Lappy gets in some short punches and gets Morrow's helmet off. Morrow then holds on as they dance around with Lappy's helmet finally coming off. They're then in very tight with few punches thrown. After the linesmen figure out they aren't going to let go, they break it up.

Arnott gets hit by Hinote in the neutral zone and scrapes his faces along the glass, cutting him up pretty badly. Arnott goes straight after Hinote and lands a few punches to Hinote's face, nothing damaging. Then Guerin comes in and hits the back of Hinote's head. Lappy comes in to help out, but doesn't really throw anything. Other Penalties: Arnott received an instigator and game misconduct; Laperriere a roughing and game misconduct; Bill Guerin a roughing. Ian Laperriere did not receive a fighting major.

Boughner shoves Parros in front of the Avalanche net and the two drop the gloves, moving out of the crease to square off. They come together and Parros throws a couple of weak rights as both fighters lose their balance and fall to the ice. Boughner gets back to his feet first and starts throwing lefts at the back of Parros head. The majority of Boughner's punches were hitting helmet. Parros loses his balance again and falls to his knees with Boughner on top of him.

Laraque and May decide to drop the gloves as soon as the puck is dropped. After a short square off Laraque grabs ahold of May getting him off-balance. May is in an awkward position as Laraque is letting loose with lefts. May gets sent to the ice and Laraque doesn't let up, but May still manages to get back on his feet. He doesn't get to straighten up before getting pulled back to the ice by the stronger Laraque. The linsemen then rush in to end the fight.

Laperriere gets hit by Semenov up along the boards and that's all it takes. They throw the gloves off and get it on near the faceoff circle. Semenov seems to be in better control of the fight as he locks out the smaller Laperriere. Semenov tries throwing quite a few jersey-punches, but they all come up short. Laperriere finally tries to sneak in a few of his own, but Semenov's reach has him locked out. The linsemen come in as they tire each other out. Other Penalties: Semenov received an elbowing.

Laperriere throws a hit on Smith as he clears the puck out of his own zone. They drop the gloves at center as Laperriere starts with three rights. Smith does a good job of blocking as they come up short. They tie up as Laperriere throws another right that comes up short. Smith throws inside with two quick right jabs then unloads two big rights to the back of Laperriere's head that send him down to the ice. Smith lands an uppercut as both fighters are on their knees and the linesmen come in to break it up.

Ott comes back with a left, but gets caught again with another flurry of rights by Laperriere. They tie up and Ott struggles to get his right hand free until the linesmen come in.

The two drop the gloves and square off at the blueline, each fighter switching stances multiple times. Fedoruk misses with a left hook as May grabs on and throws a couple of quick rights. Fedoruk ties up May's right arm and tries to rip his helmet off. He finally does and lands a right as May comes back with a left to the back of Fedoruk's head. Fedoruk switches hands and throws a couple of lefts as the two start exchanging punches. They each nail each other with solid punches, knocking May off-balance and to the ice.

Antti Laaksonen crosses the blueline into the Flames' zone and gets taken out by Marchment after a late whistle for offsides. Laperriere is close by and skates right on over. The two get the sticks up and drop the gloves while a linesman is trying to intervene. They break away and just start pumping punches at one another, Laperriere with the right, Marchment with the left. About 8-10 punches are tossed by each and then they start to wrestle. Laperriere sneaks in a short left as they continue grappling for position. They're against the boards now and each player tosses a shot while they're tangled. They're in tight and each player tries to use the other ones grip to make him spring forward while punching. A couple of more punches land from each, Lappy with a couple of rights, Mush with some lefts. The linesmen wait for them to grapple and tire a bit more before moving in and breaking it up.

They come together in the corner and drop the gloves. They tie up before Laperriere gets loose and throws a flurry of about four overhand rights that knock Johnson's helmet off. Laperriere throws another overhand right as Johnson comes back with a right of his own. Johnson grabs Laperriere's knee and tries to take him down, but can't get him off-balance. Laperriere throws a couple of more overhand rights before he takes Johnson to the ice, ending the fight. Other Penalties: Johnson received a hooking.

Hinote gets back up and they wrestle around for a bit until the linesmen come in. Mair throws a left while the linesmen are in between them. Other Penalties: Mair received a roughing.

Cody McCormick skates over to Godard and gives him a slash to get him to go, but May comes skating in fast and Godard drops his gloves to go with an already gloveless May. They grab on and Godard throws a quick 4-5 rights, all landing to the side of May's head. They grapple a bit and exchange punches that don't land. May throws a right that misses and Godard counters with two rights that land. Godard waits, throws a couple of more rights, shakes off the elbow pad sticks with the right for a couple of more shots. May goes to switch to the left and when he does he opens himself up for a big right hand from Godard. They grapple a bit more and May tries to sneak in a right. Godard counters with a couple of more big shots that snap May's head back. They then hold on for the linesmen to come in. Both skaters skate a way with a smile. Other Penalties: Cody McCormick received a slashing.

He grabs Hollweg's hair for a moment but quickly lets go before they grapple for a bit. Hollweg throws a left before Laperriere gets loose and misses with a big right. Hollweg misses with a left as Laperriere throws two rights to the back of Hollweg's head. Laperriere throws an overhand right before the two tie each other up and struggle to get loose. Laperriere attempts a right that is blocked by Hollweg before Laperriere gets loose and throws a few more rights. They then hold on until the linesmen come in.

Before the faceoff even begins, McLean and Comrie are already talking. Right after the two take the faceoff, they quickly drop the gloves. Comrie starts things off with a mix of 7-8 rights and uppercuts, a couple of them landing. McLean throws two rights in defense as Comrie continues to throw rights with McLean's left hand in his face. Comrie throws more rights towards the back of McLean's head as he is bent over, trying to avoid punches. Comrie lands three right hands as McLean stands back up. McLean misses with a right, allowing Comrie to land a right hand right on the button. Comrie throws two more short rights before they grapple for a short while; McLean trying to rip off Comrie's helmet during the struggle. Comrie is able to get himself loose and ducks out of McLean's way, skating further down so the two can square off once again. They grab on again with McLean throwing a short right, switching hands, and throwing a left as Comrie struggles to get free. Comrie gets loose and lands two rights to the back of McLean's head as McLean throws a right in response. The two exchange short punches before Comrie connects with a big uppercut. McLean goes down to his knees, obviously fatigued and the linesmen come in to end the fight.

McCormick grabs on and throws two rights as Goertzen throws one of his own. Both players then almost lose their balance but hold onto each other and are able to stay on their feet. McCormick lands two big rights as the two began to exchange long right hands. Goertzen misses with two rights as McCormick switches hands and throws a left to the back of Goertzen's helmet before throwing Goertzen to the ice.

Laperriere gets free and throws a left before he gets Allen turned around and up against the glass. The linesmen come in shortly after.

Laperriere then challenges Kesler and they drop the gloves. They grab on as Kesler throws three straight rights with one landing. Laperriere gets his right going and lands four overhand rights, knocking Kesler's helmet off. Laperriere lands four more hard rights as Kesler returns fire with two of his own. Laperriere connects with a long right before the two tie up and wrestle to get loose. Laperriere gets an arm free and lands two rights and two uppercuts, stunning Kesler before the two fall to the ice.

They spin around at arms-length as Bieska throws a jersey-jab while Hinote comes back with a long right that misses. The two then go back and forth with long rights that miss the target. Hinote throws two rights before the two go back and forth with rights once again. Bieska misses over the top with a right as both players continue to exchange wild rights that come up short for the most part. Bieska then connects with three quick rights and Hinote throws a right in response. They exchange right hands before they tie up and Bieska rips Hinote's helmet off just before the linesmen come in.

Boogaard drops his gloves and lands a left jab as May responds with a gloved left. The linesmen quickly try to jump in between the two as Boogaard tries to throw a right around the linesmen while May still has gloves and stick in hand. The linesmen continue to try and separate the two as May throws a short left that hits the front of Boogaard's helmet. Things finally calm down and the two skate to the penalty box. Other Penalties: Boogaard received a slashing.

Some good hitting along the boards leads to hot tempers and everyone on the ice gathers in. Rupp drops the gloves with Hinote and ragdolls him as the rest of the players push and shove. Severson, playing in his first game with Columbus, separates away with Brad May and they agree to go. May starts off with three hard lefts to a ducking Severson, one of which looks to land. Severson recovers and ties May up momentarily. May again gets the left free and drills Severson with two very hard shots. Severson ducks and eats two more good lefts, before dropping to his knees where May gets in two last lefts to the back of his head. Severson gets back on his skates, but has no fight left in him and the linesmen come in to break it up. Other Penalties: Dan Hinote received a roughing; Michael Rupp a double roughing.

Laperriere gets his right arm free and misses with an overhand right while Arnott is bent over. Arnott throws an inside uppercut and Laperriere fires back with a right. Arnott attempts a locked-out right just before the linesmen come in and end the fight. Other Penalties: Laperriere received a holding.

Players gather and McCormick and Jackman grab ahold of each other, drop the gloves and break away from the pack. McCormick starts things off by throwing about four rights, the first possibly connecting with Jackman leaning away from the rest. They grapple a bit and then Jackman throws a couple of right body shots. McCormick responsds with a right that comes up short. Jackman then throws a bit overhand right that McCormick gets under. McCormick immediately throws a left that catches Jackman in the shoulder, and follows up with another left that Jackman gets under. The skate and grapple some more, each player tossing a shot that doesn't reach its target. Jackman throws a couple of more body shots and then goes up top with a right that gets a little high, but knocks McCormick's helmet off, as it was already half off. Jackman continues with the right and McCormicks responds with a good left. They each toss another shot that doesn't quite make it and it's apparent they're tired. They start to grapple once more and the linesmen come in to break it up.

McCarty loses his balance and pushes himself back up with his hand as May lands two lefts to the back of McCarty's head while he is bent over. McCarty stands up straight and misses with a left just before May misses with a right hook over the top. The two then wrestle around in tight until the linesmen come in.

Henry's up fast and pulls Boughner up with him, but the linesmen break it up before they can continue.

Doan crushes Alex Tanguay with an open-ice hit near the side boards earlier. Later, Laperriere skates over and challenges Doan. They drop the gloves and immediately tie up, each fighter struggling to get an arm free. Laperriere takes Doan's helmet off just before Doan gets an arm free and throws three rights and an uppercut while the two skate into the glass. Doan throws a right cross and Laperriere is able to pull his arm out of Doan's grasp, proceeding to connect with four rights to the back of Doan's head. Laperriere throws another right to the back of Doan's head with Laperriere's elbow pad hitting Doan. They grapple some more and Doan throws a short right, an uppercut, and a left before he throws Laperriere down to the ice.
