 AM

Oshie lays a heavy, clean hit on the big boy. Awsome, Peca-esque! Quaider decides a little pay back is in order so he brushes Krug away and tries to play a drum roll on little T.J. He held nothing back as he launched one bomb after another. Luckily for Oshie nothing heavy landed at all. McQuaid gets 6 and the win for easily manhandling the little guy. Oshie get 6 and the loss for getting it on with a real beast. (albeit a somewhat fragile one.) Classic hockey fight! Offensive star, Oshie, takes a fight and loses. But Oshie stands in tough and probably landed a punch. The bottom line is that Washington won this fight. The fight jacked up their team and there was no uptick for the Bruins. Good Stuff...fun to watch!

Posted by FHgrad99 on October 03, 2015 at 05:44 PM

TJ Oshie didn't do as bad as I thought in this fight when I saw who he fought. That said, McQuaid was too big and used his reach to get a win here.

Posted by MichaelFlyers37 on October 07, 2015 at 07:45 PM

I don't like you guys. You're not being fair!!!

Posted by Cro-Kordic on October 03, 2015 at 11:45 AM

Mcquaid is an embarrassment.
