That was a clean hit, no headshot and definately not boarding, he was above the goal line for god's sake!! The boards did the damage

Posted by sedinfan on March 26, 2011 at 12:55 AM

Clean hit, not sure how Bradley got cut open, the only punch Smith landed was on the other side of Bradley's face. He might have hit the side of his face on the ice when he went down. Bradley was no where near anyones head despite the one idiot announcers comments.

BS penalty call to lead to this....

Posted by hughtrain on March 25, 2011 at 10:32 PM

As for the hit, ridiculous that a penalty was called. Boarding? Really? Boarding should be reserved for those hits that occur three feet from the boards and put the player in excessive harm's way. This was not one of those. The hit occurred above the goal line, hell even in the circle. Protect yourself there kid! No reason for the boarding. The instigator is what it is, and yea, you still have to step up and protect your teammates so good for Smith, and Bradley instead of arguing with the ref, protect yourself! You got rocked!

Bradley gets cut in a scrap with Smith after what looks like a clean hit. it's shoulder to shoulder and there's nothing dirty about it. The last few seconds of the tape show the Ottawa trainer working on the guys shoulder and that's the reason he stayed down. No head shot here except for the one Bradley obviously took.

Bulls##T call-if that's boarding, then hockey is doomed-Good for Smith to stand up for his teammate-over reaction on part of refs-god forbid a good hit becomes a penalty now-will ruin a lot of games for sure

Clean hit. It's already getting old when after every hit the announcers feel the need to over examine it even when you can see it was pretty clean. Crap fight win smith.

Great hit by ''bleeder Bradley'', but Smith gains a surprising edge in the fight itself.

Posted by DARCY T on March 27, 2011 at 06:02 AM

good hit...edge smith in a short fight.i think bradley got cut by one of them last smith´s right as bradley was going to the ice ..gave it 4..... how come this fight is rated higher than king vs lessard???

Posted by scorp1on on March 26, 2011 at 05:20 AM

Started off totally clean, but when Bradley lifted his arm, his upper arm hit chin - which was bound to happen given that he was at an angle from the dudes chest. Hit was not penalty worthy IMO but enough to warrant retribution which WAS dished out effectively by Smith. The hit dude was more banged up from the boards than from Bradley.

smith gets the win in this fight.

Posted by pmarz1 on March 26, 2011 at 08:05 AM

@scorp1on , no contact with the head whatsoever. The last portion of the clip does show a follow through with the elbow but the guy was clear of it, all the other angles show this. The league has to set something up next year so they can review these types of plays.

Nice hit, Senator guy unfortunately hit the boards very awkwardly though. Rarely do you see a guy jump in to exact vengeance from a nice hit and actually win the fight, but Smith does here. I was hoping Bradley would keep up his win streak, but not to be. Smith, 5.

Great Hit!! the NHL is turning into a pussy league.

Posted by staceyb on March 26, 2011 at 08:14 AM

Smitty with the win in retribution for the Bradley hit on Wiercioch. It was a legal hit but these days everyone is chippy when a teammate gets laid out.

Posted by Mcgyvr on March 25, 2011 at 10:17 PM

As a Sens fan and a referee, clean hit. Also, good for Smith for protecting his player. Win Smith.

Posted by fernben8 on March 25, 2011 at 11:17 PM

Another debate about the hit, I really don't see a "boarding" penalty here. It was a clean hit by Bradley, just an awkward fall into the boards. Bradley over throws a right and ends up in an awkward position himself. Edge to Smith. Can't see how and when Bradley got cut...?

Posted by bloodfire781 on March 26, 2011 at 08:58 AM

these broadcasters need to get some glasses and shut the hell up..that was a great leagal hit buddy needs to keep his head up that's hockey folks and i love it!!

Disgusted Bradley got a penalty for a great check. Disgusted in how great checks must end in some guy fighting the guy who threw the check. Bradley hardly got beat down by anything thrown at him, just wrestled down and cracks face on ice. Great reward for a great check: head split on ice and penalty for being too much of a real hockey player. Not disgusted in any of the players involved. Smith did what he had to in a league that has it wrong when a guy gets cleanly checked.

And once again, the NHL officials screwd the pooch on this call. Once you raise your hand to call a penalty and then change your mind, you've admitted you didn't know what you were doing in the first place. Something has to be don't about officials in the NHL.

BIG ZACK SMITH wins this scrap. awesome hit on hendricks i was hoping he would end up in the hospital.

I'm with the great majority here. Clean hit by Bradley, but the Sen player landed very awkwardly. As for the fight, a slight edge to Smith; how was all that damage exacted?

Posted by GreatMurray on March 26, 2011 at 07:37 AM

Hit looked OK to me. Sometimes you have to skate better and pay attention. Bradley gets hammered by Smith in retaliation.

Posted by nutz99 on March 26, 2011 at 02:37 AM

boarding? he was a good 4 feet from the boards & slid into em. looked up then went down like he was hurt....sick how peeps do that now

Posted by ogie ogiltorpe on March 26, 2011 at 02:28 AM

Bradley catches the rookie off balance, Zack (Don't Call Me Huggy Bear) Smith starts Bradley with the jersey jerk which progresses to a full on lawnmower for the win....not sure if Bradley bloodied by fist or by fall to the ice but Zack gets a clear win

Posted by CloweStaubi on March 27, 2011 at 01:24 AM

Omg, stop fighting Bradley!!! You get opened up more than Jody Shelley.

Posted by hockeyherman on March 28, 2011 at 03:39 AM

How the heck does Bradley get a boarding penalty here?

Posted by kkdowning on March 25, 2011 at 11:39 PM

Bradley's 3 fight streak of not bleeding ends as he makes his typical donation to the blood bank and goestotheroom for some cookies, juice and stitiches. BTW, clean hit by Bradley, bad call on the boarding penalty

Posted by piney on March 28, 2011 at 04:38 PM

crap draw

Posted by brokenhead on March 26, 2011 at 01:06 AM

Was that Bradley leaking all over the place or Mitch Fritz?? LOL! Smith with the W

Posted by thebigbea55 on March 28, 2011 at 08:36 PM

great hit by bradley but a dangerous one.. too many of these in the nhl right now.. instead of trying to steal the puck, u have guys making big runs around the ice lookin for those big hits..

Posted by chad420 on March 27, 2011 at 06:37 PM

Zack Morris ends MBs streak convincingly.....Got Blood?

Posted by travist on March 25, 2011 at 10:59 PM

don't think it was a bad hit. how did bradley get cut? jesus what is hockey coming to?

Posted by antman75 on March 25, 2011 at 11:26 PM

Clean hit, no boarding, he just went down awkwardly . Get it right guys.

Posted by kona309 on March 25, 2011 at 10:38 PM

Clean hit? Yes but i can easily see that some penalty is called on it. on the fight, good on smith for standing up for his teammate. 2 minutes to bradley for boarding. Smith shouldnt get the instigator though.

Posted by Rags4Life on March 26, 2011 at 11:19 PM

And once again... Matt Bradley is cut open during a fight.

Posted by Mighty Atom on March 25, 2011 at 11:10 PM

Matt ''Busted wide open'' Bradley does it again !
