Boyle drops the gloves to up his fantasy value after the ill timed and off-sides slapper,... #54 w/the W in a ho-hum tussle....

Posted by AbuNidal on January 24, 2013 at 12:43 PM

Chintzy crap like that should be dealt with as it happens, and it was. Good on McQuaid , would have liked to see Boyle laid out though ...

Posted by Domi2828 on January 24, 2013 at 03:49 AM

Decent fight. Better than most

i expected alot more, especially from McQuaid. Boyle is a so-so fighter and this should've been easy business, but Boyle held him off and made it a fight to forget. the funny part was seeing McQuaid get wound up in the first place ... what BIG girl!

Posted by Mike Kole on January 23, 2013 at 08:39 PM

Boyle might find it works better if you drop *both* gloves.

Posted by gump on January 24, 2013 at 06:39 PM

Boyle was lucky that McQuaid never got going on him.

Posted by bruins34 on January 25, 2013 at 01:58 PM

Boyle's just not a fighter in any sense of the word, and I think McQuaid could have picked a better opponent for his first go-round of the year. Don't get me wrong, I don't think he cherry-picks, but this one was a waste of time.

Posted by Killer Bezz on January 24, 2013 at 04:50 PM

Dark side Quaid all the way.

Posted by nait on January 24, 2013 at 07:28 AM

McQuaid was in the wrong but Boyle is 0-2 against the Bruins

Posted by probie4life on January 24, 2013 at 03:17 AM

who has boyle with 4%?! how do you get votes for a win when you don't land a punch?! mcquaid with easy W! best thing boyle did was not fight back because mcquaid would've taken him apart.

Posted by QUIGGS22 on January 24, 2013 at 08:26 AM

Win to McQuaid....I said it before & I'll say it again Boyle is pound for pound the worst fighter in the NHL.

Posted by HerbRaglan on January 23, 2013 at 08:38 PM

boyle does not fight well he just doesn't have it within him at this point...he fights very scared

Posted by staceyb on January 24, 2013 at 05:26 AM

Boyle seems to have picked up a fight tip or two during the offseason but he still couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag. W-McQ but not convincingly.

Posted by rocky 1 on January 24, 2013 at 11:31 PM

I do not know why Boyle fights when he is a six foot seven whoos!Win McQuaid!

Posted by Joceron on January 24, 2013 at 12:07 PM

Poor Boyle. So big, such a cream puff. You'd think a year as Prust Roomate would get him some type of minimal fight game, but its not too be.

Posted by bruins rule on January 24, 2013 at 08:25 AM

mcquaid gets the win in this fight.

Posted by Hatebgred on January 24, 2013 at 07:18 AM

Easy w for quaid, not too much here but nothing at all from boyle

Posted by cible on January 24, 2013 at 03:29 AM

Boyle rarely wins his fights even with his size...win mcquaid!

Posted by bschwinn on January 23, 2013 at 09:30 PM

McQuaid gets a jump on Boyle and throws a lop sided beating. It could have been worse for Boyle who just hung on and threw very little.

Posted by Bruinsdude22 on January 24, 2013 at 06:16 AM

Boyle's left hand glove never game off ! No wonder he lost !

Posted by Jellyczar on January 23, 2013 at 09:49 PM

McQuaid beats a poor fighter in Boyle ...

Posted by bhamill on January 24, 2013 at 12:01 PM

McQuaid with a win over a non-fighter in Boyle. Coming from a college background it seems Boyle just never "got" fighting, at least he's protecting himself better. Haha. Dumb selfish move by McQuaid. Picking up an extra two because you are upset you got hit with a shot at the whistle is not acceptable. Standing up for a team mate WOULD make the extra penalty okay. Anyhow, McQuaid didn't disgrace himself by losing to Boyle and Boyle continues to show he won't run even though he has no idea whatsoever of how to fight. I like McQuade but he has to be smarter.

Posted by Canner on January 24, 2013 at 06:35 PM

Where was Hal Gill to make this an all-colleagiate, slow mo, air shots specials ??? Ha Ha. Someone said Wolfey got beatdown in practise by Robbins !? That was nothing, although he looked silly when he slipped.

Posted by braindog1017 on January 25, 2013 at 09:19 AM

How is Boyle that big yet that afraid to throw a punch? Seems strange to me.

Posted by homeland on January 24, 2013 at 10:07 AM

Darth Quader with the easy W. He still doesnt look like he has recovered from the concussion and blood clots. He got beat down pretty badly by a Providence Bruin in their exhibition game last week.

Posted by bboyer on January 26, 2013 at 05:45 PM

Brian please keep your gloves on, you're gonna get yourself wicked hurt.

Posted by samtheman77 on January 23, 2013 at 09:42 PM

Quiet win for McQuaid

Posted by truebeliever33 on January 24, 2013 at 10:30 AM

Don't shoot the puck into someone else's legs after the whistle. The Massachusetts rich kid gets his butt kicked by the Boston Bruin from PEI.

Posted by BruinsBeatdown on January 23, 2013 at 08:34 PM

Darth Quaider starts the year off with the easy W.

Posted by dontpokeTheBear on January 25, 2013 at 11:41 PM

McQ will dust this clown every time.

Posted by bammer24 on January 24, 2013 at 01:34 AM

McQuaid with"not on my watch".Boyle responds with "oh shit " .Win McQuaid. I don`t think Boyle shot that puck on purpose though.

Posted by kowz_76 on January 23, 2013 at 11:11 PM

McQuaid looks like he gives a little mercy to the non fighter. Boyle can't even get him off his skates in desperation. Easy win for McQuaid.

Posted by Great Murray on January 28, 2013 at 09:38 AM

Boyle is just too slow...can't fight...takes way too long to deliver a punch. Mcquaid wins...tough kid. Nice to hear another good fight call in a Boston Game. Obviously that means not having to listen to Edwards slobbering on himself and his leg is tingling.

Posted by D1J2D3 on January 23, 2013 at 08:38 PM

Easy win, McQuaid

Posted by BewareTheBear on January 26, 2013 at 12:58 AM

McQuaid is an honest player. Nothing dirty about his game. He will go to war over principle, and he packs monstrous artillery. Probably among the fastest strikers in the league. Props to Boyle for dropping the gloves so quickly without warning or hesitation.

Posted by BsFan23 on January 29, 2013 at 12:03 PM

win McQuaid. Boyle is a waste of size

Posted by Crozie1986 on January 30, 2013 at 01:16 AM

mcquaid owned this fight

Posted by DARCY T on January 24, 2013 at 05:50 PM

win mcquaid but i expected he will beat him even more

Posted by omorales on January 24, 2013 at 04:12 AM

Good spirited scrap, I liked McQuaid for standing up for himself.

Posted by moneybags on January 24, 2013 at 01:13 AM

Boyle was looking to get out...lone wolf all the way

Posted by travist on January 24, 2013 at 02:26 AM

boyle was sorry, mcquaid punched him. and sedinfan fan points it out, mcquaid is fun to watch, a good hard nosed kid who can fight.

Posted by The DZA on January 24, 2013 at 10:05 AM

Woman in the front row is trippin. A hockey game seems like an odd place to dose mushrooms.

Posted by SouthPaw017 on January 23, 2013 at 11:54 PM

At his size, Boyle clearly needs to spend some more time watching "Youngblood." And it's clear that CustomBrokeBack is now inviting Hugh-HuggyBear-Cares up to his tent for some quality time, Canadien style. I wonder which Canadien city will riot, pout, and act like children this year..... Burn baby burn!!!!!

Posted by Blockhead36 on April 03, 2013 at 03:26 PM

Brian Boyle is worse at fighting than he is at hockey, and he is really bad at hockey....

Posted by chad420 on January 24, 2013 at 08:54 AM

win Lonewolf

Posted by goody72 on January 24, 2013 at 02:11 PM

McQuaid with the edge.

Posted by Bubba2K13 on January 24, 2013 at 03:32 AM

I agree that McQuaid is underrated as a fighter, but can handle himself very well in the midst of Lucic and Thornton...easy win here for McQuaid

Posted by madmark on January 23, 2013 at 10:59 PM

McQuaid was not happy with Boyle shooting the puck at his leg after the whistle and showed his displeasure in the fight . Really like what McQuaid brings keep it up ..

Posted by Tougie on January 24, 2013 at 06:51 PM

I think it's safe to say there will be a rematch in the final matchup between the two teams. Unfortunately for Boyle, he didn't shoot the puck into the legs of say Tomas Kaberle. Don't poke the bear Brian.

Posted by B-Bear on June 02, 2013 at 11:35 PM

McQuaid nails him

Posted by Boston Garden on January 23, 2013 at 08:29 PM

Boyle is a pretty crappy fighter. Easy win McQuaid.

Posted by The Lumpatron on January 23, 2013 at 11:44 PM

Decent scrap.

Posted by FN_Five_seveN on January 29, 2013 at 03:47 PM

boyle was covering up like a bitch and barley threw any punches mcquaid could have really hurt him boyle is lucky mcquaid took it easy on him towards the end of the fight mcquaid could have hit him many times boyle was wide open mcquaid had mercy on boyle

Posted by nycbob on January 23, 2013 at 08:35 PM

Mcquaid obviously sees its Boyle. Why Boyle doesn't spend a summer learning to fight is beyond me. 6'5' 250 playing with some snarl could be a huge asset to nyr, and guarantee boyle a long career.

Posted by flamesgoon on March 07, 2013 at 08:18 PM

.plz go watch( Embellishment City )on youtube for see real bruins

Posted by Capt Quelch on January 24, 2013 at 06:13 PM

Pretty close fight, just traded blows back and forth.

Posted by kkdowning on January 24, 2013 at 08:32 AM

I am surprised that McQuaid did not win more convincingly

Posted by Madhouse27 on January 23, 2013 at 09:26 PM

Lone Wolf McQuaid is obviously still recovering from his blood clot removal surgery. Boyle hangs in there pretty well and avoids what could have been a severe beating. Win for Adam in a fairly lackluster 4.

Posted by sedinfan on January 23, 2013 at 11:59 PM

McQuaid is so under rated. When you are on a team with Thornton, Lucic and Chara, Mcquaid kind of sneaks under the radar.

Posted by bigbadboy98 on January 24, 2013 at 05:51 AM

how can u say .......easy win !!! just bruins fans .... ADAM MCQUAID is the kind of player always choose the one who he fight , if he cant choose , he will not go open fight

Posted by BigNYCBruinsFan on January 24, 2013 at 03:49 AM

Maybe Boyle will think twice in the Future about shooting the puck after the whistle. He deserved more than he got. Adam took it easy on him and should of just laid him out. Go Bruins.

Posted by mudman55 on January 23, 2013 at 09:03 PM

Darth's a tough kid....Boyle hasn't really fought much, and it was pretty obvious....

Posted by Custombreaks on January 23, 2013 at 09:14 PM

Gregory Campbells Daddys Refs don't know what a instigator penalty is. Typical chickensh*t move by McQuaid...he must be learning from Lucy.
