Brennan tries for a right and Shelley comes with an overhand right that puts him off-balance. Brennan starts throwing a slew of good uppercuts as Shelley's head is down from the off-balance punch. Shelley comes back with a right and Brennan counters with one of his own. Shelley throws about three roundhouse rights, with one landing decently. Brennan then throws a right and they both go down with Brennan on top.

Rupp hit Parros by the benches and Parros offers the challenge. Rupp accepts and they drop the gloves and skate to center ice. Rupp throws a left that doesn't land and Parros throws two rights, one that lands pretty solid. They wrestle a bit and before getting free Parros lands a straight right and a couple more that looked to graze. Rupp is throwing wild punches that aren't landing as he's caught up in his jersey. Rupp slips down and Parros lets up.

Kostopoulos lands two early, then Beauchemin catches Kostopoulos with a straight left that might have stunned him, then lands three or four good short rights on Tom K, a nice left and another left that knocked Kostopoulos down, pulling Beauchemin on top of him.

Right off of the faceoff after a Blue Jackets goal, these two drop the gloves and swing away. Both guys are throwing bombs while going toe-to-toe. Shelley has Hordichuk bent over a bit and there's a long pause while each tries to get the other's lid off. Both come back with big rights, and Shelley's did more damage. Hordi is cut under his left eye and Shelley has a bloody nose.

After they were talking a shift earlier, they drop the gloves at center. McCarty uses both arms to grab Shelley first, but Shelley pops him a good one. McCarty gets himself sorted out and they both start throwing rights, toe-to-toe for a bit. McCarty is throwing more than Shelley, but isn't really landing. Shelley then gets McCarty turned around, throws one to the back of the head and gets the takedown.

Goertzen lays a big hit on Dion Phaneuf in the corner. Ritchie skates over to Goertzen and they drop the gloves. Ritchie starts out with a few rights and Goertzen tosses Ritche to the ice, also losing his own balance in the process. They get up, but Ritchie's quicker and feeds Goertzen some rights while he's getting up. Goertzen loses his balance again, goes to a knee and gets back up. They exchange some rights, Ritchie's look to be landing better. Goertzen just can't straighten out and use his size to his advantage. As Goertzen moves forward he goes to the ice again, and this time Ritchie lands on him and the linesmen come in.

Mayers loses his elbow pad as he switches hands and throws four rights. Chimera comes back with a right of his own and Mayers counters. Mayer then lands an overhand right that knocks both players off-balance and to the ice.

They drop the gloves and have a nice, long square off at center ice. Shelley spends the majority of the time trying to grab Downey's sleeve. When he finally does, Shelley lands a big right hand that drops Downey to the ice. The linesman holds Downey until he collects himself and he skates away, blood streaming from his right eye.

Barrett Jackman dropped his gloves and tried to go with a Blue Jacket, but the linesman quickly stepped in. Brewer and Klesla come out of the scrum and drop the gloves. They spin around for a couple of seconds. Klesla misses with a right as Brewer comes back with a short right of his own. Klesla loses his balance and falls to the ice as Brewer lands a late right just as the linesmen come in. Other Penalties: Klesla and Brewer each received a game misconduct; Ryan Johnson a cross checking.

Goertzen returns fire with some rights of his own. Neither seems to be connecting. Jackman throws a right body shot and then some lefts, once again, they don't seem to be landing. They then throw simultaneous rights that connect. Jackman throws a big right uppercut that misses as Goertzen throws a right that can't reach. Jackman throws another right uppercut, shorter this time, which might have connected. They then exchange rights back and forth, a few a piece, with Jackman landing one or two more. They tire and the linesmen come in.

Laperriere throws another overhand right as Johnson comes back with a right of his own. Johnson grabs Laperriere's knee and tries to take him down, but can't get him off-balance. Laperriere throws a couple of more overhand rights before he takes Johnson to the ice, ending the fight. Other Penalties: Johnson received a hooking.

Colley gets back up and tries to wrestle Malhotra to the ice, but can't quite get his feet off the ice. Colley throws a couple of lefts before Malhotra slams him to the ice.

They tie up as Shelley throws a couple of short right crosses and uppercuts while Langdon returns fire with some short rights of his own. They continue exchanging punches for a good while with Shelley throwing and landing more punches. They tie up and wrestle around for a bit as they skate closer to the boards. Shelley fires a couple of rights as Langdon comes back with some rights of his own as the two begin to exchange rights once again. Shelley is able to shake off his elbow pad and cocks back his right, patiently waiting for spots to throw big punches while Langdon continues to throw short rights and jersey-jabs. Langdon switches hands and starts throwing lefts as Shelley returns fire with rights. They continue to exchange rights until the end of the fight where they just hold on until the linesmen come in.

They drop the gloves and Foote lands two quick uppercuts with Konopka coming back with four rights that knock Foote's helmet off. They grapple before Foote throws another uppercut with Konopka throwing two overhand rights. Foote then pulls Konopka's jersey over his head and off his body before he slams Konopka to the ice. Other Penalties: Konopka received a game misconduct.

Fedoruk then throws four quick lefts as Shelley comes back with three of his own. Fedoruk throws an overhand right before they grapple in tight. Fedoruk throws two lefts, rips Shelley's helmet off, and then throws 5-6 more lefts. They then go toe-to-toe with punches for a short moment: Fedoruk with the left; Shelley with the right. Fedoruk switches hands and throws two rights as Shelley returns fire with two rights as well. Fedoruk throws two rights to the back of Shelley's head before he turns Shelley around and throws him to the ice.

A scrum develops in front of the Colorado net as everyone starts pushing and shoving. Goertzen and McCormick skate away from things and square off at center ice. McCormick grabs on and throws two rights as Goertzen throws one of his own. Both players then almost lose their balance but hold onto each other and are able to stay on their feet. McCormick lands two big rights as the two began to exchange long right hands. Goertzen misses with two rights as McCormick switches hands and throws a left to the back of Goertzen's helmet before throwing Goertzen to the ice.

Rupp takes a run at Strudwick along the boards as Strudwick shoves him in retaliation. They skate up ice as Strudwick challenges Rupp before they drop the gloves and square off. Strudwick grabs ahold of Rupp's left arm, but Rupp is able to get free from Strudwick's grasp as they skate farther down ice. They finally grab on as Strudwick quickly rips Rupp's helmet off and lands two rabbit punches to the back of Rupp's head. Rupp then wraps his right arm around Strudwick and they fall to the ice.

Shortly after the faceoff these two drop the gloves and grab onto one another. Shelley starts off with an awkward right. Boogaard returns fire with a right of his own just a second later. Boogaard sticks with the right throwing about four more with Shelley sneaking in one too. They grapple for a moment and Boogaard throws about five rights to the body. Shelley breaks the momentum with a missed uppercut. Another moment of grappling before Boogaard lands a straight right. He then attempts a couple of more shots, but they seem to come up short, as does Shelley's counterpunch. They're grappling and trying to mix in shots that don't seem to land. Boogaard attempts to bounce Shelley off of the boards and throw an immediate right, but Shelley ducks under it. Shelley then misses with a monster over the top left and falls to the ice. Boogaard gets another couple of rights in before the linesmen come in to break it up.

They're quickly back on their feet and Bouck misses two right as Goertzen misses a right and lands a right. They spin around and both throw right, Bouck misses and Goertzen glances his shot. They grapple and spin and Bouck lands a very short right. They spin and grapple some more and the linesmen come in.

Some good hitting along the boards leads to hot tempers and everyone on the ice gathers in. Rupp drops the gloves with Hinote and ragdolls him as the rest of the players push and shove. Severson, playing in his first game with Columbus, separates away with Brad May and they agree to go. May starts off with three hard lefts to a ducking Severson, one of which looks to land. Severson recovers and ties May up momentarily. May again gets the left free and drills Severson with two very hard shots. Severson ducks and eats two more good lefts, before dropping to his knees where May gets in two last lefts to the back of his head. Severson gets back on his skates, but has no fight left in him and the linesmen come in to break it up. Other Penalties: Dan Hinote received a roughing; Michael Rupp a double roughing.

Boulerice goes down to his knees, allowing Shelley to land two more rights while Boulerice is trying to return to his feet. Shelley then lands two right crosses and gets Boulerice's jersey up and over his head. Shelley throws a short right and the linesmen quickly come in. Boulerice starts throwing lefts through the linesmen, only to be tackled to the ice by one of them.
