Once again, the most intelligent people on the this site mention my posting. You both showed your stupidity levels are rising. Scott challenged Chara at the end of the game!! He wasn't even on the ice if u were watching! That is why his coach stopped him! There would have been suspensions for both of them. If he was half as tough as he is tall, he would have forced Chara or Thornton into a fight by throwing some hard checks on Seguin or another skilled forward. He didn't want to fight too bad at all because he's no Big Mac or McGratton! He's nothing until he fights some heavies like LUCIC...Ivanins, Erskine, Orr, Carkner, Rosehill, Sestito, etc...let's see how Super Tough Scott would fair against Carkner or someone. I bet not as well as some people think. He hasn't proven anything yet except that he's a waste of ice space!

Screw the Bruins haters. With MacDermid Boston has the toughest team hands down. Let the Bruins haters hate. Cup Champs.

Posted by mtchbx on March 04, 2012 at 04:22 PM

First game and you take on Rupp. Maybe not your smartest move. Both guys landed some good ones. Pretty close. Taking everything into consideration I give it a draw.

Posted by probie4life on March 05, 2012 at 01:56 AM

Great to see Macdermid get his 1st game in nhl! Contributing right away. Hope he sticks around. As for Chara not fighting Scott. Can't lose Captain for 5 mins or an injury to a guy who gets 4 shifts a game.

Posted by DARCY T on March 04, 2012 at 05:31 PM

good fight and good showing by macdermid even though rupp probably landed 1-2 punches more...draw and 6

Posted by vangodard28 on March 05, 2012 at 05:05 PM

BigBadBruin22: This isn't about people being anit-Stanley Cup Champions. The fight was close so some people just thought Rupp had the better shots, just as you (an obvious Bruins fan) thought MacDermid got the better shot.

Posted by FightsOfHockey on March 04, 2012 at 04:54 PM

good tilt draw

Posted by workthejab on March 15, 2012 at 12:06 PM

Mac does a good job at working the jab, but forgets to look out for the big right in the process. Those jabs add up, but only when mixed in with some bigger shots. Good tilt. Surprised that they threw down instead of Scott and Thornton...this must have been the game Thornton had fresh stitches I am guessing?

Posted by DarthQuider on March 04, 2012 at 08:04 PM

good scrap for the call up against a proven much bigger Vet. Slight edge to Rupper

Posted by Jellyczar on March 04, 2012 at 03:34 PM

nice scrap.... draw.

Posted by homeland on March 05, 2012 at 09:16 AM

not a bad showing by the rook against a larger guy.

Posted by beretta804 on March 05, 2012 at 12:44 AM

Tough one to score. Rupp had more punches thrown/landed, but Mac had the 2 hardest punches thrown. Seeing that it's Mac's first NHL fight and I'm a Bruin fan, I give him the slight edge.

Posted by AC1026 on March 04, 2012 at 06:31 PM

Had side bet on the 1st fight of the game. Was rooting for Rupp...too bad it was a push. Draw

Good tilt….DRAW

Macdermid got the best blow, rupp missed everything, draw

Posted by dontpokeTheBear on March 04, 2012 at 05:49 PM

Rookie gets the draw, Rupp got mostly helmet.

Posted by Unbiased10 on March 04, 2012 at 02:37 PM

LOL whoever voted for the bruin, you must be Jack Edwards or a Retard...Scratch that those two are the same.

Posted by Walt on March 04, 2012 at 04:01 PM

When I saw that MacDermid ONLY received a 40% win ratio from insufferable Bruins homers on this site I knew he lost badly. Winn Rupp.

Posted by Behn Wilson on March 05, 2012 at 06:07 PM

Paul MacDermid was a tough, but average, second tier fighter... and ''chip off the old block'' looked like a very similar model... doing his best to hang in there with Mike ''I thought I was going to get to concentrate on playing hockey now'' Rupp.

Posted by mudman55 on March 05, 2012 at 08:02 AM

Welcome to the bigs, son of Paul. Reasonable showing by the kid, but Rupp got him.

Posted by ironbar44 on March 04, 2012 at 02:21 PM

RUPP slight edge

Posted by capsfloors on March 04, 2012 at 05:13 PM

Nice 1st fight for MacDermid. Thought this was very close could see a lot saying draw here. I say so as well. Oh yeah..... tpr1960 sucks!

Posted by Jflah53 on March 05, 2012 at 12:31 PM

Good showing by both men.... MacDermid didn't do as good as I think these Bruin fans think he did. Even though, a good bout...... A DRAW for now. Too bad Scott did not get a chance to pound BIG BAD WUSS CHARA !!!! BUT ------- ITS COMING !!!!!!!!!!!! WE KNOW IT IS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TILL NEXT TIME -------------------------------------------

Posted by GSP09 on March 05, 2012 at 12:54 PM

Come on Boston homers who voted for their player or voted draw cause they just can't admit their player got clocked, Why is it smart for Chara to refuse Scott's invitation and Lucie the coward to refuse all the heavyweights . Ha Ha. Scott has to get both Lucie and Chara in a corner where they can't hide next game , I cant wait.

Posted by PUMMELED on March 04, 2012 at 04:23 PM

Win, Rupp--who wanted nothing to do with Scott 2 weeks ago when Scott boarded a Ranger, and Rupp "acted" like he was trying to rough-up Scott, but he wasn't fooling anybody. Thornton had a chance as well, and declined to take-on Scott at this same face off.

Posted by Custombreaks on March 04, 2012 at 04:33 PM

Was that a puddle of pee underneath Thornton when Scott chatted to him?

Posted by Bakes923 on March 04, 2012 at 02:40 PM

Rupp wins a close one here, gotta give MacDermid credit to go with Rupp, but comes up on the short end here!!

Posted by spencerayres6 on March 04, 2012 at 04:34 PM

Clear edge to Rupp, but with that said first NHL shift going against a tought fighter like Rupp, props to Macdermid he did solid

Posted by rocknroll24 on March 04, 2012 at 10:56 PM

Rupp with slight edge on this one.

Posted by TK40 on March 07, 2012 at 06:58 PM

Slight edge to Rupp. Nice quick fight.

Posted by RykerHC on March 04, 2012 at 10:59 PM

Good fight, and the slightest of edges to Rupp, even though none of the punches did real damage.

Posted by original61957 on March 06, 2012 at 03:33 PM

@jeagle12212012 MacDermid dominates? What kind of a MacIdiot are you? Slight edge Rupp. No rosy colored Bruin glasses here. P.S.to all you Bruin idiots, why would Chara fight Scott ? Why would Lucic allow Rupp to take him off for five minutes? Maybe playing in Boston he inherited the I.Q. that most Bruin fans have, and is just plain stupid. I think your team is great and I like them, but Bruin fans are challenging Canuck fans as the biggest idiots in the league, Wont mention any names BigDumbBruin22. And should the greatest defenseman in NHL history (Chara) let a goon take him out ? Chara would only miss a shift or so, he does not play the whole five minutes. He just needs to get the courage to fight Scott,or to wrestle him to the ground, which is what he'll probably do. Can't spin it to whatever suits you douchebags, Scott hasn't fought anyone ,but Chara won't fight him and allow a goon to take him off. Talk about Chara's fight card, look at who he's fought over the last five years and show me all the high powered goal scorers he's allowed to take him to the box . Try to convince someone with an IQ as low as yours, maybe they'll believe the BS coming out of both sides of your mouth. P.S. I have no reason to be a B's hater, (some) B's fans on here are just pathetic morons.

Posted by orangecuse on March 05, 2012 at 03:01 PM

Both guys threw some bombs but Rupp connected with a few more. It looks like the Rangers may be the tougher team now.

Posted by KnockoutDan on March 04, 2012 at 02:04 PM

Good show and willingness from MacDemid, but the win to the more experience Rupp!

Posted by kocur2694 on March 04, 2012 at 07:19 PM

Rupp with the slight win. Very disappointed in the Bruins. Thought they were a tough team but, everyone of their so called tough guys ran away from John Scott today like he had the plague.

Posted by montrealSUCKS on March 04, 2012 at 06:24 PM

The kid hung in there and did pretty well, but Rupp with the narrow win.

Posted by The Mad House on March 04, 2012 at 03:26 PM

Pretty good bout here especially for MacDermid in his first NHL game taking on an always tough Rupp. I'm gonna give the edge to Rupp here in an exciting all around game, I never see this Eastern Conference battles because I live in Chicago so this game was a treat. I was hoping Big John Stud and Chara would've dropped the gloves because they're both mammoths. At the end of the game they said Scott challenged Chara but Tortorella had to pull him away which is pretty upsetting. They play once more this year so I hope they will finally do battle.

Posted by samlockwood87 on March 05, 2012 at 04:06 AM

Slight advantage Rupp

Posted by MRoberge on March 12, 2012 at 02:31 PM

Talk about Chara, he is the most over evaluated hockey player. Just big and heavy but don't know how to turn on both sides when he skates.

Posted by rangerfan410 on March 05, 2012 at 04:23 PM

I guess BigBad22 isn't content to just make excuses for Thornton wanting no part of Scott because of his "stitches", he missed McGuire saying on national tv that Scott called out Chara at game's end. I agree with Chara being stupid to go off with Scott during the game, but what about when it was over. We'll need BigBad to give us Chara's stitch status.

Posted by riffraff on March 04, 2012 at 07:18 PM

edge rupp as expected thornton/chara finding excuses to dodge the sasquatch Scott.... and lucic fighting a much smaller opponent and not Scott buncha wannabes

Posted by huddles on March 04, 2012 at 06:56 PM

win rupp fan of neither team

Posted by lb1631 on March 05, 2012 at 10:27 AM

you idiot bruin fans no way Macdermid won that fight. He lands one punch and gets hit a few more times by Rupp. Typical little bitch jabs. Nice uppercut by Rupp. All you idiots can blow Jack " ME OFF" Adams. Homers.

Posted by boldbilly on March 05, 2012 at 07:54 AM

HOW IN HELL DO THE BRUIN SUPPORTERS CONSTANTLY BLINDLY GIVE THEIR PLAYERS THE VOTE HERE? Seriously without shame.....they are a joke...... Rupp with the win here littleMac did okay but he lost......Campbelll the coward lost ......AND YOU LOST THE GAME........ONLY LUCIC THE SPOT PICKER WON........ NO REPEAT THIS YEAR BOSTON WILL BE STUCK AT A PALTRY SIX CUPS FOR A LONG TIME. L.O.L. HAL29 can write a book about it

Posted by Kranium on March 04, 2012 at 04:21 PM

Rupp landed better punches. MacDermid with the annoying jersey jabs but he's gamer as we know, nice job stepping up. Rangers are freakin huge with Boyle, Rupp, Bickel and now Scott. Bruins tough as well, but they won't intimidate the Rangers.

Posted by ferdip on March 04, 2012 at 02:32 PM

At least Rupp hit the guy

Posted by letsdance24 on March 04, 2012 at 02:56 PM

Notice how Thorton wanted nothing to do with Scott..

Posted by kinga101 on March 04, 2012 at 05:13 PM

Impressive debut for MacDermid against a very tough opponent, but Rupp gets the win with more quality shots thrown and landed. I was surprised MacDermid got called up for this one. I guess they figured a lttle help was needed to handle Scott, however, none of the so called "Big Bad Bruins" wanted anything to do with him. Thornton declined the invite to dance and Chara refused on several occassions during the game and again at the end. Prust had the balls to go with Lucic but none of the B's had the B's to go with Scott. Where was tough guy McQuaid in this game? Hardly heard his name mentioned.

Posted by GreatMurray on March 04, 2012 at 07:06 PM

You can see the result of the Boston homers here. Mac was awesome but if you just count the actual landed punches..he lost. Interesting that both Thornton and Chara turned Scott down. I can't say that I blame them. But if Prust had turned down Lucic he would have branded a true coward by the Boston faithful. I wonder if they see Thornton and Chara the same way.

Posted by risingdemon on March 05, 2012 at 02:33 PM

Good scrap, close win to rupp

Posted by TheSpokedB on March 04, 2012 at 09:46 PM

Pretty good scrap, but I'd give the win at Rupp... close one though.

Posted by Killer Bezz on March 06, 2012 at 06:45 PM

Mac held his own very well. I give the nod to him.

Posted by slainte12 on March 05, 2012 at 11:49 AM

MacDermid with the win. He connected with Rupp's face far more often that Rupp connected with anything other than helmet. Those lefty jabs by MacDermid give him the win and were clearly bothering Rupp and taking him off his game.

Posted by mmadced on March 04, 2012 at 04:19 PM

close fight-draw please stop this insane talk about scott being the top enforcer. who has he beaten, please. mcgrattan, macinterye et al would smoke him. hell, looch or chara would.... i did'nt see that overated douche go after any bruins.......

Posted by nait on March 05, 2012 at 08:54 AM

both put up a good fight but MacDermid landed the better hits. Very close.

Posted by Ace49 on March 08, 2012 at 01:48 PM

Draw, Nice to see the kid take on Rupp.

Posted by dustinxdangles on March 04, 2012 at 04:47 PM

good first fight!

Posted by EDDUBBS on March 08, 2012 at 12:51 AM

MacDermid with a spirited and slight edge over Rupp. Rupp is a gamer but he is not anywhere near our definition of a great heavyweight -objectively, he really loses more than he wins. He probably has more draws and losses than wins for sure, but he is a gamer!

Posted by moneybags on March 04, 2012 at 02:28 PM

The kid got Rupp with a couple good ones

Posted by bruins rule on March 04, 2012 at 02:21 PM

nice first fight for Macdermid.

Posted by paulinho1980 on March 04, 2012 at 02:29 PM

First fight at NHL for MacDermid got give to him for stepping up against big Rupp, win MacDermid.

Posted by moramike on March 04, 2012 at 06:09 PM

I've got to cal;l thuds one a draw. The first time I watched it I thought Rupp won, but after a few looks he didn't land as many as I thought and he's going to have some sore knuckles because he caught plenty of helmet. Good spirited fight. Both guys landed a few and took them as well.

Posted by BBB248 on March 04, 2012 at 02:50 PM

It was a Draw but all these people are giving it to Rupp for some reason so i'm giving it to MacDermid

Posted by bruins2012 on March 04, 2012 at 02:52 PM

It takes a lot of guts for Macdermid to do this on his first shift in the NHL against a known fighter like Rupp, and Im gonna give him a win

Posted by mcweeny3 on March 04, 2012 at 02:25 PM

rookie steps on on his first shift and takes on a heavyweight. edge.

Posted by classic4 on March 04, 2012 at 09:44 PM

I would like to give edge to the new kid just cause he is the new kid. Takes on Rupp and the take down but he came on too late. Draw.

Posted by pmarz1 on March 04, 2012 at 02:54 PM

3" taller and 40lbs heavier yet Rupp cant do anything with this kid? After he took that right cross he decided it was time to bring the fight down on the ice.

Posted by stevemcgraw1 on March 04, 2012 at 06:28 PM

I gave this to Macdermid. For being the smaller guy he landed well and more than held his own... FOR ALL THE IDIOTS OUT THERE SAYING CHARRA BACKED DOWN FROM SCOTT, USE YOUR HEADS. WHY WOULD A PERRENIAL ALL STAR WASTE HIS TIME AND GET TAKEN OFF THE ICE FOR 5 MINUTES TO FIGHT A BUM LIKE SCOTT?

Posted by smittyballz on March 04, 2012 at 02:23 PM

MacDermid 1st shift in the NHL with a good fight and the slight edge! Lands bigger punches!

Posted by Esjay1980 on March 04, 2012 at 03:32 PM

Close bout for sure...draw.

Win MacDermid!!

Posted by bammer24 on March 06, 2012 at 02:23 AM

Very good fight Very close fight but that one Right by MacDermid really rocked Rupp .(Who I like alot)and by the way you idiots who think Thornton would be scared or worried about Scott think about his fight with Bigger" BoggeyMan" last year. Not B`s Fan pure Fight fan..Chara would not waste his time with Scott.By the way win MacDermid.Scott I feel bad for because he hasn`t fought alot and now he is stuck in of all places New York where he feels he loses or anything bad happens to him it`s over.Derek always said the pressure was much higher in New York.Even more so after his 2 last fights hard to deal with in your own head.Good luck JOHN SCOTT YOUR IN A TOUGH SPOT!Just wait till some like MacIntyre comes up. Hey BOLDBILLY RANGER HOMER I THINK THE ONLY THING LUCIC IS PICKING TODAY IS PRUST TEETH OUT OF HIS HAND! GOD DO I HATE HOMERS.WOW RUPP HAD 3" AND 40LBS. ON THE KID TALK ABOUT PICKING YOUR FIGHTS.IT WAS HIS FIRST SHIFT EVER.THATS RIGHT THE RANGERS LEAD THE LEAGUE IN MAJORS. BUT YET THESE GUYS ACT LIKE THE BRUINS ARE SPOT PICKERS.LOOK IN THE MIRROR BOYS.YOU ATTACK EVERY TEAM.YOU HATE THE BRUINS AND ANY OTHER TEAM THAT FIGHTS BACK AND WINS.WELL TO BAD.YOU BOUGHT YOUR LAST CUP.WE EARNED OURS.HAVE TO SAY THAT ABOUT THE ISLANDERS THEY WORKED FROM THE BOTTOM UP.YOU GUYS ALWAYS NO MATTER WHAT EVEN WHEN YOU WON YOU HAD TO BUY IT .

Posted by banfillb on March 04, 2012 at 02:40 PM

good fight. edge to macdermid to taking the fight and landing a good one, plus the takedown.

Posted by EdNo on March 07, 2012 at 03:38 PM

Very surprised at the outcome of this fight... I thought Rupp narrowly beat a superb fighter when he took on Thorton, and he takes on a smaller guy who comes out of the "A" with no particular distinction as a brawler and gets beat!!! Good job by MacDermid

Posted by Canvasback on March 06, 2012 at 10:06 AM

First shift of his first NHL game and he takes on a perennial tough guy who's got at least 3 inches, 40 pounds and a decade of experience on his side. Jersey jabs and a take down, clear win MacDaddy.

Posted by jeagle12212012 on March 04, 2012 at 01:40 PM

love it MacDermid first game first shift and he dominates in his first fight

Posted by dontp0kethebear on March 04, 2012 at 03:10 PM

i like this lane macdermid kid. showed some guts. first nhl shift, takes on a bigger, more experienced fighter. does pretty well. i think macdermid takes the narrowest of victories right here. rupp could have done some real damage when macdermid got hunched over, but didnt. good scrap

Posted by slarrivee11 on March 04, 2012 at 06:03 PM

Rupp.. Hows it feel to get your butt kicked by a rookie. Who ever voted for Rupp needs to watch it again!!

Posted by RyGuy1091 on March 04, 2012 at 06:16 PM

MacDermid definately put up the better fight

Posted by Orielly on April 03, 2012 at 02:14 PM

Edge goes to MacDermid. He landed the only effective punch, which Rupp took without flinching. Yet the only punch that landed give Mac the edge slightly.

Rupp just barely handles the first gamer and gets a slight edge. MacD tagged him with a right halfway thru that rocked rupper a little. Good showing from the rookie and a worthy addition to the merlot line.

Slight edge to Rupp in a very good fight. Teams should take a look at MacDermid. If he doesnt stick with Boston, pick him up!!

Posted by ProtectYourNeck on March 05, 2012 at 08:33 AM

Well BigBadBruin22, Scott did challenge Chara multiple times. But, Chara being the big fruitbat he is, he kept skating away from him.

Posted by Madhouse27 on March 05, 2012 at 12:11 AM

MacDermid certainly gets a tough assignment for his first NHL shift and does pretty well for himself.

Posted by travist on March 05, 2012 at 07:43 PM

great fight, seeing it live i thought rupp, seeing it here it was much closer. good one from the rookie against the dangerous rupp... see all the scott v chara babblings going on here. why one earth would chara fight scott unless it was a lopsided game and scott did something to a teammate? scott is an idiot and a modern day goon. he is not a well rounded hockey player just a fighter...and his constant harassing of chara (even after 60 minutes!! whatta doofus) proves it.

Posted by Bobonics on March 04, 2012 at 06:23 PM

The kids first Nhl fight give him credit for banging with a tough hombre.

Posted by maineman on March 04, 2012 at 10:48 PM

I'll give this one to Rupp as he had McDermid off balance the whole time and landed the best shots. Gotta like McDermid stepping on the ice for the first time and going with a tough guy like Rupp, but I can't say he came out on top.

Posted by staceyb on March 04, 2012 at 04:23 PM

That was a good fight, a draw. Mr. MacDermid, welcome to the NHL.
