I really don't know what the fuss is about. Avery hits Fisher clean and hard... Then gets challenged to fight. Why.. Good hit, clean hit.. Then Avery says wait wait.. Smid then backs toward center ice.. Looks away briefly, then is looking at Avery as Avery starts at him.. Oilers players are saying Smid turned his back.. not so.. Smid saw Seans right fist the whole time, and it connected and dropped him. People love to hate Sean, but the reason they do, is they are just not as good as him.

gonna be some big suspensions for the oilers.. players jumping off the bench to fight, then start fights with players on the bench.. typical oilers, losing badly and goon it up..

1) Clean hit on Fraser by Avery. 2) Smid pointlessly challenges Avery, who wears a bullseye on his sweater and takes far more cheap shots than he gives out. 3) Smid, wearing a visor, does not remove it. 4) Avery, knowing its already a blowout, doens't bit. 5) Smid, still wearing the visor, keeps talking, maintains eye contact. 6) Avery, watching Smid still eyeing him, obliges. 7) Smid gets one hand up in Avery's face, sheds his other glove. 8) Avery, much faster, has gloves off and rocks Smid with a right to the jaw. 9) Smid goes down. 10) Avery somehow gets an extra 2 minutes for "roughing". 11) The internet declares it a sucker punch. Despite all the vids and pics that show Smid was ready and willing. 12) Smid spends time practicing getting his gloves off after challenging someone to a fight.

Look, you drop them, you gotta be prepared. Avery did what he had to do and Smid didn't. Thats why he got KO'd.

Sean Avery appears to be the only player in the NHL who is willing to fight without risking a delay of game penalty for shadow boxing. Decisive win to Avery for not wasting time once the gloves were off.

i'm not usually on the avery sucks bandwagon , but sucker punching a euro? come on the game was over anyway, so why even bother?
