Apr 1, 2007 Toronto Maple Leafs Darcy Tucker
1pd 14:33 New York Rangers Sean Avery
Tucker and Avery have some words before the draw and jostle for position. The puck drops and Tucker immediately drop his gloves while Avery turns around and starts to skate away. Tucker skates after him and Avery ducks his head while Tucker asks him if they are fighting or not. Avery then turns around, drops his gloves, and grabs ahold of Tucker. Avery starts things off by connecting with an uppercut. Avery takes Tucker's helmet off and then throws a right cross that misses, allowing Tucker to throw a flurry of three rights that knock Avery's helmet off. Tucker switches hands and throws a left that Avery is able to counter with a right. They then go back and forth with rights until Tucker loses his balance and falls to the ice. The linesmen are quick to jump in and grab the two. They get back to their feet and exchange some more words before heading to their respective penalty box.

I was at the game and they threw roughly the same amount of shots at eachother. Clearly, the best shot of the fight was thrown by Tucker...a nice square righthand to the grill of Avery. Unfortunately, it had little effect and (what you can't see on the video, thanks to McCabe) is Avery's roundhouse knocking Tucker over. I keep reading that Tucker "lost his balance." He did so as a result of Avery's fist pounding him in the side of the head. On my card Avery wins on points for the uppercut at the beginning of the fight, the knockdown, then for the effect of the fight on the fans and the team. If Tucker thought he'd put Avery in his place by dropping the gloves with him, he was completely wrong. So much so that Avery later completes a Gordie Howe hatter and the end result is a complete KO of the Leafs.

A great show from both agitators.
A solid DRAW in my paper.
Tucker landed one heavy right flush to the mark.
Avery figths still enough well for the draw.

Darcy the girl. What a *****. I would be embarrassed if my name was Darcy and I played in the NHL, the guys have to be having a field day with him being named after a girl.

Hard to vote for either of these schmucks but win for Tucker. Avery is such a jerk, it's hard to know what the 2 of them were saying but even at the height of combat, Avery will stoop lower than pond scum to try and draw an instigator from an opponent but will be glad to throw the first punch. What is it about these people that just makes you wish they would go home, find a nice comfortable chair, a shotgun, and blow their own heads off?

The Canadian TSN-Feed shows that Tucker was DROPPED with a right-hand, by Avery...

Clear win for Avery... It was all over ESPN as well as TSN.ca that Avery not only had 2 goals and an assist, leading the Rangers to victory, but also DROPPED DARCY TUCKER WITH A RIGHT HAND!

The folks at MSG last night were also saying it was a clear knock-down, at the end of the scrap...

Avery by a take-down. Nice to see these two fight each other. Clean up the gene pool a little.

I know a lot of people vote against Tucker due to sheer hatred for him, but give me a break. He landed 6 shots to Avery and Avery landed maybe 2? Tucker also had the hardest punch in the fight which sent Averys helmet flying. The takedown involved Tucker falling backwards and Avery punching him in the chest on the way down. Someone said he wins because of the takedown? Are you serious? I'd gladly "lose" a fight then and break every bone in the guys face in the process. That is a bad way to judge a fight.

I used to just come to this site to read the comments and such but it's a sad day when this is starting to turn into a popularity contest more than an actual vote on the fight. Avery loses this fight, it was a good scrap, but he barely landed anything. Enough with the bias.

Sure Tucker really pounded him?????? Sounds like some angry Leaf fans that realized they got a butt whipping in there most important game of the season. Avery got up and laughed at Tucker after the fight and then continued to trash talk every leaf in sight including tucker. Tucker wouldn't even look at Avery the rest of the game even after Avery smashed him a couple times. Then avery called him out after the game saying Tucker is a b****. As for the person who said avery had a mark on his head. It was a pimple that he himself made fun of in his postgame interview on MSG.

Last time i checked punches to the helmet that don't connect with the Face, dont really count. and just based on the fact that Avery didn't even want any of the fight is evidence enough that Tucker is hands down the victor. I don't know about you jokers, but i base wins on punches landed on the face and Tucker definatly had more in that coloumn. Although if this was grade 10 wrestling Avery would of earned a clean 1 point for his takedown. Tucker Wins....****.
